From NBC's Chuck Todd and NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann
NBC News has confirmed that the Iowa Democratic Party's state central committee will meet -- by conference call -- on Sunday at 9:00 pm ET to vote on the date to hold the Democratic caucuses.

The buzz is that the Democrats there will pick January 3, the same date Iowa Republicans have selected. But we won't know until the state central committee votes.

*** Update *** Per Iowa Democratic Party spokeswoman Carrie Giddins, on Sunday's call, the party chairman will recommend that the committee members vote to move the caucus date to January 3rd, NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann reports.

The Iowa Democratic Party will send out the official release announcing the meeting at 3:00 pm ET today.

There are approximately 50 people on the state central committee. Also, it is safe to say that the date will be decided definitively by the end of that call on Sunday.

Why bother picking a date? It seems that the MSM has already crowned her majesty Hillary the de facto Dem. candidate!  The bias is disgusting!  She's horrible!  I hate her!
What are the prospects for the DNC allowing them to move up to Jan. 3rd without sanctions?  I thought they were going to wait to hear back from the DNC before deciding on a date.
Sounds to me like the dems need a "Decider."
I'm sure the Clintons errrrr, the people will decide a date.
Heck, why pick some arbitrary date?  Just do it now and get over with.
Regardless of illegal actions is taken by the clinton machine and their cronies with support from MSM, power still belong to the people...
The sooner we can declare Hillary the democratic candidate, the sooner more people can let it sink in that she'll be the next president.  I can't wait!!!
I'm so ready for the democrats to have the majority so things can get done again.  It seems to me like the only things accomplished with an all Republican majority (president and both houses owned the branches for the first 4 years of Bush's term) were to approve wars paid for and fought by the poor and tax cuts for the wealthy.  Bush was so concerned about our energy dependence that he saw fit to give business owners huge tax credits for buying Humvees!!!  That guy is a genius.
We will have a Republican president if Hillary is the Democratic nominee. However, she sounds more & more like George Bush all the time
It will sure be funny if early voting states become irrelevant when their chosen candidates fall to the wayside 4 months from now and the later voting states decide the party nominee.
Nobody is buying the republican scare tactics anymore.  If argue that if you nominate Hillary you guarantee a republican president?  You make that argument because she are scare that Hillary can't be beat by any candidates you have in your line up and you are right.  STATISTICS SHOW that Hillary is drawing more people (over 50 % of republican and independents and even a third of republicans would vote for her if the election was held today) and more money to her campaign all the time and in polls matching her against Guiliani (the leading Republican candidate) her winning margin is almost 10% if an election was held today and that number has increased over the last 6 months, not decreased.  And the argument that she's sounding more like Bush all the time is the most absurd thing I've heard.  Republicans argued how different from the Clintons Bush would be and they were right...........it's MUCH WORSE.  But now because Bush has grown increasingly unpopular you now argue that Hillary is too much like Bush to be elected in hopes of dragging her down in the toilet with him.  You have to actually make up your mind before you can make an argument.  Try to work past your talking points to actually substantiate your claims because the public percieves that REPUBLICAN = LIAR and they just aren't listening to your rhetoric anymore.
Republican might equal liar, but the dems stand for weakness and cry-babies. I'll take the lair any day over a group that complains and complains, yet claims the govn't can run things more efficiently than businesses... none of the dem canidates could run a business, or proabbly even hold a job other than politics for 4 years. They are lazy. (and weak)
I would prefer all the states get together and move the dates closer together and closer to the summer.  I don't think that will happen.  There have been several suggestions that these primaries go into rotation or that all do it at once.
Pat O, Medford, MA: '... none of the dem canidates could run a business, or proabbly even hold a job other than politics for 4 years. They are lazy. (and weak)...'

Maybe we need a STRONG President to lead us into Iran, Pat.
4 more years of little king george, pat?
He'd lead us against Iran !!
Who are you people that like Hillary so much? Where does the media find these people? I don't know ANYONE who likes Hillary. I worked for the DNC here in my state. I've raised money canvasing all around my area and everyone I've met, who's decided at least, likes Barack Obama or John Edwards. This Hillary "IS" the nominee stuff is BS. Hillary ain't Bill. Granted I loved the 90's and Bill is heck of a lot better than Dubya', but it's time for change not more Dynasties. I'm voting for Obama. Don't let us down Iowa. Vote for Obama!
It is my Hope that the voter's of Iowa lead the way in the Destruction of this 2 family stranglehold of AMERICAN politic's. This country already knows it wants no more of the bushes. That leaves only the clintons, to be done away from the Power. Voter's of Iowa, lead us into a new begining, because if we leave these 2 familys in charge ANY longer, Our country will become a total loss after over 200 years. Just look at the decisiveness(sp) that has been brought on AMERICAN politics by these 2 family's. AMERICA  cannot survive these dictator's. Thanking the Voter's in IOWA in advance.
I keep hearing how popular Hillary is and yet I have never met one single person who would vote for her.... I am involved with many social groups and plan to vote Democrat...
Pat O,

Let me guess, you a business owner worried that you won't be able to buy another lexus or that summer home in Lake Geneva next year if the democrats take over?  The republicans I've known who would be narrow-minded enough to call ALL democrats lazy are the ones who own businesses, sit on their fat asses while they work their employees to death, give them few or no benefits, little quality time away from work to be with their families, are stingy each year with their employees raises, stroke their own egos constantly about how brilliant they are to run a business so effeciently and forget about anyone who ever helped them get where they are.   They are strictly worried about their pocketbook and themselves.  How is that for generalization?  I would rather be catagorized as lazy and weak (at least God would understand lazy and weak) than a lying greedy bastard who would step on anyone to get another dollar.
For the sake of the nation I hope Hitlery is the nomonee being that she is the most likely to be defeated by a decent republican candidate preferably Ron paul or John Mc cain
Give me a break David...have you been living under a rock lately? Or maybe if you would have watched a debate or two you would feel as most of us do?..That Hillary is not Bill and that she is has the best chance to win next November. I fail to see what your problem with her would be if you're truly one of us, unless you buy into the crap that our enemies on the Right say about her?

And Obama might have my vote if he would at least "try" to earn it for a change?
Hillary will win over Dems...once Obama gets creamed......if somehow Obama wins the nomination, all those Jesse Helms Dems will vote against him(and there are plenty of conservative dems, NC has more Dems then Republicans, but they are conservative dems).

Face it, Hillary is the DEMS ONLY shot at winning the White House...Obama is just another Edwards(when Edwards ran first for President)  I got a feeling Edwards will be running every 8 years for president.  He was a disgrace to NC as a senator.
Isn't there at least one candidate out there who has the vision and wisdom to start the reformation that this country needs and deserves?  Isn't it possible that America could be a self-sufficient, sovereign nation that other nations actually want to emulate?
Hey David from Tacoma WA - here I am a 'Hillary Lover' and guess what I'm from your state.  PLEASE just give her a chance - she is what it is all about.  Plus Hillary has the machince in place that when the general election comes out they will be able to dicount any surge they try to put on her (you remember Kerry and the swift boat ads - that sunk him) - the same thing could happen to Barrack.  Let's have both Hillary and Barrack - just wait til 2016 for Barrack - he will have the experience then to run the country.
Hillary scares the Rush republicans. They went after Bill so hard for eight years, then they caught him with a question that should have never been asked. Sex with Monica was between two consenting adults not my business not theirs, But they had to keep the county in an uproar over pettiness, Hillary is too smart for them she has learned over the years to tie up the loose ends, also she is in touch with the Americans that need her. Capitol hill is so out of touch that they think we are stupid If they would have supported Bill our economy would be in a much better posion in the world now, I think its time for a woman in the White House that learns from her mistakes and cares about the little people in our country.
Now i know democratic party has no spine. They are going to follow this lunatics' party to the same caucus date
This would have major repercussions on the NH primary which is now more likely to go in January. Read why: http://www.campaigndiaries.com/2007/10/calendar-news-iowa-dems-pick-date-while.html
The new commercials in Iowa are awful. Airy platitudes about "America is back!" do nothing but make Barak sound like a typical politician.

If he can't say what everyone is saying about how he  is different than Hillary, and can't draw distinct differences with the Republican contenders who all are laying a path to war with Iran -- than he is not an honest or tough enough leader.

If can't inject some substance into his ads (heck, do a flip chart like Perot), than how can he say he has good ideas or enough experience.

If he can't describe how a knock-down drag out fight between Hillary and Guliani or Romney would be terrible for this country -- as opposed to an Obama vs. McCain or even Huckabee discussion...then he loses.

I am voting for him and donating to him no matter what, but I'd hate to see a couple things like this continue to slow his campaign.

I supported Dean and just a couple key mistakes like this thrashed his chances. Gore and Kerry lost for the simple reason that they couldn't sound like normal human beings. (BTW Barak sounds great in casual conversation but like a typical pol pretending to be a leader when he tries to "project" his words.

I just don't want to be disappointed again -- or see thousands of supporters let down again. Cripes, hire Donny Deutch of BigIdea or the Burger King commercial guys and you'd get better results.
I wish that the Primary system would be redone and that all states would vote o the same day in a "General Primary" and there crown both party nominees at the same time. Generally speaking, Iowa and New Hampshire are not a general consensus of the United States, and they are more conservative than most of the Democratic States. New Hampshire has only turned "Blue" in 2004 and Iowa went "Red" in 2004. Anyways...Vote Hillary. She is the one that can make history and rewrite it at the same time.
What I don't understand is people saying "Hillary is not electable." Well, George Bush was not electable, he just got more votes, well, the second time anyway.

Besides, if you don't vote for the Democrat you will get more of the same from this crowd of Republicans. Wars with Iran and Economic Woes. Also, vote straight Democratic to insure a stronger Democratic majority so they can get some legislation passed. Hillary would not veto such measures as the SCHIP.
Stop it...you guys are killing me...the reps are skeert of the skirt...none of their little boys can muster even a fraction of interest from the small fraction of americans who care about the republicans...mitt is a member of a religious cult and a serial flip flopper...rudy is a serial cheater..john is shrub jr...ron, fred and the rest are just that, the rest, though freddie has a nice looking daughter, er wife
I gotta say...none of you ask what Hillary has done for NY. now I live in the republican majority of Upstae Western NY, and guess what? We really want to hate hate her but there is just one problem...she's been the best Senator we've had for fightinh for our agricultural and economic problems. Turned Canandaigua NY into a viable tourist economy, saved our VA hospital, and got us $$$ for small business owners, oh and an ethonal plant...and a lot more, really is sux to say it but she has been one hell of a champ for us....gotta give her the vote.
What ARE the Democrats thinking of? If Hillary Clinton is the nominee, the Republicans will win. I am a Democrat, and I, too, know almost no Democrats who like her or who will vote for her (I know exactly two). Everyone else I know has said the will not vote for her, and many of us plan to change our registrations to Independent if she gets the nomination. Why do the Dems have a death wish when it comes to nominating a candidate?

If you want to talk statistics & polls, then John Edwards is the one who consistently outperforms both Obama & Clinton when matched head to head against the Republicans. Even many Republicans that I know like Edwards and some would vote for him. Same with Independents.

Hillary Clinton simply cannot win the general election, no matter how much money she has behind her. And she is not Bill, and we will not get Bill as a co-president, despite wishful thinking, if she is elected.
All the right wing radical republicans have no original ideas but to keep attacking Hilary. Thier last debate was so lousy that they keep saying lower tax..but no new ideas on how to pay for the tax or insure more people.
HERE are the polls that really count:

"Quinnipiac has just released a new Florida general election poll and it looks VERY good for John Edwards. Not only is Edwards tied with Rudy Giuliani for the best favorable rating, he more than doubles Senator Clinton's average lead over the Republicans, and his average lead is 6 times that of Senator Obama's."

This polling data is not unique to Florida; time & time again Edwards, in poll after poll matching Dems against Repubs, beats both Clinton & Obama. Not only in this Quinnipiac poll, but in Survey USA & Rasmussen.

If the Dems want to win, they'd better pay attention to this set of data, and forget about how well Clinton does in Democrat-only polls. The general election is not just a Democratic voting event.

But, on the other hand, if they want to lose yet another general election, well they can vote the way the pundits tell them, and nominate Hillary. That will ensure another loss. I'm convinced the Dems have a death wish when it comes to nominating a presidential candidate.
Why should democrat decide for the polling date in Iowa. MSNBC and other media already decided that Hillary Clinton will be their nominee. Lets media decide who will be our next president. We don’t need to go to vote and no need to spend millions of dollars our tax money.

If Obama wins Iowa then these pundits should go home and never show their face again in future.
Last month I went to the Bloomsburg county fair in PA and tried to find out who is their candidate. I couldn't find a singel democrat who is going to vote for Hillary. Not sure who are people that like Hillary so much? Where does the media find these people?
