Paul’s ad push

Posted: Friday, October 26, 2007 11:58 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
On the heels of a St. Anselm College poll showing Ron Paul in fourth place with 7 percent in New Hampshire, the candidate is starting to spend some of those millions he’s raised with radio ads and an upcoming TV ad. But Paul is also stepping up efforts in direct mail. The campaign put together a 12-page biographical pamphlet being mailed out in New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Presidential Watch blog reports, “The mailing comes at the same time that Ron Paul will spend $1 million on five New Hampshire television commercials.”

Paul has also spent $430,000 on a new radio ad, which will run in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and Nevada. The 60-second ad, an appeal to New Hampshire independents, mentions Paul’s name 11 times and focuses on conservative principles of spending, foreign policy and taxes and mentions “flip-flopping” Republicans and Bill Clinton.

The campaign had an online fund-raising push to try and pay for the ad. This from a Paul blog post on Tuesday and its Fundraising Director Jonathan Bydlak: “You raised $403,059.21 during the last three days for broadcasting our new radio ad in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and Nevada. Thank you! This set an impressive pace, and keeps us well on our way to our fourth quarter goal of $12,000,000!”

$12 million? This quarter? Now that would be something. Bet Huckabee wishes he could tap into some of that?

should be about 800 posts for Ron paul after this story.
Wow, a campaign ad that mentions the candidate's name several times!!

Paul also mentions Bill Clinton!  By coincidence I was just reading the Will/Clicked blog where Will wondered "how long after Bush's departure Democrats will try to score points with his unpopularity."
I replied, at least as long as the Republicans do so with Bill Clinton and probably double that.
Ross Perot comes to mind.
Who would be Paul's VP?

Given Paul is 73 ,his VP may be more important than himself
Just watch Ron Paul take off in NH. His biggest problem is noone has heard him yet. Why do you think liberals like Giulliani, Romney, Thompson, McCain are the front runners? Because they had a ton of free media exposure(Giulliani because of 9/11, Romney because of his millions, McCain because of his 2000 run, Thompson because of Law & Order).

Frankly if this race was based on who is a real conservative...it would be down to Ron Paul vs Tancredo vs Hunter. All the rest are RINOs(and yes that includes Huckabee, he may be a social conservative, but he is a horrible fiscal conservative, just go take a swim in a lake he had the state build right next to his house in order to raise it's value)

And if they did hear about him, they most likely were told lies about him...you know, calling him an isolationist when he is a non-interventionist, calling him a liberterian when he's been a Republican for 30 years, not letting him clarify that the reason he wants to close the CIA, is because he believes intelligence gathering should be the job of the army, and that him wanting to abolish the IRS, is not kooky at all, and that doing so will only mean we need to scale back our big government back to Year 2000 levels.

And there is more...frankly if I were to write out all the lies I heard about Ron Paul from the media, it would be a 30 page list.
The difference between Ron P and Ross P is RP seems to be sane. Jim Pool
Who is Ron Paul's VP?  Someone NOT in the Trilateral or Bilderberg secret society for sure.

Time to rid the U.S. gov't of these puppeters.

wiki these if you don't know .. please
Apparently the MSM is going to be surprised again by Dr. Paul.
On November 5th there will be a Money bomb on the official Ron Paul website www.ronpaul2008.com . They're trying to get 100,000 people to pledge $100 on 11/05/07. Like the movie "V for Vendetta" we trying to make a statement and bomb the website to help the campaign and bring change to America through a financial donation! The goal is to make history and give Ron Paul the highest 1 day campaign contribution ever, for a total of $10,000,000 in one day! Imagine the news coverage Ron Paul will get? This is crucial to the campaign and Ron Paul winning. It's our duty to help Ron Paul become our next president and bring about change! The official Ron Paul Money Bomb Pledge site is http://www.thisnovember5th.com/ if your interested sign the pledge and bomb away on 11/05/07. There is also another website which is for those who cant afford to donate $100 and that site is http://d212389.dn24.directnichosting.com/ Lastly, here  is a link to an article for the money bomb http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=50673 OH yeah almost forgot, Ron Paul will be a guest on Jay Leno's Tonight Show on October 30, 2007 check it out! Pass this on to your friends! REMEMBER, REMEMBER THE 5TH OF NOVEMBER! Go President Paul!!!!
I think the Red State ban is having a calming effect on RP posters -- no WOO HOOs or anything Deanish like that.

I would say that Mitt Romney is much more like Ross Perot than Ron Paul is -- both men funded their own campaigns.

At any rate, it's nice to see Dr. Paul getting some more MSM recognition -- let's hope that translates into better polling.  If he's being attacked now (a la Red State) polling at 7%, imagine what will happen when he passes McCain and catches up with Giuliani and Romney. . .
Ron Paul and his Campaign workers are doing a great job.  Glad to see he is doing some advertising.  The grassroots work being done will continue and is growing stronger everyday.  I believe the neo-cons are getting scared, just look at Thompson, he is actually mentioning the Constitution in Debates, now that was a first for any of the other Candidates, both Dems and Repubs, with the exception of Ron Paul.  He follows the Constitution and I really hope some of the other Candidates will start doing the same.
There are a lot of things about Ron Paul's campaign that the ol'Huckster wishes he had. Another one would be support from anyone outside the religious right.

Well, I'll get out of the way now so that the other few hundred people can comment.

Ever notice that whenever you actually do a story about Paul that isn't trashing him, or talking about how Romney came in second behind him... but not mentioning Paul won, that you actually get a lot of readers onto the site?

Huh, thats a weird coincidence isn't it? That could be because we are the only ones that actually care enough to read about this stuff this early... and I wonder why that is? Could be the message...
Ron Paul is the ONLY canidate that wants to get rid of the "patriot act".
Why would you vote for anyone that wants to listen to your conversations, monitor your bank accounts, read your emails etc etc tec. We are AMERICANS and we want to be free, therefore we are voting for RON PAUL!
Gotta laugh at the poster who called the other GOP canidates liberals... he appears to have missed the red state memo
After hearing Ron Paul's stance on the issues I would hope most will support him for president. It is a message of Freedom, Personal Responsibility and dependence, and a repeal of the police state laws that have turned this country on such a horrible path.
The Constitution is a document unlike any in the world, and if we would simply follow that document we would save ourselves countless problems and headaches.

Here is a video that is so very appropriate now days.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABKLirW24LE
It seems Dr Paul's campaign is one worth watching.  However, once he gains more exposure, the press will dig out embarrassing pix and movies from his past. (NO, WAIT, THAT WAS GIULIANI!!!!  please go to youtube and watch guiliani snuggle with pal Donald Trump while in drag, I kid you NOT!)
"$12 million? This quarter? Now that would be something. Bet Huckabee wishes he could tap into some of that?"

I'll bet Huckabee does wish he could raise that kind of money too.  Problem is he had no problem raising taxes and spending even more in Arkansas.  With the exception of Ron Paul, they, in both parties, are pro big government, and big spenders.  Most of them support the status quo in Iraq and war with Iran in the near future.

The value of the Dollar is falling like a rock, our current practice of spending more than we make can't go on much longer.
ron pauls VP would be a man named Doug Casey, can see him speak here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC-ZxzYneOQ
I saw Ron Paul on Fox News a few mornings ago.  The news anchors asked him serious questions about his proposals for abolishing gigantic government establishments like the IRS.  I was very impressed with his straightforward answers.
In his own words, he agreed quite readily that it would be insane to expect something like that to happen the moment somebody like him gets elected.  But what *would* happen, he explained, would be an immediate change to *any* discussion of taxes, expenditures, the proper role of government, etc.  He noted that many in Congress would stop to consider alternatives to our current direction if they saw that many people vote for a candidate like himself. :)
Dream on...the last thing this nation needs is another senile old republican in the white house..
Mr Paul doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell. End of story. Hes much LESS popular than Mr Perot.
I wish that the other candidate would be as open about their finances and spending as Ron Paul.  Every voter should be able to get a glimpse at a each candidates fiscal attitudes.

I'm sure most people would hesitate to vote for those candidates who spend their donations on expensive hotels, dinners and luxury travel.

Ron Paul's campaign is being managed as an example of how our country should be managed - with enthusiasm, hard work and well though-out prudent decisions.
Thanks for the story on Dr. Ron Paul, MSNBC.com.
Thank you, MSNBC for the coverage and for it not using the phrase "long-shot". :)
Yes, you're right about the $12M goal being quite lofty. I think it's safe to say though that the campaign's fourth quarter total will exceed the third quarter's.
It will be interesting to see what happenes on November 5th, the day for the one-day proposed en-masse donation to the campaign. Yes, it's a bit gimmicky like the one-day boycott of certain oil companies, but unlike that one, this one will make a unified statement of support.
By the way, to correct a previous post, I believe that Dr. Paul just turned 72. Even if he decides to be a one-term president, we will realize the benefits for years to come - and clean up some of the nastiness in political campaigns - by electing a president who will actually mean it when he pledges to uphold the Constitution.. instead of electing the candidate with the best sound bites and scariest negative campaign ads.
It's all about the message.
I don't care if you consider yourself a Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, libertarian, whatever. As Ron Paul has said "Labels divide us, Liberty unites us." We are all Americans and Ron Paul's message is as American as it gets - Peace, Prosperity and Freedom!
It's gotten so I can't keep up with the grassroots numbers. Last I looked it was over 60,000 volunteers actively working on the campaign, but that number changes every day. This all volunteer, unpaid army has to be worth millions of dollars that are not included in the millions Dr. Paul has already raised.
It's going to start getting really interesting starting next week. Not only will there be TV and radio ads, but Ron will be on the Jay Leno show Tuesday night.
It takes about 6 minutes for the average American to become an RP supporter, so watch his numbers explode after next Tuesday.
The snowball has started down the mountain. There's no stopping it now.
If you don't know about Ron Paul, here is a good bit of Ron Paul propaganda: http://www.ronpaulnation.com/tv.html#ron_paul_a_new_hope
If you don't believe he can raise 12 million by the end of the quarter just go to his website www.ronpaul08.com There's a realtime graphic that shows just how much he has raised this month. 2.25 million by Oct. 26 and there will be a big push to reach the $4 million goal for the month of October
Ron Paul will win NH if Hillary appears to be sure thing. The independants of NH wouldnt' waste their vote on Hillary if she is already 'confirmed' they would vote for Ron Paul.
If Obama can put up some numbers he might take the win from Ron Paul - I hope Obama wins over HRC but just not in NH!!!
I say, We're All for Paul!
For the people who automatically dismiss Paul because he is a Republican (who can blame you),  check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DueIGWpXjrU
Dream on dreamers.Mr Libertarian has NO CHANCE.
The truth is out. You cannot stop it!

Thanks for reporting MSNBC! Keep up the good work
@G. M. Palmer..you do realize the "woohoo" was a lie by redstate? Go read through some of old messages that were discussing Ron Paul. You will see that Ron Paul supporters would reply almost unilaterally with long paragraphs discussing each issue, trying to reason. And in return would get insulted and attacked for being Ron Paul supporters.

Its actually quite the opposite...the anti-Ron Paul people are the ones with 1 word answers...I'm not even going to link you to one specific thread..because this happens in almost every single Ron Paul thread on there. So go check it for yourself.

Example: A Ron Paul supporter would say somethign along the lines of: The Iraq war is bankrupting this nation and destroying our military. And in response you'll get something along the lines of "you broke it you bought it, surrender monkey, traitor, paul bot" etc

So go ahead look, and see that its the anti-paul people that are being rude and annoying.

Actually that brings me up to a good point...all this negativity towards Ron Paul and his supporters solely because of the anti-war position, will destroy the Republican party. I've been a Republican for 20 years, and if Ron Paul is not nominated I'll be supporting a 3rd party candidate...and after this election I'll be switching my affiliation...why? Because the party betrayed my trust, and I do not appreciate being insulted and attacked because of who I support, you think people will fall in line and support another Republican after they get attacked and insulted day in and day out? After their signs on their own property get ripped to shreds? After they get labeled insane by their own party, even though they support the core Republican position? We used to be the anti-war party...WTF happened? How can you be a fiscal conservative, and be willing throw away close to 3 trillion dollars getting bogged down in Middle east?(thats the estimated cost with the next 10 years)

Seriously go reread the GOP mission statement...(its a 10 point "I pledge to..." document on the gop website)...Ron Paul is the only candidate on that stage who is even close to all those values that this whole party was founded on.

Seriously I would think the GOP would be bending over backwards to get this man to win...because he is the only one capable of winning the general election, because he agrees with 75% of the country that is against the Iraq war...AND has a better record on it than any of the leading Democrats. Or how about the fact that he is the only candidate that is bringing fresh blood into the party? I mean seriously go to your local GOP meeting, the average age is close to 55. But no, instead they choose to criticize and insult him and his supporters.
Stop the Ron Paul BS.  We no there are 2-3 thousand supporters that keep dialing, internet voting, and blogging.  The gig is up and we know it's all a scam.  Do everyone a favor and go home and let the real people/candidates alone.
If not for the media censure("free media") and corporatist-funded whores like Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, Dominico Monetenaro and the rest of the Republicrat pimp-controlled media, Ron Paul's authentic message might REALLY be heard by the common folk who badly need to detoxify their little brains that have been highly contaminated by the constant lies, mistruths and deceptions methodically pumped from these "main stream"(democracy-manipulating, anti-We The People) pollutant machinery.

http://www.jonesreport.com/articles/150507_ron_paul_debate.html
On paper Paul is more conservative than Giuliani so I'm not sure why you Libs want him over Rudy.  The Neo-Cons don't care about social issues so Rudy's liberal views don't matter much as long as he takes foreign policy cues from them, which he's doing.  Not to mention they care more about beating Hillary.  Rudy might be a liberal but "he's our liberal" is the new GOP mantra.  He'll get the nod b/c winning is more important than anything else.  He'll grab a evangelical friendly VP so all is well in Elephant land. Hillary's Iran vote will turn off many peacenics so who will likely stay home.  Paul, Obama, and the rest need to pack it in, the stage is set.  What did Perot do?  He didn't win the nomination. What did Wesley Clark do? If Paul runs as an Independent, it's lights out fot the Dems, we know better than to vote Paul.
If the money bomb on Nov 5th meets the goal (and why wouldn't it, they only need 40,000 more people than the meetup groups alone hold) not only will the MSM take notice but I think Ron Paul would be instant front-runner for the GOP nomination. That amount would surpass his opponents totals and Mitt would have to loan himself another 30 million to keep up because he's not as frugal as Ron Paul. I think Hillary would start to worry too because she can't beat him on the two main issues of this election, Iraq and the economy. Then watch the attacks come from every angle from MSM to blogs to opponent campaign ads. They'll exhaust themselves trying to destroy the statesman and then in spite of them he'll be our next President. No more corporate handouts, no more 3rd party blackouts, no more excessive spending and war for anything other than self-defense. It is very bold of Ron Paul to put his life on the line for us (and mind you it is on the line because he is not a CFR member). We owe it to him to make this money bomb explode bigger and brighter than the fireworks on the 4th of July.
the thing that continues to intrigue me is that mr. paul actually appears to be who he says he is, and is quite comfortable with it, as far as I can tell he has never flip-flopped on one issue, not just during his presidential campaign but throughout his political history.
Ron Paul might not have enough media coverage, but he has Word of mouth publicity because he has the BEST message.
Unfortunately word of mouth doesn't travel fast enough, I'm glad he is running adds, because the news stations aren't reporting enough about him; on top of that they lie and minimize his message.
The U.S. Comptroller ( you know, the nations accountant? ) is traveling all over the country telling people about how we're going to be broke in 30 years, barely able to pay INTEREST on the debt we owe.  When that happens the dollar will default and people will be screaming, and here's the kicker : even if you voted for Hillary and got full-on communism in return, it still wouldn't fix the underlying cause of our impending collapse.  Ron Paul is an educated man and I would recommend anyone to read his writings.  With understanding we may come to appreciate what some of us find joy in ridicule.  The state of our democracy is in serious trouble and we treat this with the seriousness of a football game.  Well its time to change teams.
Seems money talks and the MSM responds eh?  I finally understand why those grumpy GOPers call them "the elitist" media.

It takes a lot more effort to find something wrong with the message RP is sending out, than to bash his policies.  His general approach during this campaign is one of love (as we can see in his clever rEVOLution posters).  What does love have to do with politics??  Everything, and more.

It was Gandhi who said "Those who believe spirituality has no place in politics do not know the true meaning of spirituality."  He was referring to spirituality, and not religion, as a politician's guide for action.  Let all one's actions as a politician be motivated by love, and let a politician realize that we are ALL connected (e.g. bombs dropping in Iraq affect educational policy in Nebraska, affects jobs in Florida, etc).  This leads to a healthy, unified country that the rest of the world respects and tries to emulate.  How 'bout this model as the project for a new American century?
That's great. But, who listens to the radio?
Ron Paul is the only man who can change the horrific direction this country is headed!!! If you enjoy you civil liberties then we need to unite and vote RON PAUL President 2008!!!!! Wake up people!!!!
And this massive seven-figure ad push does not even include the ads coming from several grassroots PACs which have been set up to support Dr. Paul. This includes literally THOUSANDS of TV ad runs.
I've been involved in NH politics nearly all my life and I have not seen anything like this here since Reagan '79. :)

JM
Ron Paul Is a true conservative republican, you can see this by his flawless voting record in congress. It's time for change!!Please look him op on youtube.com He will restore America's values!!! Ron Paul 2008!!
Ron Paul is the only candidate who wants to reduce the size and scope of the federal government and return power to the states and individual Americans. Go Ron Paul! You've got my $100 coming your way Nov. 5th.
It always surprises me when people think libertarians are crazy. What does that mean about the people who think we're crazy? To me, it means they accept government control rather than having the freedom to do what they want to do. Lefties want control of the economy to redistribute wealth, righties want control of societal norms. Both spend without limits. Neither seem to care that force is required for either or both positions. Since capitalism provides opportunity UNTIL you get politicians granting favors and setting standards and personal liberty provides peace and promotes responsibility and goodwill UNTIL you get politicians legislating their morality upon you, libertarianism is clearly the fairest, most just form of governance. You'll notice I said libertatrianism rather than anarchism. They are not the same, for libertarians accept government having the role of protection of the individual from infringement of rights by others aas well as the defense against aggressors (force and fraud, invasion, etc.)

Think, America. The nation you inherit is only worth what you put into it.
Ron Paul has mentioned Mark Sanford of South Carolina would be a good choice.  I never heard about Ron Casey?  Mark Sanford is a libertarian leaning constitution upholding Republican.  He gained some national media acclaim a few years back when he brought in two piglets and let them loose to run through the chamber with Pork and Barrel draped over their sides = D
Don't forget Ron Paul supporters, if you had more than $100 set to go to Ron Paul on Nov 5th, drop some of that before Oct 31 to reach the 4 million dollar mark. Then when the bomb hits no one in the MSM can say a previous goal was not met.
It's our country and we're taking it back. Ron Paul is the people's choice for freedom and liberty. All it takes is visibility and our donations make that possible. Give as much as you can and give often!
Mitt would be a good VP. He has a handle on operational things. Richard Lugar might work.. Paul has to get the nomination away for GOPAC Newt, Bush Neocons...
