Huck downplaying Iowa expectations?

Posted: Sunday, December 23, 2007 7:17 AM by Chuck Todd

From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy
SIOUX CITY, IA – The public's expectations for the success of Mike Huckabee's campaign have soared almost as high as his Iowa poll numbers. And now the campaign's newest advisor, Ed Rollins, is predicting an Iowa win. Rollins told CBS recently that he expects to emerge from the early caucus victorious, but the candidate seemed surprised by the confidence after a rally at North High School here on Saturday.

"We've never said we had to win Iowa," Huckabee said. "We certainly said we needed to be in one of the three seats out of here – either first class, business or coach. Now that Ed is willing to upgrade us to first class automatically I better call Ed and ask him…does he have the frequent flyer miles to make sure we get there?
The former-governor said that he is "playing to win" in Iowa, but if he doesn't, he feels that he can still be competitive in other early voting states like South Carolina, Michigan, Florida, Georgia and Texas. But you can't accuse Huckabee of downplaying the importance of a potential victory in the Iowa caucuses.

"If we do win in Iowa it is a true upset of the classic form," Huckabee said. "To be outspent like this and outmanned, to win here is huge and it gives us a great momentum going into the next several contests."

Also on the candidate's agenda on Saturday – Is Rush Limbaugh picking a fight with Mike Huckabee? Some members of the media seem to think so. Rush had some harsh words for the newest GOP presidential frontrunner on his show last week, supposedly in response to a Huckabee aide calling Rush an "entertainer."

"I don't know [why he's mad]," Huckabee said. "I don't know, I mean I really don't. But all I can do is hope that Rush will love me as much as I love Rush because I think he's terrific and he's been a very clarion voice for the conservative movement. Somebody said something that upset him. I don't know who and I don't know what and I can't fix what I don't know."

But Huckabee said he was willing to try. Asked by The Politico's Jonathan Martin if he had been in contact with the radio personality Huckabee said, "I don't have his number. If you have it Jonathan why don't you give it to me. I'd love to talk to him. So, maybe put it on the web that if he'll call me I'd love to visit with him because I'd certainly like to clarify if there's any issue there. I think he's a person who would probably love to see my candidacy succeed if he knew me."

We've put it on the web governor, now it's up to you and Rush to do the rest.

Huckabee will deliver the sermon at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX this morning where Pastor John Hagey has gotten some heat for being critical of the Catholic Church and its failure to condemn the actions of Adolf Hitler during WWII. On Friday Huckabee distanced himself from Hagey's comments but said it would not affect his visit on Sunday.

"I'm going to let Pastor Hagey speak to that because, you know, I can't speak for him anymore than he could speak for me. I'm sure that there're things I'll say that he disagrees with," Huckabee told reporters on his press bus.

"I would certainly never characterize the Catholic Church as being pro-Nazi, never. I don't know when he said those things or when he wrote them I have no idea…there's things I said 20 years ago I wouldn't say today. If that's still his position, I wouldn't agree."

Huckabee caught my attention for a short time, but now I'm beginning to see that he is simply a Televangelist, asking for my vote (instead of money).  Smooth talker with very little substance, spending my money any way he pleases.  And that probably includes a big red cadillac parked in his driveway.  But, you'd better not say anything negative, because it's Christmas...and Jesus wouldn't like it.  Back to Rudy or Romney for me.
<< "We've never said we had to win Iowa," Huckabee said. "We certainly said we needed to be in one of the three seats out of here – either first class, business or coach. Over his shoulder, Ric Flair suddenly yelled: "You either fly first class or you don't fly at all, WOOOOOOOO!!!"

Huckabee just needs Irwin R. Schyster or The Million Dollar Man to endorse him now; the more years of rhetoric by endorsers that directly contradict his populist, IRS abolishing stance, the funnier.
Perhaps we should blame this John hagey for his church ignoring the lynchings years ago, and what about the kennedy assasination and poverty in America and rascism, I didn't here his voice complaining anywhere when ugly things happened in our country.
Just another religious blamer pointing fingers when a mirror when do much better.
Huckabee has renewed my faith in America, how dare other politicians namely Rommeny critize him for his pardons.  He put human decisions before political decisions, and won 4 times in a Democrat State that was controlled by the Clinton machine.  Even Clinton got beat on his second term. That was after people in Arkansas found out Hillary called them hicks when she first came to Arkansas. They also found out her strong communist views, and the fact she worked for a well known communist law firm, defending the black panthers for murder and terrosism.  She also refused to go by Clinton after their marriage, so it was easy for an unknown Republican to win the governor away from Bill. In the next election she had Clinton behind her name.  I am scarced to death this communist worship woman will make it to the whitehouse she trashed, and stole the furniture from. WAKE UP AMERICA SEND HER TO RUSSIA OR CHINA
May the good Lord deliver us from ANOTHER evangelical, inexperienced, "fresh, new", unitr not a divider southern governor

Bob Jones...John Hagee...what's the difference?  Both are scary7 as Hell.

as a catholic, i am tired of huckabee bringing religion into this race....if he becomes president who is going to show up on his advisory commitee?? you guessed it.......the church lady from saturday night live..DID YOU SAY SATAN????
Huckabee and Bush

*  Southern governors

*  "Likeability"    Good ol' boys  Humor

*  Inexperienced in foreign policy

*  Evanagelical   "born again"

*  Press gives them a pass when they make "stupid"
     statements

*  Have just under the surface tempers

*  Courting & using the church crowd

*  Can't be accused of being "policy wonks" or even

*  Encourage voters to over look their lack of
knowledge and trust them on the basis of
     their personalities
A black stray female cat had four kittens on my patio, all four were black, and three were healthy and the runt looked like he would would not make it, my wife named the kittens and named the runt Huck, and predicted he would survive, and become the strongest.  How right she was, even O reilly, Shawn Hannity, and all the other fox news guys are writing him off, NOT FAIR AND BALANCED ANY MORE.  HUCK THE RUNT KITTEN IS NOW THE LEADER OF THE PACK AND IS SURGING JUST LIKE OUR TROOPS THE DEMOCRATS WROTE OFF. REMEMBER HILLARY BEING CRITICAL AND LECTURING OUR GENERAL BEATRUS AS SHE AND HER LIBERAL NUTS NAMED HIM, AS HER PERVERT HUSBAND LIKE TO SAY HOW DARE A WOMAN THAT TOOK DRUG AND CRIMINAL MONEY FROM CIGAR BILLS PARDONS CRITIZE HIM, ANY DEMOCRAT THAT VOTES FOR HER EITHER HATES THIS COUNTRY OR CANT READ   SHAME
Huckaa be such a nice guy. I am impressed with his non-defensive, and open-hearted response to Rush.

Huckabbe is the kind of personality suited to be president. I don't agree with him on  a lot of things, but I have to love him.

Pastor John Hagee, is one of America's greatest
prophecy preachers. He does consistently preach the
truths of God's Holy Word. Amereica needs such an
spiritual awakening, If you study the rise and fall of all the great empires of the past, you will find
all those things with their fall, are trully consistenr with what has and is happening to and in
America today. Adultery, preverted life styles and
immorallity and lack of true bibilical values for
successful and redemtive living will eventually sink
our ship, not fogeign terroists, altho we have miltitudes of them. I give Huckabee, grear credit for
his moral and spiritual convictions.
Maybe Hagee will discuss his divorce, which is adamantly proscribed by Jesus. It's always entertaining to hear Moralists justify their defiance of that, which always leads to their denial of the flesh. They end up sounding like just another Cultist.
I think the Wayne Dumond (Mike's "Willie Horton") parole is a huge negative.

He'll lose the General Election for sure if he gets the nomination just based on all of his exoneration of rapists and murderers in AS.

What's wrong w/Iowans anyways?  How come they don't like McCain?  The one w/the most integrity of the Republicans?
Sounds like the Huckster doesn't know anything. It seems like everytime someone confronts him about issues he says "I don't Know". Like the time he talked about calling Bush's policies a "Bunker Mentality", he said "I don't know if I wrote that" or about Rush Limbaugh, he said "I don't know why Rush Limbaugh is mad" or about his Christmas Commercial with the cross all lit up and he said "it wasn't intentional" but it was plain as day and even lit up in the commercial. I for one don't want somebody in the White House that whenever something doesn't go right they just say "I don't know why that happened"... Kinda Scary!
Huck’s use of the “Christian Leader” title and the Cross in his ads and his attempt to denigrate Mitt Romney’s religion is a thinly-veiled attempt to impose a religious test in violation of Article Six of the Constitution The Huckster was the keynote speaker at an anti-Mormon conference in Salt Lake City. And he knows nothing about Mormons? And the “Christian Leader” doesn’t want to release his sermons? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ry0xrOsqSQ Mike fails on so many levels as a true conservative. The moniker “Huckster” is well-earned. http://comments.breitbart.com/d8tmnuhg0/
Hey "Debra", guess what? Millions upon millions of us use the title 'Christian' and the cross, and we're not even thinking about Mormons. Yes, hard to believe, but we're really not sitting around pondering Mormonism. Every once in a great while we do, when one knocks on our doors telling us that we're wrong, but beyond that, we really don't. Mike doesn't need to slander Willard, Willard's own mouth/lies are taking care of that for him. You know, how he and Pa marched with MLK? How he was a lifelong hunter, endorsed by the NRA, would be more liberal than Ted Kennedy for the gay marriage crowd, how he was prolife, then prodeath, then prolife. Willard is sinking Willard's campaign, not Mike Huckabee's Christmas message. Get a grip! Go Mike!
i am disapointed and insulted that Mr. Huckaby is using Christianity and focusing on his religion to win an election. I have always believed that the Anerican president represents all of the american people equally. My son is a Navy Commander in Iraq. YourCampaign words are hurtful to 2 Jewish parents in michigan
Indeed, at that conference of the SBC focused on "ministering to Mormons" and held in Salt Lake City (nice, huh?) his then new book was distributed to reporters along with a book entitled "Mormonism Unmasked".

Perhaps someone should start a ministry to lead Southern Baptists out of their "the Bible is the inerrent word of God and other nonsense" cult.
In response to the false allegations and double standards used against Mike Huckabee by the so-called conservative “Elite Talk Show Hosts” and writers, consider the following;
Did the current President and their elected pals in the US Congress uphold their responsibility by holding the line on spending starting in the early 90s? Did the “Elite Talk Show Hosts” and writers help vote them out of office by working night and day mocking their names as dreadfully has they have smeared Mike Huckabee’s name, only after his rise in the polls?
Their “Talking Points” propaganda warfare used against a fellow conservative who could very well be more of a conservative than they are provides a good look at their true colors.
Comments like “tax and spender”, “not a conservative”, and “soft on immigration” are merely “Talking Points” without specifics and offered in the style of propaganda as Dictators who employ the same tactics to spread only their message with little facts or specifics and/or direct rebuttal from the opposing candidate/s.
I have seen enough and prefer not to lessen or watch Rush Limbaugh, Michael Reagan, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham until after the 2008 election. I prefer my news and entertainment “UN-FILTERED!”
I rarely agree on Rush about much, but he sure can sniff out a Liberal in Conservative clothing.
I just don't know if anything Mike says is even original.  Let's keep a running list.

Foreign policy - stole that from Obama

Fair Tax - stole that from Ron Paul

Stronger military and Families - stole that from Romney

Increase taxes - stole that one from Edwards

Dealing with Illegals - stole that one from... well, ok he does have one thing that's original.  I mean he did give them tuition breaks that legal Americans didn't get.

Anyone else can add to this as the primaries go along.  This would actually be a great blog... hmmm....
"I prefer my news and entertainment “UN-FILTERED!”"

No you don't, you just don't like that they can see through this guy like a window.  All these people are saying the same thing about Mike and YOU know otherwise.  Well, you are definitely entitled to your opinion, but look at the FACTS with what he's done as Governor, not what you THINK he will do.
If Huckabee is nominated, I'm voting for Obama.  If I have to choose between two democrats, I'll take the less slimy of the two.
My, the wisdom of Huckabee naysayers who, like Rich Lowry, Robt Novak, and Pat Toomey, like to pick apart Huck whenever, and however, they can.  Take, for example, Huck's visionary FairTax. These naysayers contend that HR 25 amounts to a pipedream! Might I suggest that they take a look at the growth in the numbers of co-sponsors ( http://snipr.com/fters ) over the last eight years?

Fact is, Mr. Huckabee has shown himself to be astute as to the ramifications ( http://snipr.com/fthuckabeeonirs ) of what FairTax means, not only to middle America, but to the United States' trade and manufacturing position, globally ( http://snipr.com/tradeinequityblog ).

Further, because the income tax system affords politicians political cover to hide taxes in prices - by increasing costs to business, passed through to consumers, taxpayers will never be aware of the actual tax load they're carrying. This, Laurence Kotlikoff contends, does not support adequate taxpayer pressure on congressional spending ( http://snipr.com/meltdowninprogress ), but rather distracts taxpayers against each other (poor against rich), and individual against corporation.

Yes, the public will need to take action both to contact their legislators ( http://snipr.com/scrapthecode ), and to fund FairTax.org ( http://snipr.com/becomeamember ), in order to force passage of the FairTax Act. Can you imagine a better, more committed, salesman than a President Mike Huckabee ?  Like Ronald Reagan, he has the ability to communicate to the people and will help accelerate the urgently-needed transition to a consumption tax.
Oops, forgot one...

His platform to make people say "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" - stole that one from Santa!

Mike, you really don't want to be on his naught list.  Chuck Norris won't even be able to help out this time.
The Christian right (and other fed up conservatives) are supporting Mike Huckabee, but the right’s pundits are not flocking to support him, and many of them are actually trying to derail him. Case in point:

Rush's Hit-Piece on Huckabee (stick with it, audio of Rush)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu-ZSSaZELM

Something is very very very very wrong with this picture. Bottom line: The best candidate for the Republican nomination is Huckabee.

A person's religion is not what matters most. What is more important is what kind of character do they have. Do they llive what they profess to believe? Are they honest in their dealings with their fellow men? Do they act with integrity? Are they ethical?

it seems that Mike Huckabee can talk the talk but not walk the walk. As governor of Arkansas he had a huge number of ethical violations and was charged with many of them. Check out the list of them on the internet. Do we need a president with a political record like this as our next president? Do not elect a  "Huckster."

apacallyps Houston Texas, think about this - you have been trusting these Conservative commentators for decades to tell you who the REAL conservative is.  And now when they tell you the man that you have a "gut" feeling about is nothing more than a liberal in conservative clothing you don't believe them.  Yes, something is very very very very wrong with this picture.  You need to look at the facts about what he did as Governor and accept the truth.  This ain't hard people.
John Doe, Seattle, Wash.- Wake up! I'm not the only one that sees his attack on Romney's religion.  Where have you been? The cold weather in Seattle must be freezing your brain. Follow more than one story and you will see his TYPICAL anti-Mormon, Southern Baptist attack.  He's now working on the Catholics, which many Baptists also consider to be a cult. Pretty disgusting. Huckabee is divisive, not inclusive -- what a TERRIBLE American President he'd be, and we haven't even mentioned his politics.  AVOID HUCKABEE!

Stacey, you need to check your facts reagarding Huckabee on tuition for illegal immigrants..1st do we punish kids for the sins of the parents? perhaps we should make sure that children of other citizen criminals are permanently held down. Children have no control over how or when they are brought here. Is it better to keep them in the tax taker category or the tax payer category with an education? Now here are the facts regarding the issue..Claim: "As Governor, Mike Huckabee championed an effort in Arkansas to give in-state tuition at state colleges and taxpayer-funded scholarships to illegal immigrants."

Fact: In Arkansas Governor Huckabee supported broadening a particular merit scholarship -- not in-state tuition – to include high-achieving children who were applying for citizenship. This put these students on the same footing as permanent resident aliens, who have always been eligible for the scholarship.

The proposal to make children of illegal immigrants eligible for in-state tuition was not part of the Governor’s plan and did not pass.

The scholarships were intended to encourage all Arkansas children to work hard and excel academically. Since Arkansas has a constitutional obligation to educate all students, illegal and legal, through 12th grade, Governor Huckabee believed it was in the best interest of the state to encourage a select few (roughly 30 students would have been eligible) to continue their education. Unlike tuition discounts, the scholarship was merit-based and, because of the strict academic and financial need criteria, only open to a small number of students.

Any illegal students who wished to participate in the scholarship application process had to submit their application for citizenship. Having these students continue to their education would have enabled them to become “tax-payers” for the state rather than "tax-takers."

This debate once again highlights the difficult position that our nation's governors have been put in by the failures of the Federal Government. If immigration laws already in place had been enforced, governors would not be required to make decisions on how to simultaneously slow the inflow of illegal immigrants into their state while also trying to ensure that they are not left with increasing numbers of "tax takers."

Rush is only an "entertainer", and a very bad one at that.

Not surprised to see Huckabee getting bashed in the commentaries, given the anti-Christian that exists in America.
Rush is only an "entertainer", and a very bad one at that.

Huckabee Digs Christian Chicks (and vice versa)http://blog.al.com/jdcrowe/2007/12/huckabee_digs_christian_chicks.html
I'm Catholic, so I really don't care too much about Baptists.  Anyway, I'm sure he's not Father Huckabee, Reverend?  I'll settle for Mr. for now.  M. Huckabee needs to win Iowa.  I can't seem him going beyond w/o it.  I won't cry it over for him until after SC, but if Huckabee loses and Romney wins, my money is on Romney for the nomination.  Still, I wouldn't put money on anything today.
The real reason people like Rush, Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Drudge won't give Huckabee any credit is because these are the same morons who were saying, about a year ago, that this was a two-way race between Giuliani and McCain.

Then McCain drops off the face of the Earth and it's suddenly a two-way race between Giuliani and Romney.  Then Giuliani and Thompson.  Back to Romney.  McCain surge!  They were right all along!  Now we're looking at Romney and Huckabee atop the polls in many early states as well as national polls.

They just don't want to be wrong.  The sad thing is they've been wrong the entire time.  Any of us Iowans could have told you McCain and Giuliani didn't have a snowball's chance in July at winning here.  Maybe elsewhere, but not here.
Have any of you been to Mike's website to see where he stands the issues, he's no liberal. Stacy from N.C., show me where Mike said he would raise taxes. Get that from a smear site or from Sean Hannity who is one of the biggest anti-Huckabee mouths out there? Just get the real facts people, not what biased media is telling you.

Laurel l Gabe West Beverly Hiills Mich"

Laurel, let's have an agreement. You won't be insulted by millions of Americans having faith in Jesus Christ and saying it in public, and I (and millions of Americans) won't be insulted by your denial of Jesus Christ. Deal? Welcome to America!
What we have is here is the various "conservative" factions of the GOP all scrapping to be the lead dog.  Huckabee isn't the man for big business conservatives.  He isn't the guy for dismantle the government conservatives.  He doesn't have much appeal for strong border conservatives.  He has nothing to offer hawkish neocons.  He IS the candidate of evangelical fundamentalist, social conservatives.  These are people who have been used for many years to push candidates over the bar and into office, but their concerns don't normally get a lot of play once they're in office (see Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay, or George W Bush).  Contrary to popular opinion the face of conservatism isn't a monolith, it's a patchwork of different priorities who have found a common home in the GOP.  This is where that becomes a problem.
Jeff Hooper, WIndsor, CA, you're welcome to believe what he says NOW (flip-flop).  Look at his past record as a Governor though and he's hardly a fiscal conservative.  That's what the current President sold us on and it backfired - bad!  America cannot afford another politician in Huckabee has zero credentials and no amount of him saying he is so now will make up the difference.  He's a liberal in conservative clothing.

Here's an interesting tidbit from the Wall Street Journal.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/kstrasselpw/?id=110010958

Someone actually tried to corner him on his fiscal plan for our beleaguered economy and he wiggled his way out of that.  That's about par for the course with this guy.  Sure runs a great platform about Christmas though.  Not sure what he's going to run on day after tomorrow though.
spfldFT, that's funny you mention it because he flat out said he supported it on national television.  In an age where our hospital emergency rooms are imploding over treating illegals we are going to go and give them tuition.  Don't get me wrong, it's not their fault that their parents broke the law, but the fact is (and this is where Huckabee gets caught with his hands in America's Cookie Jar) they are not citizens.  NOT citizens (unfortunately).  Period.  Does that make sense to you?  How is this his money to think he can give it to a non-citizen?  Is this what people expected when they voted for him?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3rrOVPuyXU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHwTcWHhLaE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlLQrSATwvQ&NR (waffling on this one is classic Huckabee when you get past the rhetoric)
What amazes me about Huckabee is that nobody really ever attacks him on the issues.  Here are the top attacks on Huckabee:  1.  His name is ridiculed and made into all sorts of derogatory words.  2. His religious faith is attacked.  3. His record as Governer of Arkansas.  If you read all the post about 99% of the attacks on Huckabee fall in one of these three categories.  The first two categories of attacks  just show the shallowness of those attacking.  The third category is the only legitimate one.  The bottom line on that one is the fact that he was elected to that post 3 times once as LG and twice as Gov.  If you investigate the attacks on his record you see two things.  One, is he made some mistakes but he made them while taking action rather than sitting back and doing nothing which would be politically safer for him.  Second, you see a lot of facts that have been manipulated to make him look bad.  The bottom line is nobody hardly ever attacks him on his stances on the issues because he is for the most part dead on and everyone knows it.
Steve Whitson, all of my posts here have been about issues.  Please re-read them carefully.  In fact I'll even summarize them if you don't want to scroll up: 1) he's not a fiscal conservative - his record PROVES otherwise, 2) he's soft on immigration - his record and his own words PROVE otherwise.  I've provided links to back up both of these statements.  This is not an attack on his character - personally I think he tries to be honest and do the right thing just like the next guy.  I was even prepared to vote for the guy until I looked at his record.  Again, have YOU looked at his record and not how he's trying to sell himself now on his website?

He's just not a conservative and hardly the candidate that is going to unite the party to overcome the democratic contenders.  In fact you reminding us that he DID get re-elected in the same state that gave us Bill Clinton doesn't help your cause in the least.

You've chosen to take a very similar stance as he does anytime someone confronts him on HIS issues - to write it off as just a personal attack.  This is NOT a personal attack.  The adds run by other candidates that show exactly how he has governed are not a personal attack - they are comparative in nature.

That being said, if you agree with his fiscal policy, with his position on illegals in this country by all means - vote for the guy.  Do it with your eyes wide open though.  You have only yourself to blame then.
Yet another issue where he is weak - foreign policy.  His foreign policy is an absolute nightmare.  In an age where foreign policy is as important as ever, we have a candidate that enjoys making jokes rather than confronting the major issues.  So why should I not think he is a joke?  He has more in common with Obama, which I also think is a nice guy, than Conservatives.

Yes, I realize that some of this is "opinion", but since he has almost zero foreign policy experience, we only have his own words to go on.  And when he makes a joke about it.  How are we to take him seriously?  Do you think Kim Jong Ill or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will?

No, he will be forever known as "The Holiday Inn Express Candidate."

Merry Christmas everyone that celebrates it - Happy Holidays to the others.  But hey, Happy New Year to everyone! :)  Best of luck to all the candidates in the Primaries.
You seem like a pretty nice guy, Mike. But, the only candidate I can trust with my kids future is Ron Paul!
TO ALL YOU LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIES RUNNING HUCK DOWN AS A GOVERNOR, WONDER WHY HE WAS VOTED BEST GOVERNOR, I KNOW WHY THEY INVESTIGATED ALL THESE LIES BEING SPREAD AND FOUND TO BE UNTRUE OR MISQUOTED.  WANNA ATTACK SOMEONE GO TO BILLS PARDONS AND HILLARYS COMMUNIST YEARS AND ON AND ON.
When you look at the candidates, ask yourself this question. Why is this person running for office? They will all pretty much say the same thing. "Too save the country"

Then, when you get to Ron Paul remember unlike ALL other candidates - Never voted himself a pay raise, never taken a gov paid junkett, doesn't participate in the gov pension program, gives part of his staffing budget back to treasury every year, wont take corporate or lobbyist money, won't take federal election campaign matching funds all the other candidates do. hmmm, what the heck is he doing in congress and why is he running then? Not to mention, right on iraq, right on patriot act, right on Iran, righ on economics (ronpaul2008.com/endorsements) ...hmmmm

Huckabee stood in front of all America in the debates and LIED proclaiming he was the only one on stage with a theology degree. HE DOES NOT HAVE A THEOLOGY DEGREE. Using religion to pander for votes, calling himself an evangelical christian out of one side of his mouth while lying out of the other. He drinks a different kind of Jesus juice alright.

Huckabbe is a televangalist asking for voted instead of money. He only has 3 mil. Dont his suppoirters know he needs money? I guess they will just pray for him.

He is bought and paid for - youtube,com/watch?v=0pRDxY42BpU

DAVID ANDERS, we need to set our own house in order first as Republicans and then worry about the Democrats.  You mentioned what Clinton did while in office, but does that mean we should completely overlook the egregious pardons of Huckabee?  Should we just look the other way at his history of poor judgment?  Isn't that why the current guy is in office?  Looking the other way isn't going to work - we are voting for arguably the most powerful position on the face of this earth.  Wishing things away won't make it better.  The wonder of this is that this is EXACTLY what Huckabee's video response was.  Candidates called him on his record and he responds with "Merry Christmas".  So what is his response going to be tomorrow the day after Christmas?

Ronald Reagan said in 1984, "America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under."

I support for Mike Huckabee. It is important we get this nation back in good standing with the LORD. With the way this world is going and with our enemies all around us, the only one that can save us is GOD, but He won't save you and me if we don't want Him. Huckabee is the only candidate who has a chance at getting elected that on paper has positions Christians can support.

"I didn’t get into politics because I thought government had a better answer. I got into politics because I knew government didn’t have the real answers, that the real answers lie in accepting Jesus Christ into our lives... I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ." Mike Huckabee 1998

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31

Today is a day that can change everything.

apacallyps, this is the same arrogant position that Huckabee takes so it makes sense that his supporters do.  He touts himself as a "Christian Leader" and as the only one with a Theology degree (which he doesn't have but has lied about many times). What that says and what you are saying is that you believe he is the best because you both share the same brand of Christianity. When his polls shot up he said that it was because God was endorsing his candidacy.  (Incidentally, when he came out and said that a certain chapter in Isaiah came to mind - Isaiah 40, please read.)  When his poll numbers go down is he going to say that God doesn't want him to be President now?  This is really unprecedented in the history of our nation, a candidate who's platform is - "I'm more Christian as all the rest of them".  How does he know the type of relationship all the other candidates have with God?  Who is he to judge their conversion and conversation with God?  Does he know the thoughts and intents of their hearts?  From one Christian to the next - he (Huckabee) is not the answer, He (God) is.

Stacy, give your head a shake.

Most conservatives can't vote for Rudy because he is for abortion and same sex marriage. They don’t want someone who calls themselves Christian, but believes all kinds of strange things (take a guess). Nor do they want someone blaming America for all the troubles in the world either (if you guessed Ron Paul your right). Every time Thompson speaks America feels like taking a nap. And McCain is a career politician who doesn't care about what YOU want.

The REAL problem is the Republican elites with their attacks are ruining the GOP mainstream chance of getting a President who will deal their needs and not only Wall Streets and the Insiders! Their “talking points” propaganda warfare used against a fellow conservative who could very well be more of a conservative than they are provides a good look at their true colors.
