Oh-eight (R): Huck's strange day

HUCKABEE: The candidate held a press conference to say he was not running a negative ad against Romney and then showed it to reporters anyway. “Reporters asked whether it was hypocritical to pull the ad, then show it to journalists,” The Des Moines Register writes. “‘People want to be cynical about it, they can be cynical about it,’ Huckabee said. ‘If I said we were not going to run an ad ... you'd say, 'Where's the ad?’

”Several placards displayed at the news conference carried the message ‘enough is enough,’ but they also included criticism of Romney, the former Massachusetts governor. One charted how many non-Republican judges Romney had nominated in his home state; another said he approved tax-exempt bonds to construct a building for Planned Parenthood. Huckabee said the decision to withdraw the attack ad was made a short time before the scheduled news conference and people who set up the event did not know of his decision.”

The AP’s Fournier adds, “If he loses Iowa's caucuses, New Year's Eve will forever mark the day Huckabee blew it - the day a crowd stopped laughing with the witty Republican and laughed at him. If he wins - a possibility that even Huckabee now thinks he put at risk - he sealed victory in a weird way Monday."

There is plenty of other coverage of Huckabee’s anti-negative ad press conference from yesterday:
-- Washington Post
-- New York Times
-- First Read

ROMNEY: The New York Times’ David Brooks writes a pretty devastating column about Romney: He says the ex-governor is unelectable in a general election. Romney “has turned himself into the party’s fusion candidate. Some of his rivals are stronger among social conservatives. Others are stronger among security conservatives, but no candidate has a foot in all camps the way Romney does. No candidate offends so few, or is the acceptable choice of so many… And what Romney failed to anticipate is this: In turning himself into an old-fashioned, orthodox Republican, he has made himself unelectable in the fall. When you look inside his numbers, you see tremendous weaknesses.”

The New York Times looks at the tough weeks that Romney's faced. "The past two months, described in a series of interviews with Mr. Romney’s advisers, amounted to a test of Mr. Romney’s ability to adapt to a rapidly changing political situation and harness the corporate culture he prides himself on to keep his candidacy from being damaged or even derailed."

The point of the story may be that this is Romney's true test, and if he somehow gets by Huckabee and wins Iowa, he may just pull this off.

Romney’s second stop of the day yesterday was in Bellevue, IA, NBC/NJ’s Erin McPike reports, and that was the first time he visited Bellevue. There were about 70 people at the location (Potter’s Mill), and one of the waitresses, a Democrat, said she loved John Edwards, but after seeing Romney, she said she was nearly certain she is going to switch her registration to Republican and caucus for him

THOMPSON: The candidate “on Monday posted a 17-minute video offering his final arguments to Iowa voters on why Republicans in the state should support him for president in their precinct caucuses. Thompson told an audience at the Charles City Public Library that the message he wanted to convey in advance of Thursday's caucuses was too long for a television commercial. He has complained that modern presidential campaigns do not allow candidates to give detailed answers.”

So is this guy saying that even Reagan wouldn't be able to be elected nowadays? So for this guy, if you are an orthodox Republican, you don't have a chance of being elected. Does anyone out there really believe the press isn't biased?

If there ever were a time that we needed someone with Mitt's abilities, to unite, to lead, to change things for the better - it is NOW!!!
Mitt Romney Flip Flopping on Abortion watch this!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFMdK0TWtks&feature=related

Do you really want a scum bag like this.
A photograph of GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney at a 1994 Planned Parenthood fund-raiser has surfaced, once again raising questions about the former Bay State’s governor’s abortion flip-flopping.

The picture, a copy of which was obtained by the Herald, shows Romney and his wife Ann at a house party fund-raiser in Scituate with Nicki Nichols Gamble, who was the president of the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts at the time. Romney has already downplayed ties to Planned Parenthood after revelations that Ann Romney donated $150 to the group.

Gamble said the pic was snapped at an event at GOP activist Eleanor Bleakie’s house and that she “clearly” remembered speaking with Romney at the event. At the time, Romney was running as a pro-choice Republican against U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).

“My recollection is that we talked about his senate candidacy and the fact that he was supporting Roe v. Wade and a choice agenda at the time,” Gamble told the Herald. “It was a Planned Parenthood event. We were there to discuss our programs and our advocacy.”

The event was held the same day Ann Romney wrote a check to the pro-choice group. Romney has previously said he had “no recollection” of his wife writing the check to Planned Parenthood.

Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom called the flap “a dog bites man story.”

“Governor Romney used to have a different position on abortion,” Fehrnstrom said. “He is now firmly pro-life and has made it clear that as President he will advocate for a culture that welcomes life and protects the sanctity of life. This is the same path that Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush followed.”

Because of his abortion shift, Romney has been branded a flip-flopper by his GOP primary opponents, as well Democrats. Romney has stated he became pro-life in 2004 during the stem cell debate in Massachusetts.

Beyond attending the event, Romney filled out a 2002 questionnaire for the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund in which he said he supported Roe v. Wade, sex education in schools and increased access to emergency contraception.

“With Mitt Romney, this has been more than a flip-flop. This has been an extreme makeover,” said Planned Parenthood spokesman Angus McQuilken. “What voters need to know about Mitt Romney is this: where he stands on any issue is always a moving target.”

To RJ, all candidates flip (I was against the war before I was for the war).  It all depends on where you land after you flip.  If you flip from right-to-life to pro-choice, that is OK.  If you flip the other way, that is BAD
Mitt Romney is CLEARLY the top candidate in either field... Huckabee doomed himself with his miserable record in Arkansas - and has no one to blame but himself.
Huckabee preaches NO NEGATIVE ads while he goes negative every opportunity he can get!  Hypocrisy won't cut it in the White House.
Mitt Romney is CLEARLY the top candidate in either field... Huckabee doomed himself with his miserable record in Arkansas - and has no one to blame but himself.
Hypocritical lying... Is this what we should expect from ALL Baptist ministers?
So "RJ" is back (again) with his negative message, huh?  You're carrying the devil's own torch with your hatred "RJ" - but your overwhelming ignorance will keep you from ever seeing it in THIS life.

This man's idea of foreign policy is stopping illegal Pakistani aliens from crossing the border....

Duhhhhhhhhh

Flip Flopper Mitt Romney made his millions, with his 'buy-out firm.'

An 'investment firm' goes in and invests to help get a company back on its feet/higher up in the corporate food-chain. 'Buy-out firms,' "if you will"/Romney's newest over-used cliche'/ cripple a company, forcing its stock prices to fall, then buy up the stock until they own controlling interest, just to turn around and sell the company, often to foreign interests, as high as the market allows, creating a hefty profit for themselves at the expense of lost jobs/lost wages for thousands of Americans.

If you buy Romney calling his "buy-out firm" an "investment firm" he has more "Romney-tales" he'll sell you, too. It will only cost you 'America as we know it' for future generations.

Just because Romney can make a buck in the business world does NOT add up to being a leader of government. PLEASE check out Romney's Terrible Record as Massachusetts' governor. If Romney could NOT manage a small state, he sure CAN'T manage 50 states and the MYRIAD urgent PROBLEMS immediately facing the next president.

For those of you who don't know by now, during Romney's 4 years a governor, Massacusetts:

Was the ONLY STATE to post ZERO GAIN in EMPLOYEED RESIDENTS

Was 3RD from the BOTTOM in CREATING NEW JOBS (would've been 2ND from the BOTTOM but Louisiana was destroyed by Katrina)

Massachusetts' median home price ROSE 95% !! (40% for the nation for the same period)

222,000 !! MORE residents moved OUT of the fair state than moved in, during Romney's 4 years--the ONLY thing that kept MA's unemployment rates down.
(Center for Market Studies, Northwestern University, Boston Globe, 07/29/07).

Romney allowed his office to fund:

Gay/Lesbian SEX-ED--WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT OR NOTIFICATION--for Grade School children AS YOUNG AS KINDERGARTEN.
Again, Romney didn't have to fund this, but he did.

'Dances' for CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 12 to 'meet up' with ADULT Gays/Lesbians/Transgenders/Bi-Sexuals.
Romney didn't have to fund these, but he did.

CHILDREN'S gay-pride-type parades where ADULT gays/lesbians... off the streets WERE ALLOWED TO JOIN IN, in full regalia.
Romney didn't have to do this, but he did.

HOW do Romney's business practices make a STRONGER AMERICA for the thousands of Americans who lose their jobs or are forced to take cuts in pay because of Romney's 'forced buy-outs' ??

HOW does Massachusetts' failing record during Romney-years recommend him for BUILDING A STRONGER AMERICAN ECONOMY ??

WHO thinks Romney's funding of 'gay/lesbian children's programs' helped raise FAMILY VALUES for THOSE American families, THOSE American children ??

If Romney canNOT maintain his composure when people just ask him questions regarding the religion HE BROUGHT into his campaign--NOT forthright with American voters in his religious claims (as in other 'Romney-claims'), without becoming hot under the collar, wound tight-ready to leave the room, impatient, rude, a vile name-caller, He SURE WON'T be able to hold up under the BIG-DOG Purposeful insults in the BIG-BOY International Political arena. THEY SURE WON'T care if Romney pouts or turns red in the face. Romney won't be able to hide behind the word 'religion' when he is being hounded and REALLY-persecuted by WORLD-media for Every political AND personal, religious, move he makes/AND the moves of his family--their good, never good enough and their bad, very bad. How often will America have to be embarrassed by Romney swinging his arms around stammering, red-faced, when THE WORLD doesn't see things his way? He WON'T be able vaunt, or to hide behind his RELIGION then, which has served him so well during his campaign. The WORLD won't care about Romney's religion, REGARDLESS the many LDS prophecies about LDS taking over the world.

Mike Huckabee was elected 4 TIMES to serve his state. And he left Arkansas in BETTER shape, for his time served. Instead of a long list of American companies he as shut down or sold out to foreign interests, he (and his wife) have a very long list of serving their community, their state--doing good simply for the sake of doing good.

John McCain also has a very long, very honorable, resume' of service to his country.

Think, America. This is the most important American presidential election in generations. Our next president MUST hit the ground running, able and ready to hold up Under Extreme Pressures on the home-front AND the international stage. We need to choose someone with Exceptional past governmental experience who is Level-Headed, who holds up under fire, who has Proven to NOT be a fickle-fly-by-night-power-monger, whose WORD withstands harsh scrutiny, who has already Proven to put America First. This is NOT Willard Mitt Romney.
