Previewing tonight's debate

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- First Read is on the ground here in this 80-degree, February 5th state, where the CNN/YouTube GOP debate will take place tonight at 8:00 pm ET. Look for our liveblogging throughout the night.

There has been a lot that's gone on since the last Republican debate. Rudy-Romney has picked up, Thompson has seen his poll numbers in the early states decline, and Huckabee has seen his rise. Giuliani and Romney have been going after each other on everything from immigration and taxes to crime and health care. Thompson, meanwhile, has hit Giuliani on guns, and Huckabee's record is starting to be examined more closely now that he shows second place in Iowa polling -- and even one Florida poll out this week.

With all that and the GOP race so fluid, tonight's debate is set up to be a pivotal one. Expect the attacks to come and go in all directions, as each candidate vies for the spotlight. Rudy and Romney will likely take some pointed shots at one another.

Will Romney bring up Bernie Kerik? Will Rudy bring up Daniel Tavares and that Romney-appointed judge in Massachusetts? Will Romney attack others, especially Huckabee? He's mentioned him on the trail, but ignored him in a new Iowa mailer showing the "leading candidates." Will Thompson, who is vying for the same constituency as Huckabee, go after him on taxes and immigration -- perhaps even calling him a pro-life liberal again? Another question: Will Huckabee go after anyone? Can he continue with the Mr. Nice Guy front? And that leaves McCain: Will he try to trumpet perceived stability in Iraq having just returned from a Thanksgiving trip there? Will there be another Woodstock line?

And what about the others? Paul has raised a ton of cash since the last debate. Will he be booed again for his foreign policy views like at the FOX debate? Might McCain use him to highlight his own toughness or resoluteness with regard to Iraq? Stay tuned.

The greatest battle for second place in the General continues...
Who cares? They will spend the evening appealing to the most narrow minded and obtuse in the rep party...remember they all want to nuke iran and start WWIII...do any of you clueless really think we can explode a nuke on vlads doorstep and not have big time problems? Do you really? Are you retards?
I don't think we'll have the same amount of "booing" as the last debate for Paul. FOX was messing around with the sound(increasing it for the boos and decreasing it for the cheers), its actually very obvious once you watch the debate a second time.
I don't think that the front runners really need to worry much unless they screw it up royally.  There are two candidates that really need to make their mark with something that will impress everyone.  It would be Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo.  These two really need to show they have something that the others don't.  If they can't make some significant gains, then they should bow out like Brownback had the grace to; he knew when he was done and not getting enough support.
It is always interesting to watch this bunch try to out do each other; I am crazier than you, I am tougher than you, mine is bigger than yours.

GOPers; always entertaining. They even have a real entertainer for this debate; Fred.
Happy Wednesday......here goes another beauty salon cat-fight between Mitt & Rudy.
No substantive answers to the questions, just;

"I lowered taxes, and you raised them....."
("did not"...."did too"....."did not"....."did too")
"I was the Mayor on 911"
"We hate Hillary"
"God Bless America"
"Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan!"
"Clinton got a blow job!"
"911, 911, 911!"
"We hate Hate Hillary some more"
"God Bless America some more too"

If only these two would talk about the issues, Hillary would be 25 points ahead of both of them!

I hope someone asks them to expand on their uniform positive response to the question about supporting Intelligent Design. Nothing makes them pander to the far right more than an underhand lob against evolution.
Gosh, if only the Republicans could all be as smart as the Northeastern liberal elite.
The Florida Primary is January 29, not February 5th.

Why are you ignoring the new poll from Iowa today that has Huckabee leading ( http://www.campaigndiaries.com/2007/11/more-evidence-of-huckabee-surge-first.html )? Granted, it is the first ever, but it is very much in line with the momentum we have seen in the past 2 weeks.
GOP "Family Values" = Sugar Daddy Fred with Trophy Wife #2 and abortion lobbying; Rudy the Impaler's Trophy Wife #3, estranged kids, and pushing indicted future felon Bernie Kerik to HSA Chief; and Captain Mitt's Guatamalan illegals trimming his lawn whilst he hunts for "varmints."  Sheeesh. Should be fun. Good luck in November '08.
Ask Mr. Romney if he subscribes to this aspect of Mormon Doctrine:  "Men [are] considered natural leaders and providers while women were natural nurturers and teachers... and a "woman's primary place is in the home, where she is to rear children and abide by the righteous counsel of her husband" (McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 844).
I've yet to see a real debate about anything, on Fox, or CNN.  It's always a match up of their darling picks. What difference is a YouTube format if the question are screened and tossed to who they want?  I bet CNN will NOT post a poll afterwards.  Wanna bet?  GO RON PAUL!  The only guy who will make a difference at all
Huckabee has Rudy McRomney on the run in Iowa- If people gave him a fair hearing he would win hands down..he makes the others looks old and tired...He improved a state(Arkansas) two other governors had left in a mess- Bill Clinton(who we al know) & his predecessor Jim Guy Tucker (who had to step down as Governor and go to prison due to "Whitewater"- Remember that HILLARY?)  Now people are trying to throw stones at Huckabee for anything they can get their hands on...Go Governor Huck..we know you are a man of character something alot of people these days hate more than anything because you are not for sale and you are not trying to BUY the Whitehouse like the others. Money or No money let's win Iowa...compete in NH and then win the south on Super Tuesday.
###### LARRY CRAIG FOR PRESIDENT ######
Is Ron Paul seriously the only candidate that isn't interested in setting off a Nuke in the Middle East?

I mean.. this is crazy!  Mitt Romney didn't even know that you're supposed to get a declaration of war before invading a country.  He said he'd sit down with attorneys
Go Ron Paul.   I don't ever remember him being booed by anyone on his middle east policies.   He is the only one who is telling Americans the truth and has not voted strictly within his own special interests.  Check the voting record.  That is what I go by.  Action speaks louder than words.
Huckabee's what Leadership looks like ( http://snipr.com/leaderlook ). He's an adroit public speaker who awakens his listeners to their own empowerment; he summons them to action in order that "Main Street," and not "Wall Street," prevails in guarding the founding values and beliefs of the Republic.

Most importantly, Huckabee backs the FairTax ( http://snipr.com/fthuckabeeonirs ). Romney's recent WEAK response to FairTax on “This Week with Geo. Stephanopoulos ( http://snipurl.com/stephanopoulosdebate )” drew a sharp contrast between Huckabee and other presidential front-runners who will not embrace it. Huck understands the Tax Code can't be fixed with "a tap of the hammer, nor a twist of the screwdriver." Opponents clinging to the Code, and its power to grant tax favors at continued misery of working families, invigorates his campaign's raison d'etre.
Hucky is just as crooked as the rest. His record sucks in Arkansas---oh yeah throw Hillary in to take your mind off of Hucky
Politicians will be what they are, illregard of what party they belong to. But, there is one that impresses me most. I consider myself a freedom voter, I belong to no party.

Congress and the senate will always play politics, blame games and solve nothing. This is always the fact.It does not matter who is dominating the capital. We are lead by selfish leaders, looking to gain for their personal success. It is no longer about a nation and it's people. It's all about what will we get when we leave office.

However, Mr. Huckabee for me stands out as an idividual who is sincere about this nation. He means what he says. We need an honest person, we need someone that speaks the truth. We need a leader that understands who he or she works for. In this case the American people. Forget immigration, borders, economy, foreign policies, and all that other trash politicians run around us. Once they are in office, everything they say is meaningless. They all have a higher master to serve other then the American people, themselves.

Mr. Huckabee is different. Look at him during the debate and hear his answers. Please judge for yourself, truth or political lies as always. It's still a free country.
I hope they all took their cumidin, before tonights debate.

Remember the WAR . Our Brothers and Sisters are fighting a war in far away land in the middle of a Desert. Thousands have been KILLED and there not comming back. I beleive in my mind and in my heart that it is in my Best interest To nominate RON PAUL.  they dont want us in the Middle East and we dont want to be there. Plus I'm tired of seeing it on the news 24/7 I turn it off.    Easy answer.... A complete withdraw. We Will once again be able to address and cut our...OUR debt. I would recomend withdrawing Troops from across the World.  When did we sign up to pay the earth cops ? I don't remember voting for that, wake up people... This is serious. I am Casting my vote for Ron Paul. In Every Revolution theres one Man with a Vision.....

Restore the original intent.
Reinstate Habeas Corpus.

Start adressing real issues such as Global Warming, Oil usage , invironmental polution and cancer.  If your reading this You have joined the Revolution. Welcome  to reality.

Freedom, Liberty, Family, Country

Yes, Ron Paul is the only major candidate4 in the entire race (dems and rep) who has pledged to bring the troops home right away.

Even Hillary and Obama said that can't guarantee that the war will be done by 2013.  I guess that proves they all se3rve the interest of the corporations instead of the American People.

ron Paul is our only choice.
Ron Paul for Change, Ron Paul for Freedom!
