Facebook chooses Paul, so far

Posted: Saturday, January 05, 2008 8:49 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Andy Merten
As far as Facebook users are concerned, Huckabee pulled ahead of McCain since the last time we reported this poll:

Giuliani  5%
Thompson 4%
Huckabee  22%
McCain  15%
Romney  11%
Paul  43%

About 5,500 responded.

Oh come on!!! Ron Pual won the online poll, if you feel that the poll was 'spammed' then do not use it.  I for one have donated and will be voting for Ron Paul, and old Media needs to get over themselves.  This Huckabee won crap needs to stop NOW!
The idiot masses are being programmed that Ron Paul supporters "spam" the polls so that when they steal the election they can claim all of the polls were incorrect and irrelevant.
in reference to Paul "spammers" accusations, there is no way that this poll could be spammed. You are allowed one vote per user id. Just because there is a higher concentration of Ron Paul fans on social networks then there are in the general public does not mean there are spammers. I suppose the several thousand unique online donors to Paul's campaign were just spamming as well.
MSNBC is a disgrace. "Facebook chooses Huckabee" when Ron Paul is winning by a margin of more than 20 percent? For shame, MSNBC.
What happened to "reporting the news"? Doesn't the misleading headline create an ethical or moral concern for anyone?
Facebook chose Ron Paul, learn how to count MSNBC.
By completely ignoring that Paul received almost double the votes of Huckabee, the candidate that you claimed Facebook has "chosen", you look stupid.
This is great.  When primaries have Paul leading, will that be due to "spammers" as well?
disgrace
Jeeezz even my 4 year old knows 43% is greater than 22%. She could probably draw a pie chart for those that dont understand the numbers. Quit screwing with the numbers and report the TRUTH!
MSM-NBC, If you hate Ron Paul and his supporters so much, why don't you just explain why.
Wow, the Corporate Media Spin machine is in high gear still! Ron Paul won this poll and many others like it yet the mainstream media can't accept that he is a viable candidate. Sad really.
As far as Domenico Montanaro is concerned, he's a comedian.
Ron Paul won the young vote and yes that matters to us, the future. So get OUR opinions right! Don't mislead people to thinking we agree with the older crowd because we do not! We are the most athiest and inquisitive generation yet. We do not just believe what we are told, we actually look up the facts and alternatives ourselves and have educated opinions not forced ones.
People who use Facebook, or the Internet for that matter, are usually higher educated and wealthier than the average Joe. So claiming that online polls aren't "realistic" is a vague statement since we're dealing with a different set of people with different demographics.
I really hope this is just a mistake. Where is Keith Olberman when you need him? He would be perfect to straighten this out.
>It's because the media has learned that past several >weeks that Paul supporters spam every online poll in >organized fashion.  They have learned that his "votes" >are not even close to reality.
>
>Tom D. Indianapolis

How does one "spam" polls? What is your definition of "spam"? If someone has a large following and they participate in voting, does that mean they are "spamming"?

1) Dr. Paul is obviously ahead by nearly TWICE the rate of who the author would prefer us to believe was ahead.

2) Which poll? Without referencing which poll you are referring to, how do we know this wasn't completely fabricated - though it was take a real moron to fabricate results then lie about their own fabrication. So which poll is it?
facebook chose ron paul you idots.
"It's because the media has learned that past several weeks that Paul supporters spam every online poll in organized fashion.  They have learned that his "votes" are not even close to reality." - Tom D Indianapolis

Todays Nevada Republican Assembly straw poll in Reno: 100 votes cast. Ron Paul received 36 votes. The next highest was McCain with 13. You're hacker/spam theory is holding less water by the day.
Haha it hilarious how far people go to try and debunk Ron Pauls popularity. Spammers you say? Are the hundreds and thousands of people who show up to hear Ron Paul speak spammers?

People want to hear what Dr. Paul has to say but the mainstream media doesnt like that, so they resort to doing little things like this to try and brush him off. Can't Americans think for themselves without having to be "guided" by the media? Can't people vote for who THEY feel is right and not who the mainstream media thinks is right?

C'mon America, wake up. Start thinking for yourselves...

We have entered an alternate universe where 22% > 43%. George Orwell was right: up is down, right is left, peace is war. All hail Big Brother! Protect us from the boogeyman. We are your sheep....
Ron Paul's numbers higher than Huckabee's, these were the results shown on Facebook, so Facebook lied. Right to our faces. And even if the numbers were "SPAMMED", how would some idiot poster then come to a conclusion that Huckabee was the winner if anyone could start "spamming"???

The question should be- Why does Facebook make such a huge deal about promoting this debate poll and lie about Ron Paul's winning results?

I think that Facebook just omitted any hope of them becoming a "trustworthy news source" if they can't even read their own polls correctly.
here,i fixed it for you:
It's because the media has STATED that past several weeks that Paul supporters spam every online poll in organized fashion.  They have INSINUATED WITHOUT PROOF that his "votes" are not even close to reality.
Does MSNBC have some sort of mental illness because clearly Ron Paul won that vote...So Far.
This is just awful. Can the Old Media give any more blatant orders to their lackeys on how to ignore Ron Paul? Facking hell, the guy gets 43% and you title it "Facebook chooses Huckabee"? WTF is wrong with you people, get a clue and REPORT REALITY PLEASE.

Thank you.
Wow, Ron Paul supporters have got to fight at EVERY turn... Can MSNBC not count? Ron Paul won that poll. Why do you list him LAST as well, it's not alphabetical order. I'm really starting to get angry now....... Give him a fair and equal shot...............
I made another poll here:
http://picvault.org/2008-choose-your-candidate

Let's see what diggers think
I'm sorry, I made a mistake. This was NBC Staff that can't read polls.

Domenico Montanaro and Andy Merten should be ashamed of themselves for trying to control our Presidential Election through the use of Disinformation and Deceptive Tactics.

You think it's a BIG JOKE to lie and fool people. You think you are invincible and aren't angering hundreds and losing the respect of thousands when you destroy our democracy using childish lie tactics against Dr Ron Paul.

In case this isn't posted, I hope whoever reads the postings understand that you're working under some very bad people. People that you wouldn't want to trust or hold in any regard for human decency.
NEWS FLASH, MSNBC: 43 is larger than 22.
NEWS FLASH, MSNBC: 43 is larger than 22.
This is a joke right? These people aren't really journalists, like, for real - are they?
Ron Paul won plain and simple. Is there nothing about "journalistic integrity" anymore We are already boycotting fox news and they hit a 52 week low on the stock market.... I can only boycott so many places at a time.... please fix your headline.
Facebook may represent a younger demographic, but it also represents a more informed demographic. Think about it - who is going to have more varied and less biased information, those who go to the Internet for their news or those who go to the 5 or so main news television channels? I don't mean to encourage ageism, but the younger generation knows what's best for this country, and is not as easily susceptible to false claims by unworthy candidates...
Start training your monkeys to count, msnbc.
Fail.
Ummm.  I think someone forgot to take their pills today or took to many. (Hint: Ron Paul 43%)
I think someone is trying to rewrite the rules of math here. Last I heard, 43 (Paul) is *more* than 22 (Huckabee). Is this an error? Or does MSNBC has an agenda?
HELLO ? RON PAUL IS AHEAD. Who's the idiot who wrote that headline? Mike Huckabee!?
MSNBC, please fix this misleading headline. Huckabee is not the chosen one...

And the polls are not being spammed, it's called support. If you didn't know, Ron Paul is pretty big on this thing called the internets, where he raised over six million dollars in one day. He doesn't need spammers to win anything, so drop the tired excuse.
MSNBC needs to go back to grade school and learn their numbers.
Ron Paul: 43%

a.k.a. WINNER!!
If you're going to talk about Facebook "choosing" one of the candidates, then you cannot discount Ron Paul on account of grass roots organized online support. If you're going to dismiss it because of that, forget about even citing Facebook, digg, YouTube, or Myspace, and stick to Straw Polls. Oh, snap! Ron Paul has won more of those than any other Republican as well. Gee, let's take a look at his popularity with the military then. Oh snap! (again!) Ron Paul got more donations from military personnel than any other candidate. Who the heck do you think you're kidding? Facebook chooses Ron Paul. Shame on MSNBC! Where is your journalistic integrity?
MSNBC, you cannot see that Ron Paul won over BOTH Huckabee AND McCain? Yet you don't mention anything about that, do you?
This makes no sense, look who has the highest percentage. Who wrote this, an intern?
Change the name of the title, you swines!
Let`s vote here and see what people want. Not what we know from the media. Vote here who you want to be president http://presidentofamerica.blogspot.com/
LOLLLLLLL wow nice try at pulling the fast one here MSN, reeaally nice, learn to count you tools.
MSNBC, are you trying to make yourself ever more irrelevant than you already are?  Even those who hate Ron Paul, must wonder about your journalistic morals and standards?  The journalist who wrote this should be ashamed.  The boss who told the journalist to write it this way, should be IGNORED!
The only poll that matters: individual donors.  Gee, Ron Paul wins that too.  Go figure.
I don't care what happens anymore, I'm sick of the media being so blatantly idiotic in their news reports. If you ask me, the media is just tyring to get a rise out of people for fun these days.

Well let me be the first to tell you that you got what you wanted.

Goodbye cruel world.
