Rudy rooting for the Red Sox

From NBC's Mark Murray
Say it ain't so, Rudy. That's at least what Yankee fans have to be saying right now. While campaigning in Boston today, Giuliani -- a diehard Yankees fan -- said he'll be rooting for the Red Sox in their World Series match-up with the Colorado Rockies, the AP reports. His reason: He supports the American League.

But did he give that answer because he was campaigning in Boston? Or because he's trying to get votes in New Hampshire, which is mostly Red Sox country? He replied that he isn't pandering. "In Colorado, in the next week or two, you will see, I will have the courage to tell the people of Colorado the same thing, that I am rooting for the Red Sox in the World Series," he said.

Now I've heard everything!
Yankee rooting for the red sox is like Cowboys rooting for the eagles. You know that is fake.
As a radical supporter of the First Amendment, I have opposed censoring even the most provocative and distasteful materials.
I do not support anything Rush Limbaugh has ever said, and my own opinion of the man as a human being is quite low.  No, he should neither be censored by the government nor the media.  But anyone who listens to him for "facts" does has not earned and do not deserve the rights and privileges of American citizenship.

This vanreuter character comes blasting on this board with his biased facts as if he were the Word come down.  Like Limbaugh, he cries when his judgment or intelligence is questioned, bleats and blares his acid in whatever direction he pleases.  Like Limbaugh, he is wind tunnel.

If that is what people want to read on a political blog on Monday morning...well, I think you know my opinion.

Maybe someday vanreuter will have his own radio show where he gets to make fun of others and scream foul at every challenge.

Until then, I'll be waiting, listening, but no longer reading First Read, what was once one of the best political blogs online.

Best wishes to all who linger here.

Listen to the silence of all those who have left.

Go back to the Bronx, Rudy. The Red Sox don't need your support.

--A true Red Sox fan
In yankee land - it would be called being a traitor !!
Ho Hum, another boring story about baseball tied to the elections, I quess politics is a game. Rudy likes girls baketball but can't come out of the sports closet. Well, when will we hear from fred and mitt and their team picks. It is so much better not having a political dicourse on a political site.
I've now lost all respect for that man. How can a self-proclaimed Yankees fanatic even DREAM about supporting the Red Sox?
If Rudy wants to be seen as the front-runner he should stop pandering to local, New Hampshire interests and focus on states that are going to be competitive in the general election. States like, oh, I don't know...COLORADO?
Hillary is rooting for who ever her internal polling tells her to root for.  So she doesn't offend the other team, she's also offering $5000 bonds and tax breaks to each member of that team.
Well Rudy didn't support or even ackowledge any of the people who died in the aftermath of 9/11 cleaning up the mess.  So it comes as no surprise he runs when and where it suits him best.

Christians please note - Rudy will even have more wives than Liz Taylor had husbands.
I think it's ridiculous.  If you're a true Yankee fan, you root for any team BUT the Red Sox.  Personally, I'd rather see the Red Sox lose than the Yankees win.  Ugh...what a phony he is.
It's a no brainer to figure out why the pandering here;
Colorado is already a red state, Massachessetts is a blue state with a Democratic Governor, two nationally prominent Democratic Senators, and a predominantly Democratic Congressional Delegation.
This, (ha ha) perhaps more than anything else is an indication of just how low Giuliani will stoop to try and get himself into The White House.
REAL New Yorkers, and TRUE Yankee fans would NEVER, EVER pull for The Boston Red Sox to win a World Series under any circumstances!
This proves once and for all what a FAKE, PHONEY, FRAUD Gigolo Rudy 'G' really is!
This is like a Tarheel pulling for a Blue Devil, it just doesn't happen.....For people who don't know UNC vs. Duke
