Romney on Bhutto's death

From NBC/NJ's Erin McPike
NASHUA, NH -- After retail stop at Norton's Diner here, Romney made the following statement on Bhutto's death in Pakistan. "We have all heard with great alarm and concern the reports of additional tragedy in Pakistan. At this stage, there are conflicting reports about whether Madame Bhutto has been killed or not. But there is, of course, the very risk that she has been killed," he said.

"This points out again the extraordinary reality of global violent radical jihadism. We don't know who is responsible for this attack but there is no question that the violence we see throughout the world is violence which is not limited to Iran, excuse me, Iraq, and Afghanistan -- but is more global in nature. And this type of loss of life points out again the need for our nation and other civilized nations of the West and of the civilized world to come together to support moderate Islamic leaders, moderate Islamic people -- to help them in their effort to reject the violent and the extreme. The world is very much at risk by virtue of these radical violent extremists, and we must come together in an effort in great haste and with grat earnestness to help overcome the threat of the spread of radical, violent Jihad."

Pat, that is the most idiotic statement you have ever made. I usually dont respond this way but come-on. To blame Bush for what happend today is crazy. This woman, that evidently loved her country enough to risk her life, for it was murdered. Even those that blame the current President of Pakistan have something to base it on. You have a hatred of President Bush and thats ok. Im sure there are things he could be blamed for with a logical argument. This however is just stupid!!!

I was being sarcastic, but only to a certain extent. The fact is that the Bush administration has failed to really pay attention to Pakistan.  Instead, it throws billions of dollars over there, with no success against the tribal region harboring Taliban, Al Qada, and islamic militants.  He's so worried about IRan getting nukes, when we already have a muslim nation with nukes...Pakistan.  He should be more concerned with what's going on there.
Lee holmes, the dunce in chief is you party leader yes?  If so the repuke party did call veterans like myself unpatriotic --google Sen Max Cleland--Sen John Kerry----the dunce never fully come out and stated that those kinds of comments are not what the repuke party is about--- hence the divider (oops uniter).
To Eric Krieger, Count Your Blessings, and Terry in Des Moines, Iowa:

I very much appreciated reading your two posts back to back. First Eric, you bring out some excellent points. Decisions should be factual based. Many posting are done in childish emotional rants. This is not to imply that all are responding this way, many of the comments appear to be factually based in CONTEXT, and are excellent. Your points are well taken.
Next, Count Your Blessings reminds us all of the great opportunity we have to peacefully express our beliefs, without fear of physical retribution (in theory at least). We owe gratitude to the many people (men, women, and children) who have championed the cause of democracy in this developing country for the past several hundred years. (That is not always easy for me to express given my Native American background. Though I do not agree with how the government treated my people, I do believe the tenets upon which the government was founded are sound.)
That even includes Terry, the disabled vet from Des Moines, Iowa. Terry, thank you for doing your part in my behalf. I'm sorry you feel so scorched by this administration. If it is any consequence, I did not vote for them (Bush), but hope that they can all do the best job they can while in office.
Lets clarify things a little... I doubt that "sexism" is the main consideration for statements made by Jake and Carol addressing Ms Clinton more likley its becuase she and her husband are the apitimy of whats wrong with our current political parties( and they arn't the only ones the same could be said about both sides to a degree)...I have heard many Democrats state how much of a criminal Nixon was becuase he lied to the American public about 15 minutes of tapes...what happend to him...I have seen Mr Clinton lie on multiple occasions to a federal grand jury and the Amercian public...why is then that he was not impeached? Simply put it is the extreamist that exsist both left and right that are the reason for the subsequent social and political erosion of our country. Why do we expect the world or anyone for that matter to respect anything having to do with the United States? I have a son that served in the US ARMY in Iraq I my self served in the US ARMY during the invasions of Panama and Grenada we both served becuase we belive in an America that abids by its constitution, believes in God,takes care of its own, supports the famly unit, encourages free entrprise, responds to those in need and promotes the same democracy we enjoy worldwide. And those of you that do not think or relize that the threat to our nation by its extream left and right groups is real then I would suggest you ask yourself a few questions...why is it a US born (8th generation) youth cannot obtain a drivers licence or state ID unless they show 5 other forms of identification with a certified statment from their parents, when an illeagle immigrant can get a drivers licence, social security number and no payback education grants without providing the same documentation? Why is it that we have governers that create laws eliminating an individules right to own a gun when they themselves carry a conceled weapon? Why do we continue to let mexican athuorities cross our border (as far as 300 or more miles into our country) and take our citezens without any due process or protection? To those of you who do not believe terrorism is a real threat to us ask yourself this why was it that I knew that it was Osama and his group that attacked the Trade Center on 9/11 and stated so as it was happening...becuase I had been following his / there exploits since 1976 along with the former USSR and its exploits in Africa,South America, the middle east and Indochina,oh and lets not forget the Germans and French and there hand in providing technologies to Iraq,Iran,Syria,Lebanon not becuase they wanted to provide the people with the opertunity of a better life no it was GREED.Despite all of this we still have the best country in the world but if we as Amercians keep putting our heads in the sand becuase our "politicial party" says one thing or another or we continuie to let the media controll our thinking by not researching the issues on our own we are destined for collapse...and the parties will still be pointing there fingers at the opposition.
For all of you who are quick to jump on the "Islamofascists did it" bandwagon, how do we know this wasn't perpetrated by the Musharraf administration and the Pakistani army?  They have a history of assasinating political opponents.
Anyone notice the disparity in coverage that is being given Obama concerning the assassination on MSNBC?

Hardly a mention is given to Clinton's response.

"I am not usually the conspiracy-calling type, but this unfortunate event seems to play precisely into our current administrations warped view of things, as if they had a hand in it (the CIA could easily set up an undercover op to guide a suicide bomber)."

"I think the Bush administration pretended to support Bhutto but really supports Musharraf.  A potential dictator better leads to situations where the US military seemingly must spend and spread, which is all the Bush administration wants in the world."

James, in answer to you're not being a conspiracy calling type, sorry. That's exactly what you are buying into with this comment and the one above it.

Steve, Your name calling and antagonistic replies are helping no one. The fact is there is an ongoing war against terror and wanting to support it in no way means we are terrified. If we don't defend ourselves we will be it's next victims as already has happened several times. Wishing it gone won't make it so.

This was a terrible act against a courageous woman. It is yet another salvo against the freedom loving peoples of the world by a radical group of jihadists who care nothing for anyone but themselves and their goals at the expense of us all.

Sticking our heads in the sand and emulating the ostrich will lead to our country's demise.
OMG, the chickenhawks are roosting today.  You're not going to win anything just bumping your gums, people.  At least some of you are behind the troops - as far behind the troops as you can get!
Terry: Dont hand me this. I demanded a SPECIFIC statement by the administration calling any veteran ''unpatriotic''.[By your simplistic reasoning, all Democrats are anti-Semites because of the words of idiots such as McKinney[father],Jackson,Moran and others. Yet this does not make it so]. Again, you were asked to provide specific citation and its source.
"For all of you who are quick to jump on the "Islamofascists did it" bandwagon, how do we know this wasn't perpetrated by the Musharraf administration and the Pakistani army?"

You didn't get your script?
"Jake, did my post not penetrate your thick skull? The terrorists are WINNING because YOU are so SCARED of them! You have fallen victim to their campaign of TERROR by being TERRIFIED."

Steve- Can you dumb it down?

Terrorism scored big and early when 2 nd amendment Americans rolled over and peed on themselves as the Patriot Act (not that they needed it - they were already spying on us) made a mockery of the Bill of Rights. Why? Because a demented monkey told them: "They hate us for our freedoms."

Well, hells ya! When you put it that way, the only sensible thing to do is surrender our rights! (except 2nd).

If that isn't rolling over and surrendering - what is? Waiting until the Taliban gets voted in on the GOP ticket?

And the GOP candidates PLAY THAT FEAR for everything it's worth, and the Borg just lap it up like yummy, yummy anti-freeze.
If Bhutto had been killed by a gun fire alone, or perhaps by a car bomb, I'd give more consideration to the idea that Musharraf had a hand in the assassination.  Instead her murderer was a suicide bomber.  An assassin on the payroll, or other hired hand isn't going to do that kind of thing, that's the act of an extremist lunatic, not a hired gun.  Besides I don't think there was a grassy knoll, or book depository building in the area of the attack.

Taliban on the GOP ticket?  Bin laden came out strong for the Kerry in the last election, that's not a joke either.  Demanding a campaign finance investigations into the videos released by Bin Laden backing Kerry is though.  The outrage people should feel when members of our government, or our military are compared to terrorist, Nazis and fascists has nothing to do with the insults given to the people who are called these names.  Instead we should be angered on the behalf of those who have suffered at the hands of the worst monsters of this and the past century.  Tens of millions of people have been murdered, and many more suffered torture and oppression  under these despotic regimes.  To say these things is to mock their suffering and sacrifice, by making light of it.
