Weyrich endorses Romney

Posted: Monday, November 05, 2007 12:46 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
CBN's Brody has the scoop: Paul Weyrich, the former co-founder of the Moral Majority, has endorsed Romney. Brody writes about the significance: "Let me start by saying that Paul Weyrich is a huge name in the social conservative movement. If you know anything about the conservative movement in this country in the last 30 years or so, you know how big a deal this is... Plus, by getting a social conservative guy like Weyrich on board, it gives the Romney campaign a big leap forward to be able to say that Romney is serious about moving a pro-family, traditional value agenda as President. It's not about the amount of influence Weyrich has today. It's about how his name is synonymous with traditional values conservatism."

well DUH!!!!!!......

You expected them to endorse Hillary Clinton??? LOL
Why I not surprised that a guy named Way Rich is synonymous with conservatism?
OH Weyrich supports Romney.. Oh ok, let me put my common sense and intelligence aside and follow my so-called leader.
WHo cares if they support him, I don't care.
How soon before he gets busted with crank and a male prostitute?

"Moral Majority" my Aunt Fanny.
They felt that Mitt was the one Candidate who sincerely believed Adam and Eve had a per dinosaur.
They felt that Mitt was the one Candidate who sincerely believed Adam and Eve had a pet dinosaur.
With leads in Iowa, NH, and South Carolina (now), it's looking like there is very little time for any other candidates to prevent this from being a Mitt v. Rudy two man primary race.
Traditional values conservatism is morphing into anything but Rudy!

Mitt, like Reagan, is being given a "get out of jail free card" by one of the founders of the social conservative movement. It really never mattered much what their positions were as Governors, as long as they were willing to lie to voters about embrassing traditional values.

The fact that social conservatives haven't swarmed to Huckabee is a testament to how much the leaders of the movement are tied as much the East (Romney) and West (Reagan) coasts as they claim liberals to be. Their BS has been exposed!

If enlighted conservatives want a seat at the table over the next eight years, it is time to hold your nose and vote Democratic!
no doubt romney has been writing out more personal checks to weyrich's favorite charities... the one his family 'works' at.
Mitt vs. Rudy...and if Rudy Gigolo wins, and is too stupid to put the Mittster on his ticket, there will be a Theocratic Third Party, and the Repugs will be torn asunder (O happy day!)  Julie better be thinking seriously about this if he wants the White House.
Go Romney!!!!!!
Wasn't the Moral Majority discredited as being neither?
well DUH!!!!!!......
You expected them to endorse Hillary Clinton??? LOL
jerry/corpus christi texas

--- what is puzzling is why he doesn't endorse Huckabee
Paul is more old dead meat being brought out to plant the crown on Mitts head, too bad he is not as well respected or as powerful as he once was. where's he been, hiding in the bushes so Dick does't draw a bead on him? Please let me know when Ollie North supports someone, then we will see the potato vice admiral man and wolfie and scooter and thier Ho Ann, coming out to put their hands over a lit candle and swear to Liddy and the dead elephant society that "They will carry the torch till it is extinquished by truth and the wave of the body politic."
While I find you all a bit  repugnant in your knee-jerk cynicism and reflex regurgitation of party-line platitudes, I have to tip my hat to a couple of clever comments.  Shadow and nuanced, well done; very funny; misguided and inane, but funny and therefore appreciated.  Other comments (on this and other similar blogs) were just misguided and inane without the wit.  Kudos.
The more people get to know Mitt Romney, the more people support him. Just look at the poll numbers for the early states.  Who cares about national polls now.  If he wins in IA, NH and SC he will be on his way.  I think it's time people give Mitt another look.
Glad to see the social conservatives are starting to move past "The Mormon Thing".  It was smart of them to do so.  Romney is the only one that looks and lives family values, except for Huckabee.

I'm hurt!

Seriously, there is a very fine line between satire and knee-jerk cynicism; between misguided and witty. It is all in the eye of the beholder, so to speak.

In a Mitt Romney presidency, I won't be suprized to see Scooter Libby as National Security Advisor and G. Gordon Liddy as Guantanamo's Recreation Director!

Maybe the G-man will beat the terrorists a lot harder and get more info.

Nothing like a good 50 yard race with a 50 caliber aimed at your back to get information or eliminate another mouth to feed.
Who really care if Paul Weyrich back Romney!!! HAHAHAHAHA "Moral Majority" and all those conservative out there are all undercover "GAY". They peach about it's wrong to be gay, but they sure are the one getting caught red handed or in the act. Please people I don't care who you vote for, but please no more Repulican...
Go Mitt! I like him a lot better then Rudy 9-11 and boring Fred Thompson.
Mitt may end up by the process of the others stupidity to be the man. He just has to hunker down and look less kooky.
Still the weyrich hands up is nothing to write home about yet.
'Dear mother, I met a nice man today and he believes in me.'
'Dear son,
Hide your wallet and don't let him in your room!'
'But MAAA'
'Son, one man does not make a party, surround yourself with more and a party you will have, till then gird thyself from one mans influence. It is umseemly.'
Romney has my vote! What a man! There is something, dignified, honest and powerful about him, Yet humble enough to admit when he has been wrong on an issue. As far as his faith? I don't care what he is, except that he is non-wavering in it. The day he casts it aside for political gain is the day he loses my vote. His life speaks volumes of his character and abilities to do what he says he will do, and his commitment to serve his fellowman, even if it is at his OWN expense! Sacrifice of self is a rare characteristic these days.
He's the best thing that could happen to this country!
Go Romney!!!!
While Rommey is getting the endorsements of the leadership of the Christian conservatives Mike Huckabee is getting the support of the rank and file voters of the movement. It is going to be interesting to see how this plays out. I have the feeling that an upset is coming in Iowa.
Jerry - you're a very nasty man for being a government employee.  Hopefully you were a Bush
appointment.....we should be so lucky.  Your political bloodlines clearly go all the way back to Joe McCarthy & Tricky Dick.

As always misguided and delusional, like Mitt!  Time your meds!
