White House on McClellan book

Today at the off-camera briefing, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said she has discussed Scott McClellan's forthcoming book with the president, and Perino said President Bush "has not and would not knowingly pass false information."

In the yet-to-be-published book, McClellan's publisher says the former press secretary claims five White House officials -- including the president and vice president -- were responsible for McClellan passing incorrect information on the CIA leak case. As White House press secretary, McClellan had stated that officials including Karl Rove were not involved in leaking the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson.

Evidence at the Libby trial showed that Rove had discussed war critic Joe Wilson's wife and her CIA employment with two reporters. Ari Fleischer did so as well, according to court testimony.

Come on folks it all depends on what the meaning of the words “Deliberately”, “False” and “Information”. And to think the Republicans wanted to impeach Clinton for parsing the word “is”.

In reality people either have to believe everything President Bush says, or nothing, He has accomplished this unique form of polarization which in and by it’s self wouldn’t be possible had he and his campaign made such a big deal out of “Straight Talk”.

My fear is the Average American voter will learn a false lesson. Politics and governance is about bargaining. Effective bargaining requires a certain degree of posturing and yes parsing. The lesson should be that we must expect capable politicians to engage in careful speech and if someone claims to be a straight talker they are either incompetent or a more effective liar.

I wonder how many lies this administration has to tell, how many laws they have to break before somebody, anybody will finally hold them accountable. Bill Clinton was impeached for lying in regards to an affair. To date this administration lied its way into office, lied to start a war, lied on the status of the war, lied to keep the war going. lied about illegal domestic wiretapping, lied about the severity of the threat Al Qeada posed, lied about its reasoning for firing US attorneys, lied about outing a CIA operative, lied about its preparedness for Katrina, and countless others...yet remains politically untouchable. How is this even possible? The political cowardice displayed in regards to challenging this administration's avarice towards the truth by Pelosi, Reid et al is not only disturbing but embarassing and should make any real democrat ashamed that we blindly supported and believed them. I hope our next President will restore some sembalance of dignity and respectability to Washington politics.

Bill Clinton's lie was not an impeachable offense, and he was NEVER going to be convicted in the Senate.
If George Bush or Dick Cheney were responsible for the outing of an active CIA operative, their actions are treasonous, but would never be convicted in the Senate. Speaker Pelosi, recognizing that, will not press for their impeachment. Had Speaker Gingrich done the same, he would be the leading candidate today for the 2008 Republican Presidential nominee, and the GOP would probably still control congress. Pelosi is a pragmatic stateswoman, Gingrich an obstructionist.

I think what Ms. Perino meant, was that if Dubya passed on false information, it was done unknowingly, as he is at the mercy of a higher power whose Truth often times must masquerade as a Lie, for the good of America or Her Military Industrial Complexion. Dubya has been instructed that he need not think about why he says anything, and that suits him just fine. His backpack teleprompter also insures that the thinking part of his brain is not required for speech duties.

Naples brings up an interesting point. I became friends with some 'Teaching English as a Foreign Language' or TEFL Masters Degree students from Russia. One night we were discussing Kennedy and they all wanted to know if I thought the KGB killed him. I said I thought it was a plot closer to home, though I wasn't sure exactly who did it. They said that the Russians liked Kennedy and had planned on a long and relaxed relationship with him, and then his brother Robert. They said something interesting, that being they thought it was a Mobster hit, something the History Channel says did happen, Frenchmen from Marseilles, contract hitters. The Russians said it seemed for revenge, as it would have been bad for business. But I said he was taking us out of Vietnam and that might have been construed as bad for business. Nixon kept us there long enough to add 30,000 KIA to the wall, that was good for business, at least for some businesses. So Kennedy's Assasination remains a mystery to me, completely revenge, or strictly business? Just an Independent's thought.

Your boy Bill had to pay a hell of a lot of money to Paula Jones to settle their sexual harassment lawsuit.If Bill was truely not guilty he would have fought tooth and nail to win the case.

The woman that everyone was not to know she was a CIA agent had her lawsuit kicked out of court. Plus she releases a book in which the CIA took 75% of the pages out due to national security.

Bush is very fond of them, and I think we all missed the mother of all signing statements on January 20, 2001, when after taking the Oath of Office, Bush said "Not".
