Bush jokes about Cheney, 'dark side'

Speaking at the Grocery Manufacturers Association meeting in Washington, the first president to do so since Eisenhower, President Bush joked about Cheney and Halloween.

The president told the audience that he spoke to the vice president today and "asked him what costume he was planning? He said, "I am already wearing it. He mumbled something about the dark side of the force."

Cheney used the Darth Vader line on himself in a speech on Oct. 21. at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in Lansdowne, Va.

"In fact, most of you knew me long before anyone called me, Darth Vader,” he said to laughter. “I've been asked if that nickname bothers me, and the answer is, no. After all, Darth Vader is one of the nicer things I've been called recently.”

Strange, but it does appear that the forces of the empire are fighting, tooth and nail, those who believe in the restoration of the Republic. Vader, along with the Emperor, and their hord of stormtroopers have been busy fighting the forces of the Constitutional Republic...time to fight back!

And yes, they could almost be Pinky and the Brain, except that neither one is a genius...although Cheney may be a genius at weaseling out of the draft (no rich, powerful daddy, like scrub had, just five bogus deferrments), but they are both definitely insane.

Gee HAHA Pittsburgh... they called them WORLD wars for a reason. Lets see now, we had a hell of a lot more troops on the ground in all the wars you mentioned and guess what? Our medical ability is much greater than it was in those wars, and the medical facilities are MUCH closer to the action. There will never be a time when it would be too late to impeach President Bush; there will simply always be benefit in doing so. Even if he should regrettably leave office and escape being impeached, there still would be value in prosecuting him, along with Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and others. There will always be a significant value for sending an over due positive message to the world, an emphatic warning to all future administrations and the much needed encouragement to the American people that America won’t long tolerate the gross dishonesty, the irresponsible abuse of their offices and the self-indulgent use of America’s resources for their own purposes that the Bush administration has constantly and arrogantly demonstrated - the real 'Dark Side'.

And now, with the next election nearing, it is important for all of us to be totally disciplined in searching our conscience and checking our biases, thereby diligently resisting being led and manipulated, and to objectively decide for ourselves and thus to avoid ‘more of the same’. We can each egotistically enjoy defending our individual biases but without privately looking deep and long at reality and then responsibly discerning our appropriate choice, we will simply have no one to blame but ourselves. We can post our rationalizations on the internet and aggressively spin our opinions at the bar but unless we resist believing our emotional drivel we are literally vulnerable to being used again. Let’s hope we have learned our lesson.
