Wisconsin SEIU endorses Obama

From NBC/NJ's Tricia Miller
The Wisconsin SEIU today endorsed Obama, citing his "commitment to expanding access to affordable health care and to protecting workers' rights," according to State Council President Dian Palmer in the release. The union has a little more than 15,000 members.

Spokesman Nathan Hoffmann said the union reached out to members through a phone poll asking which presidential candidate they supported and got input from local leaders and those who attended the members political conference in Washington, DC this summer. Then the nine members of the executive board, representing different parts of the state, voted by electronic ballot yesterday.

Obama won by poll of it's members... says something about those main-stream media polls that always have Barack behind 20+%...
Ron, TX:  Yeah, this group of service union employees in Wisconsin certainly cinches it.  Obama will be President.  Puhleeze!
Congratulations...Senator
BARACK THE VOTE
Thank you Wisconsin members of the SEIU for choosing Barack Obama.  Together, we will take our government back and see real, positive change for all Americans...lower gas prices, lower health insurance costs, lower drug costs, keeping jobs at home.
Joe, DC: I would say a poll of 15,000 is a better tell of support than one of 300 - 700 done by most of the polls that are reported.
Barack Obama 08
Al Gore is likely to endorse Obama and once he does you will start to see a shift in all of the polls.
Barack Obama 08
Excellent. Great choice. Obama 08. Thank you SEIU for your wise choice.
oBAMA IS SUCH FRAUD.
It may not seem like much to the juggernot that is the Hillary campaign, but every little bit counts.   I still say something is not right with all of these polls.
Questions can be stated in a way to get a certain answer.   What kind of crowds are Hillary drawing, besides the Big money donars.

At this moment, I think there still will be a few primary surprises.

Congrats B Obama,
When Pigs fly,Obama will be in the white house are you kidding me Hilary and bill for ever
Congratulations Obama Camp!

MSNBC-  Just a thought for you.  After hearing some discussion by two of Tuckers guests this evening acknowledge that the reporting of poll numbers have probably helped Hillary Clinton, I wonder-- Why do you report poll numbers?  Why not let the American people decide without bias, and then you can report the election results.  Isn't this inappropriate for journalists to report poll numbers if they know that they are influencing the American people who have no time to study elections closely and therefore, rely on your coverage.

I would be really curious to see the outcomes if the media would just stop the obsession with the poll numbers.
Another SEIU endorsement for Barack, only second to Edwards. Impressive for the "new kid." NO SEIU ENDORSEMENT FOR CLINTON- NOT EVEN NEW YORK.

Senator Clinton continues to tout insignificant popularity polls as a sign of strength in a campaign that is more about the triangulation and divisiveness of the past than the future of America.

While Senator Clinton may be popular among Democrats, her astronomically high negatives nationwide, due in part to her huge 'baggage' and the kind of politics she's been associated with since the 90s, is a significant electability concern for Democrats who badly want to win in 2008.

Every time Americans think about the casualties of the Iraq war and the heavy price America is paying, they should remember that Senator Clinton wholeheartedly gave George Bush the authority to wage that war. The Iraq war is Hillary Clinton's war too. She can try to hide from it, but she can't run away from it.
Hooray! Congrats to you Senator Obama; thanks Wisconsin for your endorsement. Alright others SIEU states we would absolutely welcome you aboard the Obama train. You (SIEU) of all people know what it is to fight against corporations for fairness and justice.  Surly you would not go against what you believe and fight for daily to support someone who takes money from big corporations and say that they represent common folks like us.
Talk about polls, Ron in TX.  Salon has a great article on them and one thing for sure.  Though republicans will fall in line with the frontrunner of the polls, democrats do not.  The polling is always way off with democrats.  The polls are also rigged as some comments talk about how they won't let you vote for anyone but, Hillary.
More and more the evidence keeps pointing to the true fact that the queen may not get her coronation.

Wisconsin!  you rock!
Barack should definitely engage HRC at the next debate in Philly.
This is just the beginning for Obama.  And a great point by Ron, TX.  A vote of a 15000 membership is a lot more meaningfull than 300 folks polled by one of Clinton's close friends.  The 20% gap is nothing but name recognition... that's it!  OBAMA '08
Unfortunately this may not be a random example of american working people.
Very encouraging that he continues to have broad based support.  He is the only candidate who can and will bring about a positive change.

hey joe stuff it your republican ear if you pry open your conservative ear. congratulations obama
It's so ironic how no one crucifies the SEIU for supporting Obama. Infact they've been praising them to the heavens but if it was Hill, they'd have shot them down crucifying them as part of what they now term Washington Insiders.
Obama has no message than to pull down Clinton which makes me hate him (not just dislike). The day after it was reported that he lost the Q3 fund raiser to hill, his campaign sent me one of their mailings reading as title: Hillary's money.
Of all the problems confronting America, can he not find another campaign theme? His rattlings about changing politics is as fake as his ideas of uniting the country. He will be the worst President America would ever have but thank God, it will not happen. When he looses IOWA, New Hampshire, South Carolina, then he will not need wait till Super Tuesday to throw in the Towel. Hill 08! The Clintons were better than what we have now and better than Obama's fake messages of Hope(lessness)
It's interesting that the endorsements keep coming inspite of the MSM hanging crepe on the Obama campaign.  Iowa will add it's loud voice to counter the conventional (or better put, biased) wisdom.

Also interesting was Pat Buchanan's comment on MSNBC, this AM pointing out that Hillary had been 1 of the 29 Democratic senators (who form part of the coalition of sheep) who have aided and abetted this, the latest Bush/Cheney march to war.  He also commented that Obama is not a part of this and that this is a major difference between the two leading Democratic candidates.

I would fully expect that if Pat Buchanan (admittedly no fan of this American exercise in imperialism in the Middle East), a Republican, is able to see a major distinction between Barack and Hillary, then the Democrats should be able to do the same.  Do Democrats really want a standard bearer who is repeatedly manipulated by the cowboy and Darth?  What does that say to her leadership ability?

And yes, we all know that Barack wasn't there to vote on the matter.  But we also know that Harry Reid (whose son runs Hillary's Nevada campaign), announced the night before (when Obama was present), that the measure had been tabled indefinitely.  It was on the next day, the vote was called hastily (knowing full well that Obama was already in NH) with 30 minutes notice.  Where's the outrage, folks?

Barack immediately announced his opposition to the measure when he became aware of the duplicity which had prevented his ability to vote on the measure.  The sad thing about this whole episode concerns the complex political scheming that went into this effort to provide a distracting cover for Hillary who knew her vote would provide for disturbance with the Democratic base and yet wanted this triangulating vote to position for the general election. Team Hillary also wanted to obstruct the chance for Barack to evidence leadership in opposing this vote.  Villainous characters?: Hillary, Mark Penn et al.  It's Bush/Rove all over again.  Haven't we had enough?
Obama '08
Way to go Barack. We will win them one at a time.
Do you think the news reporters are giving their honest view on the DEM race or they are reading from or following a talking point --- given to them by their bosses.
If the latter is true then we should offer our sympathy to those news casters. ... because they had to choose between feeding their family and reporting the truth.
Thanks

Like everything else Obama, while a good man, lags behind Senator Clinton in endorsements.

The fact is our needs are urgent. He lacks the political capital and experience to get anything done in Washington and it is there, like it or not, things must be done.

We do not have time to train him.
This is what you get when people VOTE ( not MSM). ANd this is what we should expect in January and February when Primary voters chose their nominie, which is Sen. OBAMA.

GO OBAMA'08!

Daniel, Desmoines IOWA
That is what people should expect when people really VOTE, ( not MSM speculate and jump the gun). AND most of all, this is what people expect in January and February when primary voters chose their Primary nominee. Many times people choose their time and run for office. And some times the time will chose the people to run. THis time, I think, the time chose Sen. Barack Obama to be the next president of the United States of America.

Daniel
Yes, we may even have a President who believes in "a government of the people, by the people, and for the people".  GO BAMA!
The media is manupulating the election ahead of the real voting in favor of so call big names but this will not stop the wind of change that mr Obama brings.Power must change hands in washington DC this time around.
anita, florida,Obama go man go, you sure put the fire
behind you. your Boston appearance was brilliant as you are always.
Blind automaton Democrats will vote Hilary.  Thinking Democrats will vote Obama.  And thus, Hilary will win, condemning us to 4 more years of the same BS.
copy right infrigment . hilray had the first draft when her husband was in office . Only a idoit would say this . Wisconsin your among losers .
I just finished watching NBC's
'Chris Matthew's Show' and the conclusion was that everything rests on Iowa.  I truly believe that is the case and in Iowa, Barack has gradually increased his support from 19% to 24% (being only 5 pts. behind Hillary).  The conclusion was that in the 9 weeks remaining, taking the lead is a serious potential.

David Gregory said that victory in Iowa would then have the potential to sling shot Obama to a victory in the NH primary (5 days later?) with the impact that this would have on the 45% of Granite State voters who are registered as 'undeclared'.  I feel that doing well in these first two events will result in South Carolinians, feeling the big mo', voting their hearts and giving the Palmetto state to Barack.  Dream scenario? Maybe but this is very plausible.

What wasn't said is what impact Edwards supporters could have in Iowa.  My personal belief is that both Obama and Edwards supporters are vehemently anti-Hillary and that their co-operation could hand Hillary a resounding defeat (secondary to pragmatic horse trading during the caucuses).

The debates on Tuesday should be interesting.  If Obama takes off the gloves, as he promises, Hillary's salad days with the MSM may be over.  If he can define her obtuseness on Social Security, her hawkish, Bush-lite positions on the war and the question the ethics of her campaign, maybe the MSM will end this preposterous talk of coronation before the first primary vote has even been cast.  Iowa is the show.  All eyes on the Hawkeye State.
Obama '08
That cute little smile and laugh isn't going to get the job done in Washington. We need real change.Hillary is old politics personified. I'm 74 and voting for Obama and Edwards as a team!
@ Jon, TX: It may not clinch it, but I suppose that real working people, in a fair vote selected him over the 20 other candidates means nothing?
I am still voting for Obama. I get this pit in my stomach every time I think that Hillary could possibly be the next president. It's not a good feeling.
Polls are the work or propagandaism. There is little or no truth anbout them. Supposing the pollister ask only the named candidate supporters, what will be the result? Guess what, Polls are always biased. Let people vote. I think Obama is more popular outside the media boxes than Hillary. You wait and see the pollisters exposed!!!
Voters and Individual donors count!  The media, try as they may with their CEO driven talking points to sculpt the election as they did the Iraq invasion will eat their words after the voters have spoken at the ballot box.  They broadcast as though the caucus and primaries have already been held...and the HRC campaign acts as though they are done with this phase and moving on to the gen election..taking NH for Granite(pun intended)is a big mistake, and we have news for you...real news.....Obama 08  the people vs the propaganda!  YES WE BELIEVE AND YES WE CAN!
Barack is with no doubt the best candidate in that coming presidential election.this men is incredible, full of qualities.he is the greatest i pray every day for Obama to in in the white house and make the change that americans people have been waiting for so long.
Barack Obama is definetly the best presidential candidate that this country had in more than a hundred years. This men is full of qualities that make the kind of commandant in chief that this country needs today.Barack represent the real symbol of unity in this country because of the fact that he is biracial,so that he can unify democrats and republicans but also blacks and whites in this country. Also Obama has a great vision of the way of making peace which is try to make peace with our ennemies such as iran, venezuela, south korea etc
