MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Giuliani's event today has been moved due to a "security issue," campaign officials said, but did not release details.
Giuliani was scheduled to deliver a tax policy speech at 2:45 pm at Harris Corporate Headquarters. The event was moved to a nearby airport hangar, and campaign officials said the cause was a "security issue." Campaign officials said they will release more information at a later point.
There is a large police presence at the hangar. Media is being asked to preset for a security screening, and officials from the Transportation Security Administration are on site preparing for screening. This has not occurred at any previous Giuliani event.
*** UPDATE *** WNBC's Jonathan Dienst adds, Florida law enforcement official tells NBC News that the "security issues" that caused the Guiliani campaign to move an event earlier today in Melbourne was a threat that was non credible and non specific. The decision to move the event was purely precautionary.
"It was non-credible and not specifically directed at any one person," said the official.
The threat was described as "something like a bomb threat."
