Clinton, Romney lead

Posted: Saturday, January 05, 2008 11:53 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
A 7 News/Suffolk tracking poll released today in New Hampshire shows Clinton with a 36-29 lead over Obama. Obama has gained four points since yesterday and Clinton lost one. Edwards is third at 13 percent, down two points.

On the Republican side, Romney leads McCain 30-26. They have both gained a point since yesterday’s poll. Huckabee slipped two points to 11 percent where he is now tied for third with Giuliani, who gained two points since yesterday.

What about the Rasmussen poll that has Obama up 10 points?
Rasmussen has it Obama 37, Clinton 27, Edwards 16.  And his weighting is unfavorable enough that he showed Obama losing Iowa by 3.

Clinton is in a deep, deep hole.  She could lose by double digits without an exceptional debate performance tonight.
No mention of the Rasmussen poll also released today that shows Obama up a full 10% over Clinton?  As well as Obama being heavily viewed as the most electable candidate?

Just in time for New Hampshire, hillaryclinton.com   .
You guys need to include whether or not the polls include independents. They are going to make the difference in NH and are never polled.
MUST BE A LOT OF MILITARY HATERS, BABY KILLERS, AND ANTI CHRIST PEOPLE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, I KNOW I HAVE SEEN ON O REILLY WHERE THEY DONT HARDLY PUNISH CHILD MOLESTERS.  TOO ME I SEE THAT AS GAY JUDGES AND LARGE POPULATIONS OF GAYS.  THIS WOULD BE GOOD FOR HILLARY.  GO HILLARY
Hillary HAS TO WIN IN NEW HAMPSHIRE !

If Hillary can't win in her 'Fire Wall' state
Where can she win ?

If she can't win in New Hampshire, she's UNELECTABLE !
(and unlovable)

Hillary HAS TO WIN BIG !!

Time for the Clinton machine to 'Put up or shut up'
Look we all know that Hillary will lose because of the knives big media have out for her.  So I will try to do my darndest to defeat Obama in November by getting all of the Clinton supporters to vote Republican in November.  As a Democrat I had to sit by for 6 months and see Russert, Matthews, Scarborough (UNfair), Geist, O'Donnell  and the others at MSNBC excoriate Senator Clinton and hyperanalyze every word that came out of her mouth. No one could have withstood the media onslaught that she had to take.  Then the "change-agent" Saint Barack of the Misty Eyed came along with his line of snake oil and the media fell over backwards for him.  Well, now it's our turn.  Clinton supporters please email me at deblasiogwae@hotmail.com and let's see what we can do to gum up Obama's works as they have been gumming up ours. Be brave, take chances!!
Barack has the MOmentum!! There is so much excitement toward him and his message. Hilary is just mimicking Barack's message and his demographix, now acting like she is the candidate for the younger ppl since so many turned out for Barack in Iowa. I really do not care for her copycat campaign as well as the Rovian tactics they have already started and will undoubtedly hone in on when Barack wins New Hampshire
If Hillary can't hold a 13% lead in her 'Fire Wall' she's 'DEAD MEAT' !!

Hillary HAS TO WIN IN NEW HAMPSHIRE !!

The Democratic party isn't going to nominate a LOSER

Show us what you got, Hillary !
Anything but smears ?

Tell us why we should nominate YOU
Who can you inspire ?
Who can you lead ?
What are your policies ?
How can you fix Washington ?

PS
Sorry about Norman Hsu....
I hear he's going to jail
This poll was taken before and while the Iowa caucuses were going on.

Hillary plummets in New Hampshire in new Rasmussen poll

Obama: 37%
Clinton: 27%
Edwards: 19%
Chi-nese water torture =  drip...drop

Rom-nese voter torture = flip...flop
MSNBC: shame on you for running on your front page the title: "The Comeback Kid: Part II"   That's a joke.  By your own polls, Hillary is leading in New Hampshire and nationally.  Come on.  Stop engaging in lazy journalism.  If Obama wins in NH, he'll be the comeback kid.

BTW, did anyone see the 100 Club dinner last night?  A round of yawns for HRC.  Room-rocking enthusiasm for Obama.

HRC changes tunes more than Mitt Romney.  This weekend, after having lost in Iowa to voters under 44 by 50% to 16%, she's putting young people behind her on the podium and "tailoring" her message to younger voters and Independents.

New Hampshire:  even if you liked Bill, New Hampshire voters (and America) deserves better than to buy into somebody who changes her tune every week depending on which focus group she needs to win.  Come on.  We're smarter than that.
ABOUT TIME.  ROMNEY WILL SHOW HIS STUFF AND PROVE HE IS THE MOST INTELLIGENT AND ABLE CANIDATE OF THEM ALL! HILL NEEDS A BOOST OR SHE WILL BE FIGHTING A NO WIN SITUATION. HUCKABLUSTER SHOULD CONTINUE WITH HIS GUITAR LESSONS AND GO BACK TO PREACHING. GO ROMNEY!!!
Some thoughts about New Hampshire

Obama is hot right now but remember that He and Edwards took the bulk of the third tier candidate vote which was about 15%. That is not going to happen in New Hampshire. Richardson is going to take about 9% to 10% of the vote that would probably go to Obama and Edwards. People tend to vote against Hillary and not for some lesser tier candidate. This has always been a problem for her and is the real obstacle to her campaign.

She really needs to come out swinging in this debate tonight and attack this ridiculous notion of change without substance and the silliness of cutting corporate influence and special interests. A democracy cannot limit the voice of special interests and which special interests are you going to eliminate - Companies that have sales of 100 million? 500 million? a billion? Maybe we should just eliminate GM, Walmart and Microsoft from having lobbyists in Washington. The courts would really have fun with that one.

The fact is that special interests also include Unions, Trade Unions, Bar Associations, Professional Associations, Manufacturing Associations, Service Organizations, Consumer Organizations, Churches and a host of other groups that can point out the benefits and/or disadvantages of pending legislation. This is the american way and the cornerstone of representative democracy. Under the advocacy principle, a legislator sifts all of these arguments including the desires and necessities of his constituents whom he represents and becomes judge and jury to make his final decision.

Is there corruption in this process? Yes, and that should be limited and has been limited over the years, but the vast majority of donors to congressional and presidential candidates give their money and support not to buy votes but because they think that a certain candidate is more aligned with their political, social or economic philosophy. They also give to the opposition at times hoping that perhaps they will soften their position or at least open a door to the candidate or congressman to listen to their arguments.

All of this process is healthy and endemic in our political world and while railing against it may be popular with the hoi polloi it is both impossible, impractical and undesireable to change this system.

As far as change is concerned, all of the democrats are on the same page there. The only difference is that some candidates would speed up the withdrawal from Iraq much faster. Prudence dictates that a slower withdrawal may be more in our national interest.

I am still hoping that Hillary can move up in New Hampshire. Obama has the momentum and that counts for a lot given the short time left to vote in New Hampshire. I am always disillusioned by the american electorate to make the right decision so we shall see.
SO Huckabee gained no momentum in NH after his victory in Iowa? Instead he's slipping in the poll there? I hope so
A voice from a Canadian with dual Cdn/US citizenship.  I love the absolute drama of US politics and yet am terrified as many of my Canadian countrymen are, as we have watched the Bush 'empire' shake its fist at all who don't believe in his bizarre, unsophisticated, neo-conservative foreign affairs actions! Canada sits beside this giant & the actions of its govenment so massively affect our country.

As a voyeur of the US election process, I only see hope for reconcilliation/stabilzation with the rest of the world's countries as being achieved through a democrat who is experienced enough to truly understand the depth of America's folly with its 'allies' and the tragedy of the looming 'doom' it has now cemented with those countries that are its enemies.  Heaven help us all - globally, if the wrong person is elected into the US presidency.
I would like the women in this country to take notice
if yoy would like your daughter or maybe your self to be president of the US one day , Hillary can lead the way. Obama will surley lead the way for african america's So ladies go out and vote for Hillary before
it is to late.
None of the overwhelmingly pro Obama, anti-Clinton rhetoric on Obama's "surge" out of Iowa, has addressed the fact that the 20 per cent Republicans who crossed over to vote for Obama may have done so to assure he is the candidate the Republicans face in the general. Nor have you appeared to consider the fact that race is less an issue in a white state than in the integrated Southern States.
Obama will be weak in the general election because he has no experience and his two years on the National stage have been dominated by his campaign for President and missed votes in the Senate.
Should he be elected, he will be as much an outsider and as ineffective as Jimmy Carter.
I cannot support him because I find him as arrogant as George Bush! He uses "we" instead of "I" beyond that he is as scary!
While the constant barrage of poll results can be titillating, I'd much rather the media outlets focus on what the candidates are saying about what they will do for our country.  My state's primary (albeit compromised by the hubris of state politicians) is on January 15th and I, for one, would love to hear more from the media about the candidate's positions - not their place in the polls.
BRING IT ON ! hillaryclinton.com
ROMNEY, ROMNEY, ROMNEY!!!! for 2008!! We believe in you Mitt Romney!
The Hill-Billy gang has embarassed America for long enough.
Grampa Bill lost his shine.

Hillary is so ready to lead,  we are so ready NOT to
follow.
after what she said about iowans last night, i doubt that they will be likely to support hillary in a general election. hillary words weren't nice at all towards iowans. i wonder how the voters from iowa feel about hillary now?

also, the polling that has been doesn't reflect polling after iowa win or placement finishes.

i have been watching chuck todd onthe news since obama won iowa. i don't think he likes obama at all. he has not had anything positive to say. he has been negative about obama and edwards consistently. i really respect him, but seeing this i have begun to question chris's credibility in the same way i question chris matthews. these guys can't be unbiased.

chris hates hillary and it seems as though chuck dislikes obama and edwards. i guess it balances out at msnbc.

The Whates (White Homosexual And Liberal Elites) will be wearing grean scarves protesting the war and supporting Hillary.

The youth has woke up and abandon Hillary the Clinton's are just not sincere.
GO HILLARY
David Anders Pharr ,Tx. (Sent Saturday, January 05, 2008 12:06 PM)

David, Hillary has got more money from millitary people. If you are a dumbass, there is no easier way to prove it than you. She has been hawkish because of her military connections via Senate committees.
I support HILLARY CLINTON 100%........WHY?

VERY  SIMPLE..........

HILLARY is experienced and she is ready to do the Presidential duties on day one.

HILLARY is well educated and she will get the job done.

HILLARY is a very hard worker and she will work for America and work for change.

HILLARY will do great things for America - she is commited.

HILLARY is AMERICA'S CHANGE MACHINE and
HILLARY is ready to get the Wheels of Change for America and all as President.

HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT AND AMERICA.

------------------------------------

On the other hand, I have read a number of articles about Obama ----- it just doesn't get it.  Obama has very nice white teeth, a huge big smile, and a very young child like boy face with impression of air bubbles flying around, etc.......it just doesn't get it.
I have also heard on a radio station some talk about there is lots of information about Obama that has never been told that was going to be presented. I don't know what information that was...but in time I am sure it will be told.

I hope that the talks take a more serious turn. Today, America has very serious issues that can't be addressed with by distant talk about change and having a dream, etc. America deserves more than on-the-job training by a person that can develop a group march, have a dream, and air type things of the like.

Hope the people in NH present question after question to Edwards, Obama, and Clinton as well.  America has serious isses that is happening each second of every day.  America deserves that...America deserves a President that can get the job done and not one that will need on the job training by lots of other people.

-----------------------

If America was ready to VOTE today--wonder what would happen......take a look:
Edwards vs GOP.     The GOP will WIN.
Obama vs GOP.       The GOP will WIN.
Clinton vs GOP.     Clinton will WIN.

HILLARY CLINTON IS THE ONLY THAT WILL BE ABLE TO STAND UP AGAINST THE POWERFUL GOP.  When the GOP truly gets ready for the vote day for President...the very powerful GOP will run over Obama and Edwards.  Hillary Clinton will be the only one that can STAND UP TO THE GOP.....HILLARY CLINTON DOES NOT NEED ON THE JOB TRAINING....HILLARY WILL SERVE AMERICA WELL.

VOTE - HILLARY CLINTON - SHE IS EXPERIENCED AND DOES NOT NEED ON THE JOB TAINING.

AMERICA DESERVES HILLARY CLINTON - she is experienced and will get the job done.

HILLARY CLINTON WILL BE ABLE TO STAND UP AGAINST THE POWERFUL GOP.....OTHERWISE THE GOP WINS.
Romney got some bounce to back to the top, he will be a President that is Morman not a Mormon President.

Hillary would of been a Moron President.

Hillary and Rudy are out of it.
Let us all praise NH for thinking with their brains unlike a previous state!! Huckabee doesn't have a chance in New Hampshire because people there can think straight.

What is it with Chuck Norris following Huckabee around all the time. The Huckster doesn't have any welcoming political positions or a conservative record to run his campaign on so he has to hide from this record by trying to win people over by bringing "Walker Texas Ranger" with him?? Is Norris going to follow him to foreign countries to talk with Heads of State and Foreign dignataries if Huckabee is elected POTUS? I mean COME ON, Let's get real People! It's a good thing New Hampshire and the rest of the country will think with their heads when they go to the polls instead of getting caught up in this circus act called the Huckabee campaign.
Ace,

No one is as opinionated as Chris Matthews. If you like him, then I dont think we need to have a discussion.

Regarding Chuck, he did say one correct thing. Obama supporters are cocky and mock other candidates. I participated in a caucus. All precint captain made their case about their candidate and said one line of praise for other candidates. Obama captain mocked Clinton and Edwards and told Biden and Richardson to do as have been decided because they are going to win anyway.

So much for hope and hatred. It's a simmering undercurrent, you will feel it soon when it reaches ur state.
I meant the WHALES not WHATES (White Homosexuals and Liberal Elites.
I am tired of these possers acting like Global warming and the Iraq war protesters etc.
They really want gay marriage and to teach Gay is normal in School.

Most gays are actually 55 yr old bald guys that can't women anymore and turn to each other, they would perfer younger recruits oh experiment its normal everybodies doing it.

Hillary supports will be determined though.
The rest of the university crowds seem to have woke up to really what supporters are all about, yuck.
Hillary has fallen and can't get up.
The Clintons were sincere enough to lead this country to the greatest period of peace and prosperity the country has ever known.  What has Saint Barack ever done except open his big mouth and proclaim how great he is? That ego could sink the Titanic. He's the one who thinks he's ineveitable.  He's the one who thinks he's all that plus 3 bags of chips. Join me in supporting ANY Repub in the fall.
Hillary has fallen and can't get up.
Mitt Romney,

Or should I say Flip Flopper Romney!

Mitt Romney's  Flip Flop Record

ABORTION

From the Left:

Romney ran against Senator Edward M. Kennedy in 1994. During a debate, Romney declared: "I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it."
- Boston Globe, March 2, 2006

"I respect and will protect a woman's right to choose."
-2002 Questionnaire for the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL)
Boston Globe, July 3, 2005

From the Right:

"I am pro-life. I believe that abortion is the wrong choice except in cases of incest, rape, and to save the life of the mother. I wish the people of America agreed, and that the laws of our nation could reflect that view. But while the nation remains so divided over abortion, I believe that the states, through the democratic process, should determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate."
- Boston Globe, Op-Ed, July 26, 2005

More from the Right:

"Every decision I have made as Governor in a very liberal state has been on the side of favoring life." – Governor Romney

STEM CELL RESEARCH

From the Left:

"Romney has decided to support experimentation on surplus frozen embryos from in-vitro fertilization procedures."
- National Review Online, February 11, 2005

"At a campaign appearance at Brandeis University in June 2002, Romney strongly endorsed stem cell research."
- Boston Globe, December 17, 2006  Read the article

From the Center:

"Governor Mitt Romney set off a storm of criticism yesterday after he declared in a published interview that he favored banning a specific type of stem cell research. Scientists and the leader of the state Senate accused him of trying to block a promising avenue of research, even as antiabortion groups assailed him for declaring that he did not object to stem cell research involving embryos from fertility clinics."
- Boston Globe, February 11, 2005  Read the article

From the Right:

"I studied the issue for many months, and entered into conversation with experts from across the nation who were looking for consensus solutions, like Stanford's Dr. William Hurlbut.  In the end, I became persuaded that the stem-cell debate was grounded in a false premise, and that the way through it was around it: by the use of scientific techniques that could produce the equivalent of embryonic stem cells but without cloning, creating, harming, or destroying developing human lives."
- Governor Mitt Romney, Op-Ed, "A Stem-Cell Solution," National Review Online, June 15, 2007

EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION

From the Left:

"When he ran for governor in 2002, Romney said he supported expanding access to the emergency contraception pill, a high dose of hormones that women can take to prevent pregnancy up to five days after sex . . . On a questionnaire Planned Parenthood gave to the gubernatorial candidates in 2002, Romney answered 'yes' to the question, 'Do you support efforts to increase access to emergency contraception?' "
- Boston Globe, July 7, 2005

From the Right:

"Yesterday I vetoed a bill that the Legislature forwarded to my desk. Though described by its sponsors as a measure relating to contraception, there is more to it than that. The bill does not involve only the prevention of conception: The drug it authorizes would also terminate life after conception."
- Governor Mitt Romney, Op-Ed, "Why I Vetoed The Contraception Bill," Boston Globe, July 26, 2005  Read the article

GAY RIGHTS

From the Left:

"All citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of their sexual orientation. While he does not support gay marriage, Mitt Romney believes domestic partnership status should be recognized in a way that includes the potential for health benefits and rights of survivorship."
- Romney's 2002 campaign website

"Mitt and Kerry Wish You a Great Pride Weekend! All citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of their sexual preference"
- A flier handed out at "Gay Pride" by the Romney/Healey Campaign  See the flier here

"We have discussed a number of important issues such as the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which I have agreed to co-sponsor, and if possible broaden to include housing and credit, and a bill to create a federal panel to find ways to reduce gay and lesbian youth suicide, which I also support. One issue I want to clarify concerns [grammar in context] President Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue" military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation's military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share…"
- Governor Romney letter to Log Cabin Republicans, October 6, 1994  Read the letter here

From the Right:

Lopez: "And what about the 1994 letter to the Log Cabin Republicans where you indicated you would support the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) and seemed open to changing the "don't ask, don't tell" policy in the military? Are those your positions today?

Gov. Romney: "No. I don't see the need for new or special legislation. My experience over the past several years as governor has convinced me that ENDA would be an overly broad law that would open a litigation floodgate and unfairly penalize employers at the hands of activist judges...As for military policy and the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy, I trust the counsel of those in uniform who have set these policies over a dozen years ago. I agree with President Bush's decision to maintain this policy and I would do the same."

MARRIAGE AMENDMENT

From the Left:

In 2002, before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court declared same-sex marriage protected by the Constitution, Romney denounced as "too extreme" the effort by pro-family groups to enact a preemptive state Marriage Protection Amendment prohibiting homosexual marriage, civil unions and same-sex public employee benefits.
- Boston Phoenix, May 14-20, 2004

From the Right:

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough: "Do you support a national constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage?"

Governor Romney: "Boy, I sure do. You know, that's a topic that's really, I think, very important to the country because marriage is not just about adults. Marriage is about the development and nurturing of kids, and in my view, the development of a child is enhanced by having a mom and dad. And so, I think it's very important that we have a national standard because marriage is a status. You get married in one place and then you move to another, you're still married at least in the eyes of the community and the children and the benefits may not follow you, but ultimately we're going to have one standard of marriage in this country and that standard ought to be one man and one woman."
- MSNBC's "Morning Joe" September 17, 2007

GUN RIGHTS

From the Left:

"He [Romney] is a supporter of the federal assault weapons ban."
- Romney 2002 campaign website

More from the Left:

In his 1994 US Senate run, Romney backed two gun-control measures strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups: the Brady Bill, which imposed a five-day waiting period on gun sales, and a ban on certain assault weapons.

"That's not going to make me the hero of the NRA," Romney told the Boston Herald in 1994.

At another campaign stop that year, he told reporters: "I don't line up with the NRA."
- Boston Globe, January 14, 2007  Read the article

From the Right:

"Americans should have the right to own and possess firearms as guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution," said Governor Romney. "I'm proud to be among the many decent, law-abiding men and women who safely use firearms."
- Governor Romney, News Release, January 12, 2007

WAITING PERIODS FOR GUNS

From the Left:

Regarding the Brady Bill which required waiting periods to buy a handgun, Romney stated, "I don't think [the waiting period] will have a massive effect on crime but I think it will have a positive effect."
- Boston Herald, August 1, 1994

From the Right:

"Romney says he still backs the ban on assault weapons, but he won't say whether he stands by the Brady Bill.  And after the gun show tour, his campaign declined to say whether he would still describe himself as a supporter of tough gun laws."
- Boston Globe, January 14, 2007  Read the article

MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE

From the Left:

"The minimum wage is important to our economy and Mitt Romney supports minimum wage increase, at least in line with inflation."
- Romney 2002 campaign website

From the Right:

Governor Mitt Romney yesterday rejected the Legislature's plan to raise the state minimum wage to $8 an hour over two years, angering Democratic lawmakers and advocates who accused him of abandoning a 2002 campaign pledge to significantly boost the pay of low-wage workers.

IMMIGRATION

From the Left:

In a November 2005 interview with the Boston Globe, Romney described immigration proposals by McCain and others as "quite different" from amnesty, because they required illegal immigrants to register with the government, work for years, pay taxes, not take public benefits, and pay a fine before applying for citizenship.

"That's very different than amnesty, where you literally say, 'OK, everybody here gets to stay,' " Romney said in the interview. "It's saying you could work your way into becoming a legal resident of the country by working here without taking benefits and then applying and then paying a fine."

Romney did not specifically endorse McCain's bill, saying he had not yet formulated a full position on immigration. But he did speak approvingly of efforts by McCain and Bush to solve the nation's immigration crisis, calling them "reasonable proposals."

Romney also said in the interview that it was not "practical or economic for the country" to deport the estimated 12 million immigrants living in the US illegally. "These people contribute in many cases to our economy and to our society," he said. "In some cases, they do not. But that's a whole group we're going to have to determine how to deal with."
- Boston Globe, March 16, 2007  Read the article

From the Right:

In his appeals to conservative voters, Romney has made the Arizona senator's work on immigration one of his favorite targets. When McCain and other senators unveiled the latest reform bill two weeks ago, Romney called it the "wrong approach" and immediately launched a television ad slamming "amnesty" for illegal immigrants.
- Boston Globe, June 1, 2007  Read the article

TAXES

From the Left:

"Governor Romney…imposed a slew of fee hikes and tax 'loophole' closures….The largest of these was $259 million worth of fee hikes in FY 2004, the bulk of which came from higher Registry of Deeds fees.  Smaller fee hikes, including higher charges for boaters and golfers, we imposed in FY 2003 and FY 2005.  Romney also sought $128 million worth of so-called tax loophole closures for FY 2004; $70 million for FY 2005; and $170 million for FY 2006, which were later reduced to $85 million due to backlash from business leaders."
- Club for Growth's White Paper on Mitt Romney

"Romney continues to oppose the flat tax with harsh language, calling the tax 'unfair.'"
- Club for Growth's White Paper on Mitt Romney

Romney didn't support President Bush's tax cuts in 2003.  That earned him praise from liberal Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA)
- Boston Globe, April 11, 2003.

From the Right:

"I said no to a tax hike; raising taxes hurts working people and scares away jobs. I also said no to more borrowing; borrowing just shifts our problems to the backs of our kids...Instead, I went after waste, inefficiency, duplication, and patronage."
- Governor Romney, Boston Globe, October 24, 2005

NO NEW TAXES PLEDGE

From the Left:

In 2002, Romney broke with his predecessor, Jane Swift, and Republican governors before her by declining to sign a written vow not to raise taxes once in office.

- Boston Globe, January 5, 2007  Read the article

From the Right:

Almost five years after he refused to sign a "no new taxes" pledge during his campaign for governor, Mitt Romney announced yesterday that he had done just that, as his campaign for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination began in earnest.
- Boston Globe, January 5, 2007  Read the article

CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAWS

From the Left:

Governor Romney has changed his position on key campaign finance reform issues several times during public life. During his 1994 Senate campaign, he held far left positions that advocated for abolishing PACs and creating strict campaign spending limits.

- Club for Growth's White Paper on Mitt Romney

From the Right:

As he runs for President, Romney abandoned his previous stance and has come out as a harsh critic of McCain-Feingold, and those presidential candidates who support it. His transformation has even propelled him to call for the legislation's repeal.

From the Right:

Despite the governor's pledge of no new taxes, his proposal does increase some taxes and fees: The administration says it can collect an additional $70 million by "closing loopholes" in corporate and sales tax rules (Scott Greenberger, “Massachusetts Governor Sets $22.98 Billion Budget Blueprint”, Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News, 1/29/2004)

“…business groups objected so strongly to a proposed $170 million tax increase that Romney snuffed the idea and proposed $85 million instead.” (Alexander Bolton, “Romney’s Tax Record Gets A Closer Look,”  The Hill, 3/27/2007)

Governor Romney even raised taxes on some New Hampshire residents who worked in Massachusetts, taxing their income and their pensions.  Learn more

Let the candidates speak for themselves. If they get caught in the bathroom soliciting sex from a underage person we need to know.
However, to spin every micro move of the election by needless blab about what they should or shouldn't do, what they should say or shouldn't say, what it means, how old they look; and you do it for pay? What an outrage!
To talk about the private lives of Britney Spears, Paris and the rest of the young and who cares when you don't want to talk about anything real, is stupid, but we can turn that mess off. They do not effect the election.
The place for them is Show Biz Tonight, you should join them there; and let us think for ourselves.
The spin wins, and Chris  may get his wish. Anyone but Hillary, eh Matthews?
This guy Loves to Raise Taxes

Governor Romney…imposed a slew of fee hikes and tax 'loophole' closures….The largest of these was $259 million worth of fee hikes in FY 2004, the bulk of which came from higher Registry of Deeds fees.

Mitt Romney on taking away Gun Rights!

I thought Obama supporters didn't believe in polls.  That's what they have been saying for months and months as polls showed Hillary with a large lead.

BTW - All you Obama supporters touting Rasmussen's NH poll may want to take a look at Rasmuseen's national poll which STILL has Hillary with a double digit lead Woo-Hoo!!

Hope your boy is on his game tonight for the ABC debate - given his less than stellar record from past debates, I'd be worried.  Seems he has a bit of a problem when he actually has to answer questions!

Hillary, of course, will be poised, polished and perfect - as she has been in debates past!
Obama talks about unifying the country. How is he unifying the country when his supporters are full of hatred? Look at any blog site and response from Obama supporters. They spew hatred.

I even looked at the caucus in Iowa. Most Obama supporters were arrogant, cocky (Chuck Todd mentioned it too, though Matthews tried to stop him from saying that), and full of hatred.

Is that unifying? God help America if misinformed cult followers take over.
New Hampshire independents will go for John McCain in enough numbers that will give Clinton an advantage. Also, I hear that a significant number will be voting for Clinton who do not want an African American as president. My source tells me that large amounts of right wingers will be voting for Clinton as they are more frightened by an Obama presidency than a Clinton one. Also, my source tells me that FOX news will begin to use Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton as political commentators (both are for Obama) in order to begin the republican strategy of linking Obama with polarizing African American political figures. This is the start of the GOP strategy to scare of middle of the road democrats and independents from voting for BO. You would have had to be an idiot not to see this coming. Bye Bye Obama.
SIMON FROM IOWA   YOU ARE NUTS  MILITARY GENERALS LIKE BEAUTREAUS AS KOS AND HILLARY NAMED HIM, HAS HINTED HE AND OTHERS WOULD RETIRE IF ANY DEMO WON.  AND SOLDIRES SAID THEY WOULD NOT RE ENLIST   YOU GONNA GO FIGHT SIMON, OR DO YOU ADMIRE GUYS THAT ASSUALT YOUNG GIRLS WITH A CIGAR  GET A LIFE
Regarding Chuck, he did say one correct thing.

Well, simon, in a story from another Iowa caucus location, just the Opposite was said. A 37 year old woman went in as barack supporter, her husband for someone else. When his choice became clear for him, they did'nt have enough votes, he looked around to see who he may begin to support. The Barack crowd was who He choose as they were the Only bunch that was'nt talking negative about the other's. So much for your lame Excuse, we all know who Dives in the Mud Puddle.
