Mitt feeling good

From NBC's Ron Allen
Romney is feeling pretty good about his performance at last night's candidate forum. Unlike the night before, he seemed to be more in control and kept the upper hand against his rivals. And they, perhaps leary of some negative reaction to the sarcastic comments from the previous debate, refrained from going after Romney.

When asked about getting piled on, Romney using a football metaphor said everyone plays tougher against the Patriots, his home team that's undefeated. He said he's a target because his strength, especially here, is blocking the path to the nomination.

Today Romney is still pounding away at McCain, and the theme that Washington needs to be changed by an outsider. Romney often says, you can't get new results by sending the same people to sit in different chairs.

Romney also is arguing that he matches up better against Obama than McCain would. The way Romney sees it, Obama would do to another US senator what he's doing to Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Romney also tried to focus attention on his win in Wyoming over the weekend, giving him a first- and second-place finish there and in Iowa. He says that even if he comes in second to McCain in New Hampshire, that still gives him three pretty good finishes with Michigan, where his father was a three-term governor, coming up. Win or lose here, Romney has the money, organization and belief he can still win going forward.

Senator McCain appears to me to be a rather mean person. Sarcastic, petty and mean. His constant smile is deceiving.
To add my two cents to this article, it's interesting to see the break-down of those who support each of the Democratic front-runners.  Obama seems to be preferred by independents, and it'll be interesting to see how women will choose between him and Hillary.  Check http://www.projectweightloss.com/ for an interesting and somewhat unusual survey of the characteristics of each of the Democratic candidates' supporters.
You know, we all talk about Reagan in these elevated terms because he brought conservative change, but I think people forget how he did it. He had great ideas based on conservative principles that inspired Democrats to come to his support. That is what Mitt Romney brings, that's what his healthcare plan was all about. Ted Kennedy did support Romney's plan, but not because of some bipartisan concession, but because it was a great idea that fixed a major problem. The gridlock in Washington is not due to a lack of bipartisanship, it's due to a lack of great ideas. Obama's lofty rhetoric, Edwards' fighting spirit, Huckabee's populist appeals, and McCain's constant concessions to liberal philosophy won't change Washington. Only the great ideas of a Romney administration will inspire the nation to come together to support conservative solutions. More is at stake here than just the parties or the candidates. If you want solutions, vote for someone who has been proven to come up with solutions, not someone who promises them (including Clinton, whose changes have more been attemps than accomplishments). Change is coming whether we like it or not, but if you want positive change, vote for Mitt Romney.
MAN!!! Do you sound bought and paid for by Romney!!!
Get real. Romney was the same ol' Narcissis he always is. He couldn'nt even follow the rules of debate: the "moderator" is the moderator.
WHY is NOTHING is being said about Wyoming having a Large LDS-MORMON population, who was shown in polls to be heavily ROMNEY SUPPORTERS????????????????????

Watch out America. The news media are plainly biased toward the mega-bucks paid out to media by Romney.

REPORTERS, PLEASE GET BUSY AND REPORT
Mitt didn't just win the debate yesterday, he blew them away. I find it funny the McCain and Huckabee's "Parents" (aka Campaign Managers) had to tell them to stop personally attacking Mitt after the debate on Saturday to try to save face. It doesn't take a genious to realize the difference between someone that wants to talk about issues and someone that wants to try to "take down" their opponent with 3rd grade personal attacks.

All three showed their true colors over the last 2 debates and Mitt shined in both debates while McCain and Huckabee showed us how childish they both really are.
"Romney often says, you can't get new results by sending the same people to sit in different chairs."

So why would we want another uber-rich, draft dodging CEO who puts profits before people?
Mitt you like playing football but what side are you on the Flip or the Flopper side!

Mitt Romney Flip Flopping on Abortion watch this!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFMdK0TWtks&feature=related

Do you really want a scum bag like this.
A photograph of GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney at a 1994 Planned Parenthood fund-raiser has surfaced, once again raising questions about the former Bay State’s governor’s abortion flip-flopping.

The picture, a copy of which was obtained by the Herald, shows Romney and his wife Ann at a house party fund-raiser in Scituate with Nicki Nichols Gamble, who was the president of the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts at the time. Romney has already downplayed ties to Planned Parenthood after revelations that Ann Romney donated $150 to the group.

Gamble said the pic was snapped at an event at GOP activist Eleanor Bleakie’s house and that she “clearly” remembered speaking with Romney at the event. At the time, Romney was running as a pro-choice Republican against U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).

“My recollection is that we talked about his senate candidacy and the fact that he was supporting Roe v. Wade and a choice agenda at the time,” Gamble told the Herald. “It was a Planned Parenthood event. We were there to discuss our programs and our advocacy.”

The event was held the same day Ann Romney wrote a check to the pro-choice group. Romney has previously said he had “no recollection” of his wife writing the check to Planned Parenthood.

Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom called the flap “a dog bites man story.”

“Governor Romney used to have a different position on abortion,” Fehrnstrom said. “He is now firmly pro-life and has made it clear that as President he will advocate for a culture that welcomes life and protects the sanctity of life. This is the same path that Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush followed.”

Because of his abortion shift, Romney has been branded a flip-flopper by his GOP primary opponents, as well Democrats. Romney has stated he became pro-life in 2004 during the stem cell debate in Massachusetts.

Beyond attending the event, Romney filled out a 2002 questionnaire for the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund in which he said he supported Roe v. Wade, sex education in schools and increased access to emergency contraception.

“With Mitt Romney, this has been more than a flip-flop. This has been an extreme makeover,” said Planned Parenthood spokesman Angus McQuilken. “What voters need to know about Mitt Romney is this: where he stands on any issue is always a moving target.”

My god man.  You treat this "forum" like it's credible without all candidates there to express their platform and qualifications.  Your just as guilty of Fox News bias, if not worse, for not bringing your readers attention to the fact an eligible candidate was excluded (censored, banned, you choose).  There you go again with the ignoring. Please
The media are missing the story here because they are all looking at eachother, like fish all swiming in the same direction. Romney is not out by any count regardless of New Hampshire.  He is still better organized and better funded and will likely have the most votes of anyone after three states.  The media loves McCain and wants Romney out, but McCain is out of step with a big portion of the republican party, not all republican primaries let independents vote like NH.  A McCain nomination for the Republicans would be like Bob Dole v. Bill Clinton on 1996.  The past versus the future, old versus new. RIP GOP.
It's funny, how most of the MSM keeps trying to write Romney out of the race, even though he's currently second in the delegate count and has one of the best organizations, not to mention he's the most qualified GOP candidate across the board--best able to right the economy, get us energy independent, and win the War on Terror.  This Floridian's voting for Romney come Jan. 29th.  Go Mitt!
MCCAIN VS. HUCKABEE it looks like now it is just the two as Republicans we need to unite and pick between John McCain and Mike Huckabee and let us advance one of the two and get a Republican into office.

Why does the media keep portraying Romney as on his last leg? Where else can Huckabee or McCain beat him? Iowa and New Hampshire are perfect constituencies for the two of them. They are hardly representative. Mitt will go the distance and he may well win.
hey rommney   wooooooooooooooo  piggggggggggggg soooooooooooey   that's hucks team
Romney is the only candidate with true executive leadership and a proven record for change and turning around difficult situations. He shows maturity far beyond that of Yuckabee and McCain. He is successful not only in business, Olympics, and as Governor but also in his family life. That says a whole lot about the man. He's the only real contender in all these states. He's been the one to beat in each state.   Even the Democrats are afraid of him----he's the only one they're afraid of. McCain is not only too old but he simply does not have the leadership capabilities. His anger issues are scary. Romney is solid all the way around.

McCain = War
McCain wants more war, we have two wars.

McCain is dangerous he is all about the military.  He has no balance, more troops, more troops.

Mitt Romneys plan of a balanced approached of deplomacy, flexing economic muscles, engaging the region.

Hillary pull the troops and leave Iraq to Iran to control the worlds oil with nuclear weapons is just as crazy, Mitt have the right balance.
I agree McCain just wants more war.  We do not need a President that looks for wars.

The Iraq conflict is winding down, we don't need McCain over their starting a third war.

Peace buddy
Romney SHOULD feel good about it...  He survived nasty attacks from McCain and Huckabee quite nicely - and made them look like the "unpresidential" candidates that they are.
totally agree, Romney did great last night, took them on big time, especially after they all ganged up on him the night before which I think made them look bad, we all know the driveby media want mccain to win, after last night it is quite evident ROMNEY is going to be great in any debate against the democrats especially hillary. and all you media and press and anchors, ROMNEY's ads are not attack ads, they are showing the differences between he and the other candidates and also showing their records, everything he quotes is what has been reported on in a newspaper, and by the way what is wrong with someone who has made money throughout his career and is able to afford ads and pay his way through this campaign, its not his fault huckabee does not have it.
I loved in the Debates over the weekend how McCain tried to distance himself from his Immigration reform bill that failed due to the American people calling it a disgrace.  Remember that is still McCains postition.  He has so much ego, that he still thinks that positions is correct.  One thing that did get through his ego, was that he needed to build the fence first, although now we have 12 million illegals netted here and he will not make them go to the back of the line to get legal status, just pay 5k, say hi instead of hola and your a legal U.S citizen...Amazing!  If McCain wins New Hampshire, we are threatened with the growing problem of immigration over the future.  Clearly Romney has the position of getting immigration under control.  It is simple, put up the fence, and send the illegals to the back of the line, what other choice should there be.  We dont let people cut in line at the lunch, why should we let them cut in line over people at the immigration offices.  People from other countries need to know that we have rules, laws and will enforce them.  If they are illegal here, not citizens, why should obey a law that they are not tied to in any way except previous breakage of it.  Go Romney, you won me over last night.

Six polls out this morning and Romney is not that far behind in some of them, and Rasmussen shows that McCain is bleeding support among independents. Full roundup of all the polls: http://www.campaigndiaries.com/2008/01/rounding-up-new-hampshire-polls-6.html
I am not a Mitt supporter, but he won last night. Meanwhile, McCain lost me with his Saturday cranky old man act.

Meanwhile, Fred is a tall glass of truth out there.
Drug Test all the Candidates. None of them should 'Feel Good'. Not with this Country in the state it's in.
MITT FEELING GOOD, HE MUST HAVE VISITED SOME OF HIS WIVES LAST NIGHT, MAYBE HE CAN GET A JOB ACTING ON BIG LOVE WHEN HE DROPS OUT.
I felt Mitt Romney was superior in last night's forum.
I hadn't made up my mind which candidate I was most
likely to vote for.  I think Romney for President and Rudy G. for Vice-President would make a strong republican ticket.
Romney's a slick talker and probably did good in the debate.
... I see there are those that still see Mitt as a religious threat.  Please look at his record.  He does not have two wives.  Been married for over 38 years to his high school sweetheart.  How many can say that in todays prospects?
Another thing, don't hate him for being rich!  Anyone of us would want the same things for ourselves and our children!  And how many of us would actually take our fourtunes and place them in public office???
Look, he's admitted that he was worng on some issues.  How many canidates are reeling back in defense of their own misguided egotistical, I don't want to admit I was wrong? Mit's a stand up guy!
Give him a chance... He did great last night in comparison to the old, just feelings and too much baggage.
Just about every HONEST person will tell you Mitt Romney won the debate last night - AND is by far the most qualified...

As long as we're being honest - admit that all of you against Romney are religious bigots - and are likely being TOLD by your "pastor" NOT to vote for him.

Further honesty - you don't really KNOW substance in your own religion, OR the LDS Church - you are simply being told what to do by "pastors" who get PAID by you!

ergo... you can't think for yourselves - and want a president like Huckabee of McCain to do it for you.

Kind of pathetic, isn't it?
I'll bet Romney regrets not being able to blacklist his opponents out of existence like he does employees like all businessmen do.

Amen, Bruce!
Romney won the debate - so why isn't he #1 in the polls?

As a Catholic church-goer I only HOPE its not because of intolerance fostered by supposedly "Christian" Evangels.

The ramifications of having Romney NOT win and Obama or Hillary in the White House would produce enormous social problems for this "one nation under God"...
(Abortion included)

Wise up Americans against Mitt...
(Here's a shocker - Your pastor may not be telling you the truth!  They get PAID to keep you devilishly against Mitt!)

I don't have to be in their church - but I LOVE LDS people.

God Bless America!
(ALL of America)
Could the media finally be coming off of thier Obama love struck high...just a little bit? Following are some DIRECT QUOTES from Howard Fineman of News Week circulating on the web (of course both Newsweek and Fineman has been big Obama cheerleaders).

“Obama isn’t quite the outsider and systematic change agent that he claims to be. Yes he is an African-American who now calls the South Side of Chicago home – and that will always make him an outsider to some extent. In many other ways, however, he is just a new wave of what Bill and Hillary were years ago – an on-the-make, Ivy League-educated, Democratic lawyer eager to seize power in Washington.”

“The Clintonistas held a conference call yesterday to point out some relevant things: that Obama’s New Hampshire co-chair was a drug-company lobbyist; that the senator had vehemently opposed the Iraq war but then voted repeatedly to fund it; that he had said he wanted to scrap the Patriot Act and start over, but then voted for it. As I listened to the conference call, I couldn’t for the life of me understand why the Clinton folks didn’t highlight these and other items much earlier.”

“Edwards and Obama gangup…They did it here in New Hampshire at the ABC debate. Hillary got angry. She had reason to be. She had a right to respond aggressively to both of them. Edwards’ patients’ bill of rights never did pass; Obama indeed has talked out of both sides of his Cheshire-cat-grin mouth from time to time.”

Mitt Romney made fun of John Edward's repeated assertion that there are "two America's". I guess it's not surprising that a guy worth 200 million dismisses that notion as "baloney" and that means that a guy worth 200 million shouldn't be president.

Bishop Mitt Romney did a lot better at the last debate.  Didn't convince me to vote for him.  At this point, only Hillary could do that.

I watched the Luntz segment last night and have to wonder ... is "independent" a NH code word for "sheep"?  The focus group participants seemed gullible at best.
Am I the only one that caught Romney's defense of the drug companies during the debates????
Why do so many of you care so much about how much money Romney has?  He earned it, so he should be able to spend it however he chooses... by the way, he did not collect salary from the olympics or as Massachusetts governor.  He has already said he would forgo his salary as president.  Hmm, an actual servant of the people- what an idea.  So, if he wants to spend his own money on his campaign, more power to him.

Regarding the debates, Romney dominated last night and Huckabee lost big time.  Huck blew it in the first 5 minutes with his refusal to answer the self evident question about taxes.  He did the same thing on Hannity and Colmes when the debate was over.  Anybody watching it could see that he didn't want to answer it because Romney was right.

McCain looked like a different person from Saturday.  Yesterday he was mellow and friendly- if I hadn't seen his outrageously childish behavior on Saturday, I might have actually liked him.  Saturday he acted like a 2nd grader. I can only assume that his staff advised him that his name calling and interrupting was a turn off to mature voters.

I hope Romney wins NH, but even if he comes in a relatively close 2nd, he'll be fine.

Here's to hoping that Obama dominates the independent votes- giving Romney a better chance!
Why isn't Romney touting the health insurance plan that he started in Mass.?  Is it because it is the closest thing that anyone has gotten here in the U.S. to socialized health care?  I don't think most conservatives would like that.
Mormons are a Cult!

Mormons belive that when Christ died on the cross that it was not enough. And that you had to have Blood Atonement, I belive this comes from the Pitt of Hell!

Brigham Young Blood Atonement Sermon:
Journal of Discourses
Vol. 4, p. 215-221

and suppose that he is overtaken in a gross fault, that he has committed a sin that he knows will deprive him of that exaltation which he desires, and that he cannot attain to it without the shedding of his blood, and also knows that by having his blood shed he will atone for that sin, and be saved and exalted with the Gods, is there a man or woman in this house but what would say, "shed my blood that I may be saved and exalted with the Gods?"
WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE?

John McCain has been in DC for 25 long years. He is a big part of the Washington grid-lock problem. He is aging like a fossil at 71 years old. He has ridden his war hero status for a long time with small results in Congress. Military leadership can hardly translated to excellence in real life management, because you only has one acceptable way to respond to your seniors which is "YES SIR!” How can any one believe he can revitalize the country? He should be getting ready to pack up his office and move to Florida for his retirement.

Reagan changed party and he worked out fine. Pro-life, pro-choice is not the most important issue facing this country. I don’t give a darn if he is a Mormon or a Jew. We need someone to win back the leading role in the world economy. Romney has the records of success to show for. He is a proven winner in both the private and public sectors. You need a successful economy to create jobs.
To: Robert Jorgenson, Utah

Oh please...get a clue, or at least a life so you don't have to bash religions. Are we voting for a president or a paster?

Anyone can twist any religion, and it looks like that is what you are trying to do.
Re: Robert Jorgenson, Utah “rote “Mormons are a cult.”

I’ve seen this same B.S. writing of yours all throughout MSN’s “First Read” but you’ve put different names or symbols as your signature to hide the dishonesty of your agenda. You are not only a bigoted ignorant fool, but a hiding dishonest parasite. You use “First Read” to spread your bigotry founded on fiction, to smear a faith that has done nothing but good around the world, and a man who offers to serve without pay. He worked to make his place in life, why don’t you try it!

I have participated in many elections and I must say, this one really scares me. Why? Because I have seen how easily many of the American people are manipulated by “Professional Politicians” and the media. The “Pro” politicians throw out the bull and spins and the media tells you what to think about it. When you make a major expenditure do you just listen to the salesman and sign the contract, or do you read the contract and demand they fill in the blanks? People get your info from the horse’s mouth and in print!

I am independent and read just about everything significant to the candidate’s positions (they’re more careful about what they write) and several have some good ideas in some areas, not in others. Some have strengths in some areas but clearly not in others. The only candidate, whose policies, solutions, background, intellect, character and backbone are exceptional, is Mitt Romney. I’ve checked the reliable sources and Romney has actually changed his opinion on two subjects, that’s it, and there was very good reasons for one, the other I understand his reasons; I may have done it differently. But it’s a naïve fool that thinks you can get to the top of any political position without at least acknowledging all peoples viewpoints.

And as far as Romney’s “negative campaign,” who the heck do you think threw the first mud! It was Huckabee, the “Christian” mocking another person’s religion. The others jumped on the band wagon. I read the King James Version of the Bible and from what I’ve read, I don’t think Jesus would be too happy with Huckabee’s behavior. Maybe if Huckabee’s elected, and if people don’t believe exactly the way he does he could shackle people in wood stocks in town square. Hey, maybe he can even start the “Salem Witch Trials” again and burn them at the stake!

McCain is a good man but his strong point is in one area. I agree he would be an outstanding Secretary of State. Romney is the guy that can put it all together, and can beat the democrats in November. If you’re Independent or Republican you better vote now for the guy that can beat the Dem’s . Can you really say “President Obama”? Have you looked at his history and platforms! Be smart people!

R.J. I can't believe you are still trying to peddle that bogus anti-Mormon info as a reason not to vote for Mitt. Your methods have improved with the shortening of the post though. I used to scroll past but now they are short enough to read for a laugh. When you mature you should post some actual political views. Of course if you mature you will post in favor of Mitt.
By the way, for those of you wondering, only about 11% of Wyoming is LDS- the same percent as in Nevada and Arizona.
