Fact-checking those MA crime stats

From NBC's Mark Murray
In this weekend's back-and-forth between Romney and Rudy, Giuliani said this: “Violent crime and murder went up while [Romney] was governor, and I think that that is something that talks about not just an isolated mistake, it talks about a series of mistakes.”

Was Giuliani right about the crime statistics under Romney? Yes and no.

According to the FBI, murders (and manslaughter) in Massachusetts increased from 175 incidents in 2005 to 186 in 2006. Robberies also rose from 7,615 in 2005 to 8,047 in 2006. *** UPDATE *** As you can see in the chart below, murders and robberies also increased from 2003 to 2006.

But, overall, violent crimes (which include murder and robbery, but also rape, assault, etc.) decreased in the state -- from 30,196 in 2003, which was Romney's first year as governor, to 28,775 in 2006, which was his last year.

An inbreeder lies about a Mormon, stop the presses. Neither of these candidates has any shot at the WH. It seems like the only stories that we get with any facts and numbers are completely inane. How about an in depth news analysis of the FISA bill or the treaty that Bush is jinning up with Al Maliki.
Neither one of these guys can be trusted to tell the truth, but I see Romney as manipulative and Rudy as just plain evil.

Have you ever noticed that almost no one comments on these Mitt - Rudy stories.  All the action is over at the Obama - Clinton match-ups. ha! ha!
I think the bigger news out of all of this is how come Romney ran for Governor only once. Plus, how come no one is bringing up how many times he flip-flopped on key issues. Is it because he has a lot of money and so magically he has a better chance. He put about 12 million of his own money in the campaign.
Now Rudy is just starting to lie... guess I should have expected that from him.
Too bad costing Americans their jobs while making your own $Millions isn't a crime...hey Mitt?

Too bad funding Gay sex education to kindergarteners without their parents being informed or their permission isn't a crime...hey Mitt?

but that Mitt, he's a gooood guy.
Desperate--Haven't you heard? The surge is working, the war is won. Only 32 dead so far this month. "Lily Pad 1" (Iraq) is nearly secure and is about to be assimilated into "The Empire" If Al Maliki struggles with the puppet strings we will just appoint another Proconsul.
Rudy has shown he will say just about anything to rip Mitt and by doing so he will look like the complainer while Mitt continues to look like the traveller on the high road. Rudy is mean and vindictive, we don't need another emotive president who uses his child like qualities to stop discussion and float dissension as an issue oriented campaign. 14 months to go and it is just about time for peace in the middle east, Thanks for waiting till the time was right for you George!!# PHOTO OP ANYONE!
Mitt- the ultimate snake oil salesman.
