AFSCME to endorse today

Posted: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 11:36 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Dave Forman
An AFSCME spokesperson told the NBC News Washington Desk that its board is meeting this morning in Washington, and it will hold a 1:30pm news conference at the Capital Hilton to announce its endorsement. The person receiving the endorsement will be there.

Could it be Clinton?

Just look at the the Clinton hacks at MSNBC. Could it be Clinton?
Nobody knows and it's not your job to insinuate.

But since you ask it better not be Clinton. MSNBC and the rest of the Mainstream media puppets have had their lips firmly applied to Mrs. Clinton's backside for the past year.

She NEVER SAYS ANYTHING, ANYTHING (I saw this on another post and it's so true whenever I post about Clinton from now on it's going up). She's John Kerry in a Suit skirt. The last thing we need is another afraid to be liberal Washington insider. Want a real candidate, see Edwards, Obama, and Biden. True progressive, Movement candidate, and Enough experience to sink a battleship. All of these people have consistently performed better in debates and on the stump, if you watch their speeches. The only reason Clinton is in the race is name recognition because she was the wife of Bill Clinton, oh, that and because she is carrying a ton of women voters who are more concerned with some perceived historical injustice (no woman president) than actually looking at a candidate of substance.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was Hillary.  She loves to keep endorsements in her back pocket for when she really screws up.  After that horrible beating she took in the debate last night, I wouldn't be surprised if she released 10 or 12 endorsements!  She'll do anything she can to bury her debate performance below a load of horse manure and fake, politically opportunistic endorsements.
You KNOW it is. Another masterstroke by her campaign. Having the announcement today gives her campaign a two day play in the news-cycle and is another heavy piece on the scale tilting towards her nomination.
It's another great day to be for Hillary! It's another day closer to the caucuses. It's one day less for her opponents.

Yes it's Clinton ! hillaryclinton.com
After her performance last night, you would have be just blind stupid to endorse Hillary Clinton....
They won't endorse any body
I think its great that Hillary Clinton is getting an endorsement. The problem is every one of the millions of members still have to vote and if they represent half of the 50% negative poll rating, these endorsements may not matter all that much.
Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) was on the Washington Journal this morning "reacting" to the lie the NYT told about the head of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. (Our media has become nothing more than lying reaction whores) Seems there is a problem with only having 1 person out of 400 actually inspecting toys from China. Funny thing is no one could say what the other 399 people do. People who work for government shouldn't be picking sides in politics. It's corrupting. Shut up and sit down though. Just keep feeding the greedy beast.
I certainly hope AFSCME hasn't gone so low as to endorse Hillary.  As was clearly evident in Tuesday's debate, Hillary takes every measure to go 180 degrees around the questions asked, leaving viewers dazed and confused.  Today, John Edwards received the endorsement of the NH SEIU, his eleventh state endorsement, proving (once again) that he is the labor candidate.
Regarding Tuesday night Democrat debate (and I question use of the word "debate".)  Isn't there a journalist somewhere out there  who can ask questions of substance? Two hours of  "gotcha" don't give the candidates, much less the voting public, credit for even a minimal amount of  intelligence.  We deserve better than this. With a year yet to go, why even turn on TV?
Just lookie here ...  hillaryclinton.com
It's another great day to be for Hillary!

After last night, there is no other way to go but up!
If it IS Clinton, it's a sad, sad day for American working people and the unions that are supposed to serve their interests.  Absolutely no indication that Clinton would be anything but a typical corporate friendly, what's-good-for-big-money-interests-is- good-for-America pol.

She also is your basic, unapologetic neocon hawk.  Endless war requires lots of bodies in a volunteer only system.  The best way to keep them coming is to keep jobs with good pay and decent benefits scarce, just as the Bush regime has done.  Expect more of the same from Clinton who will NOT reduce troops in Iraq by a significant amount for years to come.

Would Clinton's supporters be for a candidate with the same resume, voting record, public statements and associates if that candidate was a man?  Because her being the darling of the mainly anti-war, populist Dems of today makes absolutely no sense unless it's all about electing the first woman, everything else Dems believe in be damned.
a pro-clinton msnbc personality?  matthews?  i believe he would rather reeelect bush or do what he will do, and is doing, indirectly and directly influence a rudy victory.  olbermann may be the only one for hillary.  did he write this article?  probably not.
Chris Matthews is a disgrace. How much Chapstick does this guy need fom all the Clinton butt kissing? No doubt this will censored in true MSNBC fashion!
Hillary who?

Please give me a break. Endorsement won't win you the white house. Here is my take, Clinton take the endorsement of Spitzer and Charlie Rangel but won't go on records regarding AMT and illegal Immigrant driver's lincenced.

By now, i think the labor should learn their lesson. She was for NAFTA but now against it just because she want union endorsement.

She cannot be trusted.
Why does Hillary scare so many people, and they are not scared of the President we have now?
I actually was called "Hillary" at work ( I work in a very Republican atmosphere) because I said a long time ago if she ever ran, I would support her 100%!  Boy, have I changed my tune!  Barack is MY candidate, and I am sick of the media already ordaining Hillary as if it is over.  I think the media is just looking for an exciting "mean" campaign that makes for what they see as a better story.  Well, I've had enough of that with George Bush, so I am ready for nice!!!!!
After last night, there is no other way to go but up!

Jerry – To the contrary,  I don’t think Hillary can go much  higher - double digit leads in the polls for months and  out raising every other candidate.  After last night’s debate, I think Obama and Edwards look even weaker and more desperate.
Speaking of going up...when does anyone think one of the repukes will approach more than a smidgen of support in america? I guess that kill a muslim for mommy thing aint working for them
Let's see:  that makes six debates for Sen. Clinton, and one toss-up between Edwards, Obama and Russert.  Well, I guess Sen. Clinton and her supporters should just fold up their tents and go home.  Not likely.

By the way, while little noticed because of the focus on Sen. Clinton's answer due to the insatiable desire on the part of the media to create a horserace, Edwards' and Obama's embrace of drivers' licenses for illegal immigrants almost certainly makes them unelectable in the general election.  At which time these same media whores will all be saying how smart Sen. Clinton was not to be drawn into unconditionally supporting this absurd and widely unpopular measure.
SO WHAT?????????

Afscme to Endorse Clinton

By Steven Greenhouse

Gaining one of the biggest endorsements that organized labor has to offer, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is to receive the endorsement at 1:30 p.m. today of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, a union official said today.

The union is one of the nation’s largest, with 1.4 million members, and is especially powerful in Iowa, where it has 30,000 members, making it a major force in that state’s Democratic caucus."

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/10/31/afscme-to-endorse-clinton/

"Hillary Rodham Clinton won the endorsement of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees on Wednesday, an important boost for the Democratic presidential front-runner."

A campaign that knows what it's doing scores again.

csh:

we were watching the debates.....

what were you watching?
After the way she got whipped last night, i can't believe anyone would endorse her.
Matthews a Clinton butt-kisser?!  Do you even watch MSNBC?  Personally, I like Chris.  Politically, he scares me-- neoconserative, anyone?  A once righty then lefty who grew disillusioned?  It worries me.  In the interest of transparency, I believe he should formally endorse Rudy. The endorsement is blatant in the subtext (failure to mention Rudy, failure to criticize...).  His outright loathing for Hillary at times feels slightly based on her sex.  He spends almost every show denouncing everything she stands for.  Face it, the country is on the right-wing (look to 2004 for evidence).  What you call "left" I call right-center, what you call "right" I call alot of "ism"s and insane.  No matter who goes into office, Iran is inevitable.  The left is Marxism near the center, and other ideas Americans (of which I am one) will never embrace.  I'll vote (for the 1st time in my life) if one of two people get the nomination-- Hillary or Obama.  My vote is symbolic, purely symbolic.  I will smile if a woman or an African-American becomes president.  What I see happening is something irreconcilable in my mind.  I hope it doesn't, but think it will.  Go Hillary or Barrack!! There are literally two people running for president, the rest just astound me that they can.
It's official - AFSCME just announced their support for Hillary - another great victory for her!
Could it be...SATAN?!?  Let everyone endorse Hil, let's nominate her, so the RGOP Lies and Hate Machine can swiftboat her campaign into flames...then Rudy G, the Bush clone can lead us down an ever steepening hill...
AFSME President Gerald McEntee  on the endorsement process, last nights debate, and Hillary;

My favorite quote, "This is one STRONG woman". This Jerry KNOWS what he's talking about!

"We took 10 months. We looked closely at the candidates, and we drilled down deep into the union to see who was inspiring our members, who would fight the hardest for working families and who has the greatest ability to win.

"We held forums. We reviewed the candidates' records and positions on the issues. We met with each of them individually. We talked with our members. Surveyed our members. Polled our members.
No matter how you look at it, Hillary Clinton stands out. She stands tall. And she stands with us."

McEntee also plans to refer to Tuesday's contentious Democratic presidential debate, when her leading rivals had some sharp words for Clinton:

"Some of you may have seen last night's debate.

"Six guys against Hillary. I'd call that a fair fight.

"This is one strong woman."

The endorsement means Clinton wins the logistical and financial support of the 1.4 million-member union. AFSCME says it plans to "spend more than $60 million on the 2008 campaign, and will mobilize a 40,000-member army of volunteers to elect Sen. Clinton."

I have lost all respect for Chris Matthews.  He is downright OBSESSED with Hillary Clinton and won't even ask the other candidates about the debate, ONLY HILLARY!

Get that obsessed, arrogant and pompous hack off the air!
It's official - AFSCME just announced their support for Hillary - another great victory for her!

csh, IL

How did their endorsement work in 04? Oh that's right Dean didn't win a single state.
