Is Al Gore headed overseas?

Drudge linked to a San Francisco Chronicle blog post -- which noted that Al Gore cancelled a fundraiser with Sen. Barbara Boxer (D) because he was called overseas for a trip related to his work on global warming -- and speculated that Gore is Nobel-bound.

But according to a Gore spokeswoman, the former vice president is NOT headed overseas.

"The events (including Boxer's) in California were postponed because of a request to participate in senior level meetings on the climate crisis in Asia," spokeswoman Kalee Kreider tells First Read. "However, early Thursday morning these meetings were postponed. As a result, he is resuming his schedule in California including meetings on Friday with the Alliance for Climate Protection. Friday will be a normal long business day. He will return to his home in Nashville, TN on Saturday."

They will give that to anyone. What has he been Noble about? Jimmy Carter won it so that should explain the criteria. What a joke of a prize it has become.

If the Nobel has become a joke to you, InTheMiddle, consider how much more the Medal of Freedom has become a joke---anyone who has screwed up badly enough in the Bush administration seems to get one (usually along with a promotion and/or wads of cash). The Nobel at least still has international prestige.

Inthemiddle - you really are out of it way down there in no man's land, aren't you? He has always conducted his self in a noble and gentlemanly mannor, unlike our current joke in chief. And global warming is nothing new, he has just been working on it longer than most. When I was in high school (in the late 60's)our science teacher had us
research the demise of the ozone layer - so I stopped buying hair spray and deoderant in spray cans a long, long time ago. Also, by the time I was a sophomore in college the report in our book and by our science teacher told us the caps were already on the verge of melting and of course we alreay knew about smog and air pollution from our friends in calif. And Jimmy Carter should have won it, by the way, when was the last time you helped anyone build their own home? Not give it away, but assist them in the building? Know anything at all about Habitat for Humanity? If you did you would not make such foolish statements. you are not in the middle - you are way out there dude, reel it on it and get with the program, unless you are over 90 you will feel the effects of global warming just like the rest of us and it is gonna be sooner rather than later thanks to all those bombs being dropped for oil.
Don't be jealous that Al beat shrub in the popular vote, just be angry cause the Supremes served you up an idiot with no return to sender tag attached.

Al Gore is, unquestionably, the most qualified man in this country to be President. More federal experience than Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Rudy, Thompson, and Mitt COMBINED, he's single handedly made climate change a global priority, and he was THE FIRST politician to oppose the war in 2002. And he's about to add a Nobel Peace Prize to his trophy collection.

I ask you all, who's more qualified?

Well put Union Baby. Global Warming is a huge potential problem. With melting ice caps, raising oceanic temperatures, and decline of sea salt concentration, scientists speculate we will see more hurricanes as distructive as Katrina, decline of fish population, and receding beach lines.

I'm glad that he is making "pop-culture-like" presentations on the subject reguardless of his intentions. Hopefully his message can effect developing third world countries (China) whose green house gas contributions to our atmosphere are increasing to an unmonitored point.

Bravo Al Gore. You clearly are more for the people than the stupid monkey in office (He probably is throwing poo right now too).

The dumbing down of America will be the death of our country. Why is it okay to lambast Al Gore for learning about and caring about Global Warming? He's made it his mission to educate the masses about Global Warming, and he's doing a great job of it. Yet we have put up with 6 years of Bush, the man who can't complete a simple sentence on his own! The media is so quick to jump on any little error that potential candidates make, yet they let Bush get off with mispronouncing names and misstating facts and outright lying to us. Just a little feedback on your post, It's "Nobel not "Noble" and it was created in 1895 by Alfred Nobel, a scientist amoung other things, and it was first awarded in 1901.
