    We are in a closed system; granted a very large closed system but it still closed for the most part.  How about we put you in a room that has plants and some animals as well as things that put out various emissions that make the room warmer.  How quickly would change your mind -- within minutes I suspect.  

Global warming is changing our previously mostly predictable weather patterns.  Please note that only some industries are opposing changes.  There are those that see money to be made in this and other whine and complain.  It is time to make lemonade.  I can't believe that some are still wondering what the yellow fruit they have been handed is.

Maybe you haven't seen or been force fed the overwhelming amount of information Jerry from TX. Scientists are being paid by the likes of Tancredo and of big oil people at $10,000 per article that discredits Global Warming.

Look at your neighbors in Houston and ask them if they haven't felt the impact of Global Warming. Katrina and Rita should still be names people there can remember.

I can understand where Jerry is coming from; however, I do believe that Global Warming is a problem that this country, as well as the rest of the world, needs to address.  It is more difficult to understand something when the evidence isn't in your face and affecting you directly, and I think that this is where Jerry is coming from.  Jerry, for your sake, you need to take a trip up to Alaska this summer, and see the direct effects of mine and your actions in person.  For every tenth of a degree change we experience in the lower 48, Alaska's temperature changes 2 degrees.  It truly will be a sobering trip for you my friend!

I really think most people fail to recognize the difference between global warming and anthropogenic global warming. global warming is real enough but anthropogenic global warming is a THEORY. You are accepting something as truth just because it is being accepted as truth, not because it has been proven. I think they have a word for that. I think it is gullible. Any of you people feeling like it is your job to slam Jerry able to provide any actual proof of what the causes are?? Global warming is happening on Venus, Mars, several other planets and moons but I suppose you are convinced the sun is not a factor. I personally would like to see a president insist some of this stuff gets proven before we go and spend trillions of dollars and affect the entire world's economy.

I have to say, "global warming" is real.  It's the only way we could survive on this planet.  HOWEVER, we humans are not making it any worse!  All of our livestock produces more hazardous wastes than all Americans.  A single volcano eruption also spills more CO2 and other bad gases into the world than all the humans on the planet.  There's plenty of research for both arguments, but each of us has to decide what we believe.  And, the globe is only a closed system to an extent.  If it were completely closed, the sun wouldn't shine and wouldn't help warm the earth up.

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as in, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children.

I don't know how any scientist could reduce that global warming question to a yes/no response.  Do you believe that global warming exists?  I can deduce temperature measurements over time, and yes I believe those measurements to be accurate.  Do you believe global warming is caused by human activity?  Sure, I can run contained experiments to prove a causation.  Does human activity account for <1%, 10%, 50%, 90%, >99%?  No published report has yet made such a case or even a broad range.  There are many forces in nature such as the shifting of gasses inside the earth's core to cause magnetic pole reversal which reduces the magnetic flux shielding gamma rays from the sun.  Then you have volcanos and earthquakes which yield energies orders of magnitude greater than all the gasoline emissions on the planet.  This whole issue of global warming is not something you "believe in", it's something you measure.  Until you can objectively measure something, you can't objectively legislate it, no matter what we may all believe or fear.

Jerry - Any reasonable person can look at all the CO2 we are put into the air and come to the conclusion that it has to have an effect on the environment. If all the ice in Greenland melts (and it is doing so at a increasingly faster pace) the sea level will rise 20 feet and much of Corpus Cristi will be under water. So put your flippers on.

Why is the media retarded voicing radical opinions while ignoring sound voices.  Mike Gravel is a great public speaker who resonates inteligence. The earth seems to have warmed about 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit over the past century. However, that is only half the amount projected by the climate models underpinning the Kyoto Protocol.
