Clinton having it both ways... again?

Posted: Tuesday, October 30, 2007 10:53 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Is Clinton blurring the lines AGAIN, now on illegal immigrant driver's licenses. She said the plan makes sense, but can't commit apparently. She said she didn't say she supports the plan, when Dodd said she did. Russert tried to pin her on it, and she obfuscated again.

Edwards called her on it, evoking Bush-Cheney, saying Americans were tired of "double talk." Obama nodded and got called on and he got to chime in as well.

Does this become a problem for her? Can she directly answer a question?

obviously not.
She is double-speaking while they won't let Biden speak at all.
Yes again Sen. Clinton is not aswering the questions. She actually does that alot and the other candiates need to start taking advantage of this.
She clearly said she supports Gov. Spitzer's choice to do this because it is the only way he has and can come up with to track illegal immigrants within New York State.
However, she would not support this on the national level. What works for NY may not work for all of America.
I'm listening to "second tier" Joe Biden and Chris Dodd and thinking that if they were running against the Republican candidates, they would easily win.  This is a very talented and deep group of candidates.
NO!!!  As Todd Bowman will confirm, even if she answers it privately, she'll deny doing so in public.
Now thats a debate. Hats off to Brian and Tim.
Absolutly excellent work guys.
i  still think hillary's the best.
Hillary takes the smears with style. The objective is a Democratic win. hillaryclinton.com
How can she be the front runner? She answers nothing, and if I hear one more politician talk about Illegal immigration use the phrase,"Bring them out of the shadows" I'm going to jump off my house....
Watch the poll #'s change after this debate. The smile, the kackle, all gone, Poof gone. The spin room will be very active with wolfson ( possibly van)trying to clear up all the DOUBLESPEAK from hillary. The beginning of the end was just witnessed. THERE IS A GOD.
This will only work in her favor. The two men attacking the "poor woman." Edwards is way too rehearsed to be believable. Obama is too holier than thou to be effective. If any one really thinks that he isn't running for Vice President, they are kidding themselves.

Of course Clinton won't commit to anything - she's running for president!
Can Hillary answer any question with a straight answer?  I think Edwards did right to call her on it AND to pinpoint it as a Bush/Cheney tactic.  Most of us are sick of the double-talk.  More than that, Hillary sounded mediocre.  She no longer sounds 'smart', but more of a brown-nosing 'B' student.  Her Kyle-Lieberman answer vs the others, especially Biden's, was the worst of the pack.  She sounded like she didn't know what she was talking about!
It is a huge problem for Clinton. America is sick of double talk.
Inspite of being constantly harrassed by Russert she clearly said she supports Gov. Spitzer's choice. Funny thing that Obama stole her answer after criticising it!

States have to do what they can to protect themselves. Just because she said it was a good idea for new York does not mean she would support this on the national level. New York is different than Iowa and a one size fits all policy won't work here until you have comprehensive immigration reform, which republicans have failed to accomplish for years.

For holloween instead of the rommey double sided mask, now we have the hillary double sided mask mark down to 99cents.
Hillary speaks a lot, but doesn't say anything. After watching the debate I am unclear about most of her positions. Why can't the media pay more attention to the candidates who speak honestly and less attention to the ones with more money. The ones with the money don't need the "coverage", they can by their own.
Everything Hillary said Obama mimicked, he is a joke.  Can he ever have a debate an not stutter and stammer like shrub?
Brian and Tim bite, stupid questions and 30 second sound bites are the usual media crap.
Senator Clinton again shows she knows her stuff. Why should she answer the media hacks looking for a show, she does not owe them any thing. She has the smarts not to play their "gotcha" game.
The boys looked really bad, desperate to play catch up to the front runner, President Clinton!
Inspite of being constantly harassed by Russert she clearly said she supports Gov. Spitzer's choice. Funny thing that Obama stole her answer after criticising it!

=================================================

Jimmy your post is  great.  The spinners and hacks can twist it all but you and all who pay attention know the truth. She supports it for NEW YORK but not for THE COUNTRY.  It would of course be a form of a way to track the illegals, my question is why would they bother to get one? They do well for big biz as the underground work force to be used as cheap labor. They can not complain or get benefits. The Bush admin like that too!
All of these idiots want to give amnesty to illegals, because the Democratic party wants the 20 million or so illegals' votes once they are sucessfully cut to the front of the line.  It's just a question of how they spin the answers so the moron American public thinks that they actually have American citizens' interests at heart....
I see that no-one has run up the numbers of New Yorkers in polls [RASMUSSEN]that were opposed to Spitzers scheme. Rather than a way of ''tracking illegals''it is rather,an easier means of allowing terrorists to set up shop for another 9/11. Spitzer stupidly forgets that the 1993 WTC attackers were openly living in Brooklyn and Queens with phony documents used to garner drivers licences which even then were easy to obtain. Spitzer would have done the job of these terrorists for them. 72 % of the states residents opposed it and Spitzer has crawled back into his hole whining over the ''intolerance''of it all. This is an amnesty move that would see similar numbers of Americans as a whole in non-support,and will hurt the Democrats if they continue to travel down this road.
How are we supposed to pick this lady if she won't take a side on a single issue?  Should we choose based upon looks?  For her sake, I certainly hope not.
