Huckabee second in another poll

Posted: Tuesday, December 11, 2007 6:31 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
Huckabee moves into second place and Giuliani, who retains a lead, dropped 9 points in the latest Washington Post/ABC poll. Giuliani holds onto a 25%-19% lead over Huckabee, but a month ago Giuliani had doubled up his nearest opponent, McCain, 34%-17%.

In the latest poll, McCain has dropped five points and from second place to fifth. Romney, third in this poll, saw a boost from 13% to 17%. Thompson, meanwhile, lost 2 points.

On the Democratic side, Clinton gains two points for a whopping 53% to 23% lead over her closest rival, Obama. Edwards is the only other Democrat to register in double digits with 10%.

With numbers like these, Hillary could lose IA, NH and! SC and still win the nom!  Go HRC!
Let hear again national do not mean anything.
this is why polls make no sense  but I know you guys need something to do.

Three polls ALL taken from 12/6-12/9 3 different WIDE results

         Hillary   Obama
CNN          40       30
ABC          53        23
CBS          44        27

ABC looks like an outlier
The media hype about Obama's surge has been grossly exagerated.
Why do we have to wade through the headline and two breathless paragraphs about Huckabee and the Republicans before we get to the news that this poll shows Clinton more than doubling up on Obama, Clinton gaining since last month, and Obama falling since last month?  Could it be because this news doesn't fit your preferred narrative?  And if the poll instead showed Saint Barack gaining on the evil Hillary, does anyone doubt that the Huckabee angle would have been buried beneath breathless coverage of Obama's purported surge?
A CNN poll just came out showing Edwards is the strongest candiate against the Republicans.
Why did this get bumped to the top? It looks like the same post from earlier today.
For any of you who think the Huckster isn't belittling his faith by using it as a political tool (explain to me how that is rendering unto Caesar), read this:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks in an upcoming article, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

The article, to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, says Huckabee asked the question after saying he believes Mormonism is a religion but doesn't know much about it. His rival Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, is a member of the Mormon church, which is known officially as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The authoritative Encyclopedia of Mormonism, published in 1992, does not refer to Jesus and Satan as brothers. It speaks of Jesus as the son of God and of Satan as a fallen angel, which is a Biblical account.

A spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Huckabee's question is usually raised by those who wish to smear the Mormon faith rather than clarify doctrine.

"We believe, as other Christians believe and as Paul wrote, that God is the father of all," said the spokeswoman, Kim Farah. "That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit children. Christ, on the other hand, was the only begotten in the flesh and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind. Satan is the exact opposite of who Christ is and what he stands for."

I'm so tired of this guy. He knows exactly what he's saying with this "I won't judge him for his religion, but don't they all hunt down little children and feed them to aliens from some far away planet?" crap. He is insulting his own faith. Some Christian!
You guys do realize that in two days you have presented polls which contains three different results on the democratic side. These polls were conducted on the same period from December 6 to December 9. In the CNN, clinton is up by 10%, in the CBS/NYT she is up by 17%, in the ABC/WA Post she is up by 30%.
These pollsters or the American public should really make up their mind.
Anyway, I'm tired of this endless primary season
A new Iowa poll has Huckabee at 39%, with everyone but him and Romney in single-digits: http://www.campaigndiaries.com/2007/12/republicans-no-one-expects-romney-to.html
HRC is the democratic nominee. She is the most experienced, focused, graceful and compassionate among all candidates. She is also strong on issues. She is the next President. She will be an excellent Commander in Chief.
Come see why Hillary Clinton is "the" choice..hillaryclinton.com
Wow - Hillary had a great showing in this poll! Maybe now she can go back to being calm, cool, and collected instead of frantic and a little be scary. ;)
Mike Huckabee is not a proven leader. He is a proven liar.

He says he is a tax cuter, but raised taxes more than Clinton.

He says he is for the Cuban embargo, but in the past he not only said said he was against it, but wrote letters to congressmen to repeal it.

He says he wants to be tough on immigration, but offered illegals scholarships in Arkansas.

He says he understands foreing policy; but, had no idea what the Iran Nuke report said.

One thing he does well is, "feel our pain." What is in the water in Arkansas that makes such sleazy politicians?

America cannot afford another president from Hope, Arkansas. Bill Clinton was enough for me

Don't believe me? Look it all up!!! His record does not match what he says.
Interesting information re: the Dem polls. As soon as there's a national primary day, it'll even become somewhat useful in understanding what's happening.

Until then, those of us with a sense of reality will continue to look at the numbers from Iowa, SC, and NH, none of which have polls where Clinton has anything close to a 25 point lead. In fact, a lot of 'em are showing her, em, in second place to Obama or at best, tied for the lead.
Keep up the good work Hillary. Those claiming you are toast will be eating it.
One of the main reasons that Mike Huckabee is gaining momentum is that more and more Americans are hearing about and understanding The FairTax.  Huckabee is firmly behind the FairTax and despite the limited national media attention it has had Americans understand what it will do for the country and want to see it passed.
Can't wait for the primaries! No voting fraud this year please. The machines are proven faulty to the core.MSNBC should check their own poll "matrix",it tells a more accurate story than this one.But there will be plenty of time for developements since many states changed primary dates foward in order to cheat voters out of the normal amount of time. And with very little notice I might add.Truth in goverment AND elections, and some in the media would be refreshing.I like the idea of yanking pensions for poorly preforming politions. We shouldn't have to defend ourselves from the barrage of BS over and over when bad legislation is defeated only to be rushed through again and again until we are caught offguard.perhaps "No Incumbants '08" would be a better slogan.
huck is gonna get the nom
Heh! Where are all the people saying Hillary is losing at a momentous speed? Oh, that's right... they only like the data that supports what they desperately want, someone other than Hillary winning.
The huckster is starting to bash illegals, great red meat for the easily conned..so huck, do you really think those illegals will all show up and register, pack their bags and head for the home country in 120 days?
So huckleberry, will you ship natural born children of illegals home with them or just force them into good christian orphanages? So Huckleberry, where will you get the manpower to round up 20 million or so illegals and ship them home?
It is no mystery that the Clinton(s) are the ones that lie, cheat, kill, & steal. There is obvious corruption, deception, delusion, and manipulation in that family, beyond belief. If you are a supporter can you tell us all what you know of that they have done legitimately that has been successful and beneficial for the USA? Her "Plan B" stands for more BS. Time to wake up America. Time for leading team: Guiliani/Romney!
Kack- "lie, cheat, kill, and steal" - a bit dramatic, don't you think.

You think Guiliani and Romney haven't lied and cheated? You are kidding yourself if you belive that one.

It will be Huck for the GOP and Hillary for the Dems.
Kack and Toni
Thanks for the laugh!!!
I won't be eating Hilary's toast, I will be moving to Canada if she wins.  I am undecided, because no candidate has the exact same views as me.  The only candidate that will NOT be getting my vote is HRC!!!
The GOP is finding it's "soulmate" in Mike Huckabee. I'm one republican who is very glad to have found a candidate who I can whole heartedly support. The more I see, the more I like!
would some please get anothe pitcher of kool-aid for rose, sean, travis and j before they sober up and see the clintons for what they really are.I bet you 4 also believe she had nothing to do with slinging mud, at obama.
