Huckabee is in a statistical tie for first place in yet another national poll. Out tonight, a CBS/New York Times poll (GOP, Dem), conducted Dec. 5-9, shows Giuliani clinging to a 22%-21% lead over Huckabee with Romney third at 16%. Giuliani lost 7 points from October, the last time the poll was conducted. Huckabee jumped from a non-existent 4%; Romney got a 4-point bump. But the biggest hits were on McCain and Thompson. McCain fell from 18% to just 7%, and Thompson saw two-thirds of his support eroded (21% to a paltry 7%).
On the Democratic side, Clinton retains a double-digit lead, but in October she led by 28 points; now it's 17. Here are the numbers: Clinton 44%, Obama 27%, Edwards 11%.
