'Security issue' at Giuliani event

Posted: Wednesday, January 09, 2008 3:22 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC/NJ's Matthew E. Berger
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Giuliani's event today has been moved due to a "security issue," campaign officials said, but did not release details.

Giuliani was scheduled to deliver a tax policy speech at 2:45 pm at Harris Corporate Headquarters. The event was moved to a nearby airport hangar, and campaign officials said the cause was a "security issue." Campaign officials said they will release more information at a later point.

There is a large police presence at the hangar. Media is being asked to preset for a security screening, and officials from the Transportation Security Administration are on site preparing for screening. This has not occurred at any previous Giuliani event.

*** UPDATE *** WNBC's Jonathan Dienst adds, Florida law enforcement official tells NBC News that the "security issues" that caused the Guiliani campaign to move an event earlier today in Melbourne was a threat that was non credible and non specific. The decision to move the event was purely precautionary.

"It was non-credible and not specifically directed at any one person," said the official.

The threat was described as "something like a bomb threat."

I guess anything for headlines at this point for Rudy.
Only way Rudi gets the nomination is if the primary is held on September 11th.
So the "Security" Mayor couldn't lock down an appearance at a security and defense contractor's facility?  Nice...
This could be better then the cell phone call from his wife at the during the NRA speech.
A poor attempt by 9-11 Rudy to garner attention to his failing campaign.
Dear Friends:
In the metal the song and sound that also can trace.
Oh mine Pappa to me he was so wonderful, he fought for me and for liberty!  Oh mine Pappa he made the lightning string the key, he knew he would pray for me, and I he.  Oh mine Pappa from thirteen colonies to all fifty one and our flag waves free for thee.
Those were the days when woman proudly went to vote.
Those were the days of sleighs, trollies, dog sleds,
and he held me on his knees.  So proud am I that I am aloud to vote and so freely God our Blessed nation a constitution signed by great fathers of this nation.

Oh mine Mamma to me she is so wonderful and mine Pappa for rights they gave to me.
Please VOTE TODAY  ABSENTEE YOU TOO.  REGISTER IF IT IS STILL TIME FOR TIME IS NOT JUST A PROUD MAGAZINE FOR TELLING THINGS EVEN IN THE APALACIANS, SIERRAS OR GRAND.  GRAND IS THE CANYON AND WOMAN AND MAN AND GRAND IS THE VOTE GIVEN AND ACTED UPON BY THEE.

PROUD I AM TO BE AN AMERICAN.  SAM I AM  AN AMERICAN.
HEY DAY VOTING DAY IS!   HAY OUT OF THE SACK LAZY BONES,  WE HAVE TO VOTE.  MY HERO!!!  AFTER VOTING WE WILL SEE.
Maybe people are tired of hearing about his "experience" with terrorists.  9/11 is not experience.
Melbourne, my home town. We only get in the news when there is a hurricaine or someone does something ridiculous. Woo hoo!
Was it something to do with 9-11 ?

a verb, a noun and '911'......
Following a threat to a facility at Harris Corporation, the company notified local and campaign security who were on the scene.  For the safety and security of the employees and visitors arriving, the town hall meeting was diverted to a nearby facility and conducted after a brief delay. After an investigation, it was learned that the threat was a hoax and the company facilities reopened later that day.
Wow...sounds like those speedboats in Gulf. Very Giuliani of him.
Hope we don't get copycats.
Hmmmmm.....He didn't stage it? See now that the focus is shifting from foreign to domestic, Rudy could be losing his base....one little scare and remind them of how the world needs a 911 mayor...hey it might work.

I hope the copycats did not read this.
They can disrupt the entire process with these bogus threats.
Rudy is still running? This is myopia in  the making on his side.....after the mac is back in the race I can't see how Rudy can even come close to the nomination.
Could it be possible that the Guiliani campaign staff "staged" the "non-credible" and "non-specific" threat to bolster Rudy's stand against terrorism? Given his current standing in the polls, I wouldn't put it past him.
first fake tears, now fake threats...aaah com on!!!
I believe this is a crock of whatever!
First, Guiliani has a headache and orders his plane to turn around and he goes to the hospital, only to be on camera leaving the hospital the next day waving and smiling. How about this, Guiliani did not want to campaign over the holiday break, knowing he did not have the numbers and so the headache thing played good. Did not do well in New Hampshire, but wants to keep his name in the game and comes up with this. Oh, did he not paint the perfect teriorist picture during the debate?  What a joke.
hmmm.non credible and non specific...sorta like rudy911
Could the threat have been nobody was going to show up? If you hung a 'Free Pizza' sign outside of the Airport Hangar, you could probably get enough people to fill that.
What is your response to bloggers that insist that Obama refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegience or salute the Flag.  Can you give me some backgroung on this and tell me if there is a is a shred of truth to it?  Help.
I am glad people are beginning to see that Obama can do more for this our Country than the Clintons can.  They had their chance.  We need new ideas and new intentions to make our country what it can be!! Respected in the world.
GULLIANI IS A JOKE  WE WANT A CANDIDATE WHO RUNS FOR ALL PEOPLE   NOT JUST A FEW BIG STATES
Rudy is at it again! TERROR, TERROR, TERROR, TERROR, TERROR!
My only hope is that the Media got the message back off of expresssing your feeling on your favorite canadate and cut out the polls...As for the Mayor i dont wish bad on him but he should stay in NY.
RED ALERT RED ALERT, somebody doesn't like Rudy.
His campaign should go down in the history books as how not to run a campaign. If he can't run a decent campaign how would he do in the White House?
