White House on McClellan book

Today at the off-camera briefing, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said she has discussed Scott McClellan's forthcoming book with the president, and Perino said President Bush "has not and would not knowingly pass false information."

In the yet-to-be-published book, McClellan's publisher says the former press secretary claims five White House officials -- including the president and vice president -- were responsible for McClellan passing incorrect information on the CIA leak case. As White House press secretary, McClellan had stated that officials including Karl Rove were not involved in leaking the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson.

Evidence at the Libby trial showed that Rove had discussed war critic Joe Wilson's wife and her CIA employment with two reporters. Ari Fleischer did so as well, according to court testimony.

Kenn, the Senate does not vote to impeach. The House votes to Impeach, which is akin to a grand jury voting to indict a criminal defendant. Then, it is in the Senate where the trial to determine whether or not to remove the president based on the allegations contained in the articles of impeachment approved by the House.

As for the comments regarding Jerry, I wish people would stop giving into his pleas for attention and just ignore him ...

These people say so many things that make no sense and are outright lies I am surprised that anyone is "outraged" anymore by any lie, misrepresentation, or inconsistency that they hear about coming out of politician's mouths.

Bill Clinton set the world's record for non-stop lying and was world famous for his weasel talking ways. Hillary Clinton so good at lying she was called a good pathological liar. She was very lucky she was not indicted for her lying. She once had to repeat over and over again 50 plus times, I do not recall, I do not recall in order to keep from having to lie. After 8 years of the good honest folks from Arkansas we are really surprised that George and his crew does not always tell the truth.

Who really cares about Valerie Plame and her media wh*re of a husband anymore? If you believed that this file clerk was a real honest-to-goodness CIA agent you were totally duped as the lack of indictments show.

I voted for Bush during his second term and voted for Gore during the first election and I should not have voted for Bush for his second term. What I failed to realize was that Bush is not smart enough to be president. I beleive that religion and money should never be in politics. I am not for taking the word God off the money or out of the pledge or any of that nonsense but religion and money should never mix together in anything not just politics. I think we are all in agreement that no matter who is President that we do not expect them to know everything, but we expect them to know enough people who know enough things to keep this country down the right path. In Bush's case the people he knows are all ultra right wing conservative religious nutjobs and zealots who you cannot reason with and the only competant people he knows are from his fathers admin with the excpetion of Cheney. For a President contantly running out of the shadow of his famous and more worldly father he is forcing himself to distance himself from anyone associated with his father and that is a bad way to run a country. You are supposed to take the best at what they do from either party and make the best decisions possible politics should be left at the entrance to the oval office and anyone with valuable points of view should be heard. This President has sealed himself off from reason and surrounded himself with Bible toting rednecks and religious zealots. In eight years we have made it ok to be wrong but reasoned it away with "thats's ok as long as we stick to our guns" logic. As long as we recognze that we are wrong but keep doing it wrong that is good enough for us. The deficit is out of control and soon America will not be in control of it's own future i.e foreign countries buying up all our debt. America is financed by other countries some of them are not our friends. In almost every respect every government agency is worse off than they were at the end of the Clinton Administration. I am not a democrat or a republican. Unless Bloomberg runs as an independant I will be voting for Mickey Mouse on election day.

Any thread like this, including this one will always contain several entries from the folks on the right bringing up Bill Clinton’s personal life. Clinton did lie about a personal indiscretion and had other personal problems that were in fact wrong and he should not have done that. However, while the right was shouting from the rooftops “Clinton Lied, Clinton Lied”, his lies were at worst embarrassing, and were in no way connected to death, destruction, international conflicts, national security breeches, war profiteering, or other issues much greater than embarrassment. The Bush administration (all of them) has elevated political lies to a whole new level and made deception their specialty, yet the so called liberal media and most other politicians are afraid to expose those deceptions for what they are, LIES. As an aside, Bush did not say that anyone involved in the Plame leak would be fired, he said that there was no place in his administration for anyone who committed a crime. I thought this was a strange statement since when he said it, he had quite a few convicted criminals in his administration. Along these lines, the deception started when he first took office in 2001 and decided to side step the Presidential Records Act. Several members of his administration were involved in improper activity as members of the Reagan administration. If these records became public in 2001 as they should have under the Presidential Records Act, the public would have known what types of criminals were running the Whitehouse back then.

Jerry from Corus Christi, the House votes on the Articles of Impeachement. If there is a majority in favor of the Articles, the Senate hold the trial and either finds the president guilty of impeachment or acquits.

In !998 Tom Delay's House approved 2 articles of impeachment; perjury (228-206) and obstruction of justice (221-212). In 199 the GOP-controlled senate acquited him of both charges. With only 45 votes the the perjury article failed, and the obstuction of justice article only drew a 50/50 vote with a 2/3 majority needed. Consequently he was never removed from office and served his full second term to the end.

Then we'll see some accountablity, and Dubya and Darth Cheney can try their "I don't recall" dance at The Hague.

And how come, after 1.5trillion dollars spent, we haven't got a shot off at bin Laden? How come Afghanistan is largely in the hands of the Taliban today after spending all that money? That statement is a lie. President Bush has knowingly passed on false information.

Bush told us we don't torture. We do.

Bush told us no one could have foreseen using airplanes to attack America. Turns out there was a memo that exposed that possibility.

Bush told us no one could have anticipated the levees breaching in New Orleans. In fact, they were advised of that. Heck, the SF Chronicle had a huge piece on it days before the hurricane hit.

The Bush administration sold the prescription drug benefit as costing only $400 billion when they knew it would cost $551 billion.

Remember when Bush told us those trailers were evidence of bio-weapons labs? Turns out a team told them the contrary days before he said that. Despite evidence to the contrary, Bush continued to make the claim.

So, if this evidence stands then Bush has, in fact, lied. I welcome critical evaluation.
