Romney ad, McCain swipe?

From NBC/NJ’s Erin McPike
Still two days away from the Iowa caucuses, Romney today released his closing ad in New Hampshire.

It's an overtly positive message, but it's a veiled swipe at McCain. "No one votes for yesterday. We vote for tomorrow. Every election is about the future," he starts out in the spot.

And the ad carries many of the same lines that he's using in his trimmed down stump speech. One of those is: "In the next 10 years, we'll see more progress, more change than the world has seen in the last 10 centuries."

More details to come on a new ad about to launch in Michigan.

The Criminal Record of Mitt Romney

Arrests and Other Contacts with Law Enforcement
WAYLAND, MASS. (1981) -- ARREST- DISORDERLY CONDUCT.
In June 1981, ROMNEY attempted to launch family motorboat at Cochituate State Park despite park ranger advising that he was prohibited from doing so because his boat did not display proper registration. ROMNEY was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. ROMNEY handcuffed and transported in bathing suit to Natick police station, where released on own recognizance.5 Disposition: Charges were dropped when ROMNEY threatened to sue the state for false arrest; case dismissed at Natick District Court in February 1982. ROMNEY successfully petitioned that the files be sealed.6

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. (c. 1965) -- ARREST- CHARGE NOT KNOWN.
ROMNEY was arrested along with future wife Ann Davies for actions in connection with practical joke at Cranbrook Academy. Reportedly ROMNEY and several friends "bought huge blocks of ice from the local gas station, laid towels over them, and went sliding down the slopes of a nearby golf course."7

HUNTSVILLE, UTAH (2002) -- USE OF PROFANITY WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT
On February 10, 2002, while overseeing 2002 Winter Olympics, ROMNEY became extremely angry upon encountering a traffic jam at a venue and proceeded to berate two persons authorized to direct traffic there, including with obscenity laced tirades, according to a police captain at the scene and a volunteer targeted by ROMNEY. The traffic volunteer Shaun Knopp stated that ROMNEY "asked me who the f___ I was and what the f___ I was doing. We got the Olympics going on we don't need this s___ down here."8 Weber County Sheriff's Office Capt. Terry Shaw, commander of the Snowbasin venue, stated that ROMNEY twice used the F-word while also berating one of his officers, Deputy Kodi Taggart. Capt. Shaw stated that ROMNEY "was abusive" to his officer and advised, unsuccessfully, that "he needs to apologize."9 ROMNEY denied part of the allegation, insisting he hadn't used the F-word since high school -- but admitted he used a word he described as "H-E-double hockey sticks." Disposition: The Utah Department of Safety advised it had decided against initiating a "profanity probe."10

Known Associates
FABIAN, ALAN: Until August 2007, FABIAN was a national finance committee co-chair for ROMNEY. Now under federal indictment for mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury, obstruction of justice and defrauding companies of $32 million in Maryland.11

GARRITY, JAY (a/k/a "Trooper"): Until July 2007, GARRITY provided security and advance for ROMNEY whom he codenamed "LXX"; GARRITY now under investigation in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for impersonating a police officer and other charges.12

HEALEY, KERRY MURPHY (a/k/a "SHERRY" 13): HEALEY recruited by ROMNEY as accomplice for 2002 Governor's race; subsequently relegated to background role.

Additional information
POSSIBLE ANIMAL CRUELTY (1983)
In 1983, ROMNEY transported the family Irish setter, SEAMUS, in a dog carrier strapped to the roof of his Chevrolet station wagon during a 12-hour drive from Boston, Mass. to Lake Huron. No complaint was made or charges filed at time. However, Massachusetts law prohibits carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon."14

POSSIBLE RECKLESS DRIVING (date unknown)
According to a published account, "red lights make [ROMNEY] impatient." Per the report, at a red light at an intersection in Boston, "There was a truck in front of him but no other traffic anywhere in sight... .So [ROMNEY] pulled out around the truck -- to the left of the truck and then right in front of it -- and made a right turn. Then, at the next intersection, where again there was no traffic, he stopped and then went straight on through a red light. And then, suddenly, a policeman appeared out of nowhere.15

ALLEGED BRUSH WITH INTRUDER (c. MID 1960s)
Subject ROMNEY maintains that while a high school student at Cranbrook School in Michigan he encountered an intruder in his dorm: ROMNEY, who says, "I figured I was dead for sure," states he escaped the unknown intruder by jumping out a ground-floor window and running for help.16

To Steve Crawford,

Even if half the bull on your blog is true, it still can't compare to an eighth of the bull on everyone else's record.

Romney is the best candidate, get over it and quit whining and fault finding.

Peace out hater.
Mitt Romney is far and away the most (ONLY) electable Republican next November.
I'm falling off Mike Huckabee's bandwagon.  His naive comment on foreign affairs is the true window to his political soul.  This one nation under God can't afford his ignorance on major issues.
John McCain as recently as 4 months ago vehemetly supported a bill that could've granted amnesty to every illegal immigrant in the U.S. It wasn't until Romney and Tancredo brought it to light to the American people that it was defeated in congress.

McCain didn't change his view until of course he saw his campaign diminish into despair and now he thinks the bill was a bad idea or at least "now isn't the right for time for this bill".

Romney is superior is character and leadership to McCain.
I will vote for Romney next week - for the good of the nation.  He's not the pastor in chief - and he is clearly more intelligent than Huckabee or anger-drive McCain.
Hey "Steve" - did the nation's Baptist Ministers put you up to that evil-filled rant?  Is there actually a place for "hate" in our Evangel group?
Why don't we try voting for the nation's BEST candidate instead of having our pastor's shove THEIR favorite down our throat.  I'm getting sick of this!
Mitt-the worst possible choice for America and Americans.
ANIMAL CRUELTY???  Hey "Steve" - did you happen to read the NEWSWEEK story on how Mike Huckabee's OWN SON tortured animals to death?  Is that what we can expect from a former minister?
Blanket statements of ignorance like that of "Steve A" are precisely why Romney SHOULD be elected.
As an Independent, I rely on Democrat and Republican backers, to dish the dirt on their respective candidates. From what I've read about the Republicans, they have a sufficiently odious bunch of skunks. The Democrats come across as a bit less shady, at least to each other, and their supporters. Still, I wish there was a vigorous Independent Party to shine a serious light on the problems confronting the USA, instead of this internecine warfare that only serves to make them all look unqualified.
In the next ten years we'll see more progress, more change than the world has seen in the last ten centuries.....

Hmm.... can you spell delusional?
Nice try Steve A. Fault Finding only goes so far.
I do like the fact that you did a write trying to protect yourselve by identifying sources. Next time...use proper identification in your footnotes.

You know someone is misleading when they leave out as much of the source as possible. He may not have had the full source or a link...Just leave it out until you can truly qoute and have the source verified. If you have an un-verifiable source then just admit it.

I can come up with dirt on any candidate. What is ludicrous is to bring stuff up that is completely irrelevant.
When you do that...People see it and vote for a different candidate. It back fires.
Every candidate has their appeal. I think Mitt can do a great job and provide things to this country and his people that no other candidate can because of his unique skills.
They are other great candidates as well. Take a look at their track record. See which candidate works for your beliefs and political aspirations. It is that simple.
You vote for what matches your weaknesses and strengths.
Kind of Scary!.
In the end, we have lots of voters to drown out the bogus ones...atleast we hope.
At that point, we the people only have ourselves to blame.
What we need to do is get congress fixed. The President can only do so much. Congress is a major problem.
Some of our judges are a little screwed up. Greedy attornies. Same greed is screwy up our corporate sector. We have over-zealous states as well. We need to balance out this problem. One of the reason cost are soaring for businessess and insurance and many other things.
Can leave with cost going up as long as wages are going up to. There's the problem. Wages in general have gone down for most.
Mitt can help turn around this problem.
The question is can congress get their act togethor.

Still, I wish there was a vigorous Independent Party to shine a serious light on the problems confronting the USA, instead of this internecine warfare that only serves to make them all look unqualified. Steve Turner

I have been wondering if Mayor Bloomberg will in fact form that Independent party, and if he does, would such an independent movement even be viable at this stage in the game? What would the effect of such a move be on the Dem and Rep races?  Would he siphon off enough votes to make a difference?

Thanks for any comments.
Romney will win.  One reason is because he means advertising dollars.  The media will always bring up someone against Romney so that he will have to shell out the dollars for advertising.  Romney out, advertising dollars out.
Steve Crawford - LOL!  The fact that Romney was cited for "ice-blocking," swearing at a cop who pulled him over, arrested in a bathing suit for having a boat not properly registered - that is hilarious!  My one concern with Mitt is that he seems to have no sense of humor.  Apparently I was mistaken.  By the time the primaries get to where I am, he may not be on top anymore, but if this is the best dirt you can dig up on him, he's in no trouble on that front.
romney is just another George W Bush-----Lies,denies and has made his money by gutting companies, laying off workers, selling off the assets and sending the cash to the Caymens for his supporters. It is all about the millions he has spent and will continue to spend until he is booted out.we in Mi are already being courted on every tv and radio channel,by his 2 sided face.
I sure will be glad when this jerk is out of the running! He's about as disgusting as the moron in chief!
JD of Texas says, "Romney is the best candidate, get over it and quit whining and fault finding."

Apparently you missed Romney's astronomically absurd claim: "In the next 10 years, we'll see more progress, more change than the world has seen in the last 10 centuries."

Really?  We'll see more change in the next ten years than in the last 1,000?!  We'll witness greater events than the fall of the British Empire?  The Black Plague?  The Spanish Inquisition?  The Dark Ages?  The birth of the U.S.?  The establishment of the original 13 colonies?  The drafting of the U.S. Constitution?  The settling of the Wild West?  The eradication of small pox?  Putting a man on the moon?  The rise and fall of Communism?  The fall of the Berlin Wall?  The Civil Rights movement?  Roe v. Wade?  The Civil War, World Wars 1 & 2, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the War on Terror?  The creation of the Internet?  And what about personal computers?  Cars?  Mass production?  Nanotechnology?  Vaccines?  Grocery Stores?  Quantum Physics?  The Gutenberg Bible?  The printing press?  The atomic bomb?  Nuclear fission?

Surely you get the point.  To suggest that the next ten years will bring more change than the previous 1,000 is ludicrous on every level.  Mitt Romney is far from the best candidate for anything except the “Dumbest Quote by a Presidential Candidate” award.
HMT-MI can you back up your statements?  Let's get this out in the open: a venture capital business is SUPPOSED to either gut a company and start fresh, or provide loans/funding to get a company back on its feet.  This usually requires layoffs, but the resulting new or re-vamped company is stronger, has a better chance of longevity, and also creates many new (longer lasting, often better paid) jobs.  So its a wash really.  It's not evil or corrupt.  It's business.  Any business school will teach you that.
Romney's religion IS relevant.  He believes in the incredible lies of a charlatan, Joseph Smith.  The Book of Mormon is filled with historical and geographical inaccuracies.  Anyone who believes in that needs to have their intelligence examined.

So, is it any surprise that Romney exaggerates and tells outright lies?

Hey, we have enough of that with the Bush Administration.  Do we need another Liar-in-Chief as POTUS?
McCain's constantly swiping at Romney, calling him a liar for claiming McCain supports amnesty. Well, does he?  Let's ask him!

“McCain Pushes Amnesty, Guest-Worker Program,” reported the Tucson Citizen of May 29, 2003. The senator is quoted as saying: “Amnesty has to be an important part because there are people who have lived in this country for 20, 30 or 40 years, who have raised children here and pay taxes here and are not citizens. That has to be a component of it.” The newspaper also quoted McCain as saying: “I think we can set up a program where amnesty is extended to a certain number of people who are eligible and at the same time make sure that we have some control over people who come in and out of this country.”
