McCain's response ad

Posted: Friday, December 28, 2007 6:21 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
McCain is up with a response ad to Romney's negative ad. McCain skewers Romney in the ad -- running in New Hampshire -- using the words of two state papers.

"The Union Leader says John McCain has 'conviction' and 'Granite Staters want a candidate who will look them in the eye and tell them the truth,'" and announcer says, adding, "'John McCain has done that. Mitt Romney has not.' The Concord Monitor writes, 'If a candidate is a phony ... we'll know it. Mitt Romney is such a candidate.'"

Fight, fight, fight!!!

What fun.
This is a filthy dirty attack ad by a sleezy, bitter, ill-tempered, and unfit presidential contender.  Romney's adds have been contrasting their stances on issues; McCain has just attacked a fellow Republican's character.

If you watch Romney's ads, you may agree more with John McCain.  Its a fair ad.  McCain's is a low blow using the words of some of the most liberal newspapers in the nation.

New Hampshire Republicans, who do you want as your next president?  Do you really want a guy who uses liberal talking-points to undermine the successful career of a fellow Republican?  He's a man who has done the same to his colleagues in the Senate for the past six years.  Being a POW does not make you a good man- McCain is a very bad apple.
Well, as far as I can tell, this is the first "ATTACK" ad.  Romney's have been contrasting/comparing in nature.  They have all been complimentary about his opponents' character.  McCain's is a pathetic low blow at Romney's character.  Lame!
What's the big deal? Mitt Romney is a phony.

He' s evolved on every position, everyone. He didn't support Reagan, he's not a hunter, MLK marcher/watcher, he raised taxes, supported gun control, was mum with the Mormon church's discriminatory policies, and has been pro-choice almost all his life!

gosh, looks like Multi-Choice Mitt's biggest opponent is himself, or at least the himself from two years ago.
Guess Mcclain has learned that smearing your foe works.Look what Bush did to Johns reputation---he learned from the dirtiest little fat guy Rove. Not that Romney is an honest guy----he argues with himself from both sides of his face.
Telling lies about your opponent is "negative" no matter how nice you put it.  Romney 2 biggest half-truths against Huckabee are the Meth dealer law which didn't pass and left penalties still much stronger than Romney's Massachusetts.  Also, Dr. Rice was not commenting on Huckabee's "foreign policy" but rather one sentence of an entire article.

Shame on Mitt.
Victor, I'm not arguing whether or not Mitt is phony.  This is a direct attack on the character of a man, it is unwarranted because a political debate is about issues.  If you disagree with Mitt's views (or former views) then don't vote for him; same thing with McCain.

McCain crossed the line by ducking behind the words of liberal newspapers to tear down Romney's character; it says nothing about his view on the issues.  Romney has been very respectful in his attempts to draw contrasts, McCain has lost all sense of respect for himself, the political process, the Republican Party, and voters.
Do any of you believe anything any of these political neonuts are saying?  John Edwards is the closest thing to a straight shooter running for president. The rest of the Democrats and Republicans are simply reacting to polls or their peer group.
Romney started the first negative ad. Now the spotlight is on him. If you can't take it don't dish it. Romney has already proven he can't win on his own merits. Go John McCain.
A Republican in Massachusetts is a tight-rope act so some positions do change.  Some of Mitt's changes aren't changes at all.  He hunted some as a young man, but not in Massachusetts.  He's not a leftie anti-varmint hunter. His father was a supporter of MLK when few else were.  He comes from good stock.  Harvard Law and Business with results to match, turned around the Olymipics, successful Governor of a liberal state-  this guy has lived a life and deserves our support.  McCain, nice war hero, but Romney's better on points.  Decision Mitt.
