The Edwards campaign has put together a graphic - (Click for a larger .pdf version of the photo) highlighting the differences between Edwards and Clinton on the issues. And staying with that boxing analogy, the Edwards campaign writes, “Edwards proved again last night, beyond a doubt, that he is a true heavyweight when it comes to challenging the other candidates to tell the truth on the issues that matter most to the American people. The rest of the contenders? Well, let’s just say that even the best hype machines can’t disguise a real featherweight.”

For its part, the Clinton campaign has put together a video it is very proud of -- a compilation from last night’s debate of what they call “The Politics of Pile-On.”

That's funny.  She chastizes the other candidates for attacking her, yet wears it as a "belt" of honor.  She still has it both ways.
edwards ought to be pointing out his differences between obama and himself.....obviously he doesn't consider obama a contender.

(lest you wonder, the more successful way for a 3rd placer to move ahead is to knock out #2)
Oh Waaaaahhhh!!  Everybody keeps questioning me and wondering how I would lead the country.  How dare they question me!  If she thinks that the criticisms from the REAL Democrats are tough, there is no way she can handle the Republicans.

My fellow Democrats that are supporting Hillary need to get their head examined.  She is NOT a Democrat!!

Edwards/Obama '08
Clinton is pathetic... Wow! edward get it.
John Edwards v.
Hillary Clinton

Iraq
Edwards: Ends the war. Period.

Clinton: Leaves combat troops in Iraq.

Iran
Edwards: If you give this President an inch, he’ll take a mile

Clinton: Voted to enable George Bush to go to war with Iran

Taking Money from Washington Lobbyists
Edwards: Zip. Nil. Nada.

Clinton: Has taken more money from Washington lobbyists than any candidate from either party

Social Security
Edwards: Save Social Security with higher taxes on rich while protecting benefits, and keeping retirement age the same. v.

Clinton: Depends who’s listening.

Telling the Truth to the American People
Edwards: American people deserve truth-telling mode all the time.

Clinton: Primary mode vs general mode vs Iowa mode vs New Hampshire mode vs New York Times mode, etc.
EDWARDS HAIRCUT $300.00 , CLINTON HAIR CUT PRICELESS !
hey !lookie here...hillaryclinton.com
If you have to say you are a 'true heavyweight', then you aren't.
It is plain to see, voting for Clinton amounts to another Bush and neocon clone for 4 more years, more wars, more decline of American international authority, even more destruction of our economy, health system and education. It is plain to see, now what we just need to do is open our eyes to the zionist traitor Clinton is, just like Bush and Cheney have shown to be.
Desperation - thy name is Edwards.

As Leno said last night: the debate is between Hillary the frontrunner and Mr. Desperate, Mr. Very Desperate and everyone else.
After carefully studying the candidates positions, it seems to me that Ron Paul is the only that our Founding Fathers would recognize. God save America.
After carefully studying the candidates positions, it seems to me that Ron Paul is the only candidate that our Founding Fathers would recognize. God save America.
I used to like Mr. Edwards but he was a complete failure last night. I want these candidates to give their positions not attack other candidates. This debate was embarrassing and only gives Republicans fuel for general election. Is the democrats in self destruct mode.
Edwards makes much of Clinton taking money from lobbyists while his campaign is funded in large part by trial lawyers what is the difference each group is hoping to get a return on their money. The word Lobbyist has become a dirty name due to lobbyists like Abramoff there are lobbyists on capitol hill lobbying for the elderly, the poor and other good causes. I belong to the Fleet Reserve Association our National Executive Secretary is a lobbyist for the enlisted men and women in the sea services, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. He has no pot of money to give away but appeals to the patriotism of the members.
I guess questioning Hillary is considered "piling-it-on."  If she can't stand up to the pressures from her own party- how can she stand up to Ahmedinejad or Putin?  Maybe she needs to invest in the politics of truth.
Stop the sobbing Hillary...whadya think...people would just hand you the nomination?
BionicWoman, Tucson, Arizona: '...the debate is between Hillary the frontrunner and Mr. Desperate, Mr. Very Desperate and everyone else...'

BionicWoman, and Hillary Clinton LOST !!
What is Hillary's position on IDs for illegal immigrants ?
What is Hillary's position on Social Security ?
What is Hillary hiding in her White House records ?
Why is she hiding her records ?

Hillary Clinton, 15 years of dishonesty, scandals and divisiveness
Wy. I agree. The FF wouldn't spit on the vast majority of these husksters.
I can see that the tough guys have been bitten in the asss.
Edwards is so desperate. This was imature and totally uncall for.
It does not matter what they say if they are affraid to to speak the truth. That's why Ron Paul is getting so much momentum.
Edwards campaign donations come mostly (87%) from indivdual donations of $250 or less.  He takes nothing from lobbyist or Pacs.  I would say that means he listens more to the people than corporations or trial lawyers.  I would like to see an Edwards/Obama ticket.  No way that could lose.
To Rufus Gibbons,

Washington lobbyist--person hired to get Congress and/or Administration to do whatever it takes for a corporation to make more profits, often uses campaign contributions to gain access to or curry favor with legislators or Administration.  Not all Washington lobbyists are working for corporations; however, the number of corporate lobbyists and the amount of money they add to the political pie overwhelm that of non-profits and issue advocacy groups.

Trial lawyer--person hired by an individual to sue a corporation to stop that corporation from doing whatever it takes to make more profits, like selling faulty swimming pool drain covers. may make campaign contributions but that has no effect on abilities in court.

You are equating Washington corporate lobbyists with trial attorneys -- they aren't the same thing at all.
Well Edwards is still a much better candidate then Obama, however he is some what fake.. I like Ron Paul and Biden

As for Obama...  He cannot promise to withdraw the troops out by 2013, possibly later and has yet to present a proper exit strategy. He voted in favor of the Patriot Act.. which is a direct infringement on our rights. While I respect the fact that he spoke out against the war before he came into office, he later told the NY Times, had he been in the Senate he may have voted differently. And what about the economy, taxes, social security, not to mention a presidency with him may lead us into another war with Iran or Pakistan, one which he commented he would invade without the consent of the government, and the other where he missed the vote, and never spoke out against and attempted to sponsor a legislation in favor of designating the Iranian National Guard a terrorist organization (he also stated he wouldn't rule out strikes against them) .. And what about his votes making it harder for average citizens to sue big corporations?

not to mention he constantly lies about not being in the pockets of corporations, interest groups and lobbyists, when he CLEARLY is..

"Obama's reliance on such deep-pockets supporters helps explain why he voted for a business-driven "tort reform" bill that rolled back working peoples' ability to obtain reasonable redress and compensation from misbehaving corporations. It is certainly part of why he opposed an amendment to the Bankruptcy Act that would have capped credit card interest rates at 30 percent. It is undoubtedly related to his vote against a bill that would have killed an amendment to the 2005 energy bill that Taxpayers for Common Sense and Citizens Against Government Waste called "one of the worst provisions in this massive piece of legislation." Under the amendment, which passed with Obama's help, U.S. taxpayers are providing millions of dollars in loan guarantees to power plant operators. They "risk losing billions of dollars if the companies default," as Ken Silverstein wrote in the November, 2006 issue of Harper's Magazine ("Barack Obama Inc.: The Birth of a Washington Machine").

"Reliance on corporate cash and power is also likely related to Obama's opposition to the introduction of single-payer national health insurance on the curious grounds that such a welcome social-democratic change would lead to employment difficulties for workers in the private insurance industry and that "voluntary" solutions are "more consonant" with "the American character" than "government mandates." The latter judgment is advanced despite the fact that a large U.S. majority supports government-mandated universal health insurance. "

Edwards is my second choice for prez, but, that is a great idea.  Go John!
Wah wah wah...Hillary is trying to be republican lite because frankly this nation is not about to elect some pie eyed populist liberal...it will sadly take bush III rather than some weenie liberal
I watched the debates last night and am really trying to stay unemotional and to keep on open mind.  It is interesting to me to read these blogs..human nature being what it is, it seems to me that most people had a person in mind they preferred, and that was the person who they stuck with.  I would be more interested in Independents, or people that didn't have a clear choice, and this debate cleared it up for them..Here are my choices:
1.Biden really seems to be the clear winner in the debate, as he was in my opinion last time, although he didn't get any press for it then..too bad I don't think he is electable...not enough money. Most people that actually watched the debates seem quite taken with him.  He is tough, articulate, knows his facts, spot on, concise.
2.Edwards:  he has always been my favorite, and I was glad to see he asked the hard questions, but he turned just as many off for doing so that he gained seemed to me..shame too, cuz they all are going to feel the heat
3.  Obama-I thought he was not as polished or as charasmatic as everyone seems to think he was, but honestly, at this point all these guys are good
4. Dodd: He got some high points in..
5. Kucinich-bright, no holds barred, but that stupid set up with the UFO's, bad move on the commentator
6.  Hillary-I give her such low ratings because she had the highest standards to meet..not unfair, just is
She is too corporate, big money interests, not electable, and didn't answer a single question posed her cleanly, just evasive to the end.  I think she is tough and smart, but I want more than that..I have a major problem with voting with Bush on Iran..
7. Richardson:  please, he just seemed to be gunning for Clintons'VP

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER, IT'S NOT TO LATE. hillaryclinton.com   it's free and fun. come on take a look seee.
Edwards would be vice president if he wasnt such a light weight contender, move aside you had your chance and somehow, edwards lost to bush cheynee talk about your cry baby whaaaa
Oh, Democrats, can we be savvy this time?  Can we stop pretending Hillary Clinton hasn't already alienated 48% of the electorate, who swear they will vote for her under NO circumstances?  Can we nominate someone who can actually win the general election?  I live in Ohio, a crucial swing state, and I can tell you that Hillary Clinton can't win here.  The level of anti-Clinton sentiment that lingers (unfairly, in my opinion) will swing Ohio to the right and take the White House along with it.  Among my friends are evangelical Christians who are unable to support any Republican in the field--unless any one of them runs against Hillary.  Ohio is suffering greatly from globalization and loss of industry, which makes it ripe for a democratic nominee with the right message (Edwards) who doesn't have the baggage a Clinton brings.  Hillary can win all the national polls she wants, but when it comes down to a state-by-state (and even a county-by-county) election, she is simply doomed by anti-Clinton fever.  Her lead in the polls is reflective of a common wish to erase the past six years and return to the peace and prosperity we enjoyed in the 1990's, yet Bill himself never eked out more than 49% of the national vote, and we can't count on a third-party candidate to cripple the Republican nominee this time around.  Nominating Hillary will guarantee another nasty, polarizing national election, after which we will end up with another scary Republican in the White House.  God help us.
Sierra ,SF
I thought Hilary was as clear as is it possible to be in 1 minute but nevertheless  fyi
On immigration..She  not think Spitzer's plan was  the perfect solution but she understood the urgency especially inlight of the fact that Ny is a prime target and she applauded his efforts for at least trying to find a solution especially when congeress had not managed to do its job.
On social security .. fiscal responsibilty was her first priorty. on the basis of what results that achieved  she  in tandem with a bipartisan commitee , would decide what  other  tough measures such as raising the cap etc would be necessary. She however was quite clear that in principle she was opposed to privatisation and to balancing social security on the backs of old people and the middle class and would do her best to make sure that it was the last resort..

Unfortunately we  do not live in a black and white world and 1 minute to discuss  complex issues like social security ,getting out of Iraq and health care is frankly absurd!!
also would you prefer a candidate whio is capable of understanding nuances or would you prefer someone who sees the world in terms of the absolute..you know ..bad guys versus us good guys or what was that famous line..if you are not with us then you are against us!

regarding the records..
Consider the fact that every innocent thing she says is turned into a  scandal and conspiracy by a rabid press. This was  evidenced by yesterday's extremely biased questioning where almost every question was a setup to give Edwards and Obama an opportunity to   tear down Clinton .yet not a single follow up question was asked of either Edwards or Obama.. Afterall it was only fair to ask in the context of the iran vote why Obama (and his drumbeats of wasr!!) had not registerd a single protest to the ammendment and was not even present to vote or why Edwards who actually worked for a hedge fund and continues to accept money from them and from trial lawyers has the nerve to criticise Hilary's funding.. the only reason Edwards has not accepted  money from these "special interest" is because they did not  want to give it to him !
Consider this  fact .. Every little thing said by Hilary or Bill has always been taken out of context and blown out of proportion i.
Unfortunately some people  seem to prefer buying into these sensational conspiracy theories rather than see this obvious fact ...  a republican congress, a republican president and a partisan district attorney for almost 7 years have not managed to make a single allegation stick..in my book that is innocent.. as to divisiveness it is the fact that the Clintons are probably the only political couple who have mangaed to hold their own against the republicans and come out winners..it is no wonder they hate her!!
Did Edwards lie?

(1) Iraq - Edwards: Ends the war. Period.

-->> Didn't he say he couldn't pledge to have all the troops out by the end of his first term? Only Kucinich and Richardson have pledged to have all troops out, according to my understanding from the last debate. Clinton's stated first priority is to end the war in Iraq.

(2)Iran - Clinton: Voted to enable George Bush to go to war with Iran.
-->> This is baloney.

(3a) Taking Money from Washington Lobbyists -- Edwards: Zip. Nil. Nada.
-->> So?
(3b) Clinton: Has taken more money from Washington lobbyists than any candidate from either party
-->> So?

(4) Social Security - Clinton: Depends who’s listening.
-->> Also baloney. Does NOT believe SS is in crisis and considers that a GOP talking point. Will re-lock the lockbox first, before any other changes to SS. Will appoint a bi-partisan commission and will take their recommendations.

This entire fabrication of Edwards's imagination makes this one more than a little ironic:
(5) Telling the Truth to the American People -
Edwards: American people deserve truth-telling mode all the time.
-->> L.O.L.
Let me get this right. I'm suppose to feel sorry for any candidate, let alone Hillary Clinton, because the heat is being turned up in a campaign? One word. WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last night Hillary got caught with her pantsuit down - and what did her campaign do? Released a video of male candidates hammering her - as if SHE's a "victim"! although the media has held her hand from the gitgo like leading a little child through a dark forest.
Look Hill - unlike John Edwards, you rarely take questions from your audiences because they're smart voters and ask smart questions that you can't answer. But last night you couldn't handle the heat from Dems and it's obvious the Repubs will eviscerate you.
Rufus - FYI - there's a big difference in Girl Scout lobbyists and Big Oil lobbyists. Get it?
Hillary assures us she will continue taking bribe money from ALL lobbyists - and she has the MOST donations from the DEFENSE INDUSTRY, the INSURANCE INDUSTRY, Wall Street and K Street - than any other candidate. IOW - Hillary is bought!
I'm supporting the Main Street candidate - John Edwards!
John Edwards home and haircuts wouldn't affect us when he's in the White House - but all Hillary's donations from corporate lobbyists certainly will.

They own her - and will be looking for more corporate welfare from taxpayers.
To continue the boxing theme:

"float like a butterfly and sting like a bee"

"It's hard to be humble, when you're as great as I am."

"rope-a-dope"

"It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."

"If I had lower IQ, I could enjoy your interview"

"Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over."

-- Mohammed Ali
If any one claims to be a heavyweight and truthsayer, it is a scary thing.  Look at a true statesman when you look at Ron Paul.  He's the only one I can see in both parties who is telling it like it is.  Everyone else dances around the REAL ISSUES.
Lets face reality, Edwards is a loser. When questioning, who can beat the Republicans, Edwards has already shown that he can't.  Ironic isn't it?!  Also, in 2003, he was the moderate Southerner, who could bridge the gap with Republicans, and the conservative white males in the South (oh yeah, he also probably could not win senate re-election in his home state).  Now, as a populist, we should expect that he could win a national election - you have to be kidding!

In regards to piling on Senator Clinton, well, she is part of a duo that actually did beat Republicans in 2 national elections.
No wonder, democrats can't win the presidential elections. It is becuase of the internal squabbling within the party. Look at the republicans, they are more disciplined and united.
Time is now to support and gather around Hillary, and make her win the presdiential race.
Edwards and Obama, are now shouting foul, the truth of the matter is they can never win the presidential race, they are losers. They must support Hillary for the sake of the party they belong to.
Who really cares what leno says? Edwards has a chance, a good one, because he's honest and strait forward. He also remembers what it was like to live on a bugget more than how to fight like a twelve year old. Hilary is a woman. They debate ever time a man opens his mouth. They are use to it. I am sick of imature presidents. I also would like one who is awake and aware of what's going on around them. Good thing bush is out. I don't want a pres who is too old because of Regan and we need one who is smart enough to research their proposals, this lets Clinton out, we need one who isn't going to be one cided about people or bias about immigrants. This leaves Obama out. That leaves Edwards, I can live with that, and isn't that the whole idea. Another point is: How much respect do you think a woman pres is going to get in some of our enemies eyes?
With everyone attacking Hillary, should anyone wonder that it took until the end, for Hillary to begin to show wear under the attacks?  What is going on here, with the people on this list?  If someone is "ganged up on" throughout a debate, who would be able to defend against such an attack, for two hours?  Did anyone else have to sustain themselves against such a continuous level of attack?  I thought that Hillary did brilliantly, and easily won the debate.  I also thought that virtually everyone involved against Hillary, acting shamefully and vindictively, ganging up on her, because they knew that a 6 against 1 ratio would pull her down.  I lost a good deal of respect for Edwards and Obama; and certainly, no longer, want such people to lead my country.
Barack Obama won the debate clean. Edward added his pepper though. Hillary will be shredded by the republicans if she ever win(she will not of course). She cannot win the intellectual figth, she cannot win the war of ideas. Frankly i think that she is naive and not that smart. Her machine maybe terrific at hiding her flaws but let's face it she has to be able to carry out what they cook for her.And the dabate last night showed that she cannot deliver.
I wander what if she is ever elected how she will withstand for pressure coming from Iran, Russia and the like. She cannot negociate, she just cant. She will launch the NUKE to protect herself and act tough. She has shown that with the Irak vote, and less than a few years later, she does it again with the Iranian vote. A person like that cannot be president, i count on Obama and an OBama/Edward ticket to make sure that she stays the Senator of New York pass this election.
Two faces of evil, or just your Washington self serving paper hanging """LIAR""..

Double standards: War, Drivers license, A method of what ever is for the moment.

Clinton babble and stumbling, and this is leadership???  Clinton's need to be selling junk bonds instead of running for theWhite House!!!
Until the laws, rules and regulations posted as law are enforced..Washington self sering Paper Hangers should be commanded to take English 101, third grade spelling, and grade school reading!

Clinton just riding anothers coat tail!
Wow, I saw the debate in a totally different manner.
I thought that Senator Dodd was really on point with his message:  Clinton can't win, the Democrats need to nominate a candidate that has a proven record of working with the other party to get the people's work done.  I say that he is the one to watch.
Yea, and Hillary is still miles ahead of the other candidates...so quit gloating and when the time comes just vote democratic!
so Hillary was attacked by a group of bullies, and shes still standing and according to after debate polls, is waaayyy ahead. Tough s--- boys.
I have a real problem.  I don't know how I can possibly vote for anyone who believes ILLEGAL aliens (and I am not talking about immigrants!) should receive driver's licenses!!!  No one brings up the cost to taxpayers either.  Our taxes pay for the Department of Motor Vehicles and all the supplies, workers, etc.  Illegal aliens don't pay taxes!  Not to mention that these driver's licenses can then be used to purchase houses, cars and yes, even GUNS!!  When are our politicians going to start using some common sense?  These licenses will also be used to vote.  Oh that's right, the politicians say the illegal aliens won't use them to vote because it's ILLEGAL!!  I just can't believe this is happening in America!!  We know they are breaking the law, but we are still going to give them a PRIVILEGE???  Wait until citizens have to wait in lines longer even though their taxes are paying for DMV!  And these candidates want to be our President???  Can't anyone stand up for what they believe in and not just trying to get a vote?  And please don't call me a racist.  I really don't care where you are from if you are here illegally.  My husband's Spanish and so are my children.  Where are all the Spanish citizens and their anger over this???  I am no longer Democrat or Republican, but I have to say, the Middle Class American is dying and we are apathetically allowing it to happen.  How many of you have written to Congress?  I write all the time!  Please write to them as well as on here!!
Where might be able to buy one of those puckered-lips, greasy, insincere smirks that slobber lips Edwards always displays?  We are preparing for a real 2008 Halloween outfit and need the most outlandish, offensive mask of hucksterism possible.
BRING IT ON ! HILLARY....  hillaryclinton.com
