Bush: Specter also backs Mukasey

Posted: Monday, November 05, 2007 9:01 AM by Domenico Montanaro

The AP writes that the Senate Judiciary Committee’s top Republican, Arlen Specter, “said Sunday he is bothered by Michael Mukasey's refusal to say whether waterboarding is torture but will support his nomination for attorney general anyway… [L]ast Friday, Democratic Sens. Charles Schumer of New York and Dianne Feinstein of California announced they would support the nomination. With nine Republicans on the panel, Schumer and Feinstein's support virtually guarantees that a majority of the committee will recommend his confirmation.”

Oh Arlen, I knew in the end you would continue to support this administration, too bad, you were on the money about Alberto and could have hung in there, Oh well, we shall see were this goes, the train wreak in the White House is not over, like any good swamp, the miasma seeps out slowly and then the atmosphere gets murky. Get them hipboots out, we in for storm clouds and da heavy rain of truth.
The testicle-challenged Dems cave once again.  Is it any wonder no one likes the job they're NOT doing?
Schumer & Feinstein...weak kneed yellow bellied lilly livered...rolled over again, well, I got my votin pen out...
The Republicans may have chickenhawks but Democrats have their chickenliver wing
Bush always gets his way----but you know if this schill for Bush was not nominated Bush would have put him in through the back door like he does everything else.I am just glad to see Gonzo is lawyered up
this is still bush war in iraq and a new war getting ready in iran, the new ag nomonee is just another brown shirt in sheeps clothes, did anyone really expect bush to do what was right for AMERICA and the world?  I dont think so.  bush is jealous right now of musharrif in pakistan with his declaring martial law and arresting his political oppenents to SAVE pakistan.
Schumer had no choice, this is his boy.  This is supposed to be democrats and republican bipartisan candidate and they can't even get that right.
Damn Jerry, I 'm with you on this one also, but for one thing, politics is the land of shifting sands with snakes underneath, nothin "like bein' 'Quick Footed'."
But I can't understand Fienstien, does she owe Charlie or need him?
And better yet, What was Charlie doing in the first place giving the White House a heads up on this guy?
Snakes and shifting sands!!
John S.

If this what they mean by bipartisan people......

I think we need to go back to the drawing boards...
"But I can't understand Fienstien,"

She's one of those Senators that puts another country's interests on a par with our own, plus no Bush crony is making any more money on this war than her husband and his friends.
Maybe if we waterboarded Mukassey, he'd see why we used to prosecute people who did this stuff for war crimes.  And maybe we should waterboard some sense into the chicken sh** Dems in Congress, too.
Feinstein's making less money since she had to resign from the committee that deals with Military contracts. Her husband's company must be ready to hit the poor house by now.
Just because the committee recommends confirmation doesn't mean that he will be confirmed.  I'm betting there may be a few Republicans who will vote against him, particularly those who face reelection in 2008.  What does McCain think about Mukasey?
Mr. Mukasey's skill at evading a truthful answer to a rather simple question makes me wonder if the American people would not be better served if he ran for an elected office...I can see that he's already a "skilled politician."  I am absolutely amazed that someone so reluctantly forthcoming with the "whole truth and nothing but the truth" could ever seriously be considered for appointment as the Attorney General of the United States of America!
