Pro-Clinton group disguising its attack?

Posted: Wednesday, December 19, 2007 6:45 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann
Some of the first negative mail in Iowa on the Democratic side is out, and it's anti-Obama. A new direct mail piece from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) accuses that: "For those without insurance, Barack Obama's band-aid solution is no change at all."

On the reverse side, the text of the mailer continues, arguing that Obama "claims his health care plan covers everyone, but his proposal does not match his words... Instead, Obama took the timid way out, offering yet another band-aid solution."

"Barack Obama's plan," it concludes, is just more of the same."

Here's the kicker, though: The piece quotes Edwards from a Sioux City Journal article in November saying that that "as many as 15 million Americans would be without coverage" under Obama's plan.

But, as it turns out, AFSCME is backing Clinton. In fact, even though Clinton and her campaign have been arguing for the past month that Obama's health-care plan doesn't insure everyone, Clinton's name isn't mentioned once on the flier. The Edwards quote makes it appear to be a slam by the Edwards team.

This tactic, it seems, could be intended to deflect the distaste that most voters have for direct attacks -- even those that are policy based. But those in the know might think that this new negative mail is Iowa Nice playing a little dirty.

AFSCME is an independent union.  They have a right to spread their opinion, don't they?

Clinton, Obama, and Edwards all wanted to be endorsed by AFSCME.  They chose to endorse Clinton; this endorsement is well known and publicized.

Do people really believe that groups who have decided to support Hillary have no right to critique her opponent?  Or to quote other Democrats like Edwards?  That's ridiculous.  I agree with Clinton, and I also agree with Edwards, and I can send an e-mail saying so if I like, and so can AFSCME.

AFSCME made the right decision, and their points are valid: Obama is not the man for the job.  Anyone who is crying foul is just being silly; if AFSCME had supported Obama and was sending out a message criticizing his opponent you wouldn't make a peep.
"The FACT is - Obama keeps LYING that his health care plan covers everyone - but it DOES NOT.
It omits at least 15,000,000 of us."

Obama plan is the only one that's probably legal and can pass thru Congress. The mandates well be legally and legislatively challenged for years. Obama clearly states that this is the first step towards a Universal Single Payer system. How many people will Hillary's Health Plan cover when it never gets pass GO - again.
The AFSCME flyer quite clearly states: “Paid for by American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees PEOPLE Committee [1625 L Street, NW, Washington, Dc 20036] and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.”  In what way is this deceptive?

The flying of false flags is a favorite tactic of the Neocons and other deceitful types. But the practice wasn't invented yesterday. So this doesn't make them political geniuses.
I am absolutely disgusted with Clinton if she thinks this is "two birds with one stone". I support John Edwards because of his stand on health care and the reforms this country needs. He is the only candidate with a heart!
Let's join the real world.  The Republicans have been beating the crap out of our really good candidates with really dirty, untrue, campaign ads, assisted, at least in 2000, by the mainstram media.  What is an underhanded, but true, ad, compared to Willie Horton, or the Swift Boat ads?  If this is all it takes for Hillary to beat Obama, I don't want him to try to run against a Republican.
If America Truly Wants Change , Vote For Joe Biden!!
Here is Why You should at the Very Least Consider Joe Biden as President.
Hillary Clinton is arrogant , She has said She never even thuoght about the Possibility of Losing. She thinks She is expressing some kind of Great Confidence, She is Really Showing Us that like our Current Dick-Tater She too will be the Decider & the Divider! She even comes Complete with all the Special Interests in tow as well.If She Runs in the General Election the Republicans will find Something on Bill to Use Against Her.And the so called Christians & Republicons will come out in Very Large Numbers Just To Vote Her Out! Do You Really Want Guiliani , Romney McCain,or Huckleberry Hound as Your Next Dick-Tater???
Barack Obama seems like a Nice Guy but do You really think He has enough experience to get the Job Done?
( I Don't) & the Jealousy that will follow for All of those who feel He hasn't Paid His Dues will also Prevent Him from getting anything passed in Congress or the Senate.
John Edwards will be Divided between trying to be President & Contending with His Wife's Very Serious Illness & All that it Entails.
Frankly We need a President who will be able to Focus Entirely on Cleaning Up the Mess this Bush Dick-Tater-Ship has unleashed & Again Edwards is not exactly Qualified for What America needs Right Now!

Joe Biden is Experienced & Truly the Only Qualified Candidate in Foreign Affairs , He has Paid His Dues & Is Respected By Both Sides of the Aisle & by Foreign Leaders!Even the Current Democratic Candidates have All Said " Joe is Right" or "I Agree with Joe"
Joe Biden is Honest & Does Not have All the Special Interests leading Him with Their Wallets. He has not wasted time pointing fingers , He just wants to discuss the Important Issues We are Currently Facing & How He Plans to Solve them.
I also believe that if He were to Go Up against Any of the Republicans Currently Running He would Win Hands Down!

WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
VOTE JOE BIDEN IN 2008 & TAKE BACK AMERICA!
I received the flyer and sent AFSCME this email in response.  I'm also sending it to the DM Register.

I received a flyer in the mail yesterday from AFSCME attacking Obama's health care plan.  I agreed with the points the attack made.  I was and am disgusted by the implication on the flyer that the attack was coming from John Edwards.

AFSCME endorsed Clinton.  AFSCME should have the guts and common courtesy to fight the campaign using YOUR chosen candidate, and not hide behind another.  This deception simply confirms the negative perceptions many people have about the modern American labor movement.

Be honest about who you are and what you stand for.  Don't hide behind tactics like this.
Carrie Dann, you are a disgusting wannabe journalist.  Why don't you just come out and say you hate Hillary Clinton and will lie like a dog to try and smear her.  You have made no friends Carrie, and when Hillary is in the White House I hope she put you in the Outhouse.
Why is everyone so surprised over these LATEST revelations?  Believe me, there's MORE TO COME. The SAD thing is---- AMERICA every time you see a HRC supporter, just remember there's NO REASONING because obviously their hearts are like HRC---deceptive!
WAKE UP CALL!

Obama's plan is, to quote CBS, universal *access*. Meaning anyone who wants to enroll has the ability. The "15 million" analysis (read: guess) is within the bounds of possibility, but still generally unfounded.

Hillary's plan, meanwhile, is Massachusetts-style "universal coverage", meaning coverage is enforced, and any who fail to buy health insurance from independent and still outrageously-priced vendors are penalized. That's right, people too poor to avoid their own health care will be fined. This isn't just universal health care, it's mandatory enrollment, and that is a hell of a crime by any standard.

Do your research, people, and stop eating the sound bytes. The Clinton plan is a cow pie with icing on it.  It's having the ability to choose a federally-provided health care plan that matters, not whether someone comes around with a stick and forces you into it. The 46 million uninsured Americans are in this mess because they don't have the money to get coverage. Hillary seems to think it's because they're too stupid to know better. Let's prove her wrong.
This just confirms that a "Stop HRC" movement nation wide needs to be set up, and implimented right now.  And her campaign wonders why there is a "Anyone but HRC" campaign starting.  Look at her supporters.
America needs JOHN EDWARDS
