Dem race tighter than ever; Huck surges

Posted: Sunday, December 09, 2007 8:55 AM by Chuck Todd

From NBC's Chuck Todd, Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro
If the first round of MSNBC/McClatchy/Mason-Dixon presidential state
polls are any indication, we're in for a wild ride these next six weeks.

The only candidate in either party with a lead outside of the margin of error in the big 3 states (Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina) is Republican Mike Huckabee who sports a double-digit lead over his nearest competitor. No Democrat has a lead outside the margin of error in those three states and the Republican races in both New Hampshire and South Carolina are also margin-of-error close.

We'll get into the weeds of the polls in two party-specific subsequent posts, but here are the basic highlights.  (Click here for more on the Democrats; Click here for more on the Republicans)

All of the MSNBC/McClatchy polls were conducted by Mason-Dixon Dec. 3-6 and they surveyed 400 likely primary or caucus-goers in each case. They have a margin of error of +/- 5%.

IOWA
-- On the GOP side, just three candidates registered double-digits. Huckabee nabbed 32%, Romney followed with 20% and Thompson was third with 11%. McCain was in fourth with 7% and Giuliani nabbed just 5%, his worse showing in any Iowa poll this year.
-- Simply sporting a lead in Iowa right now can be considered good news for Clinton partisans, so while her two point lead over Obama is statistically insignificant, a lead's a lead. Clinton nabbed 27%, followed by Obama at 25% and Edwards at 21%. No other candidate scored double-digits, including Richardson who came in at 9% and Joe Biden who rec'd 5%. As for the all-important second-choice category, all three Dem frontrunners are tied, with 30% picking Obama, 29% naming Clinton and 27% selecting Edwards.

NEW HAMPSHIRE
-- Obama's momentum in Iowa appears to be carrying over to New Hampshire as he trails Clinton by a mere three points. This is the tightest result for any New Hampshire Dem primary poll this year. Clinton gets 30% to Obama's 27%. Edwards barely cracks double-digits with 10%, with one in five primary voters undecided.
-- Could the GOP primary be turning into a 4-way race? Possibly. Romney's once insurmountable lead appears, well, surmountable. He leads the field with 25%, followed by Giuliani at 17%, McCain gets 16% and Huckabee edges into double-digits with 11%. Nearly one in six voters are undecided.

SOUTH CAROLINA
-- In The Dem race, Clinton's lead is just three points over Obama, 28-25, with John Edwards scoring a very competitive 18%. (Remember, Edwards won this state in the '04 primaries). No other Dem receives more than 2%.
-- On the GOP side, the improbable rise of Huckabee is not just an Iowa story anymore. The former Arkansas governor leads a very competitive primary with 20%, followed very closely by Giuliani at 17%, Romney at 15%, Thompson at 14% and McCain at 10%. Nearly one in five S.C. Republicans are undecided, highlighting the fluidity of the race.

NEVADA
Mason-Dixon also has a Nevada poll out Sunday that the firm conducted for the Las Vegas Review-Journal.  The survey was conducted Dec. 3-5 with 300 likely caucus-goers surveyed in each party. On the Dem side, Clinton led with 34% followed by Obama at 26%. No other Dem popped into double-digits as Edwards rec'd 9% and Richardson 7%.

Among Nevada Republicans, Giuliani led with 25%, followed closely by Romney at 20% and Huckabee at 17%. Thompson and McCain failed to register in double-digits with 9% and 7% respectively.

-----CLINTON SLEEZE FATIGUE WILL INVIGORATE GOP, DISPIRIT DEMOCRATS AND SINK DEMOCRATIC TICKET-----

-----EDWARDS/RICHARDSON TO WIN-----

It is possible that Senator Clinton is the best candidate.  However, even though many may like the policies that Senator Clinton proposes, they should also consider her record, just as Senator Clinton insists.
.
The last Clinton Administration, when faced with the fact that protection rackets where assaulting, torturing and murdering people with poison and radiation, chose to avoid its responsibilities to incarcerate the criminals and to protect the citizenry.
.
Instead, they made a deal with the criminal gang stalker protection rackets to leave them alone and to consequently abandon the citizenry.
.
Do we want a President who sells out the citizenry for votes?
.
Do we want a President who sends a "crime does pay" message to society?
.
Would you vote for a President who signed nonaggression deals with the KKKlan or the Nazi party? Gangs that torture with poison and radiation are much like the KKKlan and Nazi Party.
.
We do not need a sellout President. We need a principled leader President.
.
If you are one of the few who do not know what the above refers to, do a web search for “gang stalking” to see the tip of the dirtberg.  Please do it before you decide to reply to my post. Here let me make it easy for you: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22gang+stalking%22.

Clintonites in full force today, as Hillary, her mom, and daughter, parade around acting 'authentic and grande' (in non-Hillary political speak, planned and paraded and scripted) to try and combat the massive force that is Oprah.

Difference between Hillary and Oprah: Hillary asks women to vote for her because she's a woman.  Oprah asks women to vote for someone based on their own thoughts and opinions.

Which one is a greater trumpet for women's rights?  Well it depends if you trust a woman that made it on her own or trust a woman who only made it into politics attached to a man's hip.

It's no longer 1970.  Women deserve to have their thoughts and opinions respected just as much as their sex.  Suggesting that a vote for a woman purely because she's a woman objectifies her into political pornography.  A strong woman, telling us all how to think and what to do.  Suggesting that a vote (or not voting) for a woman because she has the best ideas (or the worst ideas), that transcends sexism and puts woman on an equal plane.  Telling women to think for themselves, THAT is TRULY magnificent.

I know I can think for MY self.  And guess what?  Women have the RIGHT to vote and the RIGHT to form their own opinions.  And for me, Obama has the answers.
More "revisionist journalism" from MSNBC. I guess Ron Paul dropped out of the race? It never ceases to amaze me that these "news" organizations arbitrarily omit undesirable information. You know: Like the fact Ron Paul leads several of these candidates in several of these polls. Congrats folks.....congrats.
THEN HERE'S TO THE CITY OF BOSTON
THE HOME OF THE BEAN AND THE COD
WHERE ROMNEY SPEAKS NOT TO HUCKABEE
AND HUCKABEE SPEAKS ONLY TO GOD
Nevada's polls is what shocked me.  I knew clinton was slipping in the other early states.  Her 20 point lead vanished in nh and she is tied in SC with her now much lower than Obama in African American support there.
But, Nevada is like Clinton country.  The state's political machine is an extension of the clinton machine and she has always been far ahead of anyone.  There simply was no contest there.
Now we see her with a mere 8 point lead and falling.
And Oprah is not even going there to campaign.  lol.
this poll is the one showing that Obama has the momentum and is becoming a force to roll over clinton.
Very nice.
Huckabee is for real. He is climbing everywhere, including Michigan, where one poll has him leading. If he can keep the momentum going for another week or so, Christmas will freeze people in, and he will win the Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, and S. Carolina, and the Florida.

Then super tuesday, where he will take more than he looks like he could take today.
Mike Huckabee will save you tons a money if you elect him as President

Benefits you will receive if you vote for Mike Huckabee:

1. He will eliminate the IRS
   a. You can take home 100% of your pay.
   b. Government reduces spending by $50m/yr
   c. Companies return from overseas outsourcing.
   d. More jobs become available in America.

2. He will switch to alternative fuels in 10 years.
   a. Middle East feels the pressure, drops oil prices.
   b. Gas prices drop like a rock saving you thousands.
   c. Middle East cracks down on terrorists very hard.
   d. The environment improves making air cleaner.

Whether you are Democrat, Republican or in between Independant, all of you would want these benefits. Mike Huckabee is the ONLY canididate willing to make these changes.

Do not let all the other canidates, media and naysayers of negative politics get in the way of you receiving these huge benefits. It's only possible if you vote for Mike Huckabee.

Wow.
Clinton's campaign is faltering...

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/12/09/news/letter.php?page=1

However, within the past week, Obama's lead has gained ground.

The Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll released a week ago showed he had a slight edge over Clinton, with 28 percent of likely Democratic caucusgoers over her 25 percent and Edwards' 23 percent.

A Newsweek poll released a few days later showed Obama with a 6-point lead over Clinton.
Mike Huckabee's rise should be no surprise. The GOP race has been so fluid up to this point precisely because voters have been unsatisfied with their choices. The only thing that held Huckabee back from the very beginning was the early annointing of the "frontrunners" by media elites (such as yourselves) and the unfair classification of Huckabee as "second tier." All the voters had to see was that Huckabee was a viable option...and once he proved that the avalanche began. Mark my words, the avalanche has only just begun. It will extend far beyond just evangelicals and, ultimately in the general election, Huckabee will prove to have the ability to draw in moderate Democrats and independents a way that would make Reagan jealous.

Nominating Huckabee WILL result in an landslide victory for the GOP in 2008, regardless of who the opponent is.

Mark it down.
Clearly, the momentum is trending Obama...Clinton's got her work cut out but it's not yet time to hit that panic button...
Cool numbers. I wonder what happens on the Democratic side when the Oprah effect trickles down into poll numbers.

Personally I'm not expecting too much, as endorsements rarely translate into too many votes. But then we've seen reports of how these rallies have been adding new volunteers, etc. Plus they continue the buzz, which currently has Obama moving the right direction, so we'll see.

I heard someone on TV saying Edwards is still the candidate to beat in Iowa, as his long entrenched organization is worth about 10 points above where its polling. I suppose the thinking is that his supporters will be more reliable on caucus night.

My guess is if he finishes second or lower, he'll throw in the towel before New Hampshire. If he wins by a few points, he won't, but the top level guys in the campaign will know its most likely over. At that point, South Carolina will either keep him going or bring his withdrawal from the race.

The thing is Edwards has very little chance of being president, but his decision whether or not to hang in there through Tsunami Tuesday may well determine who the next president will be.
People are beginning to realize that they would like to see an end to the nepotism.  Hillary's spouse was the President. That does not make her any more qualified than George W's wife or Margaret Thatcher's husband for that matter.  America is not a monarchy... we are a representative democracy.  It's time we started acting like one.
Being married to the boss...
failing at enacting health care initiatives...
carpet bagging into a weak senate race post...
and giving Bush the green light to invade IRAQ...
do not qualify one as experienced.

It's time to WAKE UP America...

-  so Rise and Shine.

Obama 2008.
If you all could actually publish the complete poll numbers instead of your selective and amateurish interpretation of them, that would be great.  Thanks.
uhh, hgasn't Hillary been a Senator for 7 years now, on the Armed Services comittee. I don't think that's JUST being someones wife as you put it.
This OBAMA SURGE is REALLY a SURPRISE ! As an EDWARDS supporter,I must now RECONSIDER OBAMA as a SERIOUS CANDITATE ! Some of the remarks by MS.OPRAH WINFREY regarding doing the SAME THINGS and EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT,really hit home ! I for one want to get AWAY FROM A LOBBYIST RUN & PAID ROR GOVERNMENT !
OBAMA MAY BE THE TICKET OUT !!
I think you have to look at the candidate who has the surge down the stretch. Obama's team is very sharp and poised to do well in Iowa... http://www.enewsreference.wordpress.com
This poses a problem for Chris Matthews and all fo the MSM.  The storyline was supposed to be Obama going PAST Hillary in Iowa, leading, and catching up nationwide.

But oh those stubborn facts...

This shows Hillary weathering 6 weeks of attacks from all sides and still leading in Iowa, and everywhere else. If only by a few points.

There hasn't been 1 positive statement or stoy made by "pundits" or newscasters about Hillary since the debate 6 weeks ago.

She truly is incredible. She is showing strength.

The Iowa numbers are confounding everyone.  I suspect someone will release another Iowa poll. QUICK.
John Edwards is the best canidate with a REAL chance to win against the republicans. He has the highest percentage of second choice voters in Iowa as well.

John Edwards 2008!!
Let get real here. America is not ready to vote Obama in eventhough he is the ideal candidate for the job. I used to live in the south which qualifies me to see through Americans' way of thinking ....it's pitty that such a qualified fella will be denied to serve just because he was born in a certain color. Count the number of colored CEOs vs the other race....see where I'm coming from?  You can beat the drums all you want but the country still far behind when it comes to equality...By the way, I have to applaud Bush for Rice and Powell....if Clinton was to ticket with Obama and they won....the next Obama will have a solid chance...For those who like fantansy you can disagree, I'm telling it as it's. America is NOT ready!! A country where residential demographics are so distinct like America? Yeah right!
A word about Hillary's and Edward's health care proposal;

What makes their plan universal is that it FORCES everyone to buy health care from private companies.  The best the poor can hope for in this situation is that the price of health care would drop drasically.

It probably won't.

I'm from Massachusetts.  Mitt Romney pushed that SAME plan on us, and costs have barely gone down.  This is America, we should have a CHOICE about purchasing health care.. especially when it costs so much.

Obama/Edwards 2008! Time for the new guard to ascend and the old Washington establishment to whither away!
Oprah hit a home run yesterday and for folks that think this election is going to be politics as usual should reconsider their stance.

It is time for change and this country need a new era of leadership. We want someone that can unite us around one common purpose and destiny. Obama all the way baby.

Obama’08
It was wonderful to see all three generation with Mrs. Clinton, that’s the kind of support we woman need in this mans world, which is currently a mess! Shame on Oprah! Who put woman back 50years… Madame President of the United States…it's an extraordinary thought. We truly are in a momentous time, where a woman's potential has no limitations," "Hillary Clinton has already proven to a generation of women that there are no limits for success. She is driven by her passion for public service and her belief in the enormous potential of our country. Smart, capable and strong in her convictions, Hillary has transcended the dictates of what is thought to be possible for our time.
"Hillary is a powerful voice for change as we find our country at an important crossroads. Under her leadership, our country will regain its respect within the global community. She will prioritize issues of global climate change, universal healthcare and rebuilding a strong economy. After 8 long years, the public will once again have faith in their government.
"Another former first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt once wrote, 'In government, in business, and in the professions there may be a day when women will be looked upon as persons. We are, however, far from that day as yet.' More than 50 years later 'that day' is now upon us…and Hillary Clinton is ready to shatter through that glass ceiling for all women."
SHAME ON YOU OPRAH!
VOTE FOR CLINTON

Yes, go to Mike Huckabee's site and read his stand on taxes and health care. If that doesn't scare you into voting for someone else I don't know what will.
These polls are rigged and ridiculous.  When they call they don't mention Senator Ron Paul, but they give a 6th option called "ANY OTHER CANDIDATE."  Well DO THE MATH!  There is 25% MISSING FROM THE IOWA POLL!!!  I WONDER WHO GOT THAT 25%?!?!  No body believes that you are at all credible for reporting these polls as news.
I'm a Democrat and the "ideal" ticket would be Clinton-Obama. But I'm also very pragmatic. The odds of a black or woman winning in this society are rather slim. In a close race a difference of one or two percentage points can be the deciding factor. It only takes one or two people out of every 100 who would normally vote democratic but would not for a black or women to mean the difference. Symbolism doesn't count worth sh** if you don't win. My wife who is from a small town in Illinois was the one who broke me away from the "anyone who wouldn't vote for a black or woman wouldn't vote democratic anyway" illusion. Her dad who died in 1994 was a democrat because he always was. He was also a racist who used the "N" word all the time. He would have never voted for a black or woman. As I said it only takes 1 or two per 100. Besides, there is a reason the last two Democratic presidents were from the south. I support Edwards as the best chance to win. He can hold together the traditional blue states and then needs only one or two from the south and we have it. (He should take Richardson as VP for the same reasoning.)
(A side story. Back in the mid 70's when my wife and I were just dating she was going to Florida on vaction with her parents. She was afraid she would not come back "tan enough". I told her she would come back so dark her dad would be prejudiced against her. She told me later her mom thought it was funny. Her dad didn't like it at all (;-).)
any one exceept Hillary!!!!
any one exceept Hillary!!!!
American do not need Oprah to make informed decisions.
It is funny that Obama is nothing without Oprah lifting him up.
I really do not give much to Oprah's show or her opinion. All she does is go with the wind. I really do hope the america is not the Oprah's audience as she is as bad as a mullah in Iran - when it comes to force feeding her idea's. My 2 cents

But me being a republican can be so happy with this -Hillery will be a good tough intelect that is unbeatable. But Obama is very similar to Dubya and any one like Dubya is beatable in this election. Go Republicans...
C'mon people, haven't you had enough of celebrities. The only reason why Hillary is popular is because she is a woman, not because of her ability to run this NATION, she has not run anything even as a Senator. She will bring with her Clintonian baggage, the remants of Bill's presidency and all the rightwing hatred of the republicans and evangelicals, Oh my, he lied about a sexual encounter, the country will die in shame. As for Obama, still wet behind the ears being a democrat he might know where Mexico is located. He doesn't have the same credentials for the presidency as Gorge W. Bush. Bush was a govenor, he ran one of the largest states in the nation. He totally screwed it up just like he screwed up all of his business ventures and finally our international reputation as a country that other nations should follow. The only nations who follow the US now are those that believe in torture, inprisonment without trial or representation and those that believe in a repressive society, you know like the ones we are currently at war at or led by dictators. Obama has no experience but talks a lot of bull crap. A Black celebrity Endorsed by a black celebrity who in all actuality most likely supports him because he is black. This nation needs real leadership not bull and smoke like Obama and Hillary are spewing. We need Edwards. Listen and read his campaign promises, if you do more than likely you will vote for Edwards.
unfortunaley my general feeling is that when i read some of the comments i get the feeling they are the support of there party canadate and they have a tendency of giving information best for there canadate. Again i urge undecided and independent  voter not to support any of the canadates until we are sure we have the best canadate for president/ at this time my general feeling is that four of the stop are not and we have to find someone who will support ordinary hard working people....dont let there dollars fool you..promise havent changed delivery Has   Independents let get united and control the outcome.
AMERICA IS TOO RACIST TO VOTE FOR OBAMA AND TOO SEXIST TO VOTE FOR A WOMAN!!!!
How could Obama give an opinion when he can't think At age 10 he probably couldn't spell especially foreign policy. That was the best joke of the year. I hope Hillary comes out with another one. As far as Hillary introducing her family, that's the difference between her and Obama. Obama comes from a broken up home, and has lived here, there and everywhere. He's had some home life. And when you are boozing and taking drugs you have no life. That must have affected him because he certainly don't know how to make campaign speeches. He needed Oprah to do that for him. Is she running for VP? Of course she wants the job. Why do you think she's campaigning for him. She would have to take over because he's too dumb to become president. College didn't do a thing for him. They pushed him thru to get rid of him that's why his brains are in this butt and he don't know what window to throw thm out of.
obama is not presidential material. the republicans want obama. They know they cant beat hillary. wake up people! We need someone who can lead from day 1. not a realative of bush and cheney. and certainly not someone who pretends to know things he doesnt.
Cheers to 'newliberal' for bringing up one interpretation of the poll. The manufactured horse race of the Iowa primary is so silly. Clinton is getting her lickings all around but what I can't understand is all the vitriol towards the senator from New York. There are no attacks on Obama to the same effect because he simply has not achieved enough to inspire so much criticism.   This is totally unlike the 1960 election where Kennedy was narrowly elected to reflect the changes that had already taken place in society after eight years of the Eisenhower status quo. Conversely, Bush tried to bring the country back to the Eisenhower years. GWB was a disaster in every sense and the person who wins next November will not be chosen to reflect monumental changes in society. Instead, the President-elect will have been elected for one simple reason: to restore our country's dignity and premiership, socially and economically. What is truly MAGNIFICENT is that we as voters have some truly great candidates and thus, some fantastic choices who are all polite as hell and don't 'tell' any voter what to do. All three are earning whatever support they have, vote by vote.  Clinton, Obama, and Edwards are all competent but the choice ultimately comes down to what this country NEEDS now and which candidate can FIX these problems. It is early in the process STILL and we democratic voters are feeling idealistic, now resulting in the tightening of the race. Yet, as the season wears on, voters will begin to watch ever more closely. This isn't over by any means for ANYONE and there is a long road ahead for all. We are a part of this process, too! Enough with the vitriolic attacks! I dare all of the bloggers here to actually focus  on 'issues' instead of resorting to vacant sarcasm and pointless criticism. We have enough Ann Coulters already! Isn't this what we ask the candidates to do?
Don't count Edwards out just yet, but he really should have been running as the incumbent VP! His time has passed, through not fault of his own. I see Obama as most vulnerable due to his relative inexperience. History is not ready for him, though his time may come again. Since we cannot have all three, my vote is for Clinton. Why? Regardless of her gender, I am confident in her ability to provide leadership. Clinton does not pander to the partisan base. She fosters inclusivity and I particularly admire her self-awareness, which brings conviction along with an understanding and respect for the opposite viewpoint. It ranks high that her Republican colleagues have very kind words for her, when she once was derided by these same people as the man-hating lesbian anti-Christ that some still choose to believe. She is not that and hardly anything close to that caricature. Simply put, Clinton is going to get the job done and can lead our citizenry to a better and more peaceful future. There is no doubt on my behalf.
Go Huckabee!!

If elected, he will:

1) Have mandatory creation science tuaght in every classroom;

2) Have all gays moved into concentration camps.  Those with AIDS will be quietly euthanized;

3) Repeal the 1st Amendment to the Constitution and impose laws making church attendance mandatory - no LDS, Catholic or liberal Protestant churches permitted.  Southern Baptist churches will be the only acceptable variety.  Synagogues, Mosques, Hindu Temples and Buddhist shrines will be burned;

4) Prohibit alchoholic consumption, smoking, dancing and consorting with those who do;

5) Repeal all gun registration and background check  laws in the U.S. and give tax credits to those who own semi-automatic rifles;

6) Declare himself "Pastor-in-Chief".

Huckabee in '08!
If Mike Huckabee is President, he'll tax your rent money. Do you pay rent? Add 23% every month. Want a haircut? Add 23%. Think gas prices are bad? Add 23%. Buying Christmas gifts online? Add 23%.

Get a home mortage tax credit now? Not under Huckabee. Child credit? Not under Huckabee. Charitable tax credit? Not under Huckabee.

Doing away with the income tax might sound great, but the devil is in the details. Spend money and Huckabee's taxes will bleed you dry.
correction melodymg. Republicans WANT hillary because enough people hate her that they'll be able to mobilize the GOP and she'll lose. Trust me, if she wins the democratic nomination, the next president of the united states will be a republican.
I bet if there were no poll statistics the outcome would be different as the poll convince some voters that the outcome is already decided.  The media is the biggest fault. And a vast majority of voters wont vote.

I am a certifiable political junkie - and I have this very strong gut feeling that Obama is unstoppable! It's not just the enormous crowds yesterday and today with Oprah. It's also the sense of true panic coming from the Clinton campaign, as evidenced by their "kindergarten-gate" fiasco last week, and Bill's misstep about how long he has been against the Iraq war, etc. The Clinton group, I'm sure, has access to much more detailed "internal" numbers in Iowa and New Hampshire, and they are obviously in a state of distress. I love it! I think Obama is the best Democratic candidate. Hillary will energize the Republicans like no one else. Plus, I just don't "get" all of this talk about her vast experience! She was First Lady, but fumbled her one overt government assignment of fixing the health care crisis. She has not distinguished herself in the Senate, except for her stands with George Bush on both Iraq and Iran. If she weren't married to Bill, she wouldn't be in this race. I wish a woman who has made it on her own merits were running - someone like Dianne Feinstein. With Barack Obama, however, you have someone who has served in both the state and national governments, as well as in the Chicago community. He is a brilliant former Constitutional law professor. He had the good sense and courage to oppose the war in Iraq when that was not the popular decision to make. And he is the type of healing personality that this country needs - not someone like Hillary, who is very polarizing. I read here that Abraham Lincoln had about the same experience as Obama has had. What if people in 1860 had discounted him because they didn't think he was ready? We are ready for Barack Obama to become our next president!
I bet if there were no poll statistics the outcome would be different as the poll convince some voters that the outcome is already decided.  The media is the biggest fault. And a vast majority of voters wont vote.

Please consider this:

-If you want "In God we trust" taken off our currency.

-If you want corruption and big money to rule the country.

-If you want your children/grandchildren to grow up in a country without a chance unless they are born into money.

-If you want to believe in lies and flip flops.

-If you want adultry to lead as an example for all the
young people to set the goals to.

-If you want someone who never went to public schools.

-If you want someone who had to work hard for what
they have earned.

-If you want someone who has multi million dollar bank
accounts just because of their family name.

-If you want someone who don't know what it is like to
mow their own lawn.

Then don't vote for Mike Huckabee!!!

As for me and my family we want honesty and christian values to be seen in our goverment. Also to me the wealthy guys in the race have nothing in common with the average poor/middle class person. They have no idea what it is to have to decide wheater to buy groceries or try to skim by with what you have so you can buy gas to get to work, or let some bills go for a month so you can buy gifts for your children. I feel Mike Huckabee knows where/how these things affect the poor/middle class in this country. I hope all can look past all the big money ads to put Mike down so they can keep there power trip over the rest of us. Would it really be that bad to have a president who has some compassion, morals, feelings and open minded policy for the people? So in 08 vote Huckabee for a better america lets put the people first again and not big business.

VOTE MIKE HUCKABEE!!!!!!!!
Some correct me if I'm dillusional....

I've heard that the majority of the crowd who attended the O factor in SC.was Black. That also among the
White voters who attended, many appeared more reserved about openly embracing
Obama because of Oprah or that Oprah would in anyway influence their vote.
However, some attendees said that they were definitely more open to
Obama because of Oprah's endorsement...Great!

I also heard that Obama urged the crowd to believe that a black man could be president, however, even those who have endorsed Obama have said that Black voters will be convinced of his viability in a general election if he can win the (majority-white states )of Iowa and New Hampshire...Earlier I wrote a peace to this effect and it was not posted here.....from my southern experience like most of my counterparts are saying ...this is gonna be a daunting task for Mr. O to overcome....If America is not ready for a female president, common sense tells me that it's next to impossible for southerners that I've known for years to trust Mr. O on face value.

In a nutshell, if worst was to come to it, America would choose a female first over before seriously considering a minority candidate...you can take that to the BANK.

Now having bet you on that, let me address the reason for the crowds around Obama, first of all the young man is very intelligent. Remember though...we had similar candidates before....remember John K? He surely was more intelligent than what America chose over him. Biden has more data than and experience in the Dem pack ....do you agree?
Nader ii more articulate than your average president....they have all been sidelined....

The only thing that has helped Obama other than his wisedom is the timing.  After such a frustrating white house....we're all craving for change....Obama chose the right campaign theme at the time when all Americans are wary of keeping the course.

The second reason why people like to hang around him is the Dinero factor.....his campaign is not finacially lame at all....I've never seen a rich person without company. However ....I've seen people divorce campaigns in heart bit the moment the check book runs out of blank pages.

So ....not sure the crowd around Mr.O is legit....cause at the end of the day....the "other" factors will win his followers votes when they get in the voting booths.

What needs to happen:

H and O need to fordge a ticket, and that's a winning Ticket ...like it or not. Which will bring in O as the VP...if they stay in for 8 years...and they excute...that's a big IF...then O will have the chance to run on his own then..By that time America will have had  Obama, Powell, Rice, Sharpton not to mention JJ and Nelson Mandera...to look back to and start seriously considering taking the risk  of handing the keys to the White house to a minority.

What's your take?
As a Clinton supporter I say VOTE HUCKABEE I am sure the country is waiting for another religious zealot to continue the crusade against the Saracens. Richard the lionhearted tried it in the eleventh century and failed. One good thing could come of it if God got tired of seeing the poor being the cannon fodder and whispered in Huck's ear he might reinstate the draft.
Two words "Chuck" "Norris".Mike H. for president and Chuck Norris for the Secretary of Immigration.
