Huck talks religion, tolerance, morality

From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy
ON THE ROAD, IA -- In a gaggle with reporters aboard his campaign bus, Huckabee elaborated on his response to a man from Marshalltown, IA, who had expressed concern that only Christians would be attended to by a Huckabee White House. "It's not like I'm stepping out of the pulpit last Sunday and running for president today," Huckabee said. "I don't think anybody's going to find that, you know, I'm some intolerant bigot when it comes to religion. If anything, it's the opposite -- because in my view of faith, it's only faith if it's voluntary ... and to try to force faith on somebody would, to me, violate the heart and soul of it as to what it should be."

Yet when he was pressed on whether he would continue certain practices he began in the Arkansas state house, such as a Christian Heritage Week or hanging the Ten Commandments in his office, Huckabee said, "[I] don't know why I wouldn't."

He pointed out that the Christian Heritage Week was celebrated in 37 states, but he was the only person who received attention for it, "which to me showed that there was some level of almost a different sort of treatment that I would get on the religious questions than anyone else."

As for the Ten Commandments in the Oval Office, "the Ten Commandments are in the Supreme Court," Huckabee said, adding that he "wouldn't hesitate" to hang them in the White House. "The Ten Commandments form the basis of most of our laws and therefore, you know if you look through them does anybody find anything there that would be all that objectionable? I don't think most people would if they actually read them," he said.

This conversation helped lead reporters into the difference between a moral argument and a political argument when it comes to Huckabee's social views. According to Huckabee, moral issues are not up for political definition, meaning that the practice of individual states legalizing certain immoral acts -- such as abortion -- is "the logic of the Civil War" and thus mustn't be allowed.

"The country had to finally come to the conclusion, no slavery is ... a moral issue; it's not a political one," Huckabee said. "That's why I define the whole issue of sanctity of life [and marriage] not in political terms but in moral terms. If it's a political issue than it's perfectly legitimate to have fifty different versions."

He elaborated on his logic using the tax code as an example, saying "there's not an absolute rightness or wrongness about the tax rate," thus it is a political issue, unlike abortion.

Moral issues can be federally legislated, Huckabee said, because "all law imposes morality on people. That's one of the fallacies when people say you can't impose your morality… All law defines right and wrong. Morality means the definition of right and wrong. What law does, it is codifying what you've determined right and wrong to be."

But Huckabee also hedged his bets. Contrasting his stance that law is the enforcement of a lawmakers morality, Huckabee also helped to justify the pro-choice argument saying that as a society "we can change what we think is right and what we think is wrong." Although he argued that abortion was a moral issue, and thus under his framework deserves to be decided at the national level, he added that "if a person concludes that it is a political question than you can justify having different laws in every state."

On a lighter note, the Huckabee family may have a tough time getting all together for Christmas this year.

"One question is whether Sarah is coming home for Christmas from Iowa," Huckabee said of his daughter and national field director. "We say she is ... she's saying that she's not, so we haven't settled that quite yet. I don't think she's told her mother that she's thinking about staying up here. I don't want to be the one to announce that."

Ooops. Janet Huckabee -- who was feeling a bit under the weather and didn't make this week's trip on the Huck-A-Bus -- got new floors in the kitchen for Christmas, her husband told reporters on the press bus somewhere between Dike and Waterloo yesterday. But she is expected to be feeling better in time to participate in the family's Christmas tradition.

"The only thing that I know that for sure we're going to do that we have always done is we'll go to our church Christmas Eve service," Huckabee said. "It's a huge community-wide celebration, and we do that every year. And then we have an unusual tradition that after the Christmas Eve service we go out and eat Chinese food. Don't ask me why."

Asked if the tradition is intended to help him better relate to the Jewish community -- who often celebrate Christmas with egg rolls and General Tso -- Huckabee said, "No, it's Chinese food."

He was unaware of the Jewish Christmas tradition.

duh, you advertise yourself as the "Christian Leader" and float a cross behind your head.
The Ten Commandments may be present in the Supreme Court but I heard that symbols of other faiths are there too.  There is probably even a blank spot on the wall somewhere that atheists can look up to!  In any case, in the Supreme courtroom, it is likely more of a tribute to the Ten Commandments as an early legal code than anything else.  That would be quite different than if the tablets were displayed prominently alone in the Oval Office, like bathed in white light and appearing to float behind the presidential shoulder on the televison screen during an address, I think.
Boy this guy is making a lot of sense.
HUCKABEE wouldn't know "tolerance" if it bit him in the face.  He's so arrogant (see Pharisees) that he believes HIS church has a corner on Jesus Christ.  Hey Huck, how much love in his heart did your son have when he tortured those animals to death?  How can YOU sleep at night for forcing the Arkansas officials to keep him from criminal prosecution?
Huckabee was simply hoping he could hide from his poor Arkansas record over the holidays by smokescreening everyone with his Christmas ad.  I'm sorry, but I don't trust the guy.
If Huckabee had ADMITTED they used the cross I may have felt better about him - but by clearly LYING to the nation about it, I could tell he did it to "use" the Lord - verry distaseful!
Why Thank YOU!

I just love to discuss religion!

OK look...

How about before we start this discussion we get the foundations of understanding CORRECT.

If the building is not built on a solid, correctly built foundation, the building ends up falling apart.

Lets start:))!!

1.) MORMANS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS!They are mormans.

2.) Just because mom might be a christian, and you sit in a church building, DOES NOT make you a christian.

Just because you decide one day.."I'll call myself a christian" doesn't mean that you have accepted your salvation, the Lord Jesus provided for you, through His death and resurection, with all your heart, just between you and God himself.

And ANYONE can choose,of his/her own free will, to do that.
OTHER people CANNOT do that for you,of course. Its a personal free-will choice between a person and God.

3.)Religious tolerence does NOT mean you should or have to accept others belief systems, whether they choose to incorporate God in their "religion" or not.UTOPIANS knock it off!

By the time you people get through trying to "meld together" in your false humility, and religious intolerance, you'll give way to an oligarchy based system backed by a police state.I bet some do like a "relativist based perspective".Secular psyco-cologies and philosophies.YACK.    Lord Bless
Different Laws in every State? That answers why Mike Vick went to prison for killing a dog in one State, while Huckabee's son didn't go to prison for killing a dog in a different State. States Rights make for Unequal Justice under the Law. Isn't that what the Confederacy wanted?
It was David Axerold/Obama who began the GUTTER POLITICS-- i.e David Geffen comments:

David Geffen a Obama's fundraiser (comments below) appeared in Maueen Dowd Feb 21st column; Does these comments sound familar? This came from the Obama camp

"I don’t think anybody believes that in the last six years, all of a sudden Bill Clinton has become a different person," Mr. Geffen says, adding that if Republicans are digging up dirt, they’ll wait until Hillary’s the nominee to use it. "I think they believe she’s the easiest to defeat." David Geffen also brought up the Monica Lewisky, the Lincon Bedroom and questioned the Clintons' character. Low road politcs, I think so.

The infamous YouTube video "Vote Differently" the first negative attack about Hillary Clinton came from the Obama camp. The ad copies a Apple Computer ad that appear at superbowl in 1984 -- Well, where do you think it came from? They did this so they can open up the door about the Clinton private life.

"It later emerged that the AD'S CREATOR WORKDED for a company that contracted FOR THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN, though the campaign said itself wasn’t involved," and then the Obama followed up with the David Geffen comments. Only a idiot would believe that this didn't come from the Obama's camp. Coencidence, I think not. Dirty politics I think so. Obama camp didn't want to admit that it came from him, you know that this just would have tarnish his so-called clean image.

"Also, Mr. Obama’s aides circulated the two memorandum to news organizations on the condition that news organizations not say where they obtained the information". The Obama camp was digging up dirt about the Clinton's finance, again they wanted to be anonymous about it.

Excerpts from the column, "This turned into a bit of a dust-up because by all appearances, the Obama campaign got a little sloppy in circulating what turned out to be TWO critical MEMOS. Dirty politics, I think so.

From the beginning, Axerold/Obama had planned to use Cinton's private life, which happen in the past. After the David Geffen comment the Obama Camp have been methodical talking about the Clintons's character; a Bush Strategy against Al Gore. Everytime Bush uses the word character everybody knows he is talking about Monica Lewisky.

It's like my campaign kept saying everyday "Treat HOMELESS PEOPLE with love and kindness," and Ed was my opponent, everyone knows I am attacking Ed Schultz for treating HOMELESS PEOPLE SO HORRIBLE.

This is just a few of the Dirty/qutter politics Aerold/ Obama have played.

WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND!!!
The press is making sound like they don't want any religion in anything we do in life.

Moral issues can be federally legislated, Huckabee said, because "all law imposes morality on people.

If he and Hillary end up as the finalists, that is one area the Clinton's really don't want to go into....

And then we have an unusual tradition that after the Christmas Eve service we go out and eat Chinese food. Don't ask me why."

What is this with people from Arkansas and Chinese????

I hope the press doesn't follow them to the eatery and start questioning Chinese dishwashers who they would vote for.....

Anyway people.......

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....
even to you liberal devils.......
Don't drink and drive.........
and smile even when Aunt Joanie give you a pumpkin pie tie (got one of those one year)......

But if you're gay, Huckabee wants to strip you of all your rights, round you up, and take you to the camps with "showers" with no water.  Huckabee is a homophobic racist bigot who'll destroy this country if elected president.
Huck has already stated that the war in Iraq is a holy war and he is the only one who can win it because he has a degree in theology. That tells meal I need to know about Ayatolla Huckabee. Richard the lionhearted among others fought it tat way and failed. A religious zealot we do not need.
Johnathan - he is only making sense by comparison with all the other nitwits on the Republican side.  I'd like to see him acknowledge that the nation needs laws that represent the collective morality - which is arrived at by different people in different ways.  Just because he is a Christian and I am an atheist does not mean his morals are any better than (or even different from) mine.

He should acknowledge that since this is a nation of laws, and laws codify morality arrived at collectively by citizens of all faiths (and those without a religion), that this is not a "Christian nation".  Anyone who wants to elect a "Christian leader" rather than a "national leader" is in the wrong voting booth.
Mike Huckabee marching in lock-step with Bush..has begun to emulate Bush in another area...lack of truthfulness.  The Huckabee Christmas ad...clearly highlighting the softy lit cross behind him..is what it is.  The fact that Gov Huckabee is lying to the the Nation about the "bookcase" is utter nonsense.  We have endured one "evangelical" liar as President...we don't need and will not tolerate another.
Wow, easy to see why most of the people above have a hard time telling truth from lies as they don't recognize truth when it hits them in the face.
Yeah, keep beleiving Clinton, Obama, Rudy, Mitt, as they never have lied......DUH
I am SO SO Sick of all the religious mumbo jumbo.  Can we talk about the issues.. PLEASE?
Stay classy, Huckabee Hater
Jerry, there may be a place for religion in government, but not as practiced by the Rev. Huckabee. If huck is the nominee, not only will I vote for the Democrat, but I'll change my registration.

The man is not a conservative, and as a Jew, I'm not comfortable with his unabashed evangalism.
Having a Buddhist orientation, and knowing that a jury would vote that the Jesus religion is all a sham if they had all of the facts, nevertheless I must admit that Huckabee is right - all laws reflect some moral idea. Example - law requiring cars to get better gas mileage. Moral reason - we should preserve our enviroment by reducing pollution as much as we can. In Re: Huckabee being homophobic.  Probably is. Not a good thing. But I don't think that he has any intention of rounding them up and putting them in camps as a previous writer expressed. Huckabee would probably be a good President. Of course, Ron Paul would be an exceedingly better President, as he understands freedom and foreign policy better. So when I go to caucuses, that's who I'll support and work for.
THANK GOD FOR MIKE HUCKABEE. ALL THESE DRUGGIES, THAT STAY HIGH AND WANT AN ABORTION AFTER THEY GOT HIGH AND HAD SEX.  PRAY TELL ME WHEN A MAN CANNOT PROFESS HIS RELIGIOUS BELIEFS WITHOUT THE LIBERAL INFIDELS PROTESTING.  WE DONT CARE ABOUT YOU ATHESISTS BELIEFS AND NOT GONNA RUN YOU DOWN FOR IT. YOU CAN STAY HIGH,PREGNANT,UNEDUCATED AND ATHESIST.  YOU ONLY ANSWER TO YOUR SELF.  iTS JUST WE DONT WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU.  So GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HILLARY VOTE, BUT AS USUAL MOST OF YOU WILL BE TOO HIGH TO GO VOTE. OR BUSY TRADING FOOD STAMPS FOR DRUGS AND BOOZE.
The Criminal Record of Mitt Romney

Arrests and Other Contacts with Law Enforcement
WAYLAND, MASS. (1981) -- ARREST- DISORDERLY CONDUCT.
In June 1981, ROMNEY attempted to launch family motorboat at Cochituate State Park despite park ranger advising that he was prohibited from doing so because his boat did not display proper registration. ROMNEY was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. ROMNEY handcuffed and transported in bathing suit to Natick police station, where released on own recognizance.5 Disposition: Charges were dropped when ROMNEY threatened to sue the state for false arrest; case dismissed at Natick District Court in February 1982. ROMNEY successfully petitioned that the files be sealed.6

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. (c. 1965) -- ARREST- CHARGE NOT KNOWN.
ROMNEY was arrested along with future wife Ann Davies for actions in connection with practical joke at Cranbrook Academy. Reportedly ROMNEY and several friends "bought huge blocks of ice from the local gas station, laid towels over them, and went sliding down the slopes of a nearby golf course."7

HUNTSVILLE, UTAH (2002) -- USE OF PROFANITY WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT
On February 10, 2002, while overseeing 2002 Winter Olympics, ROMNEY became extremely angry upon encountering a traffic jam at a venue and proceeded to berate two persons authorized to direct traffic there, including with obscenity laced tirades, according to a police captain at the scene and a volunteer targeted by ROMNEY. The traffic volunteer Shaun Knopp stated that ROMNEY "asked me who the f___ I was and what the f___ I was doing. We got the Olympics going on we don't need this s___ down here."8 Weber County Sheriff's Office Capt. Terry Shaw, commander of the Snowbasin venue, stated that ROMNEY twice used the F-word while also berating one of his officers, Deputy Kodi Taggart. Capt. Shaw stated that ROMNEY "was abusive" to his officer and advised, unsuccessfully, that "he needs to apologize."9 ROMNEY denied part of the allegation, insisting he hadn't used the F-word since high school -- but admitted he used a word he described as "H-E-double hockey sticks." Disposition: The Utah Department of Safety advised it had decided against initiating a "profanity probe."10

Known Associates
FABIAN, ALAN: Until August 2007, FABIAN was a national finance committee co-chair for ROMNEY. Now under federal indictment for mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury, obstruction of justice and defrauding companies of $32 million in Maryland.11

GARRITY, JAY (a/k/a "Trooper"): Until July 2007, GARRITY provided security and advance for ROMNEY whom he codenamed "LXX"; GARRITY now under investigation in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for impersonating a police officer and other charges.12

HEALEY, KERRY MURPHY (a/k/a "SHERRY" 13): HEALEY recruited by ROMNEY as accomplice for 2002 Governor's race; subsequently relegated to background role.

Additional information
POSSIBLE ANIMAL CRUELTY (1983)
In 1983, ROMNEY transported the family Irish setter, SEAMUS, in a dog carrier strapped to the roof of his Chevrolet station wagon during a 12-hour drive from Boston, Mass. to Lake Huron. No complaint was made or charges filed at time. However, Massachusetts law prohibits carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon."14

POSSIBLE RECKLESS DRIVING (date unknown)
According to a published account, "red lights make [ROMNEY] impatient." Per the report, at a red light at an intersection in Boston, "There was a truck in front of him but no other traffic anywhere in sight... .So [ROMNEY] pulled out around the truck -- to the left of the truck and then right in front of it -- and made a right turn. Then, at the next intersection, where again there was no traffic, he stopped and then went straight on through a red light. And then, suddenly, a policeman appeared out of nowhere.15

ALLEGED BRUSH WITH INTRUDER (c. MID 1960s)
Subject ROMNEY maintains that while a high school student at Cranbrook School in Michigan he encountered an intruder in his dorm: ROMNEY, who says, "I figured I was dead for sure," states he escaped the unknown intruder by jumping out a ground-floor window and running for help.16

To Huck Hater:

Mr. Huckabee's religious behavior should not give him any more rights than your homosexual behavior should give you. Both are choosen behavior patterns and have no place being legislated. He was not born christian and you were not born gay. Get over it. I hear way more hatred coming from your side than I do the other.

And to everyone else:
Merry Christmas, Kwanza, Hannaka(sp), Holiday, etc...
Oh, so the fact that abortion rates don't change if you ban it doesn't even enter into his logic?

Why ban it if it won't go away? I'm all for fighting abortion, but banning it seems to be counterproductive. Fight teen pregnancy by providing birth control more freely, because banning abortion just forces women to go to the black market--and let's face it, giving gangs another source of revenue (and a positive image in the eyes of many women) is just a BAD idea.

You can't have it both ways: if you want a society like we've got where education lasts till the mid-twenties, then you can't have teens getting pregnant. But the teen years are the period when the sex impulse is at its very strongest. Expecting that words of any kind will stop teens from having sex is absurd. The only way to prevent teens having abortions is to provide them with birth control--but conservatives seem hell-bent on getting rid of both birth control AND abortion. I say again, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS! You can talk all you want about "the Bible says" but until you start actually trying to bring about what "the Bible says" in a way that makes sense, you're just as crazy as Osama (he thinks HE'S a paragon of morality too, don't forget).
He's a GOMER PYLE..................SHIZZAAM

Jeb, Florida (Sent Friday, December 21, 2007 1:54 PM)
------------
That is the most laughable post I've ever heard!  Listen up here Jeb! BEING GAY IS NOT A CHOICE IT'S HOW YOU ARE BORN! Second, the hate from the religoius right on this issue is all over the place.  Ever hear of the Phelps Family in Wichita Kansas?  They are an extreme version of the religous hate spewed against gay americans, but their general attitude is prevalent. It's now expressed in so called referendums to block same sex marriage, hate crimes legislation, and anti-discrimination in employment laws.  People like you are becoming an endangered species.  Its no wonder you are getting so desparate with your views and tactics.  You, my friend, are an ignorant idiot!  It's probably because you are like Huckabee.
"THANK GOD FOR MIKE HUCKABEE. DAVID ANDERS PHARR,TX."

You must make your religious cronies so very proud, what with your eloquence and intelligence.
Jennifer. Your letter about religion began with a Masonic Core Principle, that of a solid foundation. The rest of it seemed to be of a personal preference nature, which as a defender as to choice of belief systems, I accept. May your House be square.
The ten commandments are the basis of all law?  Most of the ten commandments have absolutely nothing to do with morality (don't covet oxen or worship statues, etc?).  And the few that do happen to be related to "morality" ie. don't murder - does anyone believe that these were acceptable practices before being carved on some rock?
Huckabee is what would happen if Dan Rather, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton were involved in some kind of laboratory accident. The cross bit was just like when the Clintons try to distract with trivial crap.
Robert, just out of curiousity, what does your post have to do with this article? It's entirely about Huckabee and doesn't even mention Romney... just wondering.
Has anyone noticed that the Democrats have not been picking on Huck lately?  Wonder why?  He has his flaws like everybody else but they have been uncharacteristically quiet.  The Democrats are HOPING Huck gets the nomination because he is the glass jaw they have been waiting for. I think it is time to put some REAL THOUGHT into what is about to happen.  If we do not put a REAL conservative on the Republican ticket, Hillary Clinton, will be our next Commander-in-Chief.  That is why the new web site regarding Christian Evangelicals for Mitt has take off. (http://www.evangelicalsformitt.org/)  People are actually starting to think about their options if this thing does not pan out as the evangelicals have hoped.  Huck is the wrong guy.  Period.

http://www.evangelicalsformitt.org/
Jeb in Florida:  Sexual orientation is not learned behavior; it's not something you choose.  It's something innate to you -- you have a genetic predispotion to be straight or gay.  I'm sure you didn't wake up on your 18th birthday, weigh your options, and decide to be heterosexual.  Similarly, homosexuals don't choose to be gay.  The only choice gay people have regarding their sexual orientation is whether to remain in the closet and hide from bigots like yourself or whether to be open about it.
Jennifer, I value your opinion about Mormans. I've never heard of a morman, but you must know A LOT about them. I wonder if they're like Mormons?
Huckabee has a closet full of skeletons - and a son who enjoys murdering animals.  The more I hear of him, the more I hope he goes away - along with the slavery-rich heritage of his Southern Baptist religion!
What angers me, and I assume this is true for other non-christians, is the assumption by these born-agains that they are morally, ethically superior.  How does a belief in a saviour automatically make you a better person?  I've met many hypcritical, hateful, greedy people who claim Christ and have that crazed assumption.  I've also met many good folks who claim Him and don't think they're any better than me because of it.  I've met good and bad people who have a different religion, good and bad people who have no religion. I don't assume I have greater intelligence because I question rather than believe, don't assume you have greater morals because you believe rather than question! Happy birthday to your Lord, by the way.
"MORMANS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS!"

Let's start with being able to spell "Mormon."  If you know what the word is, how can you pass judgement on the denomination?

"Moral issues can be federally legislated"

Moral issues can be legislated, but morality cannot ... you cannot force someone to accept your mores, period ... learn the difference ...

"The Ten Commandments may be present in the Supreme Court ..."

They're not ... there's a figure of Moses holding them carved into the facade of the building - the Ten Commandments themselves are not visible ... the symbolism of living under the rule of law (even though, then, it was religious law) is the imagery it projects ...

"If he and Hillary end up as the finalists ..." the finalists?  What is this? "American Idol?"

The bottom line is this (and it's a question gor the Governor:  "when ... pressed on whether he would ... hang ... the Ten Commandments in his office, Huckabee said, "[I] don't know why I wouldn't."

Governor, could it be because you would be the President of the United States of America and would have taken an oath to UPHOLD, as opposed to selectively follow, the Constitution of the United States of America?

I don't know why everyone is criticizing Huckabee for his "fascism" and religious views when he is merely trying to make things right.

Everyone seems to believe that they have the right to contraception, or sex before marriage, or sodomy with their wife, or abortion. These are all immoral. Under Huckabee we will be able to put a stop to all of this. We will make immoral things like contraception illegal across the whole country instead of letting states decide what to do.

I for one welcome a president who will not let his actions be swayed by the courts or the American people. Bush was on the right track but he still allows too much individual free choice. When you give people free choice they always mess up. Huckabee can fix that.
Huckabee the tolerant (?????) baptist preacher for President!  Huck can women hold ministerial credentials and pastor Southern Baptist Convention churches?  No!  Huck will tongue talking Pentecostals make it to heaven?  No!  Huck will Apostolic Pentecostals who do not beleive in the Trinity make it to heaven? No!  Huck were your comments about the Mormon beleif that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers, really taken out of context! No!  Frankly I am tired of religion and its messengers who have highjacked the political process. If Huck is elected as President the country will continue its downward spiral of no tolerance, no compassion, no world leadership and complete polarization od the electorate.  I'm a Democrat that is fed up with the polarization of the last 12 years.  I'm will not vote for Hilary nor for the Hucks of the world.  Obama and McCaine have captured my imagination and interest.
"these born-agains ..."

You mean, "Faux Christians" ...
Sorry Hater but every biology lesson in the world says you are wrong. Obviously to argue that you were born gay would give you the minority status you crave. But Life does not work that way. Everything in the biology of this wonderful planet work in incredible ways to propogate itself. It's the basics that makes the world go 'round. Homosexuality, Bisexuality, etc. is nothing more than choice. Your environment may have influenced your choice early enough in life that it seems to be a born trait, but it is not. Mr. Huckabee would argue that your abilty to choose came from God in the garden of eden. Or you can say that our ability to choose comes from our unusual self awareness that is not common in the animal world. But, life fights to propogate itself, and obviously homosexuality does not propogate life. I am not damning your or anyones lifestyle (choices). But your sex life is your choice. It is a behavior. The only ones that may not fit this truth would be hermaphrodites, and they would be a genetic error, not the standard.
Live as you choose, but your genetic code did not make you gay, bi, etc. It made you hetro, you and or your environment pushed you to choose something else.
And for someone who is demanding understanding, you express a enormous amount of hatred and intolerance. Seek therapy.
The press is making sound like they don't want any religion in anything we do in life.

What part of separation of church and state don't you understand?
I don't want your religion in my life and you shouldn't want mine in yours and any politician who presumes otherwise is not fit for office, because they are supposed to be the governor of ALL the people, not just the 'chosen ones'
David from Pharr, Tx - I believe you have set the record for the most ignorance expressed in the fewest words.  Congratulations.  Your prize of a pile of donkey dung will be arriving shortly.
Wils....

Thanks.
Please just replace the "a" with an "o" for me.I like my editors(I've been collecting groupies for years) and you seem to be one that will work for free...
Clearly, the Huck is a judeophile.  Who else would be getting Chinese food on xmas?!
Kato,
You are right. I did not wake up on my 18th birthday and choose to be hetro. I was born that way. Same as every other person on earth. Take a biology course. Hetrosexuality is a genetic deadend. Biological life does not work that way, or the "predisposed" would be able to self propogate.
PS: just because I don't believe that homosexuality is born into people, does not make me a bigot, hater, intolerant, etc. I could care less about your sexlife. I just don't believe that gays should get the "not my choice, no responsibility" card. There is nothing to prove your point of view, while I have the whole biological world that we live in as proof.
"Sorry Hater but every biology lesson in the world says you are wrong."

That's actually a false statement - GoSheep - what else is new?

"Please just replace the 'a' with an 'o' for me."

It's easier to show how wrong you are, using your poor spelling as a starting point ...

"ATHESIST?"

'nuff said ...

You trully are an ignorant fool with your head so far up your a*s you can't see the fact that no one in their right mind choses to be gay. Also your so called biology argument holds no water because recent genetic testing has shown that one's sexual orientation is indeed genetic, how one expresses it is based on genetics, and therefore, if one is gay, it's because their sexual orientation is coded that way in their genes. And here's another tid bit for you, democracy might be majority rule, but it also requires mechanisms to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority.  Therefore, laws that are passed for gays are necessary component to protect us from idiots like you.  And yes, there is a lot of hate in my post because we hate people like you.  You are what's wrong with this country.  And Huckabee is the same way.  And anyone who votes for him is an idiot like you.

Let me just comment on your #1. "Mormons are Christians, they are Mormons."

By your logic than

Baptists are not Christians, they are Baptists!
Evangelicals are not Christians, They are Evangicals!
Prysbytarians are not Christians, Methodist,.... and on and on.

Do you know why members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are called "Mormons"? Do you know who Mormon is? Have you ever read his account of Christ's Gosple?

Religious people are often consided closed minded. That makes me laugh for here is a prime example of close mindedness. People who don't know what they are discussing, discounting something they know nothing but hearsay about. Rediculous.

Mormons don't wear crosses around their necks or place a cross on their buildings as a sign of their devotion to Christ , but we meet together, take care of each other, work hard to serve each other and our neighbor the best we know how, study and teach each other from the same bible you "christians" read and we try to live like Christ not just sundays but the best we can each and every day to show our love for Him.
If my son were murdered with a shotgun, I would not hang it on the front of my home or on my living room wall to remember him by, but I would and do have his portrait on my walls in my heart.

All I know is that morality can't be truuly legislated.  We wouldn't need rules and laws if everbody was moral and did want they needed to do.  Everyone has a different set of moral rules as best as I see it.  Huckabee tries to be welcoming, but I am sure there are people who don't see him as such.

To Jeff Reed from Little Rock who said: "He's so arrogant (see Pharisees) that he believes HIS church has a corner on Jesus Christ."
I believe that you are incorrect in terms of relating Pharisees to being arrogant.  They are the precursors to rabbinic Judaism which is what people know today.
