Iraq/Iran: Here come the sanctions

The Washington Post broke the news. “The Bush administration plans to roll out an unprecedented package of unilateral sanctions against Iran today, including the long-awaited designations of its Revolutionary Guard Corps as a proliferator of weapons of mass destruction and of the elite Quds Force as a supporter of terrorism, according to senior administration officials… The new sanctions will empower the United States to financially isolate a large part of Iran's military and anyone inside or outside Iran who does business with it, U.S. officials said. The measures could affect hundreds of foreign companies by squeezing them to drop Iranian business or risk U.S. sanctions.”

The New York Times adds that this “is the first time that the United States has taken such steps against the armed forces of any sovereign government.” Per NBC’s Libby Leist, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson will appear jointly today at 9:00 am ET to announce the sanctions.

The New York Times also front-pages Giuliani’s foreign policy advisers, who include a Who’s Who of prominent neoconservatives. “Mr. Giuliani’s team includes Norman Podhoretz, a prominent neoconservative who advocates bombing Iran ‘as soon as it is logistically possible’; Daniel Pipes, the director of the Middle East Forum, who has called for profiling Muslims at airports and scrutinizing American Muslims in law enforcement, the military and the diplomatic corps; and Michael Rubin, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute who has written in favor of revoking the United States’ ban on assassination.”

More: “Based on his public statements, Mr. Giuliani does not share all of their views and parts company with traditional neoconservative thinking in some respects. But their presence has reassured some conservatives who have expressed doubts about Mr. Giuliani’s positions on issues like abortion and gun control, and underscored his efforts to cast himself as a tough-minded potential commander in chief.”

As we've been saying for weeks now, Iran is the new Iraq in the Democratic primary. The Washington Post's Balz goes through the disputes between Clinton and the rest of her opponents and notes the struggles that Obama, in particular, is having in getting traction on this issue -- since he both supported a similar resolution earlier this year and then didn't vote on Lieberman-Kyl.

and, oh yes, that price for oil went up to $92 a barrel yesterday, right after those sanctions were formally announced.Economists say they would have to reach $100 a barrel to equate with the prices in the '70's, adjusting for inflation. I hope everyone received a cost of living raise this year. All those pennies will be needed pretty soon.(Best to keep an eye on Russia on this one, they control the fuel market in a large part of Europe now and they have a very vested interest in Iran. We'll  have to wait and see if they are playing a game of bluff or double bluff.
I had a visit from an angel with a sword last night who told me how our party can win.
1. Put a red candle in your window facing east and light it on the night of the full moon.
2. Go to the store and buy a pork chop, something nice like a center cut, go outside and stand in front of the window with the red candle, face east and wave the pork chop over your head while chanting  "all goats, sheep and cows ,turn into pork".
3. After the candle has burned down, bury the pork chop and melted wax from red candle in a dung heap.
In three days all meat animals in the middle east will turn to the 'other white meat' and the people in these countries will have to eat pork or starve.
Also, we must change the constitution so that our glorious leader can run again and again till he gets it right. we also must pray that the VP's health gets worst so that our faitful leader can pick someone else for that job before the election, God wants it to be Newt who has a direct phone line to Dr. Dobson who talks to heaven every hour. After that we must arrest every american who is not a republican and adopt their children to be brought up by our own kind. Burn every church that is not in the fold after filling them with sexual deviates and scientists who are the evolutionists strongest supporters. No more books to be written ever, no more movies except those that portray the lives of the saints and Jesus. We are at war with the secularists and Our glorious leader and future saint George will support 'OUR' holy war. Paint a red cross on your chest so that we can recognize each other. No more peace till heaven is obtained.
And if you doubt that Russia won't use that fuel oil leverage, remember how the nationalized their oil companies and cut off gas to Georgia and Bulgaria when they felt those two countries were not acting in Russia's interest.
Oh yes, another part of the equation is Communist China. Our economy is  intertwined and we owe a huge amount of money to them.Communist China will not be supporting thes sanctions.
Push that envelope and you get the New World Order.
Many years ago I attended a junior college in the midwest.  To my surprise I discovered that there were foreign students attending the same college even in the middle of the corn belt.  Two Iranian students in particular became very good friends.  They were much welcome members of my study group.

Our group did everything together.  We met at each others houses for backyard barbeques and bull sessions.  We took the same classes, prepared for the same exams, and sympathized with each other over the results.  The two Iranians were good friends.

Then Iran took the hostages.  My two friends prepared to return home, but before they left they stopped by to say good-bye.  They told us that they were very happy to have met us and that our friendship was of value to them.  Because of this, they were sure that the blessings they would receive from Allah would be immense when they put aside their personal feelings of caring and respect and returned to slaughter every one of us down to the last infant.

How does diplomacy deal with individuals who would kill you because they liked you?  How does tolerance and forebearance handle those who believe that if they die while destroying us that they will be greatly rewarded?  How do you face down anyone who excuses their own poor behavior by convincing themselves that they are acting on God's orders?

All I do know is that I waited for this war to break out for more than twenty-five years.  Desert Storm was the beginning.  Making friends and establishing friendly trade agreements aren't going to take away the danger.  Our political leaders may be human, and they may make mistakes, but they are ours and in the face of the world I will support them. It beats hiding under the bed.
Oh, lookie here, Putin has just announced that those European missile sites we say we need in Europe to counter an attack by Iran are considered comparable to the Cuban missile crisis.
That Cuban missile crisis, now I remember that well . Started in October, right around this time. Oh my, what day is today? Ah, October 26,2007.
Just remember who has control of the red buttons. Bluffs and double bluffs.Back then we had emergency alarms in school and got under our desks. What do we do now? Shut our mouths with duct tape? Both were ineffectuall..
Went to the world with proof back then. World told us, we trust you don't need proof.World doesn't see us the same way now. A lot of unity , by the world, after 9/11 has since been lost. What happened? Oh, I forgot we went to war with Iraq.
Pushing that envelope.President bush is no Jack Kennedy, so we shall see.

Bush regime is almost over.
Guliani is a Zionist supporter that equals to more war in middle East.
Hilary is even worse than Guliani.

Vote for Ron Paul or for third party. I say LIBERTARIANS. Let's kick out all Zionist nazi fascist neocons in our "leadership."
And Sally, if you welcome this war, you may want to ask your neighbor if they have a left-over bunker, from the '60's, in their backyard. Back then we also had RFK who sought for cooler heads. Today all we have is Papa Bush and his New World Order.
And Sally, steve and the rest of the mark theimes's take duct tape and plastic sheeting with you. Highly recommended by Homeland Security.Good luck. You  all will need it.
Hmmmmm. Then explain this.

UK Telegraph Feb.19,2006:''Iranian Fatwa Approves Use Of Nuclear Weapons''

Iran-Press Service Feb.20,2006:''Iranian Cleric Okays Nuclear Weapons Use''.

All it takes is one guy on the trigger.
Israel has a hand in this.  How can that go unmentioned here?
