How rare is it?

From NBC/NJ's Matthew E. Berger
For the past few days, I have been defending Rudy Giuliani on the whole Yankees-Red Sox thing. I am a die-hard Yankees fan myself and have been known to travel to New York in October if I can find a ticket. I never root for the Red Sox, but my father does. He's an American League fan, he says, and roots for the American League team in the World Series. I distinctly remember watching the Mets-Red Sox series in 1986. I was rooting for the Mets because my friends were Mets fans (I was 8, after all); he was rooting for the Red Sox, but neither of us were happy about it.

He even rooted for them in 2004, while I backed the Cardinals, because my college roommate is from St. Louis, and I spent a lot of time around Cardinals paraphernalia.

So while the New York tabloids berated Rudy this week, I gave him a pass. If it's good enough for my dad, it's good enough for a presidential candidate. So what if he is campaigning in Boston when he says it, or is talking to Red Sox fans in New Hampshire all day? Maybe he and my dad are cut from the same cloth.

But today I called my father, and he said he just couldn't do it anymore. After the blowout Wednesday night, he changed his tune. He can't back Ortiz and Manny; it makes him sick in his stomach. His loyalty to the American League is surpassed by his hatred of the Red Sox.

So is Rudy just more loyal to the AL than my dad? Or is he more loyal to New Hampshire voters? You be the judge.

Go Rockies!!!

The Rangle proposal would be the biggest tax increase in US history.  Hang on to your wallets folks, it's going to be an expensive ride.  And this is without the extra $200 billion a year Hillary's proposed programs would cost us.  Of course Nancy, Harry, Hillary, and Charlie know better how to spend the money we all earn.

What's really surprising is that the Democrats don't even bother to wear a mask when they hold us up.

Your right give him a pass. But isn't this another example of a non news issue taking presidence over the political news?
The shifting baseball loyalties of Rudy and Hillary give insights into their characters.   They both will say and do anything to get elected.  Rudy will be pro-choice when it benefits him and then nominate a judge like Scalia when it benefits him.  Hillary will support Iraq when Bush is popular, and then oppose it when Bush is not popular.  Obama is loyal to his White Sox even when they are having a bad year and their cross town rivals, the Cubs, made the playoffs.  Not surprisingly, he was against the war when it was popular.  I think there is a correlation between loyalty in baseball and pricipled political decision making.
Hillary spends our money so well.....

Giving a billionaire a $1 million dollar earmark, in exchange for a campaign contribution shows how she does business.
RKA, IL:  I agree with you 100%.  Obama is the only one who is consisient in his answers.  If people want TRUTH out of Washington, they will vote for him.
Is this MSNBC or ESPN? I feel like I get more updates about baseball. . .and now families of reporters.  . .than I do news. No wonder we say our electorate isn't informed. Guess I'll start checking the Political Ticker a little more.
Lighten up a little, guys!  There is life outside of politics!
"The Rangle proposal would be the biggest tax increase in US history."

How many of you on this blog earn mor than $500,000 a year, individually now, not corporate.  If you don't, your taxes would go down.  If you do, you can afford to help the country which made you wealthy.

As for corporate, their taxes actually go down under this proposal, from 35% to 30%.

Doesn't sound too bad to me, but then I'm not a wealthy republican too selfish to share.
GO ROCKIES!
I say, equal taxes for every dollar earned. If you make $100.00 dollars you pay the same amount of taxes as the rich guy or the poor guy, or the middle guy. Throw out all the tax codes and make everybody pay the same percentage for every dollar earned. This includes everyday people and corporations and small businesses. why not  al womack clackamas, oregon
Enough about this stupid stuff and who they route for!  I repeat my comment I listed earlier:  Why isn't the media all over this????  Where are all the Presidential candidates, especially Hillary Clinton since she represents New York and why aren't they commenting on the New York Governor's plan to issue driver's licenses to illegal immmigrants?  Not to mention that the voting commission now said they don't have to ask for a social security number when they vote anymore, that a driver's license is sufficient.  Voter fraud anyone?  And please don't tell me I'm a racist.  I just don't think anyone who is already breaking the law by being here illegally should be allowed to have the privilege of getting a driver's license or above all, being allowed to VOTE!  We should all remember that driver's licenses are also used to get on airplanes!  Where is the Federal Government on this one?  In New Jersey we need to show 6 different things to prove we are from New Jersey and Legally!  I can't believe not one person who is running for President has addressed this issue!  I am very disappointed!!!
Jerry what about the $2.4 trillion snorted up Bush's nose? I suppose that your perspective is infected by the contempt you have for anything Hillary.

Todd is finally showing that if and when it suits the Repubs running for President that changing loyalties are only bad when it's Democrat...surprised I am not!
Agree w/RKA & Connie ... Rude-y is a WEASAL & Hillary only somewhat more paletteable.  *No* Yankees fan ever roots for the smelly Sox NO MATTER WHAT.  Obama is the only one showing consistency.
Loyalty to one's League is definitely an acceptable -- and common -- practice.  I'm torn by my dislike of the BoSox and my longheld belief that teams that are younger than me shouldn't be in the World Series (or the Super Bowl) -- at least not until the Indians & the Browns (and the Cubs?) win it...  Unlike those who posted comments on the website, I think it's instructive to know what candidates think of the real issues of the day -- the dh, the size of the strike zone, instant replay, the balk, etc.
