Bill defends Hill against 'those boys'

Posted: Monday, November 12, 2007 4:32 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Lauren Appelbaum and Elissa Davis
In South Carolina this morning, Bill Clinton said his wife can handle the criticism by her presidential rivals. "Even though those boys have been getting kinda tough on her lately, she can handle it."

This past week, Hillary Clinton has accused her competitors of "piling on" since the MSNBC debate two weeks ago. Currently, her campaign is under fire for suggesting specific questions to attendees at events. The former President has taken advantage of opportunities such as these to defend his wife.

Among touting her healthcare and energy plans to students and supporters at Trident Technical College, Clinton said his wife would be a good president because of her standing relationships with leaders around the world. "This is the only time in my lifetime I can think of that actually people in South Carolina and Arkansas, where I'm from,” he said, “are going to vote for a president based on somebody they think will make us look better than the rest of the world."

Clinton described her efforts working with Republican Senators to get things done, including bills she worked on with Lindsey Graham and John McCain. "If you notice, the Republican Senators hadn't had many bad things to say about her,” Clinton said. “Why? Because they do things together. That's the answer."

The former president also illustrated that his wife would facilitate job growth while stopping global warming and protecting our national security. “She knows the reason we haven’t had job growth is because we walked away from a serious commitment to a pure energy source," Clinton said, adding that you can’t outsource these jobs. "Someone has to be on the roof.”

He compared the increase in job opportunities that would sprout from global warming initiatives to that growth that arose from information technology, saying it would allow us to “take back fiscal responsibility.”

Clinton also said he enjoys working to help elect her, instead of the other way around. "I figure I'm about 20 years shy, so I'm trying to catch up here," he said. "She says I have to work hard ’cause free campaign help is hard to come by. So I'm doing my best."

I would like to commint on those who have done nothing but make crude remarks and ignorant assumptions about Mrs. Clinton and her campaign.

All of you who are being snide and remarking about what a joke she is, let me tell you what the real joke is.

The real joke is that we are billions in debt because of a necessiary war that has been stretched beyond imagination.  The real joke is that we have no jobs being created.  Even bigger joke that I see is that I see everyone making comments about her but guess what, NOT ONE OF YOU managed to muster up one cent of something to say about someone else doing a better job.  At least she is offering solutions, making promises that can be obtained.  Those of you who remarked the way you did regarding her and the democratic party are the EXACT reason our country has been deemed as a "bully" and we Americans our now who were once revered as a welcoming land our now being viewed as terrorists to many other countries.

That idiot sitting in the White house now has brought our country from a place of economic prosperty to a practical wasteland of fear and debt.  I suggest you people get your thumbs out of your pompasses and start coming up with solutions rather than knock on the one woman who is at least trying to make a differance James Adams, Dalton, GA (Sent Tuesday, November 13, 2007 10:11 AM)

Mr. Adams from Dalton Ga.,
You sir are a fine gentleman. Thank you for your post it is most welcome.
Peter:

recession?
Now?
Please fill me in.....

Yes it is true that Clinton left with a recession on his hands.....
"If you notice, the Republican Senators hadn't had many bad things to say about her,” Clinton said. “Why? Because they do things together. That's the answer."

Bill you're smart, has it crossed your mind she hasn't been criticized by GOP Senators, not because they are so impressed with her, but because the only hope the GOP has to retain the WH is if Democrats nominate your wife?
And, though it won't be official for awhile, how about the current recession?

You know something no else does Peter?  If so, please, do tell.  Or is the left totally engrossed with just making stuff up now?  You know, up is down, left is right, and Hillary isn't fat.
I really think that she's picked on because she is a woman.  Men still can't grasp the fact that a woman is running for president. They wiil do everything in their power to shut her down.  We're still living in the "Donna Reed days! God forbid if she wins!  Men will NOT be able to handle a woman running the country.

I think anyone who is running against her and keeps slamming her shows their stupidity.  I will NEVER vote for someone who spends all their efforts slamming their opponents.  That shows me nothing that they stand for, except putting down their opponents. Just speak the facts and give us your "stuff."  I would never vote for Obama or Edwards at this point of the game.  So far, they offer me nothing to WANT to vote for them! game!

Wendy, please explain to me one reason to support Hillary, and I'm looking for an actual reason, an accomplishment of hers. Please don't say she's smart, experienced, ect. Please provide one concrete accomplishment of hers. Has she passed one piece of legislation? (No)

Also, please explain one unfair or false statement anyone running for the Democratic nomination has said about her that was factually wrong?

Do you really believe that Chris Dodd should not have called her on her lying at the debate (claiming not to have said something you said one minutes earlier is lying and stupid!)?

You're assuming that anyone who believes that nominating Hillary Clinton would spell disaster in Nov. 08, doesn't loath Bush et al. With the exception of the Jerry's out there, most people who are critical of HRC will support her if she's the nominee, but are very concerned that if she is the nominee Rudy will be the next President, and that is why they are so concerned that too many Democrats are blind on the issue of Clinton's electability.
I really don't understand the depth of the wrath directed towards the Clintons.  I wouldn't nominate them for any medals, but when you consider our current president, who lied to get support to start a war that hundreds of thousands have died in, or the current GOP standard bearer, Giuliani, whose womanizing makes Slick Willy look like an amateur... I mean, where is all the outrage about these guys?

You will not hear to much outrage here because the repukes are a virulent mrsa epidemic that has infiltrated here and pose as ....deep thinking independent hold their nose to vote. CRAP!
They are terrified Hillary will be our president so they will attack her on any tiny bit of made up lie.
As far as they are concerned they do not like the fact she is allowed to breathe.
>> They are terrified Hillary will be our president so they will attack her on any tiny bit of made up lie. <<

At least someone now admits that Hillary lies.  That can be counted on as progress I guess.

Hillary as president wouldn't be so much a disaster as it would be comical. We'd have another 4 years of that whacky couple arguing with us about what the meaning of the word "is" is.  It would be entertaining, but fairly nonproductive.  Maybe they could stand at a podium and wag their fingers at us like we were some kind of misbehaving child of theirs.  That was always fun with Bill.
