Dodd camp criticizes new Clinton ad

From NBC's Mark Murray
Earlier today, we mentioned the new Clinton TV ad, in which a moderator talks about the "Republican attack machine" and why it's gunning for Hillary. A Dodd spokesman just issued this statement: "It's an interesting admission from Senator Clinton -- that if she's elected we're headed for four more years of the partisan warfare, Washington dysfunction, bitter divisiveness and gridlock that have marked the last 15 years, at a time when all Americans are desperate for real solutions to real problems."

Is the Dodd camp helping Obama here?

Like somehow this country isnt headed for 4 or 8 or 90 years of partisan fighting, will the new democrat roll over for the republicans or will he shove it down thier throats like we have had done to us for the last 7 years, whats good for the goose is good for the gander,I can only hope.OUR WAY OR THE HIGHWAY karl rove has taught me well.Maybe dodd wants a one party system where we all just go along or maybe she should say shes the pugilistic progressive you know compassionate conservitive.
Dodd is an equal opportunity attacker. If you'll remember he attacked Edwards by using the phony, John Edwards the angry candidate narrative that the media has been using to equate Edwards with Howard Dean...You get it...Dean was angry he lost...Edwards is angry he will lose...yeah, yeah, yeah...The only problem with it is that it isn't true.

What I want to know today is why the media is hyping this new poll as the be all and end all for Obama. Folks this is a three way tie in Iowa and all the media spin in the world won't change that.

I also am curious why the dustup between Obama & Clinton this past weekend has suddenly disappeared. We all know how the media LOVES gossip and the Novak story was full of gossip. So why did it die all of a sudden and this poll suddenly replace it? Do you suppose, unlike Dodd, the media is interested in helping Obama? It sure looks that way.
No, the Dodd camp is helping America here.
he is trying to help himself---guess he wants a bite out of Hillary first. No matter who wins there will be the same partisan warfare and infighting---I do not think the right-wing gasbags will tape their mouths shut.
YES.
NO.
Chris Dodd is right about this.  Isn't it interesting that Senator Clinton speaks about unity in one location and then feeds divisiveness in another?

We are all part of the same country and it's time we use our energy to solve our problems and stop fighting with each other.

This ad is the premise of Senator Clinton's claim to "experience".  Is this what we really want or need right now?
I find it VERY revealing that the Dodd camp so completely missed the point of the Clinton ad; not the the GOP has a slime/Lies/Swiftboat/Propoganda machine without equal, and they're fairly salivating at the thought of tearing Hillary a new you-know-what; o, no, it's that Clinton will bring all this evil into Washington (an impossibility, since Washington now holds the vilest con artists in the country already.) Why can't they just be honest and say, "We look forward to finding enormous dirt on this bitch who dares rule the well-establish Old Boys' Club!" and just get it all out there.  And anyone who knows anything about politics knows Clinton has a mountain of skeletons in her closet, which will be exhumed by the most rapacious band of liars and propogandists outside of...uh...Russia? Pakistan?  Saudi Arabia? Pick your choice.
Why don't these guys just stone her in public and get it over with?  The Dems wn't mind---they're used to losing elections!
'Is the Dodd camp helping Obama here?'

it could be said that he is helping the other front runner, you know the one that corporate america and the press despise so, the only dem that can win the general election, you may have heard of him, john edwards
Maybe.
Dodd who ?
No Dodd is not helping Obama. He isn't friends with Obama. He actually likes Clinton. But Dodd actually believes he has support, and can win. It's sad. He thinks Kerry's fire fighter endorsement was why Kerry won Iowa. His Iowa staff is full of great kids, but they will be very sorry 1/3/08
It's funny...I thought in the beginning of the summer Dodd was shilling for Hillary and echoing her in debates.  But lately he has been echoing Obama's talking points.  I wonder why he has shifted?
Obama Dood '08
It's more like Dodd has to either set his hair on fire or criticize Clinton for you media types to give him any exposure at all...

Where ARE the Biden, Dodd, Richardson etc. stories?

Richardson picked up 6 points in the soon to be released CNN/WMUR poll in NH, MORE than anyone and DOUBLED his numbers from 6-12%.
Maybe if he slams Obama's education plan, he'll get a little exposure...

Van
Yes. (And the Dodd people are right.)
Mark Murray - did you consider maybe Dodd is helping Dodd?
I'll not vote for Senetor DODD but he is a man with high intergrity. DODD hit this one on the forehead. Four more years of divisive politics by the Clintons is not what American  is ready for.
As each week passes, Hilary's overblown lead seems to be evaporating. The Dems may indeed be stuck with a loser at the time that they feel that any of them can beat their Republican opponent. They are beginning to see that the press and the pundits have been betting on a lame horse
He well by helping Obama, but more than that he is hurting himself. I can't imagine him being on the VP short list...Hillary Clinton's list that is.
I agree with Dodd, the same time this woman is talking about ruling the country she is bent on dividing it...too negative to lead...Obama is a greater alternative.
They somehow miss the fact that Clinton was talking about the Republican Lies/Swiftboating, Slime and Propoganda machine, the sleaze machine without equal in the world.  They somehow get it completely screwed around to be Clinton's fault.  Good spin!  It's why Clinton and her mountain of skeletons-in-the-closet will be torn to shreds by these scumbags, but don't worry, the Dems won't mind; they're used to losing presidential elections because of their own stupidity.
Dodd is alligning himself with Obama. His supporters will caucus for Obama if they do not get 15%.
To me, this crap just sounds desperate.  I mean really, Senator Dodd, if Clinton wins.. will you support her, or will you deflect to the GOP??? I mean, the democrats are going to have enough trouble with the GOP talking points.. let's not take a page from their playbook.  Sheesh, guys.. stick to the issues, will ya.
And you too, Senator "Brutus" Dodd.  You have been around for a long, long time with experience and you know how this stuff works. Did idealist, no matter how great they were (Gore & Kerry) win?

Obviously you want a Rep president.  Obama CAN NOT win against the Rep attack machine in "08.

I've lost respect for you.  Did Obama offer you a cabinet post?  You don't agree with him on a lot of things like driver's liscense for illegals.  Why are you abandoning your values and sticking up for him?
The media like Crackpot Chris Matthews interestd in helping Obama...what...surely not...the media is so fair, balanced and unbiased...as REAL journalist are supposed to be.

Now what motive would Crackpot Matthews and the main stream media have in helping Obama?  They love his lofty ideas...naw...he is honest and wonderful...naw.

Oh, maybe I got it.  He would be toast in the Republican attack machine...could millionaire media and Crackpot Matthews be "closet" Republicans?
No, just speaking the truth.  Wake up folks!  Iowa democrats please, please realize the gridlock and quagmire we'd have with Clinton in the White House.

Yep, I can see why some of you Obama fans accuse Chuck Todd of being a raging Clinton fan. You bet!

You enjoyed the piling on of Clinton and justified it by saying that's just what the media does to front runners.

Now that Obama is the leader in Iowa, that means he is the front runner and we will begin to see ...fairly... the piling on of him...RIGHT?
Not only is Dodd helping the many who oppose Hitlery, he is saying to America, " we need real change, not a replay of the Clinton soap opera and a continuation of corrupt politics". Right on Dodd, you or Biden would be a great vise president for Edwards who has pledged to clean up Washington politics.
The candiates should concentrate on their own, issues and how to solve the problems instead of trying to lash out at each other.  Keep it clean no mud slinging.  Do not prove that what Hillary said, they are lashing because I am ahead they are only proving that to be true.  Come on boys behave!
Is he still in the race?
Hillary will energize the Republicans
She'll bring out the Religious right to vote
She's bring out the social conservatives to vote

Hillary Clinton will lose the Senate and the House for us
She will LOSE THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

The question you have to ask is whether Richardson will ask his 10% in Iowa to caucus for Hillary if they don't surpass the critical 15% threshold.

Supporters from other sub-15% candidates like Obama and then Edwards, NOT Hillary.

The poll is less important in showing obama leading than it is in showing obama making in-roads into the hillary voting block of women and older people.

Those in-roads are critical and make the fact it also shows him ahead much more important.  It says ina  race where both of them have exposure he is overcoming her attraction to females.  or perhaps she is alienating them.  Either way he's benefitting.

If he was ahead but it largely came from youth it wouldn't be nearly as important a result.  reality 2 months out and the race is just starting to mean something.  It also reflects a change after the nevada debate the pundits gave to hillary.

Her no on immigration played well to the pundits but not the people I think.  I think many found the booing unproductive as well.  End result it looks like the people don't think she won nevada despite the media spin.
I like Dodd.

He just puts it so succinctly and accurately.

Obama/Dodd 08?  That'd be cool.
"It's an interesting admission from Senator Clinton -- that if she's elected we're headed for four more years of the partisan warfare, Washington dysfunction, bitter divisiveness and gridlock that have marked the last 15 years, at a time when all Americans are desperate for real solutions to real problems."

Helping Obama? If speaking the truth helps Obama, then YES.

I respect Chris Dodd, he is a good man. For you Hillary-lovers out there, what he says is true. We need to forget about 'fighting' those republicans and work together to find common ground. A vote for Hillary is a vote for special interests, more gridlock, and scandals. She is NOT the candidate that will restore America's reputation, nor will she bring integrity back to the White House. Obama/Dodd '08
Obama/Edwards
Edwards/Obama
Gee, that would be as effective as a Kerry/Gore or Gore/Kerry ticket.

Sure, let's keep nominating duds. Maybe we should have a Dukakis/Mondale ticket.
Ellis B. Kingman, Az.

Edwards has no chance, even if he wins Iowa, which is possible, he will not match his 04 support. The win will be explained as a fluke due to his strong support in Iowa, and he will not get the needed bump to help in NH 5 days later. And Biden would never be Edwards VP. He won't be anyone's VP, or in anyones cabinet. He has said that many times. It's the nomination or back to the Senate.
The question you have to ask is whether Richardson will ask his 10% in Iowa to caucus for Hillary if they don't surpass the critical 15% threshold.

Supporters from other sub-15% candidates like Obama and then Edwards, NOT Hillary.

Yiannis, Baltimore

Candidates don't ASK their supporters to caucus for another candidate if they aren't viable. Each caucus goer makes their own individual decision. Hillary is not the second choice of many decided voters. If she isn't your first choice, she isn't your choice.
