Another Clinton jab on health care

From NBC's Mark Murray

Another day, another Clinton campaign knock on Obama on the issue of health care. Today, the Clinton campaign released letters from health-care professionals across Iowa criticizing Obama's health-care plan.

Below are the letters...

1) Health care professionals from Cerro Gordo, Hardin and Webster Counties:
Senator Obama,
We are health care professionals who work in Cerro Gordo, Hardin and Webster Counties and we are writing to urge you to support universal health care. Currently, too many Iowans are uninsured, including many of our patients. That's troubling to us - those patients without health insurance do not get the preventative health services they need to stay healthy. Instead, they rely on costly emergency room care when their health severely deteriorates. This disturbing cycle puts a tremendous strain on our hospitals, public resources and, most of all, our patients' health.

Fortunately, Hillary Clinton has proposed a universal health care plan that will cover all Americans, lower costs, give Iowans choices and make health care more affordable. Given our medical experience, we think those are the fundamental reforms this system needs. Knowing that every patient we see will have health insurance is important to us because they will be more likely to seek preventative care, which helps us preserve their long term health and keep overall costs down.

We understand you have introduced a health care plan as well and that, unlike Hillary's plan, yours does not cover 15 million people. As a result, over 100,000 Iowans would go without health insurance. We're disappointed in your plan because we believe that the goal of universal health care is something all candidates should embrace. In fact, all the Democratic candidates but you have proposed universal coverage.

We also understand that your campaign claims that proposing universal health care is excessively ambitious. But we know that Hillary has the strength and experience to achieve her plan to cover each and every American - leaving not one of the 270,000 uninsured Iowans out of her plan.

The numbers of uninsured patients we see each year will only grow if we do not act boldly. On behalf of the uninsured Iowans we encounter in our work, we urge you to propose a new plan that, like Hillary's, calls for universal health care. We can't stand to see any Iowan remain without health insurance.

Sincerely,
Lee Hundson, Dougherty, RN;
Sharon Kropman, Mason City, RN;
Nancy Larson, Plymouth, LPN;
Rhonda True, Mason City, RN
Lorie Lyman, Iowa Falls, RN;
Dolores Wolf, Iowa Falls, LPN,
Kathy Lucero, Ft. Dodge, RN;
Susan Evers, Badger, RN

2) Health care professionals from Johnson County:
Dear Senator Obama,
We are medical professionals in the Johnson County area, and we treat uninsured Iowans every day. We know first hand that too many of our fellow Iowans who lack insurance often go without basic care and wait to seek help until a simple medical problem turns into something more dangerous.

Hillary Clinton has put forward a universal health care plan that will cut costs, give Iowans choices and make health care more affordable. Given what we see day in and day out, we think those are the fundamental reforms this system needs. Knowing that every patient we see has health insurance is important to us because they will be more likely to seek care early, which gives us a better shot at helping them.

We understand you have introduced a health care plan as well, and that it does not call for universal coverage. As a result, over 100,000 Iowans and 15 million people across the country could go without health insurance.

We also understand that your advisers have said proposing universal health care is excessively ambitious. To hear that sentiment from a Democrat is beyond disheartening - in fact, you are the only Democratic presidential candidate to not call for universal health care in your plan. It is not overly ambitious to expect our government to provide basic health insurance coverage for our citizens.

We urge you to reconsider your position. The number of uninsured patients we see each year will only grow if we do not act boldly, both for their sake and for the sake of Iowans working two and three jobs to be able to afford health insurance for their families.
The last thing we need is a Democratic presidential candidate taking hope away from uninsured Iowans, leaving them to wonder if they will be among the over 100,000 left out in the cold, uncovered by your plan.

On behalf of the uninsured men, women and children we treat, we ask you to go back to the drawing board and develop a plan that ensures that no Iowan will ever have to go without health insurance again.

Thank you,
Lynne Himmelreich, Oxford, ARNP, CNM, MPH;
Jill Vibhakar, Iowa City, MD

3) Health care professionals from Wapello and Mahaska Counties:
Dear Senator Barack Obama -
As health care professionals who routinely care for those who cannot afford health insurance, we are writing to urge you to support universal health care in your campaign. We understand from first hand experience the dangers of going without basic care. Every day many of our patients wake up hoping that they can get through the day without needing medical treatment that they can't afford.

Hillary Clinton has introduced a health care plan that will cover every American. Her plan provides people with the choice of keeping their own insurance or selecting another quality plan. We know that you have introduced a health care plan, but it doesn't cover all of us. In fact, your plan would leave 15 million Americans - including over 100,000 Iowans - without insurance. Moreover, we were saddened to read that your campaign thinks that proposing universal health care is excessively ambitious.

As the only Democratic presidential candidate to not propose universal health care, we hope that you will rethink your health care plan. If we do not act quickly to ensure health coverage for every man, woman, and child in our great nation, insurance will grow even more unattainable for so many people just like our patients. We believe that universal health care is an achievable dream - and we want all of the democratic presidential candidates to show they are willing to work tirelessly until all of the 270,000 uninsured Iowans have health care.

Hillary has pledged to use her strength and experience fighting special interests to make this dream a reality - will you?

Sincerely,
Judy Dejong of Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, RN;
Nancy Emanuel of Ottumwa, Wapello County, RN;
Carol Holmes Skinner of Ottumwa, Wapello County, Retired Nurse

4) Health care professional from Muscatine County:
Senator Obama -
I am writing to you as a registered nurse who has cared for many Iowans, both young and old, in and around Muscatine County. I am active in the community and feel strongly that all of us deserve access to quality and affordable health care.

I am writing to you because your campaign's comments that proposing universal health care is excessively ambitious are worrisome to me and many folks in the Muscatine and Quad Cities area. Uninsured Americans have enough challenges; not knowing if they would be among the people covered (or the 15 million people not covered) under your plan only intensifies their situation.

Hillary Clinton has a universal health care plan that will provide affordable, quality health care coverage to every single American. Iowans will have more choices, and health care would be more affordable. However, if they are happy with what they've got, Hillary's plan lets them keep their current coverage.

Your plan doesn't make the same promise - over 100,000 Iowans could likely stay uninsured if your plan comes to fruition. That's 100,000 too many. On behalf of the uninsured men, women and children in our community, I ask you to give Iowans - and our country - a plan that gives us the same hope as Hillary Clinton.

Sincerely,
Linda Reichert, of Muscatine County, Muscatine, RN

5) Health care professionals from Pottawattamie County:
Dear Senator Obama,
As active and retired members of the medical community, we are writing to urge you to reassess your health care plan and instead support universal health coverage for every American man, woman, and child. While we admire your interest in changing the health care system, we do not understand why you have proposed a plan that leaves 15 million Americans without health insurance - including over 100,000 Iowans.

Every day, our local hospitals treat patients who could have avoided health crises with simple preventative care. Instead, emergency rooms have become the primary care facilities for Iowans that have nowhere else to turn; driving up costs, overwhelming hospitals, and lowering the quality of health of many residents.

Hillary Clinton has proposed a health care plan that would provide universal coverage for every American. Her plan allows those satisfied with their health care plan to keep it, while providing cost-effective alternatives to those who want to switch plans or are currently uninsured. This universal health care solution is what we need to reverse the trend of rising costs and record numbers of uninsured Americans.

Your campaign recently said proposing universal health care was excessively ambitious. We want to point out, however, that you are the only Democratic presidential candidate who has not proposed a plan to provide universal health care coverage.

We believe it is Senator Clinton who has the strength and experience to make universal health care a reality. In thinking about the stark reality facing uninsured members of our community, we ask that you reconsider your position on this important issue.

If John F. Kennedy could challenge America to reach the moon in 9 years - a feat that required American ingenuity, imagination, and technology never before dreamed of - surely we can meet the challenge of providing health insurance for every American. We already have the technology, skills, and know-how. Now we just need a President who believes we can do it.

Sincerely,
Karole Anastasi, Honey Creek, RN and manager for clinics division of Alegent Health Systems, retired;
Vivian Dau, Oakland, RN, school nurse, retired;
Bobbie Moore, Honey Creek, RN, University of Nebraska Medical Center

6) Health care professional from Woodbury County:
Dear Senator Barack Obama -
As a practicing nurse, day in and day out I see patients who wait far too long to see a doctor for fear of not being able to pay for necessary medications or procedures. It is because of my life experiences that I strongly encourage you to support a universal health care plan. Each one of the many patients I see daily would be more likely to solicit a medical opinion if they had the health insurance to help cover their costs.

Hillary Clinton has a comprehensive quality health care plan aimed at covering all Americans. Her plan provides every man, woman, and child the choice of keeping their current insurance or selecting another quality plan. I understand that your plan leaves many families out.

Under your proposed health care plan, Senator Obama, over 100,000 Iowans would remain uninsured. The idea of health care being universal and offered nationwide is neither ambitious nor excessive, it is absolutely necessary.

As a lifelong Democrat, I really cannot understand how you can be the only Democratic presidential candidate to propose a health care plan which is not universal. I strongly urge you to reconsider the implications of your proposed plan. It is imperative for this and future generations that every person is eligible for quality health care coverage.
Hillary Clinton has vowed to fight for health care for every single American. Will you join her in this important fight?

Sincerely,
Madonna Griffith, Lawton, RN

7) Health care professional from Kossuth County:
Dear Senator Obama,

With the abundance of qualified candidates in the race for the Democratic nomination it was difficult for me to decide who I would be supporting. But as a health care professional, I know it is imperative that universal health care be achieved in the next presidential administration.

It was incredibly disheartening to hear your campaign advisers say that proposing universal health care is excessively ambitious. Under your current plan for virtually universal health care, over 100,000 Iowans and 15 million Americans will be left uninsured. They will continue to rely solely on emergency care, which is expensive for the individual and the government.

Hillary Clinton's universal health care plan gives the consumer the advantage by offering more choices and lowering costs. It allows consumers to keep the insurance they have if they like it and change it if they don't or aren't currently covered.

Hillary Clinton has worked her whole life for change. She has taken on the Republicans and special interests to work for real change. Nobody has worked harder or longer to improve health care.

As the only candidate in the Democratic presidential campaign to not propose universal health care, I think it will behoove you to re-evaluate your decision to exclude 15 million people from your health care plan. The country is ready for change and we need a leader who will get us there.

Sincerely,
Dona Tebben of Corwith, Kossuth County, Home Health Aid and Family Support Worker

8) Health care professionals from Story and Warren County:
Senator Obama,
As health care professionals we both deal with uninsured Iowans every day. It pains us when we see patients who come for care in poor condition because they waited too long before seeking the basic care they need.

This is an extremely serious problem that demands bold action, not half-hearted attempts. With over 270,000 uninsured Iowans and over 47 million uninsured nationwide, we need a president who has the strength, experience and political courage to end this fight once and for all. Senator Obama, we encourage you to change your plan and take the necessary steps to ensure all Americans will be covered.

Hillary Clinton has a plan to insure every single American - including the over 100,000 Iowans who would lack coverage under your plan. We have decided to support Hillary because in our opinion you cannot run for president today without putting forward a plan that will insure each and every American. Hillary understands that in order to achieve this important goal we need to fully commit ourselves to this cause.

We were disappointed to hear that your campaign thinks proposing universal health care is excessively ambitious. You are the only Democratic presidential candidate to not propose universal health care and, unfortunately, efforts like yours that vow to take universal coverage slow and work towards coverage as a long term goal shows a lack of commitment. Insurance companies will certainly exploit that weakness and use it to their advantage at the negotiating table.

Hillary's plan will give consumers the choice of keeping their own coverage or selecting from a menu of other quality insurance plans while keeping premiums under a locked percentage of their income. With the power of choice, insurers will have to compete for their consumers, which will drive down costs and finally make the consumer the center of health care coverage.

Fifteen million Americans and over 100,000 Iowans would still lack coverage under your plan. For us and for Hillary Clinton, that is 15 million and 100,000 people too many.

Sincerely,
Catherine Bagley of Nevada, Story County; RN;
Marilyn Kirkpatrick of New Virginia, Warren County; CPC

could you all be more biased? If Obama's campaign throws mud, you praise him as the highest of saints...

I would have supported Hillary's healthcare plan, but can't now...ouch!  Just got burned by another flame.  Hey Saddam!
Nice try Hillary...but boiler-plate templates will not pass the smell test with the American people.
You know, HIllary is right about mandates.  If someone can't afford health insurance then they can go to jail and get health care from the prison system.  Problem Solved!

Kidding aside, I'd like to see our limited health care dollars go to health care, not to enforcing mandates.
She is just playing politics as usual and she is so desperate. Why can't the healthcare professionals write the letter straight to Obama? Why is it coming from the Clinton's campaign?

I expect the Media to press the professionals on this issue and let see who is behind the political gimmick. Hillary is so dishonest and cannot be trusted. If she can plan question in republican debate, I think she is behind the letter.

This alone tells me how desperate Hillary Clinton has become.
The Obama camp should respond that unlike Senator Clinton, I will work to have my health care plan in place during my first term.  Senator Clinton has said on many an occassion that her plan wouldn't be implemented until the end of her second term.  What are the american people supposed to do while waiting 7 years for her to do something that she promised to get done when she first ran for elected office?

Also, ask the doctors what good is her health care plan if the people can't afford it?  Will you arrest them if they show up for treatment without healthcare?  How is her mandate to be enforced?  Will you not treat the patients?

My take, first off, who the hell said she'd get a first term much less a second one?!?!?  Since healtcare is such a vital and important issue to the american people, why do we have to wait 7 years for it to get done?  Will a HRC supporter please answer that question for me?
CLINTON ATTACK: "He has called his plan universal, then he called it 'virtually universal,' but it simply does not deserve the label," said the New York senator. "When it comes to truth in labeling, his plan simply flunks the test." [CNN, 11/28/07]

REALITY: Washington Post Wrote It Would Be Hard To Find Anyone Not Covered By Obama's Plan, Because It's Not Clear They Exist
Washington Post: "It Could Be A Struggle For Clinton To Find Someone Who Wants Health Insurance But Doesn't Qualify Under The Obama Plan, Because It's Not Clear Such A Person Exists." The Washington Post reported, "For people who want to get health insurance and make an effort to do so, Clinton and Obama have almost exactly the same plan: increasing the number of poor who can qualify for Medicaid, offering tax credits or subsidies for people who need help paying their health care bills and requiring insurance companies to offer everyone coverage, with the government subsidizing those who can't pay the full amount. So the 15 million people without insurance under Obama's plan would be a combination of relatively well-off people who choose not to purchase health insurance and people who qualify for public programs like Medicaid who don't sign up. It could be a struggle for Clinton to find someone who wants health insurance but doesn't qualify under the Obama plan, because it's not clear such a person exists." [Washington Post, 11/28/07]
REALITY: Clinton Campaign Advisor Said Their Health Care Plan Was Not Universal
Clinton Campaign Health Care Adviser: Clinton's Health Care Plan Will Not Include Everybody. "The truth is that neither the Obama plan, nor the Clinton plan, guarantees 'universal coverage' for all Americans, although they both aspire to this goal. Let's look at the Clinton plan first. MIT economics professor Jonathan Gruber, one of Clinton's health care advisers, describes her plan as a 'universal coverage' plan, in contrast to the Obama plan, which he terms a 'universal access' plan. But he also acknowledges that the Clinton plan will not include everybody. 'Any system that does not have a single payer will not have 100 per cent coverage,' he told me, when I reached him after the Las Vegas debate. 'But you can come very close.' ... The system proposed by Clinton is more analagous to the government-subsidized private insurance system in the Netherlands, where roughly one and a half per cent of the population is estimated to fall through the cracks." [Washington Post Fact Checker, 11/19/07]
REALITY: Analysts Say Clinton Plan Won't Cover Everyone
Harvard Program On Public Opinion And Health And Social Policy's Robert Blendon: Clinton's Health Care Plan Isn't Going To Cover Everybody; Preliminary Data From Massachusetts Shows That People Would Rather Remain Uninsured That Purchase A Stripped Down Plan. "Robert Blendon, director of the Harvard Program on Public Opinion and Health and Social Policy, estimates Obama's plan would end up covering 5 percent to 10 percent fewer individuals than Clinton's. But that's assuming that it's possible for Clinton to require everyone to purchase insurance. Blendon suspects that it isn't. 'At the end of the day,' he tells FactCheck.org, 'it's not going to be everybody. We have no idea what the actual falloff would be.' ... Preliminary data from Massachusetts, which implemented a sweeping health insurance plan last year, is showing that many people would rather remain uninsured than purchase a stripped-down plan. 'People always say having some insurance is better than no insurance,' Blendon says. 'It turns out, in some of the focus groups in Massachusetts, people don't believe that.'" [FactCheck.org, 11/16/07]
Urban Institute's John Holohan: Clinton's Plan Won't Eliminate The Problem Of Uninsured Altogether. John Holohan, the author of a study conducted at the Urban Institute, a Washington-based think tank, that gamed out various different models for health care reform in Massachusetts several years ago, does not believe that either the Clinton or the Obama plan will eliminate the problem of the uninsured altogether. "We would all be very happy if we got down to one and a half per cent," he said. [Washington Post Fact Checker, 11/19/07]
REALITY: Obama Has Been Fighting For Universal Health Care For His Entire Time In Public Life
Obama Vows To Push Universal Health Care. Chicago Tribune reported, "Armed with impressive, if purely symbolic referendum results, proponents of universal health care are preparing to take their "Bernardin Amendment" back to Springfield for a practical test next year. An overwhelming 83 percent of voters in Cook County approved an advisory version of the amendment Tuesday, calling for a guarantee of universal health care in the state constitution by the year 2000. Organizers also plan to replicate Tuesday's symbolic triumph, putting the question before voters as a non-binding referendum in other counties, towns, even school districts. State Sen. Barack Obama (D-Chicago) added that efforts would begin immediately to develop a specific program for universal health care to accompany the broadly worded amendment." [Chicago Tribune, 11/5/98]
Obama Said "We're Not Ambitious Enough" On Health Care, "You Don't Give Up On The Goal Of Universal Health Care Because...People Need Universal Health Care." New York Magazine reported, "'There are times I think we're not ambitious enough,' Obama says. 'I remember back in 2004, one of the candidates had made a proposal about universal health care, and some DLC-type commentator said, 'We can't propose this kind of big-government costly program, because it'll send a signal we're tax-and-spend liberals.' But that's not a good reason to not do something. You don't give up on the goal of universal health care because you don't want to be tagged as a liberal. People need universal health care.'" [New York Magazine, 10/2/06]
Obama Said He Will Sign Universal Health Care By The End Of His First Term. In a speech, Obama said, "When I am president, I will sign a universal health care law by the end of my first term. My plan will cover the uninsured by letting people buy into the same kind of health care plan that members of Congress give themselves. It will bring down costs by investing in information technology, and preventative care, and by stopping the drug companies from price-gouging when patients need their medicine. It will help business and families shoulder the burden of catastrophic care so that an illness doesn't lead to a bankruptcy. And it will save the average family a thousand dollars a year on their premiums. We can do this." [Obama Speech, 5/2/07]

Really Hillary... You and the word Truth just DON'T GO TOGETHER.  If I have to come up in 5 second who I think is the most dishonest politician, your face & Bill's are the first to pop up in my head.
Give me a BREAK! Grasping at straws are you? Your Healthcare plan is a COPY of Edwards. There's not single policy plan you & your people crafted by yourselves.

I mean this is what I got from you:

I was for the Iraq war, but now I not.
I authorized the Iran war, but that's not what I meant.
I'm the most experienced, but it's not a big deal that I screwed up the most.
I'm the most experienced, but can't handle answering spontaneous questions.
I'm the most experienced, but can only answer planted questions.
My campaign is the best, it has to plant question on a republican presidential debate.
My campaign is the best, by copying what the other candidates are doing.
My campaign is the best, I have Mark Penn (Blackwater)
I have the best policies, they're copied & cherry picked from all the other candidates.
I was against the healthcare mandate, now I'm for it.
I failed the universal healthcare, but it's not my fault, it's Bill's.
I was the face of foreign policy in the 90s, but you just don't hear about it. (Until now that is).
I was for driver license for illegals now I'm not.
I was for NAFTA, now I'm not.
I took money from cronies like Norman Hsu, but it's not the same as Bill's Chinese money scandal.  His Chinese mistake doesn't anything to do with my Chinese mistake.
I played gender card, but I'm sure people are dumb enough not to notice.
They just go on and on and on and on....NON STOP.

That's the best about power hungry politicians, they always find a way to self destruct.  Keep doing what you're doing Hillary & by all means bring Bill along with you.  You're doing a FANTASTIC JOB.

Hillary is so pitiful. Mandate health care?????

question how many americans out there who drive... let their auto insurance lapse??????? More than you think!! They still drive their vehicle until they get caugh, pulled over by the police, get a ticket or thier license gets suspsended or what ever. Is that going to make them pay their insurance premiums??? Yes pay the ticket and the premiums you could not afford any way. SILLLARYYY . We will now have a debtor prisons.

Now on the other hand if they could afford the insurance premium would they let their coverage lapse????
People you have to think!!!

Obama 08
More manufactured garbage from the Clinton campaign.  The exact same numbers in every single letter, no justification or reference to where they're from.  No discussion of how Clinton will mandate insurance or how much more expensive her plan will be.

Just a bunch of RN's and other health support workers trying to help out Hillary by recycling information fed to them by her campaign.  Show me a letter from an independent health care policy analyst; then maybe I'd care.
Ya know, love her or hate her, this woman is running the smartest campaign I've ever seen.

I've been very vocal about candidates not staying on policy issues and getting bogged down on their own personal opinions like "electibility."
This is a POLICY difference, and it's a gentle way to highlight it.

Kudos to my candidate, if I do say so myself.
Um, you're kidding me, right? These prewritten letters sound just like Hillary Clinton's speeches . . . it's almost as if the same person wrote them or something! lol

Oh, and give me a break with using the made up number 15 million like it's a fact. That number is about as flimsy as all that oil revenue money that is gonna begin pouring in from Iraq any day now.

"Universal" healthcare is just a slogan if you don't have ANY WAY to get your unfunded "mandate" through congress.
This is so pathetic and so low minded that the hilary campaign would recruit some workers to leviate her debate with senator obama. I think the hilary camp have been untroned of their invincibility wind and try desperately to make a point.

Why HRC can not be completely entitled to her plan and attack obama directly if they want?

Secondly if not to mark points, the letters are exactly similar and only another HRC talking point?

I dont think that the nurses that hilary recruited to PLANT these letters will there in the white house to help her again to pass the plan in the congress if ever she wins.

I am a student and i do not have health insurance, not because i dont want to have one but because i cannot afford it. I can harldly pay for my tuition and younger that i am, health care is the last thing that i want to get.

So if it happens that i cannot afford health care, how much HRC is going to fine me? She needs to answer those questions before accusing any body else plan.

We have already seen HRC limites, she had the opportunity to provide universal health care and she blew it very badly and she is the last person the american people should turn to when it comes to health care, let not talk about the national security or the war in IRAK (we all know what happenned).

I see the smoke out of the CLINTON's and it is becoming ridicule, one know that people supports them for loyality and i find it amuzing.

The country needs some fresh air and new directions, and HRC doesn't not embodied that.

Edward and Obama are the only viable candites that can take the country forward.

HRC will loose badly among republicain's and cannot unite the country.

The american people wants to move forward and not backward.

Go OBama 08.
First, there is only one MD.  The majority of the rest are nurses, not that there's anything wrong with that, but it doesn't carry the same weight.  Secondly, this is pretty obviously political theater.  Haven't we had enough of that with Bush-Cheney.  Third, don't all of these letters sound alike.  Is it possible that the Clinton campaign offered suggested points for these writers?

I reject the notion that Clinton/Edwards' mandated insurance would reduce costs and bring preventative care any more than Obama's plan in which he seeks to make healthcare more affordable to those in need.  The costs will still be there, only through the government.  Preventive care would not necessarily increase if we get a whole population enrolled with cheap, crappy, mandated insurance.  Let's take a look at how Massachusetts is turning out.  If mandated insurance has solved all problems or made things that much better, I would be surprised (not that I don't appreciate the effort).

The difference between U.S. and European care is that we here demand the best, top-of-the-line therapy.  Developing those therapies come at a cost.  How many U.S. vs. European drug companies are there?  That has nothing to do with mandated insurance, but a separate discussion our nation should have.
Ignorance and stupidity at its peak.
If all these people think Hillary has a universal health plan, why don't they just go ahead and vote for her? Why are they interested in Obama?

Wow! Hillary Clinton must be reeeaally in panic mode!

Ha ha ha ha ha !!!!!! Inevitable my foot!
Hillary will have her health care plan in place by the END of her SECOND TERM ?

That's about the same time as she'll have most of the troops out of Iraq (and into Iran ?)

I can hardly wait !!

How are those NH and SC polls looking Slick Hilley ?

OH !!
Thanks First Read for posting more of Hillary's campaign materials !!
Now we don't have to go to Hillary's web site....
We can be brain washed by First Read !!

Yaaaaay !!
Diamond,

They are writing the letters to Obama because he is going to be the next President of the United States!

lol
What happened to all that "illegal PAC" bla bla? Guess that one didn't stick, huh? This "healthcare" one isn't gonna stick either. Next.
This healthcare thing is getting out of control. I have no idea why Clinton,Edwards and others are trying to make people think that when they are president everyone will have healthcare coverage. This is not True. What are they going to do? snap their fingers and healthcare for all americans will appear. This issue is bigger than all the candidates and their ego's from both sides of the isle so stop simlifiying this issue. Barack will not promise something he knows he or anyone else can't deliver.
You will need maximum bipartisanship or mandate of overwhelming majority in both houses to even seriously consider this.Baracks plan doesn't just promises Thomases and can't cook toast like Hilliary, but a realistic plan to improve the number of people who has access as a starting point and gradually increasing the number of covered americans yearly
Hilliary could be the nominee , but people who vote for her will be a emotional decision and not a intelligent decision and this is why.

1. She doesn't play well with others which means nothing will get accomplished. When she doesn't get he way she will pout, take her toys and go home and blame the republicans for the next 4 years.

2.Should she win, again no mandate but worse because you can count on republicans not supporting her but after this long and her dirty politics in this campaign democrates will resent her for her strong arm tactics and not support her and rightfully so. Where does this leave us ? Democrates getting blamed for not doing what they promised and the results will be the republicans getting stronger through all this Clinton mess and forget about a 2nd term. If you want to crush the republican for the next 2 or 3 elections vote Obama. Even if the houses are evenly split I like his chances better than Hilliary as the person who can't get republican support on some of the major issues facing our country. Anyone who keeps having to prove how experienced they are usually has none or lack the tools necessary to use them properly.

"But we know that Hillary has the strength and experience to achieve her plan to cover each and every American - leaving not one of the 270,000 uninsured Iowans out of her plan."
Riiiiigh, becuase it worked so well when she had 8 years to get it done when her husband was in office.  I highly dooubt another 8 years would help, lets all hope she doesn't get them!!  Not to mention those 270 thousand Iowns are the ones who probably can't afford it and will be "mandated", whatever she means by that.  Since she hasn't told us yet, seeing as she's to busy focusing on other candidates proposals because hers are so weak.  Oh and Biden doesn't have a mandated plan either.  And Edwards' is way more in depth than hers.  Ugh.
WOW all YALL MAD at Hillary Clinton...

Well right now she is seeming quite pathetic... and May I also say desperate...They Her (Campaign) seems to try ever little dirty trick they can... I guess they figured if it worked for Bush why not give it a try... If Americans were so stupid to vote for Bush using this same nonsense well maybe they will be stupid again…..

Well Hillary, many us Americans are struggling financially, and what's worst is that are healthcare cost are rising, are food and house-hold cost are rising, are child-care cost are rising, plan and simple are cost of living is rising... Because she is not poor or struggling financially she lacks the compassionate of those of us who are.

I once supported you but I can’t any longer……  Your entire campaign is not in-touch with the reality of the American People…. It’s time to regroup and get a real understanding of what’s going on.....
'...Ya know, love her or hate her, this woman is running the smartest campaign I've ever seen....'

I don't hate Hillary...
I just don't like her
Her supporters say people hate her....
Maybe they just don't like her and her policies
I think she's a self serving phoney

She was running a good campaign
I'll give she that
But, she stumbled during the Philadelphia debate
She got caught double talking about alien IDs
She's been off kilter ever since

Sometimes selling 'snake oil' doesn't work
It's no longer working for Hillary
She was trying to remain uncommitted on policies

'...I've been very vocal about candidates not staying on policy issues and getting bogged down on their own personal opinions like "electibility."
This is a POLICY difference, and it's a gentle way to highlight it.

Kudos to my candidate, if I do say so myself.
Jan, Nashua, NH...'

Jan, she's sinking in Iowa
She's tied with Obama there

She's lost 2/3rds of her lead in NH... 18% ot 12%
She's tied in SC

She had big leads in all these states....
You're 'whistling past the graveyard', Jan

She didn't attack her rivals before Philadelphia
She didn't notice them
She said 'they're attacking me because I'm ahead'

Why is she now attacking Obama, Jan ?

;-)

I'm waiting for the NEXT debate, Jan
Will we see 'Attack mode Hillary' ?
nashville_fan,

i'm with you on that one HAHA. i bet the "illegal PAC" hitjob was their "scandalous information" that was released to bob novak.

looks like thye released it anyway to no avail.

hillary clinton's desperate attempts to kill this man's momentum is looking relaly sad.
So a group of Hillary supporters who happen to be nurses sign a group of letters in an effort to promote her candidacy.

This is the most ridiculous effort yet by the Clinton Campaign.

Well, here's my letter:  I am a healthcare professional and I am here to tell you that mandates DO NOT work for adults.  They work for children, because children of many families can now be covered by S-CHIP. There is a mechanism to enforce the mandate with children because they could be required to have insurance in order to attend school.  They do not work for adults and this has been demonstrated in Massachusetts.

How about if Hillary gets all of the insurance companies who stand to profit from her plan to sign letters?  They can say that they are going to thank us in advance for the multi million dollar profits that they will receive from us.

Hillary is ridiculous.  Iowa won't buy it.

Hillary has failed at this before, and she will fail again.
Obama has promised universal health care in his first term.  Clinton only promises it in her second.

Obama has actually passed universal health care for children in Illinois as a legislator.  Clinton's only major policy attempt in her husband's adminstration involved universal health care not even coming up for a vote in a Democratic Congress.

I just got health care this year, and I wouldn't have gotten it five years ago if it was mandated, because I couldn't afford it.  Therefore, Clinton's mandated plan is by definition not universal.

No amount of letters from health care professionals can alter those three key facts in this debate.
Another pathetic attempt by the Clintonistas to hold onto power.

Sorry Hillary, I'm the decider.   Obama 08!

:)
Only one MD and one MPH in all of Iowa?  Not that it matters.  Nurses and doctors aren't trained in financing / underwriting health care -- the medical school curriculum is packed just learning how to diagnose and treat patients.  If Clinton had some public policy experts explain how her mandate would work to get everyone enrolled, that would be substantive.  But her mandate won't get everyone enrolled, so the whole manufactured "issue" is a red herring.  I think she'll lose credibility on health care once people realize this.
Send me to the emergency room. Vote Hillary !hillaryclinton.com
Mark Murray,

I hope you will make a follow up story on this because this a very suspicious, most likely orchestrated by the Hillary campaign. I, as a medical doctor was first very interested when I saw "health care professionals" thinking may be a credible organization such as a "state medical association was involved. Instead a close scrutiny of the list looks like like something that can be called "Women Nurses for Hillary". Don't jump in to thinking I am elitist or sexist. I work with women nurses every day and my wife is one of them and I can't survive without them. What I care most is the accuracy of the language and the real origin/motivation/ethics of the story. For the undescerning reader a list of nurses BTW all women(you think that is an accident?) may pass as "health care professionals". But I as a physician myself know that term comprises more than nurses.

I am hoping Mark will uncover the real story and will enlighten us.

By the way, telling the truth is better than a big promise of "universal" coverage that may not happen.
ALL THE ABOVE LETTERS COME FROM THE OBAMA CAMP. WHY IS IT THAT HILLERY IS ON TOP.THIS MORNINGS APER THE BLACK ARE ENDORSING HER. THEY KNOW HE IS JUST A KID YET, THAT WANTS TO BE PRESDENT HE SHULD WAITA FEW YEARS AND GET MORE KNOWLEGE.
These letters look mighty suspicious to me. WHere are all of the M.D.'s? I bet none of these nurses exist.
Obama and Clinton. In another six weeks it won't matter what either of them says, the race will be between Biden and Edwards.

I have to laugh at you Hillary haters and republicans.  If Hillary said the sky is blue, you would call her a liar.  I've notice it's the same 10 people on this blog that constantly bash her.  You know, if you guys actually carried any weight with the rest of the 100 million people that will be voting in the election, I guess I might be worried that Hillary won't win, but since you don't, I'm not worried.

I just want to know, when she does win, will the rest of you cry that the voting was fixed? Will you claim the Republicans secretly wanted her to win and they fixed the election or will you claim the media secretly wanted her to win and they fixed the election?  Seriously, get a life.  No candidate is perfect.  Republican or Deomocrat.  Bitching about candidates every single day with the same 10 bloggers gets a little old don't you think?  How many ways can you say you hate Bush or Clinton?  Really?  I think it's funny that some are you are now calling Clinton the same person as Bush.  Now that's comical.

I must say, I will add my two cents every once in a while, but some of you are involved in every single subject and more than once and somehow it ends up bashing Hillary eventhough it may have nothing to do with her.  Don't you people have jobs or family?  If you are working, does your boss know you spend hours writing pointless babble, all the while stealing the company's money because you are not doing the job you are being paid to do?  Seriously, get a life.  Get outside, exercise, read some books, spend time with your family.  It's the holiday season for God sakes!  Share some good will towards the people you canstantly yell at in these forums.

Happy Holidays people.  Peace and goodwill towards men and women
So sad that Hillary and her team continually undermines the intellect of the general public.  Common people are way too smart for this boiler-plate letter writing ploy.  Hillary, has no respect and no connect with common everyday working people.
Obama and Clinton. In another six weeks it won't matter what either of them says, the race will be between Biden and Edwards.
Earl Farmer, Ames Iowa (Sent Thursday, November 29, 2007 4:16 PM)

It would be terrific if that was the case!  I like Edwards but, like Obama, I don't think he has the qualifications and experience necessary.  Biden does.  I'd like to see the two of them together on a ticket, but something tells me Edwards would not be willing to play second fiddle for a second time.

Does anyone know if that is true?  Has Edwards said whether he would consider the VP spot?
JIM BOM

I am a black woman who is not supporting Hillary and take it from me once Black People as whole start to see he can really become President they will leave her in a heart beat... Right now they are basing their support off of what her husband did...
And nothing more
Dear Senator Clinton,
I am not a health care professioanl. I'm am just an average working Joe. I understand that you will require me to buy whatever health care insurance you are promoting this week. Could you please provide some policy that guarantees health care to all Americans. Universal health care is not the same as universal health insurance. And would you please stop trying to bash the plans of Obama or any other candidate that has a different plan from your own. Like I said, I'm just an average Joe, but I would like to hear you talk more about your plans so that I can make a choice in this election. I'm sure that Senator Obama can speak for himself.
Sincerely,
Average Joe
LPNs and RNs?  Is Hillary serious?  She found a group of her supporters to write letters and that's supposed to mean exactly what?

Where are the number crunching professionals?  When she gets a bunch of letters from a bunch of esteemed number crunching professionals then I'll pay attention.

TW, NY
Thank you for mentioning that. I was wondering the same thing. You see these people almost everywhere, any article about Hillary they attack back, anything Obama they praise. I wonder if you guys are hired by Obama to cover the media ? Why are you doing this ? My friends keep asking me the same thing and I believe lots of people are wondering why you guys doing this ?
This is a desparate attempt of the Clinton Campaign to undermind supporters of other candidtes.  The scary thing is HOW LONG will it take for one of the Health Care Professionals to leak that they've been paid to write these letters.
Define Stupid....Hillary Clinton!
If you turned over every rock in the world you could not find 2 more dishonest and untrustworthy people.. Hillary and Bill...throw in Jimmy Carter and you have the 3 biggest idiots!
Does or should government also "gurantee" our job, our ability to pay rent/mortgage, certain amount of grocery for our house, oour car insurance or credit card bills? Where do Clintons get the idea that universal means forcing people to do something. Universal coverage means providing access to a high quality but affordable healthcare coverage to all people regardless of their employment status or pre-existing conditions. But at the end of the day, citizens are responsible for their own lives, their choices and priorities. You can take the horse to the water but you can't make the horse to drink. Clinton thinks she will force the horse to drink and Obama is focused on finding the water for horse and horse is responsible for drinking. Obama's plan does provide "guranteed" coverage for children though by making parents responsible to buy coverage for the children.

With only 51 vote in Senate, how Clinton will pass a bill like this. She can't period. To gain support from both sides, the plan should be a realistic one. Reduce cost, improve quality, protect children, and adults act responsibly to keep them covered when it's affordable. Obama is a pragmatic, practical politician. He knows what is an ideal goal like covering 100% people with "gurantee". But he also recognize the political reality and what is practical to achieve. You can not give up opportunity to make a huge improvement in healthcare just because you are too hung up on the most ideal solution which can be treated as extreme by your political opponents. Compromised, negotiated and almost ideal achievable solution will be always attractive to Obama then pushing for an ideal solution (guranteed coverage) that will not find enough support in congress and will never happen. When Clinton says Obama is not covering everyone, it sounds like healthcare reform is a free federal program, she is giving it free to all and Obama is not.

Mandate or not, some people won't buy because they will take risk or they have other priorities in life. Mandate or not, most people are individually responsible to buy their own and their family's coverage. So what's really is your point Hillary. You Clintons are shameless people. You want to exploit people's sufferings and country's sufferings for political purpose. If you are so passionate about universal coverage, why you DID NOT support it in 1993? WHY you could not pass the healthcare reform in 8 years during Clinton presidency? You were the head of healthcare taskforce. Millions of people suffering today because of your mistake. The approcah you are taking to solve it will never get bipartisan support, will never see the light in congress, people will keep suffering. And may be your daughter will campaign for presidency on the same issue down the road.
Talk about missing the point; She is hammering him with her strongest issue (health care) and targeting her largest constituency (women)in a race (Iowa) that everyone agrees is tight. Now Edwards is following suit.
Obama supporters say he's the front-runner in Iowa, based on ONE poll (within the MOE) so now he will get to experience what the actual front-runner (Hillary)has been dealing with for the past month.

Bruce Willis, as John McClane in Die Hard said it best, (when the police car goes over the embankment in a hail of bullets), "Welcome to the party pal!"

It's only beginning...

Van
has anyone taken the time to think of not only the fact that people could get in legal trouble if health insurance is mandated, but that the health industry will be served very well if a mandate is implemented? mandating isn't covering everybody. it is enforcement even upon those who can't afford it. it isn't only the poor that can't afford health insurance. to say you will mandate health insurance by ant candidate isn't universal insurance. how would you liked to be forced to purchase something you can't afford? The health industry and it's lobby is already rich without the mandate. do you really think mandating health insurance is hillary's idea? just look at what industry is one of her largest contributors, please and has always been. Let's hear what your pla is hillary and john. not just say mandate, mandate, mandate. think people. she is super slick with perception. she is going to line her pocket at your expense. the health lobby is one of her biggest bed fellows.
Justwaitandsee (Sent Thursday, November 29, 2007 4:38 PM)

So you believe that they will vote for Obama BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN?

You have a very low opinion of the African-American population.
What is Hillary going to do? ARREST people who cannot afford to sign up for her MANDATES?????  She is LYING to the American people. Wake and read Obama's plan. He will not LIE to the people.....We need VISION and JUDGEMENT not more so-called experience and lies and what is is's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obama explains stance on health care, talks international expertise
Foster's Daily Democrat | November 28, 2007
By ADAM D. KRAUSS

Barack Obama says if he's elected president, the nation's health care business would be beamed into households.

Speaking about his plan for universal care - which he insisted is virtually the same as two of his rivals in the race for the Democratic nomination - the Illinois senator said he'd get different groups to agree on a plan in front of television cameras.

The process would be much different from the approach rival New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton took in 1993, he said, when "they decided to go behind closed doors ... and not let anybody in the room."

"We will have a long meeting" of doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, employers, workers, patient advocates and, without letting them monopolize things, insurance and drug companies, Obama said Tuesday, during an editorial board meeting with Foster's Daily Democrat. "It may last a month. It may last two months. It will be on C-SPAN."

What a disgusting move by a potential PRESIDENT to release that kind of misinformation...

Obama's plan will COVER everyone who WANTS IT.  Hillary, on the other hand, CANNOT FORCE ("mandate") people who DO NOT WANT IT to get it.  Her misinformation campaign is exactly the reason why people do not like President Bush.  A President must always be HONEST about policy.  America is sick and tired of political GAMES PLAYING.  Hillary is an expert at playing games, unfortunately, that DOESN'T LEAD to POLICY RESULTS.
