OMG: Cynthia McKinney for prez?

Posted: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 10:18 AM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Julia Steers and Mark Murray
Former Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D), who lost her congressional seat last year after her publicized scuffle with a Capitol Hill police officer, registered to vote in California -- and is being pushed by some to run for president as a Green Party candidate, the AP reports. Despite McKinney posting a letter on her Web site last month, saying she is not interested in the Green Party nomination, a group called "Run! Cynthia! Run!" is trying to draft her as a candidate in California. McKinney and six other Green Party candidates, including Ralph Nader were nominated by the Green Party Convention in September, and McKinney has yet to remove her name from the ballot.

"'She's got us all guessing, but she hasn't removed her name, and that's a good sign,' said John Morton, a California Green Party delegate, 'I talked to her last week and she said she's very interested but not ready to make an announcement.'"

Oh my gosh!  This woman was and probably still is a crazy looney toon cartoon character.  I can only hope she'll be the Green Party's candidate as opposed to Ralph Nader, since she'll have a lesser spoiler impact than Nader...memories of what Nader did to the Democrats in Florida are still fresh in my mind [while I do admit it is not an absolute for-gone conclusion that but for Nader, Gore would've won all those votes and Florida and the 2000 election...but its accepted that Nader did have a negative effect.]
It is sad that the green party won't be a viable 3rd party as long as they gravitate to 3rd rate candidates.
god help the secret service when Cynthia starts slapping them around.
ROFLMAO.....This is the funniest thing I have heard all week.
McKinney running would have no effect.  She's too nutty even for the Democrats.
Oh wow...something democrats and republicans, progressives and conservatives can agree on.
See...we CAN all just get along!   lol
Cynthia McKinney, the First Read uniter.
Cynthia McKinney/John Elliot

They can form the left wing nuts party....
I sure hope the Green party comes to it's senses soon, 'cuz McKinney wouldn't get my vote even if she was running against dunce-in-chief GWB.......Anyone with the delusions of grandeur she has doesn't belong anywhere but the funny pages!
Your article refers to "Run! Cynthia! Run!"  Don't you mean "Scuffle! Cynthia! Scuffle!"  The best thing this freak can do is to RUN! for the exit or to engage a mud wrestling contest with the other pig Pelosi.
Wow I guess the people of Georgia finally chased her out of the state.  I find it interesting and telling that she ended up in California.  She should blend in well there.
Its a sad day for the Greens, when that trouble-making loudmouth is the best they can do. Cynthia McKinney was worse than useless during her tenure in the House; she was a national embarassment! The Green Party lost my respect by running Ralph Nader against Al Gore in 2000, thereby ensuring George Bush of his narrow win in Florida. This move totally detracts from the integrity of their cause.
The environmental movement does not need the likes of this boorish pig.

. . . .

Well, Jerry couldn't resist himself...with his typical nonsense.

She is just another example of a politician, whose ego is bigger than her worth. No more egomaniacs should run for office, but then that would eliminate all of the current top presidential hopefuls.
Let her run and win city  council seat first .
She is nothing but sad news to national politics.
Thanks for the racism remarks.  I read First Read all the time and it is so very REFRESHING to see thugs, gangsta rap and other black stereotypes used to justify negative commentary and that First Read also allowed to make it thru also.  I am sure you welcome Don Imus back
Who cares?  Neither she nor the Greens have a snowball's chance in hell of winning ANYTHING.
Cynthia McKinney spoke the truth and they almost destroyed her...so all of you do nothing negatives need to back off and get your information straight!
Cynthia would be a strong, intelligent, articulate candidate...Which is more than I can say for most of the suites running!!!
Was she ever married to an ex-President ?

That seems to be a MAJOR qualification for the Presidency on this blog.

Clinton/McKinney '08
McKinney/Clinton '08

Clinton/Cheney '08 ?

Not much difference
All of you are criticizing McKinney and the Green Party, shouldn't you be criticizing the Republican's and the 60 million people who voted for what we have now. She probably be better then what we have now for a President.
For a president that as to rely on his vice president to run the country, his policies, and to fire people(Brown), she would be better for this country right now.
Cynthia McKinney? Why would the Greens want to gravitate further toward obscurity?
This proposal is hilarious.
Hmmm im thinking Cynthia/Craig run would be a ticket to the White House . Cynthia could guard the bathroom stalls for Larry in case any security people arrive .
Wow, I am REALLY amazed to read the hateful comments regarding Cynthia McKinney.  Such hatred, lighten up people she is not moving into your house!  Why don't you show that same passion in trying to rid the U.S. of that Antichrist in the White House.  He has done more to ruin this country then Cynthia McKinney ever could.  God Bless America, now more so than ever!!!
As a registered Democrat, I have always been embarassed to hear Cynthia McKinney on CSPAN.
Hey Dewey: Did you forget, she would have accepted alot of money from the terrorist.articulate & intelligent give me a brake.cartoons do not even need
more violence from her.yes we're glad she is gone
She is a uniter...only the most left wing nuts would think this woman is anything but crazier than a bedbug
She won't get the F.O.P. vote.
Wow, its clear to see how effectively the corporate propaganda machine has brainwashed these commenters against Cynthia Mckinney.  If y'all can't figure out that she was smeared because of her political positions, than we will forever be doomed to the likes of King George & his cronies.
Wow, ai clarke, I wasn't aware a group of hotel rooms were running for President. . ."Which is more than I can say for most of the suites running!!!". . .Let's hope she will be more articulate than her supporters.
When an African American women refuses to be quiet and acquiesce to party politics she is labeled.  Thanks for allowing me to become more familiar with the racist, sexist, and truly "American" mentality prevalent in our society.  Maybe if she "shucked and jived" she would be more readily accepted.  But because she tried to do her job and represent the people it became and issue.  Cynthia going to California is no different than Hillary going to NY.
Everytime I see her eyes, it just makes me wonder if she really is just a yard shy of a first down....

Maybe she should move to new York and run for Hillary's seat if by some act of god she wins the White House.  New Yorkers deserve no less.....

Her political career began in 1986 when her father, a representative in the Georgia House of Representatives, submitted her name as a write-in candidate for the Georgia state house. She got about 40 percent of the popular vote, despite the fact that she lived in Jamaica at the time with then-husband Coy Grandison (with whom she had a son, Coy McKinney, now age 20). In 1988, McKinney ran for the same seat and won, making the McKinneys the first father and daughter to simultaneously serve in the Georgia state house.

Lived in Jamaica and won her father's seat??????

Another thing:
On August 27th at a peace rally in Kennebunkport, Maine McKinney confirmed the depth of her disenchantment with the Democratic Party taking the bold step of urging San Francisco voters to replace Nancy Pelosi, with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.

Talk about the ultimate wild thing.......

Criticism of Al Gore
During the 2000 presidential campaign, McKinney wrote that "Al Gore's Negro tolerance level has never been too high. I've never known him to have more than one black person around him at any given time." The Gore campaign responded by pointing out that Gore's campaign manager was black.

Bringing more nuts to the can!

RE: Freeman, Dallas TX. Racist? Is that the new word to describe someone who doesn't agree with you? She is a pig, nobody likes her, get over it.
Psycho, bigot, pig, fool; I can think of many words to describe her, but 'candidate' is not one of them.
I can't believe that the Green Party couldn't find a more credible candidate than this embarrassing illiterate McKinney.
Just when you think you have heard the dumbest thing possible, some mook proves you wrong. Things can and will get stranger.
Sorry to break up all of this kumbaya, but I think a GORE/McKinney ticket would be a beautiful thing.  Brother Al keeps saying he's not running, but the prospect of Cynthia as running mate might just tip the scales.  What other party would be a better fit for Al?

With a little luck they could qualify for federal campaign funds like Pat Buchanan and spend it campaigning on two issues:  Global warming and the excesses of the capitol police force.

I say you go, girl.

Crisis:  Except that Hillary won.

Mary:  She deserved to be smeared for her political positions.  Smearing is as smearing does.
Cynthia McKinney - one of the only members of congress who dared attend Anti-War rallies and address the concerned Americans who made the effort to protest - where were the rest of our so called 'leaders' ?.  So she tussled with the arrogant police on Capitol Hill - big deal!  Our country is is a big mess and she is much more reasonable than the current occupnat of the White House.
Spent some time in DC and have first hand knowledge of the way Ms. Green speaks - without reasoning or decorum.

This is neither a race nor gender issue - this is a respect issue. I truly fear for the Green Party. What a mess they can make of things. You'd think, if they were truly "green", they'd be looking for someone who has creds on these issues. Nader doesn't count because he has become more of a joke (not withstanding his ego-driven campaign for the purpose of deflecting Gore votes in 2000) since his Corvair days.

Even Jerry Brown has matured over the past few decades. When will Nader?
I was a Green until they abandoned Ralph. Now they're a third rate Democratic party protest group.
Yeah? Who was blamed for her congressional defeat by her own father whose remarks went unadressed by McKinney? [then hanging around with Nation of Islam racist and anti-Semite Louis ''Calypso Louie''Farrakhan].

''I'll tell you who it was. The Jews. The J-E-W-S''.

This woman is a bombthrower who is better left in political oblivion.
I can't believe that some Dems still blame Nader for that loss.  Nader didn't have the negative effect - the DEMOCRATIC PARTY had the negative effect.  If the Dems had done a better job protecting individuals and the environment, and put up a better candidate than an "environmentalist" who is a partial owner of Occidental Oil, I along with many others, would have voted Democrat that year.  Nader was my only way of voting against the Democrats without voting directly for the Republicans.  Don't blame others for your problems, blame yourself - you have a better chance of fixing yourself!!
Why is the Green Party determined to help elect Republicans.  Not that McKinney would ever be a real drain on Dem. votes, but who does the Green Party think they are helping?
Jerry Writes:

"Maybe she should move to new York and run for Hillary's seat if by some act of god she wins the White House.  New Yorkers deserve no less....."

LOL!!!  Please Jerry don't inflict us NY'rs with the likes of this woman!  Haven't we suffered enough with 9-11?
Are we kidding here, this is just a slow news day story with out real valididity. Who cares, we are not amused. I think I'll walk my dog. Did we all watch bush today? He was at the top of his lame duckness game, joking about retaining power, and his great love for Puttie, how pathetic, how sad trying to stay pertinent. Hey George like Gomer Pyles sargent says, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU"!
Mike - Hate to break it to you, but you DID vote for the Republican when you voted for Nader.  You may not have checked the box or pulled the lever but it was a vote for Bush no matter how you look at it.
Someone should tell this woman to stay off drugs!
If Ms. McKinney had not let her enormous ego get the best of her, the incident she had in DC never would have happened.

As for her being a candidate for the Green Party, more
power to her.  Ralph Nader does not need to run for any office ever again!!!!!!

                                         hhher.
