Hand it to Ron Paul supporters

Posted: Sunday, January 06, 2008 9:36 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
There really was no justification for eliminating Ron Paul from this debate, given his poll standing in New Hampshire and total money raised. They have a strong argument that he was eliminated because he doesn't hold the Republican line on foreign policy. And you have to hand it to his supporters for figuring out where even Fox's focus group was going to be. They certainly made a statement, marching outside with Ron Paul signs, including one that called Fox "unfair." Paul won't likely win the New Hampshire primary, but he deserved a seat at the table, as did Richardson and he last night. And it's why the Republican Party of New Hampshire pulled out as a sponsor of tonight's debate/forum.

Here is a copy of an email I sent to FOX. I urge EVERYONE to do the same and let THEM know OUT voice will be heard!!!!!!                            EXCERPT: "I have been an avid supporter and viewer of you station. But, this is changing. Your network is neither fair nor balanced. Your network is the same elitist crowd American's are tired of. Everyone in your network is self absorbed greedy elitist. Does anyone there NOT have a book to sell? You speak of fair and balanced, a voice against the so called left. Yet, most of your "hosts" use their airtime to promote their "books" and THEIR ideology when they should be reporting NEWS!!!!!!  I have been watching the presidential races and it seems your in the same rhetoric boat as the rest of the LEFT wing networks, in bed and promoting only CERTAIN candidates. Now you boast and brag about your upcoming debates. Hmm.. where are candidates such as Ron Paul???? According to MANY polls he is in double digits. Using the same methods as you, Ron Paul is neck and neck with Huklebee ahead of Guiliani and a few others. I have watched certain "hosts" laugh and make fun of Ron Paul. Sat evening on one of your shows a question was asked to a guest, who would you hire to fix the current economic situation? The guest answered " Ron Paul". The host gasped and she replied, " Oh no, dont go there" Hmmmm... The guest is a regular on Fox and Fox's business channel. I guess the guy didnt get your memo about your staunch stance against Ron Paul. It shows. And America is watching...... As far as my demographics? Republican, single, 42, college education, 6 figure income. Americans WANT change. Just not the change that the Dems or Elitist Republicans want. We dont want NAFTA, The NAU (North American Union), outsourced jobs, or MORE immigration! We also want ALL the illegal ALIENS deported and the border secured and LOCKED! We're tired of the Illegals stealing citizenships, stealing GOV. dollars and ruining our country. We DONT need them, never have, never will and we DONT want them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So there, smart people, (Dems, Repubs, Ind's) ARE voting for Ron Paul. When your network and its staff shuns and makes fun of Ron Paul and his ideas, your making fun of the majority of the american citizens... . Signed, A U.S. citizen - Oklahoma
Hmmmmm. Instant Karma!
You wrote: "They have a strong argument that he was eliminated because he doesn't hold the Republican line on foreign policy."

Ron Paul's views WERE the Republican line as recently as the year 2000.  George W. Bush ran on a policy of "no nation building" and was highly critical of the Clinton administrations forays into Somalia and Kosovo.

Richard Nixon was elected in 1968 to get us out of a war, as was Ike in 1952.  In the last 8 years, the republican party line has gone to one of propagating pre-emptive wars for the benefit of large corporations.

The result has been a dollar that is tanking due to costs of this war, less civil liberties here at home and consumer prices that are skyrocketing.

Remember when gas was $1.25 a gallon;  You know, like just a few years ago?  Now we are paying for a war to protect corporate oil's interests while being raped at the pumps, all while getting the cheery news that Exxon made another 38 billion dollars last QUARTER.

Ron Paul is the only one running upholding the Republican line. Perhaps this is why the corporate propagandists at Fox exclude him.
Marcus Aurelius, the great Roman Emperor from 161-180 AD wrote in his book "Meditations" that "The noblest kind of retribution is not to become like your enemy."  FOX News is trying to silence the truth just like other media outlets...we cannot let ourselves be silenced...the WEB will not suffice...we need to take it to Washington and march peacefully in large numbers...not thousands...but millions...then they will know we mean business!  Let's do it on this July 4th...ALL PATRIOTS MARCH!
Oh, and btw.  If you want some "expose" journalism, you might look into Murdoch's campaign contributions.  He gave his money to Hillary Clinton.  Yes, the owner of the biggest right wing, war-mongering news broadcast actually wants Hillary Clinton as the next president.

Perhaps that is why Fox is pushing Huckabee, a man with more "swift-boatable" skeleton's in his closet so hard.  Maybe he's afraid Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate running who can take on Clinton and win.
I like FOX news, it makes up for CNN and NPR. Some may not think it's fair but the libs have control of enough media to find balance. As for Ron Paul, I think he should have been allowed at the debate, but he is not a serious candidate. I think even if he does not stand a chance of winning he would make the debate interesting and would drive some points the others would rather avoid. The same is true of Biden, Dodd and Kucinich for democrats.
Oh! Come on.  Paul isn't going anywhere.  He's a nut and the time for nuts is over.  We have to get down to selecting a president now.  No fan of FOX here, but it's about time someone stood up to him.
Fox News is the very antithesis of everything America stands for.  They are aiding the terrorists in achieving their objectives by silencing anyone not willing to consider abandoning the Constitution in the name of security.  I have some strong things to say about Fox News, but I want my comment posted, so I'll keep it mild.  MSNBC has been fair and balanced by comparison.  Praise to the NH GOP.  At least they still value the freedoms our troops are giving their lives to protect.  McCain especially made a mistake by even showing up to such a forum.  I otherwise respect him, even if I think his strategy is four years too late.
I found that luntz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   HaHaHaHaHa  It was sweeeeeeeeet.  I have always hated that room full of their 20 people that they say represents the people more than their own free internet polls.  When ever saw him in there I couldn't have been more thrilled than have the opportunity to march the real people by the window.  Did you see the "Fox News is Unfair.  Also, Hannity ran from the restaurant to the hotel room as he was pelted with snowballs!!!  There was so many people there, I can assure you there was no less than 1,000.
What? No space on the bus? Reminds me of another bus ride in Montgomery when they tried to deny Rosa Parks a seat on the bus. Fox's heavyhanded tactics are an insult to American voters and seem very reminescient of the tactics employed against the good people by the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham! Another issue that should be addressed is not one of the other candidates even protested Fox's obvious event to influence the election by pretending that the people's candidate did not even exist! I have no respect for those so called men of honor. Pray tell, if there be honor amongst them, where was it Sunday night! They should have refused to a man not to participate in a tainted event. We see now how far  the powers that be will go to refuse Americans the right choose one of our own!
When Reverend Huckabee attacked Mr. Romney's faith, Dr. Paul quickly spoke in Romney's defense, saying, "The recent attacks and insinuations, both direct and subtle, that Gov. Romney may be less fit to serve as president of our United States because of his faith fly in the face of everything America stands for. Gov. Romney should be judged fairly, on his record and his character, not on the church he attends." It is disappointing that Mr. Romney did not rise to the occasion and speak for Dr. Paul's rights at the Fox debacle. When the only man with the decency to defend his competitors' constitutional rights is excluded from the political arena, it is indeed a sad day in America.
Fox News not actually being fair and balanced?  To paraphrase a line from the classic film Casablanca I am, "Shocked! Shocked, I say!"
SHAME on you fox news. unfair and unbalanced !
A poll was taken in the great state of New Hampshire this evening after thousands of complaints were received about, of all things, why is Ron Paul omited by Fox news?

The poll was far more simple, Rate Fox News on a scale of 10!

The results are in! .4 is the grand total. Even this was chalanged by the3 Governor of New Hampshire , stating there is no way any thing over a .2 could exist.
Bad move on Fox's part, but I think Ron Paul got more mileage from being excluded.
Fox news proved what many already knew, they are a propaganda organization. News is not what they spew.
Entertainment is the word to use for Fox. They lost more viewers than they realize yet. Somehow I think it will show up at the stock market. LOL
Too funny.  All the people who bash Fox for being biased to the conservative side ( this is true ) are blind apparently to the fact that all the other major players are equally biased to the liberal side.  You have to watch about 50% Fox and 50% CNN or MSNBC to have anything remotely resembling a middle ground of accuracy.  There is no major news source that does not have a political agenda and corresponding slant in reporting/programming.
Yeah, you firstread bloggers are fair and balanced, too. Marginalize, marginalize, marginalize. That's the agenda for Ron Paul.

Or, completely ignore he's there... http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/01/06/554799.aspx
Fox news:  "We distort, we decide."

Bettrice
The media (including NBC) avoid Dr. Paul because they don't like him.  I guess we'll just have to make it happen without the biased reporters.
,unfair and unbalance; that's what you are.Your news is not worth watching
Dear Honorable Chairman Martin & Staff;

Many in this Country (and across the world) are outraged by the fact that Fox News did not allow Congressman Ron Paul to participate in the New Hampshire Presidential Debate aired Sunday, January 6, 2008.

This is a clear case of censorship on the part of Fox News and should not go unnoticed or without admonishment.

Americans place tremendous confidence in the Federal Communications Commission to insure our freedoms and rights are protected, and especially those freedoms that directly involve information and news.  Fox News Network has historically trampled on those rights many times, but never so blatant as this incident.

It may be deemed that Fox News is in direct violation of the intent of the Communications Act; wherein Fox News has represented themselves as a trusted, unbiased news agency and by failing to act in such a manner has subsequently endangered the safety and property of United States Citizens.

Your attention in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Hey voice...your correct that they have the right to do it and they did...but that does not mean Ron Paul doesn't have the right to complain about it.  The point of a free market system is that if you do something like this the market will punish you.  which I would not be surprised if Fox's ratings dropped for the next few weeks compared to other news channels.
C'mon MSNBC, you need to call out Fox on this. They are obviously leaving Ron Paul out because he is not online with their fear-mongering agenda. If it were the other way around, a Democratic candidate that was for the war left out of the Democratic debate, this would be front page news for FOX. It amazes me that there are people that actually believe their "Fair and Balanced" motto. These 25 percenters need to wake up. The only reason I watch the Repub debates are for a good laugh and to watch Ron Paul own those political fools. KEITH, where are you?
hmmm, i'm sorry i missed it, but then again, i purposely didn't bother...it was FOX News.  Ron Paul gained some respect from me by not being there, although we know it was more of a non-invite, still his supporters said  tons about him by showing the kind of support they did. They too gained a ton of respect from me.  Warrants a second look from me
erm, if you think MSNBC is SOOOO much better than Faux News, take a look at (in this section) 'Facebook Chooses Huckabee, so far' note which actually has, and I quote,

Giuliani  5%
Thompson 4%
Huckabee  22%
McCain  15%
Romney  11%
Paul  43%

Who owns fox? What are Ron Pauls views on free trade? I wonder what fox was really thinking. Ron Paul is the only candidate who puts American Citizens ahead of their own self promoting interest and global greed.
We are going into only the 2nd primary/caucus and already the media is eliminating prospective candidates for no reason.  I personally would like to hear more from Ron Paul, Kucinich and Edwards.  They should all be receiving equal press attention until we get to the point that the primaries are over, unless they choose to withdraw.  It IS time for a change, but the media eliminates the REAL change candidates.   Not good for the candidates nor for the country.
FOX NEWS IS SHOWING ABSURD PREDIJUICE TO RON PAUL, AND MIKE HUCKABEE, WHO AS AN INDEPENDENT COULD WIN, OREILLY SCREAMS AT LAURA INGRAM AND JUAN WILLIAMS WHEN THEY SAID HUCKABEES GOT A CHANCE, AND HE LAUGHS AT RON PAUL   EVERY ONE GET A BOYCOTT OF HIS ADVERTISERS   YOU RON PAUL GUYS ARE GREAT ON INTERNET, PUT AN IMUS ON HIM
Ron Paul Money Bomb. Jan 21st. Martin Luther King Day. Spread the word and Donate. Look it up.
FOX NEWS IS SHOWING ABSURD PREDIJUICE TO RON PAUL, AND MIKE HUCKABEE, WHO AS AN INDEPENDENT COULD WIN, OREILLY SCREAMS AT LAURA INGRAM AND JUAN WILLIAMS WHEN THEY SAID HUCKABEES GOT A CHANCE, AND HE LAUGHS AT RON PAUL   EVERY ONE GET A BOYCOTT OF HIS ADVERTISERS   YOU RON PAUL GUYS ARE GREAT ON INTERNET, PUT AN IMUS ON HIM
Fixed news, My sister and I watch the sunday Faux news show to laugh at their one-sided take on everything, this just goes to show that they are a comedy of errors, unable to be fair or balanced.
They couldn't even have the other party as part of the process and this shows how they are not interested in an open forum for politics. Go dems!
Fox News is an oxymoron.
If Ron Paul "doesn't hold the Republican line on foreign policy" then neither does Ronald Reagan or George Bush in 2000 and Taft and Goldwater. These neocons like McCain are the ones not holding the traditional Republican line on anything. When did the Republican party become so brainwashed. Baaa you're all a bunch of sheep.
I work in industry with Root Cause Analysis to find the real reason a problem occurs. Most industries patch the problem, start up and fail again.

This is what the candidates offer.  Only Ron Paul offers leveraged solutions to stop a problem and avoid many other related problems in the future.  Solve the root cause and stop adding expensive quick fixes to our government.

The next time the candidates say Social Security is going broke and we must raise taxes and avoid payments, ask them why the have spent the surplus for years.  Still do, still will.  Raise Social Security taxes and they will spend it too.

Ron Paul offered a bill to stop this.  Please ask the rest if they did while in congress.
I'm not a Ron Paul fan at all but this is unfair.

And I'm not surprised. FOX is tabloid television. It's doesn't represent any kind of commitment to journalistic objectivity.

But like I've said before when it comes to FOX "what do you expect from a pig but a grunt"

News flash!  FOX News unfair!  Geez -- where you people been, under a rock for the last 10 years?
mrv wrote "The point of a free market system is that if you do something like this the market will punish you.  which I would not be surprised if Fox's ratings dropped for the next few weeks compared to other news channels."

I don't think they will; too many morons watch it.
Fox News has demonstrated that it is the very antithesis of everything America stands for.  Our troops are giving their lives overseas to defend Democracy and Fox News is working to undermine that very Democracy.  Shame on them.  I have seriously considered McCain as a reasonable choice if we are staying in Iraq, but his presence at that debate gives me pause.  I don't expect much of Guiliani, but McCain should know better.
This war people. Let's keep hitting Fox witheverything we got. Their stock is dropping. Lets hit thme and the rest of the media with thier biased message.
First off let me say that I run my own company, so I’m on a computer most of the day.  Second I live eat breath and shit Ron Paul because I am a veteran that had to go to war and watch people suffer and die for most of the time I was there.  That article was proven bull shit; I need to ask my brother where the counter article is.  Media put that out to smear his name and it is by no way true.  Watch a little movie called in pot we trust and you will see that my man Ron is about one of the few politicians that doesn’t allow lobbyist to fill his pockets with the worthless dollar.  In fact he is probably the only one of the candidates (besides Gravel and Kucinich) that has any truth to his campaign.  Trust me the first time I heard about that article I was up for about three days calling around trying to find out the sources of this article.  It turned out that the sources never existed! Not to Minchin my fingers hurt from searching about it for days.  Hillary, Obama, Edwards, and most of the other candidates have never served in the military, so why would you trust someone that could take us to war if they never even served a day in there life?  Bush for instance was in the air national guard!   The fact that he never even went blows my mind that he even took us to war!  Me I was an 11b did a good amount of time in the war zone… I was trained to kill people! I am only in my 20’s!  This election means more to me than my own life.  So when I say that I feel that Dr. Ron Paul is the only hope for what is going on in this country right now I mean it.  I would have died for every thing we stand for in this country given the chance, but thank god I never got shot and killed.  I had many close calls but again thank god!  Don’t just like a man for what he is saying (Obama) or a person because you want to see what it would be like if they had a chance ( Clinton)  Vote for someone because they work for us (Paul)  You can bash my man all you want just understand the cultural movement that Ron has created and get with us man because this is what are future needs!!!!!!
I wish Fox News could face criminal prosecution for trying to influence the election as they have. At the very least they should be driven out of business.
