'Whoop,' there it is

Posted: Monday, December 31, 2007 5:37 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Aswini Anburajan
JEFFERSON, IA -- "Whoop 'em." That's what Obama promised to do to prevent Republicans from "stealing" the election in 2008.

A voter here told Obama that he believed that elections in 2000 and 2004 had been "stolen" by the Republicans and wanted a promise from Obama that he would fight any dirty tricks in 2008.

Obama responded, "I intend to whoop 'em so good that it won't even be close, and they can't steal the election. It won't be 47 on one side, 47 on the other," Obama said of his candidacy.

"I promise you this: If for any reason this thing is close, we will fight it tooth and nail to the end because too much is at stake in this election. Too much is at stake," Obama added.

Whoop 'em = Turn up the heat

Everyone coming to the same point slowly:-)

Prepare for Clinton - Obama ticket!
Go Obama - this guy will never lay down.  He wont run away on election night like Hillary is doing.  She is running off to NH the night of the caucus.

Obama responded, "I intend to whoop 'em so good that it won't even be close, and they can't steal the election. It won't be 47 on one side, 47 on the other," Obama said of his candidacy."

So he's gone from working with them to, "whooping", them. By bringing us all together? I'm just glad that Barack has been so consistent in his message, and an exemplar of the new kind of politics I've heard so much about...

I await the many who will laud this move despite the fact that it is the antithesis of his stated position and philosophy of campaigning and governing.

Additionally, it's nice to know that he won't fall victim to false modesty either. It's the rare politico who boasts and predicts a landslide before they know whether they are going to win a single contest, or be the party's nominee. Bravo, again, Barack.

Van
Now I know why the Democrats are always fighting. They think someone is stealing something from them. They'd be much more calm, and lucid, if they took their meds.
Awwwwwwwwww Van, feeling kinda Neglected are ya? It shows in your post today. Landslide baby, that's what we're talking about.Hillary, will be to busy explaining to the Prosecuter, who it was that gave her security breifing's, when we All know she did'nt have security clearance.LANDSLIDE BABY, we're gonna whoopem to the Point, that even the Supreme Court won't have any say this time.

" DELUSIONAL THINKING BY COMMON SENSE AMERICAN'S IS OVER"
Spin away Van, Spin away. lolololololololololololol
BEWARE IOWA, YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED BY EDWARDS' AND CLINTON'S CAMPAIGN TRICKS. THEIR ADS ARE FINANCED BY BIG BUSINESS, SWIFT BOAT-LIKE 527's, PACS OR LOBBYISTS.
Barack Obama is the only Democratic candidate who has any chance of reclaiming the rightful position of everyday Americans. Please let's not be hood-winked by loud talking, fast-talking politicians again! With Obama's mix both of heritage, experience in the real world, and good old American know how, only he can bring people together to vote as one in order to solve our problems. We can all be fooled by the screaming rhetoric of angry democrats or promise-you- anything-democrats Obama is not one of them , he is a genuine work-your-way-up, work-hard, be-smart, grab 'em by the straps  Democrat. he is our one chance.  Don't not be fooled, Iowa or beyond, please nominate Obama, he's not just hope, he's our only hope, and only he can "Whoop 'em".
Wake up democrates & republicians the best candidate for 2008 is Fred Thompson.
Van, when you whoop them than you unite them. It worked for Alexander the Great, it will work for Obama.
Does anyone really beleive that Barack will win the Dems. nomination? Perhaps yes, there are those who do.

However, most people already know that the Republicans will eat him alive in the general election. Don't misunderstand me, I like the chap, and would love to see him be President one day, but the reality is that the Repbulicans will paint him as a Rookie, a high risk not worth taking in these dangerous times - as Bill Clinton has alreday suggested.

Republican 527 groups will emerge with all kinds of ads. and before you could say "White House", Barack would be Swift-boated, 10 times faster and 10 easier than John Kerry was.

This is a man the 527s will point out, who has no conviction and does not take a stand on hard issues, preferring to abstain from voting "YES" or "NO" by  say "present".  Will he have the conviction to defend America when the going gets tough? Hmmmm!

For me the real story is the PRESS, or more so the elites among them, who have once again abdicated their responsiblity to report fairly and with balance for all candidates.

I thought Obama was promoting himself as the ONLY candidate who could bring all parties together? Once again, where did his politics of hope go? He can't be their best friend and "whoop" them at the same time...also, how does he intend to do this? He's good at slogans but never explains how he will follow through...because he doesn't know himself! Hillary for President!!!!
Obama doesn't have any fight in him. That is his problem.  He is soft.

Barack Hussein Rezkobama is your typical crooked Chicago Democrat on the take from special interests. You coastal dwelling people get very little Chicago local news. Even the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper, which is slightly left of Lenin, ran a series of articles on Rezkobama's crooked dealings. Do your homework- Rezmar Corporation.
One of Illinois' most prominent local Democratic fundraisers, Rezko and his companies donated over $200,000 to Obama. Rezko also hosted a 2003 event to boost Obama's campaign fund.

Obama and his wife were already flush with success when they went house hunting last year. Their combined income--bolstered by payments for his best-selling autobiography and advances for future books--topped $1.67 million. His wife, Michelle, had recently been promoted to a $316,962-a-year position as vice president at the University of Chicago Hospitals. House has 4 fireplaces. Rezkobama, a man of the people! The Chicago Sun-Times recently reported that Mr. Rezko, around the same general period he was wheeling with Obama, also provided a preferential price for a property purchase by U. S. Representative Luis Gutierrez (D). There is a pattern here. Instead of transferring cash to buy influence, Rezko was engaging in structured property transactions and preferential treatment of public officials to confer significant financial benefits on them, far above the legal limits of any legitimate political contribution permitted by federal law.

Barack Hussein Rezkobama wrote letters to city and state officials supporting his political patron Tony Rezko's successful bid to get more than $14 million from taxpayers to build apartments for senior citizens. The deal included $855,000 in development fees for Rezko and his partner, Allison S. Davis, Obama's former boss, according to records from the project, which was four blocks outside Obama's state Senate district. Obama's letters, written nearly nine years ago, for the first time show the Democratic presidential hopeful did a political favor for Rezko -- a longtime friend, campaign fund-raiser and client of the law firm where Obama worked -- who was indicted last fall on federal charges that accuse him of demanding kickbacks from companies seeking state business under Illinois Democratic Governor Blagojevich. In addition to a land deal, Sen. Barack Obama's ties to indicted dealmaker Antoin "Tony" Rezko include an internship the senator provided the son of a contributor at the request of Rezko, an Obama spokesman confirmed Saturday. John Aramanda served as an intern for Obama in 2005, said Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs. His father is Joseph Aramanda, a Rezko business associate who was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a federal corruption case against Rezko. Aramanda has contributed $11,500 to Obama since 2000, Gibbs said.
Barack Hussein Rezkobama has been friends with Rezko for 17 years. Rezko has been a political patron to Obama and many others, helping to raise millions of dollars for them through his own contributions and by hosting fund-raisers in his home.
Obama, who has worked as a lawyer and a legislator to improve living conditions for the poor, took campaign donations from Rezko even as Rezko's low-income housing empire was collapsing, leaving many African-American families in buildings riddled with problems -- including squalid living conditions, vacant apartments, lack of heat, squatters and drug dealers.
The building in Englewood was one of 30 Rezmar rehabbed in a series of troubled deals largely financed by taxpayers. Every project ran into financial difficulty. More than half went into foreclosure, a Chicago Sun-Times investigation has found.
"Their buildings were falling apart," said a former city official. "They just didn't pay attention to the condition of these buildings."
Eleven of Rezko's buildings were in Obama's state Senate district. Rezkobama is friends with Tony Rezko, who was charged last fall with demanding kickbacks on state business deals under Illinois Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

The Democrats bemoan the high cost of healthcare and claim it is due to the greed of insurance and pharmaceutical firms, then perhaps Barrack Hussein Rezkobama can explain how the University of Chicago Hospitals can afford to pay Michelle Obama a $316,962-a-year position as vice president for community and external affairs. I guess you can't run a hospital without a VP of Community Affairs and those jobs require at least $300K+ salary. Perhaps this would be better spent on patient care! The U of C Hospitals are right in Obama's Hyde Park neighborhood, how convenient! Who got Michelle Obama the job? Did Tony Rezko pull some strings?

Vote Early and Vote Often!

Big Al
Wow, a politician who answers unscripted questions and says what he thinks - I could get used to this! :)
According to the Newsweek column by Mt. Alter, Obama is the only candidate in either party to potentially win by a landslide.
Van,

This is in line with Obama's goals for bipartisan cooperation.  He plans on convincing not only Democrats to support his candicacy, but also many Independents and Republicans.  He's already begun this effort and when he gets majority support from Americans he'll have the a clear mandate from the people to change Washington politics for the better.

Hillary could never claim that she could win with a majority.  Her negatives show that is not a possibility.
Van,

You should really be out doing something to help your candidate.  It's going to be needed.
Oh Van! He is talking about a landslide victory(whoop em). He actually has a proven record of working with the other side.

EXCLUSIVE! Mayor Rickard to vote for Obama
By Gersh Kuntzman
The Brooklyn Paper  http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/30/51/31_01iowamayor.html

BROOKLYN, IOWA — The longtime Republican mayor of this tiny heartland town will stun his neighbors — and send shockwaves that will reach his countrymen in the real Brooklyn — when he breaks ranks with the GOP to vote for Sen. Barack Obama at the Iowa caucuses this Thursday night.

WASHINGTON, DC – United States Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND) endorsed Barack Obama for President, citing his ability to unite the nation to get things done.

Superman swoops in to defend Obama
Posted:  12/31/07

Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh (aka Superman) stumped for Obama Sunday.
Actor and Iowa native Brandon Routh is better-known for his role as Superman, but Sunday night he made a cameo appearance on the campaign trail, speaking on behalf of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama at a rally in Indianola, Iowa.

Even the Grinch is voting for Barack Obama.
OK, the Grinch's animator.
Tom Ray was one of the five animators who created "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" back in 1966 (which was incidentally a favorite of Senator Obama's as a kid.)  In addition to the Grinch, we can also thank Tom for being part of the team that brought us Daffy Duck, Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, and a smart-aleck, Brooklyn-type rabbit known to most of us by the name of Bugs.

When are voters going to put two and two together.
If Obama can stand up to and win against the dirtiest machine in politics, the Clinton machine, then I doubt the republicans would be much of a problem.
Look at how he has confounded the Clinton dirty tricks machine and did so without breaking his stride.
Obama is right.  Although I think the person who he should be worried about stealing an election is Ms. Hillary.  Those people are so dirty.  We can only hope that the Clinton dirt machine will not interfere with the elections.  By the way, anyone suggesting a Obama/Hillary ticket lives in fantasyland - she is not consistent with his values and he would not consider her.  He wants to win in November - why would he put her on his ticket???
Whoop' em???????????????/

Oh! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And some people are considering voting for this man for the president of the free world.

And this man is going to keep us safe??????????

Very presidental sounding, Barak Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sound just like George Bush...not a comparison I'd want to put in voters' minds right now, BO.

nadeen from Canada

And just how do you know that Hillary Clinton is "running off" to NH on Election night????

She has said she will be here until the caucus is over.

Where do you get your information....from O'Really, Hannity or God forbid, Limbaugh????

Or do you get it from Axelrod or BHO himself??

Are you an insider to HRC's campaign?

Enough of spreading the right wingnuts twisted message and lies.

Are you a Republican or an Obama person???
van , is somebaoby a-scared . geting real testy.
I have hard time to understand Obama. Honestly, Republicans repeatedly told the world. If Obama is the nominee, Republicans don't have to say a word. I don't think Obama has any clue of that. He is NAIVE. He has NO CHANCE. You don't beat them with whooping thing. This is only start of the process, not even GE, yet. Obama already lose control. This guy will not beat Republican, actually he beat no one. He just beat himself up.
First Read, would you consider hiring me to teach Communication to some of your readers? I get the feeling some of them got the impression Obama was going to "work with" the Repblican nominee.

I have no way to describe that kind of reasoning.
the best always wins.
WE WILL WE WILL BaRACK YOU!

2008 Election results:
Barack 58%
Romney 40%
              'The Pope and Hillary'

The Pope and Hillary Rodham Clinton are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.

'The Senator' and His Holiness, however, have seen it all before, so to make it a little more interesting, the senator says to the Pope, 'Did you know that with just one little wave of my hand I can make every Democrat in the crowd go wild.

He doubts it, so she shows him. Sure enough, the wave elicits rapture and cheering from every democrat in the crowd. Gradually, the cheering subsides.

The Pope, not wanting to be out done by such a level of arrogance, considers what he could do. 'That was impressive. But did you know that with just one little wave of MY hand I can make EVERY person in the crowd go crazy with joy?  This joy will not be a
momentary display like that of your subjects, but will go deep into their hearts, and they will forever speak of this day and rejoice.'

The senator seriously doubts this, and says so. 'One little wave of your hand and all people will rejoice forever? Show me.'

So the Pope slapped her.

SO LET IT BE WRITTEN.............
Obama's message is not that hard to comprehend. The bipartisan appeal is to independent and moderate republican voters. We can replace some republicans in congress with moderate democrats and win with a mandate that will sway the votes of a few republican congress members. The plan does not involve working with the Karl Rove - Tom Delay wing of the party. Also, while win big is a terrific plan, I fully trust the obama team to fight for a fair election if necessary.
Obama couldn't even whoop George Bush if he could run for re-election.  Obama is a weenie.  His Harvard elitism and beach doping days in Hawaii alienate him from the common man.  He is a tool of corporations who gave him contributions as a community-activist and Illinois candidate. He cannot fool the people in the rural areas.  They would feel a lot more comfortable with a guy like Huckabee or Edwards or Gore, then an elitist unbanite like Obama.
The idea is to beat the Republican candidate in order to be President. Barack didn't say he would be ruthless. He'll play fair just like he has so far (sticking to issues at hand, nothing below the belt). But he knows how to win an election, and he is promising to do it.

Barack can win the moderate Republicans and the Independents. That's the key to electability in this country. He knows that, and he's counting on it. I honestly think that the really scary election is on Jan 3rd--once he's got the nomination, he's practically a shoe-in for the general. I've felt this way all along, because I had thought Barack was good ever since the 2004 convention, but he really piqued my interest when my conservative friend started reading "The Audacity of Hope" and proclaimed to us that "this guy should run the country for the next 50 years." This was back before Barack had even declared his candidacy. Now, I like term limits, personally, but that spoke volumes to me. (It's true, I swear. Every word.) I think Barack can sweep the general, and many Obama supporters are convinced that the country will be astonished at how many Republicans switch over to vote/caucus for Barack this primary.

The press doesn't really give you this kind of information, though. They focus on polls, how past elections have gone, the candidates' remarks and squabbles, that kind of thing. Barack is substantive on policy and he's got a long resume of experience getting people to work together on things. He can do the job as president, he can bring in a working majority for the first time in--how long? I don't even know; my entire life has been under the politics of bitter partisanship, and until recently I was swept up in it myself.

Barack is the candidate for the working majority that wants to make this a country we can be proud of again. Obama in '08!
Van -

Go drink your Hillary spoiled milk.  Yes, Mr. Obama should exclaim; you know what, I think I'll be able to beat the Republican "candidate".  I might be able to take them on.  Well, I sure hope the people will vote for me so I can beat the Republican "candidate".  I'm sure that's the kind of confidence you would like him to display and portray.  Then it would give you another reason to criticize him.  Tell me which person who ever ran for president that did exhibit confidence?  Get real Van!
Van,
Before you can have a chance to work with them, you have to whoop them. We have all seen how well the Republicans work with the Dems haven't we? Ever heard of negotiation before the victory? I didn't think so. Only when it is made clear to the Republicans that they have to work with the rest of us will they do so. So, yeah, he has to whoop em good.
And he can do it! He isn't saying execute them for goodness sake! He is saying that they have to know that this country wants change and that the old way of doing things has to go.

Van

This is very off topic, but I wondered if you have any thoughts about how a possible campaign by Mayor Bloomberg would effect the upcoming primaries/caucuses?  Would  his entry give those undecided Independents a place to land?  I don't know much about him--would he be a formidable candidate?  He has support from former Senators Sam Nunn and John Danforth, but I don't know how broad his base/appeal would be.
Big Al (if that is who you really are), get a life and stop posting the same crap on every blog.  Rezko was an important guy in Chicago, and so it is no surprise that Obama would be friends with him and have dealings with him. Turns out Rezko might not be who everyone thought he was or maybe is just a bad businessman.  I suppose any one who wants to be president, should have never had any dealings with people who turned out be bad.  I think that would exclude most if not all the current candidates.

I would agree if their is a pattern of someone constantly associating with unscrupulous people then it would be significant, but that certainly is not the case with Obama.
I hate cheerleaders!
If politics doesn't work out for Obama, he'd be great in the World Wrestling Federation. He'll have to bulk up with 'roids, but he's taken drugs before, so it shouldn't be a problem for him.
TO: Kelly (from Pittsburgh)

Obama's link to Rezko is not crap. Do your homework on Saint Obama and stop being a colorblind liberal apologist trying to sweep his past under the rug!

Even the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper which is slightly left of Lenin, ran numerous reports on Obamas crooked dealings. Open your eyes and see Obama for what he is not what you want him to be.
