Paul's M.D. Background Shines

Posted: Sunday, October 21, 2007 8:33 PM by Chuck Todd

From NBC's Chuck Todd
Ron Paul's background as a doctor came through in his answer on health care. I bet his last line -- about how medicine is one of the few areas where technological gains have raised the prices, not lowered them -- really resonated.

Thank you for the comment, Chuck.
My video stream on the network carrying the debate is not working other than the commercials beforehand, so your post is the first personal reaction I've seen. The only other reporting is about the shallow spats by the "top-tier" candidate. I'm glad to hear the Ron Paul is trying to focus on the questions and not the other candidates.
Amen, they hardly let him talk. I think this is the first time I heard him talk about healthcare in the debates.
Good Point - imagine if tech could lower the costs - why not?
I would agree with your statement, Chuck.  I'd take it a step further and assert that Ron Paul is the only candidate (Dem or Rep) with any real "experience" & credibility relating to health care concerns; and therefore, should be the only one allowed to comment or issue an opinion about it.
I felt Ron Paul REALLY knew what he was talking about. It really felt like he spoke the truth rather than a buch of rhetoric.
Absolutely!  Great point.
Ron Paul is a Doctor - he has the best experience on this issue, and he follows the constitution - what can be better than that? The man is perfect to represent the people in this country, and you can be sure he has my vote.
Yes. You're correct Chuck. Thank you (and the establishment/mainstream media) for a rare, relatively positive comment regarding Ron Paul.

Being a physician himself, Paul's point about technology raising, not lowering, the price of health care does indeed resonate and is particularly credible.
It's is an obvious point to raise. Yet in this field of CFR pre-scripted candidates (Romney, McCain, Giuliani, Thompson)  it comes across as a shining moment of brilliance and acumen and that's the sad state to which the electoral process has descended in America.

Ron Paul sounds as though he actually thinks about what he's saying, sounds as though he has actually thought through and considered his positons on the issues.
He says what he believes based on his knowledge and experience. It comes across as honest, not pre-screened or scripted. That's what people are hungry for. That's what the American people deserve.
