Perry for Rudy... or is it Huckabee?

From NBC's Lauren Appelbaum
Gov. Rick Perry has been campaigning for Giuliani after endorsing him on October 17, but today he had a slip of tongue implying support for Huckabee, saying the former governor is the best candidate for ending abortion. "The issue becomes very, very clear to me from the standpoint of who I want to support and it is Mike Huckabee." Perry said yesterday while filing papers for Giuliani to participate in the Texas primary. "And it goes to the next level, who do we have that is the most electable of our the candidates, and I think without a doubt it is Rudy Giuliani."

Perry became defensive when reporters then asked him if he thought Huckabee is indeed the best candidate on the abortion issue. While Giuliani has come under fire for his stance on abortion, Perry reiterated he believes Giuliani is the most electable candidate. "I'm sorry," he later replied. "I made an error. Thank you for bringing it to my attention."

I think the whole electable thing is completely backwards for Republicans.  R. Giuliani is terribly going to lose in a General, period.  Raise you hands if you were suprised/caught off guard at M. Huckabee's recent rise?  Okay, put them down now, because you can't type up there.  Don't underestimate him as an authentic candidate, I know I wouldn't.  I promise you that if Huck gets the nod, he will be a challenge.  His main problem will be is lack of funds.  Careful what you wish for partisan Democrats.
I've been intrigued by Huckabee since the very first debates, but for whatever reason the increasing attention on his candidacy of late has started to wear me down. This debate may very well have been the final straw. I don't think I can handle his folksy persona for another 11 months. Parting the red tape was strike one. Weapons of mass instruction was strike two. Communicator-in-chief was strike three. The shtick is not going to win my vote. Overall, I think Romney bettered his position. At least based on the post-debate reaction I've seen so far. Thompson improved his chances of winning my personal vote. Time will tell if others agree. If he inject same the passion we saw today into his everyday campaign, I suspect more people will at least give him a second look. Big Loser: Keyes Bigger Loser: Moderator Biggest Loser: those of us who spent 90 minutes watching.
Great, Huckabee is just what this country needs. Another person whose guidance comes from above rather than from his brain
What's the story on Huck's alledged pardon for this rapist, that only got out of jail to rape and murder again? If this is true, then hopefully not a single woman will vote for this man. Don't forget, he's pro-life, and that means you can't terminate a pregnancy caused by rape, and the rapist goes free, while you'll suffer for the rest of your life! Vote Giuliani or Romney!
I'm curious as to why FR is completely ignoring the latest salvo from the Clinton campaign to try to bring down Obama -- this time a co-chair from NH (and husband of top advisor Jeanne Shaheen) muses to the press, oh-so-not-subtly, that part of Obama's electability problem might be that teenage drug use he admitted to (instead of handling it like Bush!) or even (wink, wink) drug dealing. Surely Team Clinton lowering themselves deeper into the mud is FR-worthy.
Come on Rick Perry, Giuliani the most electable?  Sorry. SoCon's stay home if he is the nominee and the GOP loses.  That makes this FisCon very scared.  We need the best of both worlds and Huckabee provides that.  He's also just a darn nice and nonpolarizing guy.  This country needs that right now.
Go Mike!
how can I watch the debate, it was durning work so will it be aired again sometime, will there be a video online?
We can conclude from this:
1: that Governor Good Hair doesn't understand that the president doesn't make law;
2. when Texans accidently elect a good governor (Ann Richards) they make up for it in spades ("What me worry?" and Good Hair).
Almost as good as getting his guidance from below (a la Big Bill) rather than from his brain
Day by day, increasingly, Mike Huckabee is what Leadership looks like ( http://snipr.com/leaderlook ). He's an adroit public speaker; he's all about calling his listeners to "do something," to awaken them to their own empowerment, and summon them to action in order that "Main Street," and not "Wall Street," will prevail in guarding the values and beliefs upon which the Republic was founded.

Huckabee puts his listeners at ease, and reassures them, articulating clear concepts in a natural, easy style (no doubt something well-cultivated as a pastor). He’s not as “mechanically-scripted” as Romney, nor angry or demanding, like a Ron Paul, and his large brown eyes, peering through a humble demeanor, draw a striking contrast to a unconvincing, tired-looking Thompson. One can easily imagine sitting comfortably with Mike over a cup of coffee at the Main Street Cafe.

Most importantly, Huckabee is ONE with the FairTax grassroots movement ( http://snipr.com/fthuckabeeonirs ). Romney's recent WEAK response to FairTax questioning on “This Week with Geo. Stephanopoulos ( http://snipurl.com/stephanopoulosdebate )” drew a sharp contrast between Huckabee and all other presidential front-runners who will not embrace it. Huckabee understands that what''s wrong with the income tax can''t be fixed with "a tap of the hammer, nor a twist of the screwdriver." That his opponents cling to the destructive Tax Code, the IRS, preserving political power of granting tax favors at continued cost to - and misery of - American families, invigorates his campaign''s raison d''etre. “Main Street” will have to demand ( http://snipr.com/scrapthecode ) that their legislators deliver the bill to Huckabee, if elected.
Huckleberry hound actually sounds good until you start listening or worse yet finding out what he has said and done in the past...It seems to me if he is going to round up AIDS patients, gays, illegals and any woman who has an abortion the reprehensibles will run out of people to vilify...
Anyone who thinks that *any* politician (today) cares about issues of morality is woefully ignorant.  What it takes to become a "leader in politics" is a winner takes-all-mentality.  They will do and say whatever it takes.  Once they have the position, then it's all about keeping it at all costs.  Real leaders are *not* in politics.
President Huckabee?  I don't think so.  Americans  want this country cleaned up.  Only Rudy Guiliani has the guts and desire to accomplish this.  We do not need another nilly willy president on our hands, such as reinstating the Clintonians, etc. Huckabee has no guts; his smile is sickening.
Bellstown

The governor cant pardon in arkansas, Huckabee felt sorry for the guy because he was held down and castrated with fishing line in prison.  Speaking of rapes the judges in the north give child molesters 4 or 5 months, and wont pass Jessica s law, and vote for clinton if you like a groper spouse.
I believed we need to listen every candidate and not judge them because of their appareance but their believe.  Huckabee has a straigh forward shot and his faith will have a good impact in this great nation, thats what we need

The repubs are having a problem with all their candidates, perhaps they can meld them together to create the 'super candidate' FEDDIEMIKEMITTRUDY is the man. Perhaps looking for perfection is not the way to go, conservatism is not so easy to define now, can't find a candidate to please all the different factions of the party. Poor poor repubs, didn't get a candidate with the mantle of the White House attached.
Endorsements going all over the place and each one of them parsing their words for each of the different factions, confusing to say the least! The machine is making more than one product, what to buy, what to buy?
huckabee will win. the others are flip flopping flakes as follows:

ROMNEY - KING FLIP FLOP
DEAD FRED IS ONLY GOOD FOR TV
GUILIANI IS A PIMP
McCAIN IS TOOOO... NEGATIVE AND SERIOUS
AND THE OTHERS ARE OLD NEWS. IF THE REPUBS WANT TO WIN, THEY HAD BETTER NOMINATE HUCKABEE, IF PIMPED OUT GUILIANI IS THE NOMINEE, I WILL NOT VOTE....
If Huckabee was really a viable candidate would he have a "lack of funds" problem?

Ask Ron Paul, a real conservative, about funding a campaign looks like he knows a thing or two.
Gov. Perry, eager to be VP, says Bush NOT fiscal conservative
