Tancredo drops 2 weeks before the primaries and then endorses Romney. How convenient? I knew Romney was desperate but man. Oh well, who said millions can't buy an election?

I remember driving along the Arizona/New Mexico border, September of 2005. I sent an email to CNBC saying there was a lot of seething anger. Look out. The thing that Chris Simcox started was fairly different from the giant funding raising machine that evolved. Simcox endorsed Huckabee about two weeks ago. The Minuteman thing said "Real Minutemen Don't Endorse Huckabee". And now the 'real' guys are without Senor Tancredo.

This shows what Huckabee could do for the GOP. He could actually reach out to Hispanics. And without the Evangelicals as allies, movements like the Minutemen might actually fall apart, because a lot of it is email fundraising and close ties to the other GOP interest groups.

Tancredo goes to Romney. But where is Romney's real base? The GOP wants immigration to go away. It's a killer for the GOP. Romney goes after Huck, and how does he close the sale with Evangelicals in the General? I give up...

I can't believe that he was in it this long.  He should have known his days were numbered when he said in a debate that he was out "Tancredoed" by other candidates.  How lame is that you turn your own name into a verb.  Let the pundits and the rest of society do that.  

I am sorry that Tom Tancredo is ending his bid for the Presidency. That said, I am extremely happy he has endorsed Mitt Romney who I believe is the one who can clean up the out of control spending, in D.C. and get our country fiscally back on track. Mitt is the one to handle Iraq and shut down our borders against illegal's streaming into our country daily. He is the man to beat the Dems this election.

Does anyone really know who this guy is? Tom Tancredo, who?  Running on a "much of the same" campaign with current polls putting Bush between 22 and 34% is not going to get you the majority, duh! I was at one time under the impression elected officials and those wanting to be had atleast a 2nd grade education.  Course, given our current administration and some of the crappy at best candidates on both sides, it is apparent that they do not or at the very least feel Americans are idiots.  Look to the elections of 2000 and 2004 if you're not sure which.  Probably the later.

Is this like the earlier endorsement of W.M. Romney in Iowa that actually went to F. Thompson?  If anything other than that occurred, I was wrong in my prediction, but it was fun to make.  This is probably a pretty big endorsement for Romney, certainly puff up his anti-illegal immigration credentials.  I suppose Tancredo also thinks Romney can win (F. Congressman Tancredo said he was concerned about other candidates who don't share his position on illegal immigration.  He has strong reservations about Huckabee's position and sincerity on the issue.  He is supporting the strongest candidate in the Iowa caucuses that best (though still not 100%)represents his position on the issue.  I was impressed with Huckabee in the early going but it is becoming more apparent that he is intolerant of others outside the evangelical community.  If he gets the nomination and wins, he won't seriously take on the conservative position on immigration.  He probably won't because he'll fracture the GOP: remember '76 with Ford/Reagan (winner Carter) and '92 with conservative Independent Perot/Bush Sr. (winner Clinton with less than 50%.  I've voted Repub in 6 of the last 7 presidential races, but will go Demo if Huckabee is on the ticket.  I'll be a proud flip-flopper, because I swore I would never vote for Hillary.  But now it is more important to me for the GOP to reclaim the party from the religious zealots.

I've posted this at more than just this blog, but I definitely do not work for Romney's campaign.  I want some conservatives, who I feel haven't given Mitt a fair shake thus far, to seriously reconsider their positions.  Romney is clearly now the anti-illegal immigration candidate.  What candidate can win the support of ALL conservatives...fiscal, defense, AND social?  Mitt's the man!

I wonder how much mitt paid him for the endorsement??

Kinda weird that people think you're a racist if you believe anyone and everyone, fugitives, drug dealers, or whatever, should be able to just walk into your country with no vetting process whatsoever.  :D  This kind of position doesn't even merit serious debate.

I was disappointed that Tancredo didn't actually endorse Ron Paul, if not along WITH Romney, who is the only other candidate who talks about fixing the anchor baby problem and ( actually saving American tax dollars for Americans ).  It would seem that Tancredo cares less about illegal immigration than we thought.  Hopefully voters for whom illegal immigration is a flasghip issue will be able to think and evaluate for themselves the remaining candidates.  Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul have the best positions in this regard.

I think the fact that he is dropping out now and the so-called "open borders" candidate (Huckabee)is surging indicates that illegal immigration is NOT a significant concern among most GOP voters.  Historically being anti-immigration is largely a loser. Remember the American or "Know Knothing" party? Or what happened to California's Republican party as a result of Pete Wilson's short-sighted immigrant bashing?  Imo, living and working where one wants to is a human right that falls under the rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The principles of the Declaration of Independence are meant for everyone, not just Americans. Interestingly, Bush understands this even though most "conservative" Republicans do not.
