Anyone claiming to be open minded and they make comments attacking someones belief system is a fake.And some of the comments about Baptists and religion in general from self proclaim agnostics or atheists, are pretty telling of the character or lack of posessed by the poster.

Huckabee is real in his beliefs not only in faith, but in what America needs. He also, does not ram his faith down our throats, he seems to be well balanced in the area of religion and government. So the biased attacks by the faithless are in my opinion, unwarranted.

I am mostly libertarian/democrat, but if Ron Paul or Huckabee get the nomination, they will get my vote and support.

Come on people, you're looking for a LEADER. I can level criticism against ANY of these candidates....why are you so FOCUSED on the HUCKSTER?
Does he threaten you somehow? Neither Mitt's nor Mike's "religious" affiliations matter not. What matters is someone who can REPRESENT our country....you can be BUSINESS smart, SOCIAL smart, FISCAL smart, or a little of each or a combination of all. NOBODY is doing all of these things great. Reagan & Clinton were poor of foreign policy initially, but both ended up GREAT for foreign policy in the end. Rash judgement of ANY individual candidate shows your intolerance for them as a HUMAN BEING....and your inability to rationally judge each man on his own merit.

From my own perspective, I have a LOT of respect for many of these candidates; each has his own view and opinion of events as they have seen it.

I enjoy seeing the candidates use their intuition and the resources they have to accomplish their goal of receiving their party nomination. To me, the way in which they run their campaign,  the way in which they respond, and the momentum and excitement each creates says a lot about the individual. RESOURCEFULNESS and strategy tells me A LOT about how smart, how conservative, how honest, and how well they will interact on the world stage......a well rounded candidate will be best for our country. I don't want a man who is just FUNNY; or just BUSINESS SMART; or just great at FOREIGN POLICY, etc.

Huckabee is not the RICH, Washington insider. I do applaud his resourcefulness.....whereas MITT has MILLIONS to throw away on HIMSELF, MIKE has raised nearly every dollar the HARD WAY.....MITT'S supporters are RICH; MIKE's are POOR, MIDDLE-CLASS, or just your average joe. People tend to gravitate toward people like themselves; there are more middle-class people, hence his popularity. Maybe if MITT turns us all into millionaires we'd see things HIS WAY more.....?

So do I assume that everyone posting against the HUCKSTER is a rich, business-man, who own MILLIONS in assets? That is a stereotype, and I would be wrong to think that......and I submit that you folks against HUCK or MITT or (you-fill-in-the-name) for these reasons of slips-of-tongue, an ad that hits you wrong, where someone appears where you think they shouldn't, and otherwise judging based on such things are VERY CLOSED MINDED and wouldn't know a DECENT candidate if they came along.

Mike has been a very successful Governor, whom Arkansas has put faith in FOUR times. They are still behind him for President; Nearly 60% want to see him become President. There are issues, certainly, but have you sought the TRUTH to ALL of them?

So how do I DECIDE from all the CHOICES, even if I don't particularly LIKE politics but feel its my duty as a citizen to have a voice? This is how I did it:

I wanted a candidate who(not in order of importance):
-was prolife (believe in sanctity of life from
birth to death)
-was environmentally aware, but not
too far left that they wouldn't consider
all options on the table for moving toward
energy independence;
-wants to secure the border, build the fence
and hold immigrants accountable
-planned and methodical withdrawal from Iraq
-strong on making military a priority

I went searching for my "perfect" candidate; long before Huckabee's surge, I chose him as my "ideal"
candidate.

As time has marched on, I have looked at other candidates. Mike has made campaign errors...but so has everyone else! Still today, I don't agree with him on EVERYTHING, but he is closest to the things I value as important. The fact that he has been elected 4 times, can speak well, and happens to be a former minister, and a Christian are all nice bonuses for me; but there are equally as many negatives also.

I'm of the mind that people are "judging" based on religion, not merit. On Color, not ability. Christians have always been pointed to as being hypocrits.........but people seem to forget that by human nature, we are all hypocrits and fall short in the way we treat this world and each other. Christians are not perfect, and true Christians know this and share this with others........we are not perfect, we are FORGIVEN.

Have you ever tried to have a conversation with a person of another faith who KNOW they are right and try to CONVERT you? I submit that all you posting negative things and judging the candidates in this manner are thinking you are RIGHT, and no one else should have a different opinion....you sound ANGRY that maybe someone could differ with you.....

Well, calm down and gather your wits.

If you want me to consider YOUR favorite candidate, tell me WHY you like them.....not WHY you disagree with your competition. Otherwise, you sound like a NEGATIVE television ad; tell me why YOUR CHOICE should be PRESIDENT, instead of why MY CHOICE shouldn't be....

I guess with the writer's strike, Huckabee and Leno decided to sit down and memorized that syrupy sweet little dialogue exchange in advance--and then presented it to the rest of us--like a tidy little one-act play.  Too bad Thompson wasn't there to make their acting job look more natural and believable.  You know, make it "look" like it was an actual unscripted conversation about politics.  Sheesh...McCain should re-load and re-launch his "phony" comment at Huckabee.  His "Awe-shucks-my-fellow-Americans-I-just-want-to-continue-to-feign-complete-innocence-while-I-run-soley-on-my-religion-using-an-unconstitutional-religious-test-for-the-office-of-the-President-of-the-United-States" has reached the point that I'm reaching for the vomit bag while watching The Tonight Show.  In November, he was a nice guy at the debates.  Now, he's a feigned-religious-peity schemer.  I would be embarrassed now to call him my pastor...ummm...I mean president...ummmm...or did I mean pastor?? He's made the two terms so synonymous these days, it's tough to remember what he's been called to...I mean running for.

I guess it is better than helping a bad canidate win, but always backing people who have no chance keeps you out of influence. To me it is like watching a few lemmings run toward a cliff yelling follow us; and nobody follows cause it is foolish. Keep running toward the cliff though, I think I saw some Ron paul supporters thinking about it.

How is Huckabee real in his beliefs? Does he feel it is okay to steal furniture from the governor's mansion, to destroy government owned hard drives, to accept money from people for speeches while governor, to set up a gift registry, to ignore the wishes of the victim of a vicious rape so the rapist can go murder and rape again.  To say he is running a positive campaign but to call Romney a liar ( a personal attack not an attack on his record.) To say he didn't know he was crossing a picket line.  To insult the religion of both Romney and Brownback.  To imply that he is better person because Romney has had an incredibly successful business career he is runnig an Edwards like class warfare campaign. A vote for Huckabee is a vote for Obama or Hillary.

Really? Can you prove that? I doubt it. I can point you in the direction that shows you are wrong.(the constitution) No mention of the Bible. No mention of Jebus or a Christ. No mention of an official religion.

Google the word "deist", that is what the majority of the founding fathers were. FACT.

I am right there with ya, brother! I, too, went looking for the perfect candidate long before this whole thing got so heated - before anyone even really talked about Mike Huckabee. I checked out ALL candidates in both parties, as I wanted to be both well informed and responsible in making my decision. I am not one to vote for a party, but rather for a leader. I found that Mike Huckabee stood for the same priorities I feel strongly about.
After doing more research, I was informed that Mike Huckabee was a student of one of the most well-respected, intelligent men I know...I was impressed to know this and was excited to have a personal account of the candidate I already felt strongly about.

Mike Huckabee is not a bigot. He is not self-righteous. He is not trying to force anything down anyone's throat. He is rather, respectful of both his own background as a pastor in a baptist church and the fact that his role as a politician lends itself to a different type of leadership and a different way of thinking. This does not change his own convictions and does not change the fact that he IS a believer and DOES hold strong opinions. It does change his platform, it changes his target audience from one who has come to hear a message from God to one who is looking to him to lead an entire nation of very different peoples in a new direction. Yes, Mike Huckabee does acknowledge that President Bush is our president and is to be respected - he also acknowledges that President Bush is a man who is not perfect and has made some bad calls. Mike Huckabee wants to take the present situation our country is in and focus on both domestic and foreign issues so as to bring us together as one nation and make us stronger both at our heartland and abroad.

To all of the intollerant, closed minded people who look at a man who professes to be a christian and thinks that is a bad thing - your actions show that you feel threatened, as you should. Not by Mike Huckabee or his moral/faith based standards, but by your own lack of standards. You should also know that each of the people who are running for a chance at the presidency also has a moral/faith base - I wish we knew more about each of them. Mike Huckabee is not the only christian in the bunch. Nor is he the only one whose religious/faith based beliefs influence decisions made in public office. We should examine more closely each of the candidates if we are going to choose this issue to take them down!

A&E just ran Jesus Camp again this week.  For everyone who is not a fanatical evangelical, I suggest you watch it.  These people are freaking nuts.  They are also racist and full of themselves.  They are forgetting that vanity is one of the seven deadly sins, and their thinking that they are the only ones saved is going to land them right in he**.

Frankly, if you are so full of religion that you refuse to see the reality of evolution and global warming, but think it is weird when people can't believe that a virgin woman got knocked up and gave birth to the son of God who was able to rise from the dead, there is something wrong with you.  It's the mindset of the dumbest people in the world.  And somehow Republicans not only continue to let them govern, but are encouraging this degredation in itellectual standards!  There can be faith, reality, intellect, morality, love, compassion, and diversity.  They do not exist in opposition to eachother.

Please, anyone but Huckabee.  If he is President, then we can kiss our country good-bye because the rest of the world will attack us considering that we would be looked at as the dumbest people in the world, with a leader that is about as smart as a second grader.  We will be looked at as weak.  

We are the most Blessed Nation in the World, because our God is the Lord .May GOD'S Will be done in this election. Most of the political correctness is against the Word of God. The Word will never change no matter how many laws they pass , like telling women they can have their inborn babies killed. Yes women have a choice but that is to have sex or not.Once a baby is conceived that precious little life has a right to live. Where would you be if your momma decided you weren't the trouble????
