Don’t begin to beg now that you can see the storm approaching.  Hillary, you just can't keep getting everything wrong and still expect a promotion, that is just not the way the world works.  In order to be president, you have to actually accomplish something.  Perhaps if you didn't fail at health care reform in the 90's with a democratic president and a democratic congress, then we would consider you for this position.  You also can't expect people to take you all the way to the white house because your husband was there. Here's my advice, accomplish something and then come back in 6 years and we will see if we have a position open.

I enjoyed Olbermann at first, but he has slowly moved further and further left, and I can no longer watch him.  He lost me completely, when he couldn't understand why it would be inappropriate to allow President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad access to the WTCs.  (In fairness, I can't listen to the right-wing water carriers either).

I can't wait to watch (if I would watch him) to lob softballs to Clinton for an hour.  When Bill was on, he hung on his every word.  And that isn't so much an attack on Clinton--who had made appearances on Faux News and the like, and I do respect her for that at least.  I'm sure Olbermann would act the same way towards any democrat, but couldn't give any respect to a republican candidate, should one go on his show.

Ok lets look at Hill's plan. Give all Americans health care. Lets look back at Medicare part D. The estimate given for elderly to receive aid for medication was a vast under assessment. Now her plan is to spread mot just prescriptions but all medical care. She claimed in her statement above to be on the side of the middle class. If she really was why bring in a program that will lower pay rates across the board to middle class in the form of higher payroll taxes. Already Americans pay a combination between employer and worker a range of about 15% to 50% of their wage in a payroll tax and she wants to raise that more. how is lowering take home wages a form of fighting for the middle class when the economic truth is that a wide spread health plan would hurt the middle class financially.

Hillary is correct. Cynicism and mean-spiritedness are the very definition of GOP populist politics these days. They're dead-on when they talk about the "Swift-boating" of this kid and his family. Truth matters little to the far right. Clinging to power by any deceptive means necessary is the name of the game.

Gosh golly gee, it must be a very slow day in the aimless speculation department of pundits - r - us.  Money is the oxygen of the modern political process.  If the Democratic field were experiencing, say, the lackluster support of donors that the Republicans are up against, a Gore campaign might make sense.  I may be mistaken, but I believe that 3rd place Edwards has better fund-raising effort than Gore did when he actually ran.

Oh and by the way, hating Senator Clinton will accomplish about the same as hating President Bush did in the last election: It makes it really easy for the partisans on the other side to love her, while turning the moderate middle that makes up the swing off of the other candidate.

Take on long look at ALL the candidates, in particular their earnings statements that have to be filed to run for president, and you will find that NOT ONE candidate has even the slightest idea what it is like to be middle class in America.

So basically W's tax cut gave the millionaire an extra 200,000 dollars a year while the person at less than 20,000 dollars got 0 dollars in tax cut. Is this fair?  The only reason our economy turned around in 2004 was because we were giving money away free at 1 %. We had 3 years of w's tax cut and it did not bring us out of the recession. The 1 % interest rate did. So who did W's tax cut helped most? Not middle america that is for sure.

Lee, you're completely glossing over the fact that Bush's "acceptable" level of funding and a series of administrative changes of questionable legality are designed to DECREASE participation in this program.  The Republican party has become so radical that things that were acceptable or even GOP ideas 10 years ago are now out of the question.  During the Reagan administration Arlen Specter was considered one of the most reliable conservatives in Congress.  Now he's frequently referred to as a RINO.  What do these things say about the Republican party?

Lee, no, not nonsense.  The level of funding the prez wants will decrease the number of enrollees.  End of story.  Yes, some states get more money than others based both on population and cost of living since the program is tied to the poverty line which varies from area to area.  And what of DINOs?  Y'know what, my own representative is more conservative than I prefer on some issues but for the most part he's OK.  This is a more conservative district than say, San Francisco, and we have a slightly more conservative Democrat to reflect the wishes of the electorate.  But you won't find him trying to insist that Creationism/Intelligent Design be taught in public schools, or that the Clean Air Act be overturned, or that Plan B not be available in pharmacies.  Likewise Tester, Schyler, Casey, and Webb are more conservative than some in their party but they're clearly to the left of their opposition.  Funny thing is, Democrats aren't the ones making noise about DINOs and RINOs, it's mostly a conservative theme.  And do we really need to get into the discussion of not having a veto-proof majority or having a president that will veto anything the party passes again?

While Senator Hillary Clinton is not my preferred candidate, I cannot fault her point of view regarding the potential destruction of the middle class.  

Lou Dobbs said months ago that corporate america was trying to accomplish the same thing, the destruction of the middle class.  

When the relationship between CEOs and corporate boards (the latter of which have a fiduciary duty to the interests of the shareholders) is so incestuous that the chosen few are compensated at a level 200 to 300 times that of the worker who actually deals with the customers on a daily basis or produces the goods sold, the destruction of the middle class seems to be at least the de facto, if not the intended, result.

On top of this unequal treatment, the board then gives the CEO some overly generous golden parachute while reducing the benefits of the workers who either produce the actual goods or deal with the customers on a daily basis.  I am all for CEOs receiving good compensation for their time and talent, but the people who produce the goods and/or deal with the customers on a daily basis do at least as much -- if not more -- to keep the business a going concern.

Such stratification of these type of pay ladders is even more puzzling when one considers that repeat customers return to the business not because of whom the CEO is but because some person in the store provided good customer service.  

When CEO compensation reaches the level of obscene relative to the pay of the daily worker and CEOs insist on such levels of compensation, greed seems to be the most likely explanation.  

Finally, I have no doubt that many such greed-filled/motivated CEOs consider themselves good Christians.  However, such greed on their part is completely incompatible with the Bible, especially the life and teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.    

John B, don't waste your time trying to argue with Lee Holmes.  When I asked him if he would still argue in support of the type of unreveiwable powers that President George W. Bush has claimed for himself if such powers were being claimed by a president he did not vote for or otherwise support, he refused to answer my question, despite me stating my own position first.  I have repeatedly stated that I would not support ANY president claiming such unreviewable powers.  Moreover, I voted for President George W. Bush twice, so I don't support those powers for a president for whom I voted.  Lee Holmes' refusing to answer my question leads me to form the opinion that he may well be a combination coward-hypocrite.  A hypo-coward?
