Kucinich: Joe is ‘wrong’

From NBC/NJ’s Carrie Dann
Biden's new "Joe is Right" ad features complimentary quotes from six of the senator's seven rivals. The missing candidate is Kucinich, whose peace platform doesn't leave a lot of room for agreement with the measured policies of the Foreign Relations chairman.

Kucinich noticed. And he's mad as hell.

Per a release issued by his campaign, "Deliberately - and revealingly - missing from the political cast of characters in Biden's approving/adoring love-fest among the Democratic candidates is Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich. …The Congressman has the utmost respect for Senator Biden and his years of service to the nation. He just happens to be wrong on some very major issues; and, if the other candidates agree with him, then they're wrong, too.

Kucinich crows that he was excluded from the "love-fest" because his policies differ so much from rivals who, he says, have supported the war and harmful trade policies.

"Joe Biden knows, and the other Democratic candidates know, that Dennis Kucinich doesn't walk their line," writes his campaign.

He was excluded from the so-called love fest because he doesn't fit in with the message of the PAID advertisement.  I didn't realize advertisements that are paid for by one campaign have to get the approval of other campaigns before being printed.

In other Biden news, a Rasmussen poll has Biden neck and neck with both Romeny and Rudy.  Very interesting, given the vast differences in coverage Biden's campaign has received as compared to Rudy and Mitt.  Interestingly enough, Biden used to trail them by double digits, and now the difference is (to use the phrase tossed about so much) statistically insignificant.

So...Joe doesn't believe in UFOs?
Sheesh, Kucinich. Will someone please pick the snarky little troll up by the lapels and tell him that the dinner has now moved to the grownup's table, and that he's excused? He's clearly unaware of how friggin ridiculous he looks every time he makes a pretense to being a viable candidate.
The "Joe Is Right" ad does not have quotes from six of Biden's opponents.... Hillary is used twice!
Biden is right. Kucinich is wrong.  He should climb up the limbs of his wife, take a long nap, and get over it.
Plus, Joe hasn't seen any UFOs.
Speaking of Iraq, I can't believe that I read in the paper that Bush and Maleki have signed or are going to sign an agreement that commits over 50,000 American troops to permanent bases in Iraq, that we will continue to give billions of dollars to an inept corrupt government that doesn't represent all of the people, commits our troops to support the Iraqi government against all enemies both from within and without the country in exchange for giving American companies preferrential treatment in exploiting Iraqi resources.

I guess so much for we went there to fight terrorism, destroy weapons of mass destruction, topple Sadam, create a democracy, fight them there so they won't come here, etc.  So we are going to sacrifice our troops and tax dollars to the tune of hundreds of millions, if not billions a year so Haliburten, Becktel etc can make billions of dollars in profits to support a goverment that is only in existance for their enrichment.

We can't come up with $27 billion a year for health, education for the poor and the middle class but we can spend billions of dollars a year to protect American Companies interests.  Why isn't this a bigger story than the petty politics being done now by the front runners in both parties.

Biden is the most knowledgeable in foreign policy.  Why are we rewarding bad behavior both in Iraq and Pakistan.  All they have to do is say they are fighting terrorists and we reward bad behavior.  Musharaf has done away with the Constitution, has created martial law, locked up judges and lawyers and other moderates who support democracy and we give him billions of dollars because he is against terrorists however at the same time he ignores AlQuida and the Taliban.  This is insanity.

We need a Biden for foreign policy and Edwards for domestic policy.  We need people to talk straight and stop posturing.
Maybe if Biden would have said he had seen UFO's, Kucinich's name would have got mentioned!!!!
The UFO's are calling you home Dennis.

Do you think the over whelming number of Iowa caucus goers care that you've never said I agree with Joe, or Joe's right on this?

Even Mike Gravel complimented Biden during the September 26th debate in New Hampshire, but not Dennis, because Dennis has all the answers.

I wonder if he'll exceed his 2004 showing in Iowa. Doubt it!
Kucinich is a certified nut job.
Couldn't agree more, Carrie.  I just contributed to the Biden campaign.  I am so tired of the media excluding so-called "second tier" candidates.  It is obvious to any thinking voter, that Joe Biden has the experience to be President and has answered questions in the debates and given solid suggestions as to Iraq, health care, etc. I am praying for a surprise in Iowa.
BIDEN '08

Joe Biden is the most qualified without a doubt. He is ready from day one to deal with Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Al Quaeda, the economy, healthcare, etc. He has detailed plans with budgets for all of them. Its great to have ideas but they won't work without budgets. Joe Biden will exceed expectations in Iowa and end up winning the nomination because of his momemntum. Obama and Edwards won't be in the race that long and it will be Biden vs. Hillary. Joe Biden will be our next President, mark my words.

Um, I'm sure Dennis would have been included in the ad if he'd ever been quoted as saying "Joe is right." What a whiny little man.
Kucinich's platform is very simple. Not complicated and confusing. Pity is "learned" folks who think that they are experts and can understand the complicated nature of politics and policies of confusing "grownup" politicians. These geniuses (just because they do not claim that they saw an UFO) do not know anything about Kucinich's stand. Please check the candidate's stand on www.ontheissues.org. Get enlightened.
Can you imagine this bombastic little nutjob trying to negotiate with someone like, say, Vladimir Putin? My God, I think I just discovered someone who would actually be worse at that than even George Bush.

Amazing.
Joe Biden is the clear choice at this crucial moment in time.  For America's sake, and for the sake of the world, we must elect this man in 2008.
Carrie - thanks for the link.  Funny how the whole article is trying to negate Biden's numbers but, in the end, they speak for themselves.
Mike Gravel is also missing.
Kucinich is our only hope.  Biden and the others will only slow our demise.  Dennis will enact the necessary changes to get the country moving towards a more real peace.  I'm talking about the one between red and blue inside our own borders.
He was excluded from the love fest because very few people are even aware he is running.
I find it funny that a lot of you are quick to dismiss Dennis but in actuality Dennis is running neck and neck with Biden in the polls. Dodd hardly registers at all. It's people like you all that make that make the democratic party so similar to the republican party by voting in people whose positions are pretty much the same as those on the other side of the isle. There should be a difference and Dennis represents the core values of the democratic party and has always been right on the issues where the others have been so wrong. I'll promise you all this, if you vote in a corporatist democrat the true Democrats will either not     vote in the general election or vote for anyone but a corporatist democrat. I will love to see the look on your faces when a republican walks right in the whitehouse in 2008 for you refusal to get behind the best candidate, Dennis kucinich.
I hear all this talk from people about voting for someone who is a women, a blackman, or a whiteman. Who cares what sex or race. How tall, how Presidentual they look, how much presents they have, or how in charge they seem. WHAT MATTERS, IS THE SUBSTANCE  AND THE ISSUES, THAT ALL!!!
Votting for a leader of our country is of utmost importance to be considerd and researched and taken seriourly, for the betterment of our country and an example to the world.
Although Dennis may be a small person, he is the proverbial elephant in the room.  The other candidates like to delude themselves into believing that he does not exist because he would change the way the game is played.  It's not a matter of voting for a woman or a bi-racial man, it is about CLASS and that is a huge issue in this country.  I am talking money here.  The haves and the have nots.  The poor and the ones with the tax breaks. For those of us who want diplomacy not war, non-profit healthcare for all that does not just continue to line the pockets of the pharmaceutical and insurance companies, and no strings (corporate campaign $) attached..we're voting for Kucinich.  And if all you know about him is that he has seen a UFO, then visit his website: dennis4president.com   You'll be amazed!
Kucinich is a strong candidate. Who else has had the courage to call for Impeachment, non-profit health care, voted against the war and the Patriot Act? I could care less what my President looks like. The important thing is voting for someone who represents you on the issues and has a record that backs those positions up. For me, that's Kucinich.
Mike Gravel is also missing.

"6 out of the 7?!?"

That's because Gravel never uttered the words Joe is right, or I agree with Joe, although he did compliment him during the 9/26/07 NH debate for voting against Kyl-Lieberman. It was right after he said Hillary you should be ashamed of yourself.
I love all the creative names we call Kucinich to help marginalize him even more, what a wonderful country we live in - yay!
"I love all the creative names we call Kucinich to help marginalize him even more, what a wonderful country we live in - yay!"

If we didn't marginalize him we wouldn't talk about him at all.
I never cease being amazed at how easily the American sheeple can be manipulated by the mainstream media and the "conventional wisdom" that they put out as 'gospel'.  The reason Dennis K. gets so little coverage or no coverage at all, is because he's such a threat to 'business-as-usual' politics.  The fact that he is short and has 'elfin' looks seems to be the only thing most people know about him; they can't get past the ridicule and the sound bytes that are fed to them by media that want to keep things "simple".

Dennis Kucinich is a very serious man--a man who stands up for what used to be core Democratic Party principles, not allowing himself to be bought off by the heavy-duty contributors who throw money to Senator Clinton.  THEY want a President who will serve THEIR interests (anti-labor...pro-war...anti-gay...etc.) thus assuring their ever-increasing profits.

I invite all of you who are tired of being "chumped" by the 'business-as-usual' candidates (who are prepared to sell their very souls for the sake of an easy victory), to get off your behinds and actually compare the candidates and their positions on the ISSUES.  You'll find that, far from being a 'joke', Kucinich advocates a platform that addresses the issues seriously...and you folks who work for a living may also find that you agree with his GENUINELY Progressive solutions to the problems that confront us.

Look at his record.  He voted against authorizing Bush to drag us into this ill-conceived--and criminal!--Iraq War.  He voted against all of the so-called "Free Trade" agreements that have encouraged the multi-national corporations to ship jobs overseas where they can exploit what amounts to virtual 'slave' labor, where they can pollute and despoil the environment without fear of criminal prosecution.  He voted against the original 'Patriot Act' and all of its subsequent incarnations.  He has stood on the floor of the House to file articles of impeachment against the most sinister Vice President in American history; and he is prepared, as President, to make sure this entire administration is held accountable for their many crimes--crimes his Congressional colleagues are willing--even anxious?-- to overlook.

For those who think he is a weakling, take a look at where he came from and how he has made his way--against all odds--to Congress, without forgetting the average American citizens who enabled his rise or forgetting the principles he grew up with as a poor kid from Cleveland.  No...Kucinich is the very opposite of a weakling, or a sell-out, or a fool.

I not only invite you to do some research, I challenge you to take the coming election seriously enough to inform yourselves on the issues AND on Congressman Kucinich, the man.

As someone earlier suggested, visit the non-partisan website [ www.ontheissues.org ] to see which candidate comes closest to representing your point of view on the issues....Then visit Kucinich's own website
[  http://www.dennis4president.com/  ].  I think you'll find that whatever he might lack in Style, Dennis Kucinich more than makes up for in Substance.
Joseph -

Kucinich can't win for a simple reason.  If America is attacked again the citizens expect our leader to respond.  When looking for a president, Americans won't elect someone who they feel will not respond with strength.

Remember Dukakis in the 1988 debate when he responded to the question from Bernard Shaw "If your wife, Kitty, were raped and murdered would you support the death penalty?"

Dukakis' response lost him the election - he looked too weak.  His answer was intelligent and well thought out but America wanted something else.

I respect Kucinich's principles and the way he always stands for what he believes.  He is an asset to the country.
To those who come with frothing mouths at the little man named Kucinich, to those who call him troll, or hobbit, or ask when the mother ship is coming, look into the mirror and remind yourself of your age. Comments like these are juvenile at best, words best relegated for the "children's table". If it were not for the amenity of the web, you would truly embarrass yourselves.

As for any adults capable of making informed decisions about the collective future of this country, and for that matter the world, I ask this of you. If you have not already, please youtube "Kucinich Replies". Pick one. Watch it. But before you do, ask yourself what kind of world you want for your children. For that matter, try and remember what kind of world you believed was possible when you were a child, before your sense of decency was tarnished by lesser men and women.

If you don't agree with DK, that's okay, your propagative. But do yourself and those you care about by educating yourself about this man. It will only take ten minutes (unless you want to hear more, and more, and more of this brilliant, brave man). Vote with your conscience, vote with your heart. Don't be kowtowed by big media, you are better then that and deserve better. Demand it know.
I think Joe is right. Not Joe Biden, Joseph Hill in Worcester, MA.

Dennis Kucinich is the clearly the most courageous and compassionate of all the candidates. His willingness to call out the bullies and shine a light on their shady deals is the kind of courage that the others are afraid or unable to exhibit. Sadly, they may be wise to be afraid. His is the kind of courage that leads to assassination.

Elizabeth Sullivan in San Diego:
I find your comments (quoted below) very revealing, thank you.

"I respect Kucinich's principles and the way he always stands for what he believes. He is an asset to the country."

"If we didn't marginalize him we wouldn't talk about him at all."

NICE.
Violence is the choice for those who are powerless to do anything else to achieve their goals.  Those who commit the United States to violent acts clearly believe that it is too weak to do anything else to advance its policies.  Just as rape is a crime of violence, so too is a war of aggression.  I support all of those who are against having the United States armed forces rape other countries.  Kucinich stands apart from all those candidates who think that war as an instrument of policy reflects the strength of a country.

Kucinich would "respond" in a New York minute...not in the stupid way that Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld responded, but in a measured and intelligent way.  The people currently in office (and most of those candidates--Dems and Reps--who seek to succeed them) suffer from the same type of knee-jerk reaction (i.e., mobilizing the entire military to swat flies with a sledghammer).

The best offense is a good defense.  Defense ought to be the first priority (a priority, BTW, that Bush & Co. seem not to have gotten around to in any comprehensive way even yet).  Strength is not always measured by how big a sledgehammer you have...or how anxious you are to use it indiscriminately.

In spite of all the sabre-rattling, propaganda, and subterfuge this administration has used to bamboozle the public into a total--and permanent!--war footing, the fact is that the terrorists who attacked us were members of a radical organization that found refuge among the mullahs of Afghanistan.  They could have been rooted out and punished using methods far short of the declaration f Bush's "Global war on Terrorism".  It would have taken lots of work on cementing alliances, gathering intelligence and negotiating through strength; but ALL of those methods should have been used before committing the whole U.S. Army and America's reputation to a war against the entire Muslim world (which seems to be what this GWOT has become, despite protestations to the contrary).  This methodology might very well have borne fruit; but Bush & Co. would not take "Yes" for an answer, although the whole world were poised to support America...until Bush decided to lash out like a pre-adolescent.

While visions of barrels of oil and strategic military advantages danced in Cheney's head, Dennis Kucinich, along with precious few others were saying 'Wait a minute!'...more concerned with the reality on the ground than they were with posturing for 'easy' votes.

Most people realize, intuitively, that WAR=HORROR...but not Bush and Cheney, who never saw a war close-up.  Even Democrats who SHOULD have known better considered their political fortunes more important than doing the right thing...I curse those Democrats who enabled this fiasco!

Kucinich and his principled allies genuinely believed that WAR should ONLY be alast resort...after all other initiatives had been exhausted.  I was in the last 'major' war (Vietnam), and I know first-hand what war's horrors are and what they cost in the long run (even IF they are 'won').  I trust a man like Dennis Kucinich to 'do the right thing' even at the risk of personal political popularity.  To me, this represents real strength, real courage, real service to our nation.

I know there are those who pooh-pooh the notion that Al Qaeda could have been destroyed through targeted police action.  I know they are wrong...but THEY should know that it was never even tried before Bush unleashed the dogs of war.  It's time to elect leaders who can distinguish between strength and weakness...between courage and folly.

Thanks, John...you said it better than I...and in just one sentence.
I think both Biden and Kucinich could respond to attack on this country in an intelligent and effective manner.  It's Hillary and the rest of the "Republicans" [sic] that I worry about.
With the exception of Ron Paul of course.
Dennis Kucinich is a viable candidate. He is in fact more viable then Joe Biden. He has won grassroot polling, and if Democrats voted like Democrats, then he would be nominated, or at least, come in 2nd or 3rd.

Furthermore, we know that the Republicans are going to vote like Republicans. What we need are the swing voters, and what the swing voters want to see is someone who stands to their principles. The Democrats lost in 2004 because John Kerry and John Edwards switched their positions, or at least seemed to switch. In my opinion, any Senator or Congressman who voted to authorize this war and did not realize a military campaign would last indefinately for many years is blind. And because they were blind on that issue, they cannot credibly blame the President for this war. Everyone knew what Bush would do if he had the power to go to war, and any Democrat who thought the war was justified, should have at least demanded a plan for the post-war Iraq. That they voted for the war, shows their misjudgement, and to vote for it without seeing a definite war/peace plan, is even worse. And then, on top of that, any candidate who is against a war shouldn't vote to fund it! by not funding the war, that makes the President do more work diplomatically! That says, the American people will only fund this war if significant process is made to make Iraq self-sufficient and get the troops home. It adds a sense of urgency to the process. Funding to the war should not be attached to funding for operations against Al-qaeda. Those are two distinct issues.
