Clinton ad channels NH moment?

Posted: Friday, January 11, 2008 5:36 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
Earlier today we wrote about the newest Clinton ad in which she says, "Over the last week I listened to you and in the process I found my own voice. You helped remind everyone that politics isn’t a game. This campaign is about people -- about making a difference in your lives. It’s time we had a president who stands up for all of you.”

But is it us or is the language she uses in this ad -- which comes directly from her victory speech on Jan. 8 in New Hampshire -- echo her much-publicized choking up moment in New Hampshire? Here’s what she said then:

“This is very personal for me; it’s not just political; it’s not just public. I see what’s happening. We have to reverse it. And some people think elections are a game; they think it’s like who’s up or who’s down. It’s about our country; it’s about our kids’ futures. And it’s really about all of us, together.”

Clinton and Obama both are channeling John Edwards. If anyone hasn't noticed they are lifting phrases and ideas directly from his speeches, they haven't been paying attention.
THE NASTY LETTERS KEEP COMING IN AGAINST HILLARY.  I THINK THAT CAN BE INTERPETED AS AS A REASON FOR REAL DEMOCRATS TO FEEL GOOD. SHE MUST REPRESENT A TRUE AGENT OF CHANGE THAT THE EXTREME RIGHT ARE FIGHTING.
NO OME IS FIGHTING SO HARD TO MAKE A CASE AGAINST EDWARD'S OR OBAMA. THATS BECAUSE THEY THINK CLINTON WILL BE THE HARDEST ONE TO BEAT IN NOVEMBER.
IF YOU REALLY WANT CHANGE VOTE FOR HILLARY.
IF YOU REALLY WANT AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE VOTE FOR HILLARY
IF YOU WANT SOME ONE WHO IS EXTREMELY TRUTHFUL VOTE
FOR HILLARY
IF YOU WANT A PRESIDENT WHO WILL RESTORE OUR GOOD NAME AROUND THE WORLD VOTE FOR HILLARY.
IF YOU WANT SOMEONE WHO WILL WORK ACROSS THE ISLE, THEN VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS PROVEN THEY CAN DO IT.  VOTE FOR HILLARY.
IF YOU WANT SOMEONE WHO WILL STAND AND FACE THE TOUGH VOTES, NOT MERELY VOTING PRESENT SO THEY COULD SAY THEY DID NOT VOTE FOR SOMETHING THEN VOTE FOR HILLARY.
IF YOU WANT A TOUGH NEGOTIATOR, WHO CAN FINALLY TEAR UP AFTER ENDURING NOT ONLY HOURS OF WORKING INCREDABLY HARD, NOT EATING RIGHT, RARELY SLEEPING
GETTING ALL KINDS OF TERRIBLE THINGS SAID ABOUT HER AND THEN KEEP GOING, GET BACK ON TRACK AND STILL CROSS THE FINISH LINE FIRST.  THEN I SAY TO YOU

VOTE FOR HILLARY
she "found her voice"? Whose was she using before. WHAT A PHONEY!!!!!

Republicans and Independents as well as Democrats will vote for Obama.  Hillary only gets Dems, (and even Dems don't want another Clinton soap opera in the White House).  This is why we need to vote for Obama.
It never ceases to amaze me that so many ignorant ranters respond whenever a Clinton story appears.... Bill, Hillary... doesn't matter, the idiots surface. She is no more or no less "real" than any other candidate. Get a grip folks.... Hillary is not my choice for President, but the superficial spewage that seems to pass for reasoning here is insulting to all us readers. Put away your prejudices and look with open eyes at all the candidates. The field is weaker than any in recent memory. So, I will go with my old standby decider....  Who LOOKS like a president of the USA?  I think it would be Edwards... or perhaps Romney... whaddaya think?
Get your heads out of the sand, the women cares deeply about this nation. You can say all you want, however she will be elected the next President. And mark my words, she will be one of the "greatest" leaders this nation has ever had.If you would like to learn more ,please come join the conversation at hillaryclinton.com , we welcome you.
The media coverage of the NH primary is very pathetic.  They want us to believe (and unfortunately, it worked) that Clinton won because of her emotional moment the day before.  If any of you who are intelligent enough to analyze the results of that vote, you will see that Hillary got more support than Obama among the >DEMOCRATIC< base.

I can't believe the constant scrutiny that Hillary receives through all media outlets, whether left or right leaning, and when you really look at the criticism she faces, much of it is about her personality. This nonsense of winning the primary because of voter sympathy is unbelievable; no matter what she does or how she acts she will always be portrayed in a negative light.

It is sad that there are fools out there who believe that this is a Miss America pageant where personality outweighs accomplishment.

Obama has gotten so much attention because he has the >endorsement< of the mainstream media, and unfortunatley in this day and age, the media is very influential to the point where Americans have become too lazy to think for themselves.  But I'm glad that there were independent thinkers out there who didn't let the media vote for them on Jan. 8th.  The reason why the older generation of voters support her is that they are not foolish enough to give in to the media circus of reporting the news.

Change is automatic once any of the Dems become president, and if you look closely, all the Dem. candidates have almost identical policies.  Obama is admired because he is a good orator and although inspiring, we need to remember that we are not electing a priest.  There is no talk about his policies and what he has over Hillary, all that you hear in the news and in the papers is the same cliche, "inspiring" "hopeful" "appealing".  But never is there mention of anything further.

Hillary Clinton is the most powerful woman in the US and she is feared rather than revered by those who don't look at her closely.  People love to hate her and they don't know why.  But what strikes me most is how resolute she has been in the wake of the media barrage on her candidacy, and I applaud her for that.
She stole John Edwards' words in the choking up moment, sa that "this is personal for me" and she also sounded like him in her NH victory speech.  On the campaign trail, she is now talking about giving a voice to the unheard, the invisible--again stolen from Edwards.  It's not that any one candidate owns certain words or concepts, but Hillary is following right behind Edwards and picking up the phrases and sentiments he used a day or two ahead of her.
Jessica, Wisconsin: are you reading the "Go Obama. Yes we can off of a teleprompter"?
diane: since when has Hillary welled up since the initial event?

Honestly, when will people give this woman a break. First she is cold and calculating, then she is trying to be too warm (and then accused of being insincere)...then people like Sara claim she didn't win NH because people felt sorry for her....and that Sara knows that she never cried when her husband was cheating on her (were you part of the white house furniture?)
After 'her moment' she took about 3 secs to get back to her old ways.  I don't deny her or anyone else feelings, but jeeessh, couldja at least wait a day or so??

What I want to know is:  What makes up her 35 years of experience?  Being married to the politician doesn't count.  Imagine if a man married to a female politician said that?

(Oh wait... Is that what Hillary is trying to set up?  Since she counted her time as First Lady,  Bill will be able to count his time as First Gentleman?  NOT!!!)

What a scary thought.  That White House needs some fresh air!!

Obama for AMERICA!!!
When I see a crying woman I want to send her some flowers or candy, but I do not want to vote for her.
This lady should win oscar in fake acting category. 3000 people died in New York on 9/11. Thousands lost loved ones. No one saw a tear drop in her eyes. 4000 soldier are killed in Iraq. No one saw her got teared up. But when a woman ask her how she manage all these and who does her hair, all on a sudden she gets emotional. It's tear of fear that her presidential ambition was coming under threat as NH polls were suggesting. It was a last moment desparate appeal to women to rescue her. She was begging for sympathy. Sympathy of a abused woman earned her a senate seat in NY. I hope begging does not earn her presidency. I know it's fake because the sentence she said while teared up, "politics has become a game of who is up and who is down" is a much used Obama phrase in campaign trail. A sincerely emotional person does not use her rival's lines (many of them she stole). Now she is using her fake tears to all states. I am sure she will use them against Republicans. And then we this country will come under threat from some country, she will run this ad there to earn sympathy. What a dignified strategy?! Women who take pride of their accomplished should be ashamed of this low tricks of marketing a crying woman to beg for votes.
How low these Clintons will go?
She is moved to tears by the thought of losing power. I like the part where she said "I have so many opportunities for America". Is she crying for us? She must really think we are to stupid to function as a nation without her at the helm. I would like to see a commander in chief with less of a sense of superiority and, less inclined to break down in tears when stressed.
Weird.
Hillary wil win the democratic nomination, I'll tell you now. She will be our next president and she will be a great great one.
HEY OBAMA HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SCANDAL YOUR IN RIGHT NOW! REZKO WILL SPILL THE BEANS ON YOUR ESTATE FRUAD IN A DAY OR TWO, LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT. IF ANYONE WANTS TO SEE IT GO TO YOUTUBE AND WATCH THE VIDEO FROM CNN AND ABC, HERE YOU GO http://youtube.com/results?search_query=REZKO
THREE AND SEVEN ARE THE ONES FROM TODAY, CHECK IT OUT OBAMA FANS, THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT TO RUN YOUR COUNTRY?
Whatever the truth about Hillary might be, Obama is manipulative, calculating and condescending.

This forum is almost exclusively a stage for blatherskites, so I don't expect to convince anyone; but, for the record:

In his "concession" speech, Obama stepped up his imitation of Martin Luther King. In addition to borrowing King's language and imagery, he began pronouncing words with an African-American flavor, to sound like King. For instance, the word "equality" would become "equaliteh," and the word "democracy" would become "democraceh." Whether such pronunciation is good English, bad English or simply regionally accented English is not the point; the point is, he hadn't done it before. He changed the way he spoke. Previously, his diction was indistinguishable from educated, mainstream, upper middle class English; however, now that the South Carolina primary is coming up, he changes his diction to the kind that will give Black voters goosebumps.

This is not merely manipulative; it is contemptuous. He is trading on the King legacy, as though sounding like King makes him like King in substance.

This isn't the first time he's shown contempt for the voters; but it's the most reprehensible example I've seen. He is trading on the hopes of an oppressed people, as though the purpose of their suffering were to elect him to office.

Obama is a skilled orator who evades specific questions about how he plans to achieve the grand goals he speaks of, hoping to get elected on style, appearance and the ability to stir the emotions of a crowd. It's as if Elvis were running for President.
Near as I can tell, you have a bunch of highly educated candidates who are devoid of simple common sense.  As President, in order to accomplish any of your lofty goals you need the cooperation of both the House & Senate.  Decide, who among the current crop will have such ability?
Yaaaaaaaaaaawn !!!!!!!!!!!!

Clintons, just go away, please. We're already fatigued.
Repeating behavior that yeilded a positive response is human nature, and so automatic that people often don't even realize they're doing it. Toddlers do it, the elderly do it, everyone in between, and animals too. Why does this surprise anyone?
Marbw,

Thanks for sending the links. We Americans need to dive more deeply into the real issues and avert leadership that is taking this country down. The 'election game,I see ironically coming from the Clintons and Romney more than most of the other candidates.I see the'fairy tale'that Bill Cinton referred to, not as Obama's contemporary quest for unity in America, but as the futile effort for the status quo to continue to this country and have dominence in the world. We will never ultimately succeed as a nation unless we bring unity that empowers individuals to this country. The same 'Unity' practiced at home is neccessary to take out into the world. The swelling of voters at the polls, particulary the new voters Obama is drawing into the process is the dawn of 'change'. That candidates would cheapen the discussion of 'change' to serve their own ambitions smacks of everything we don't need in the White House. By cheapening the discussion, they are disrepsecting American citizens and the very democracy they say they uphold. I suggest we don't trust tears or anything else but a real discussion about the issues facing America and the world together.
I am preparing a leadership course on Trust and have been doing alot of reading and thinking about the subject. I know that trust and politics are practically impossible to use in the same sentence unless we're saying "We don't trust politicians".
I can't think of any examples in all of the reading and reactions to candidates that anyone has said, I support "so and so" because I TRUST that they want what's best for this country and TRUST that they will LEAD this country to make the country great, not themselves. Candidates who are in this for the country would not run attack campaigns on anything other than the issues facing this country. Attack the issues, not the candidates. Attach the candidates', stand on the issues, not the candidates themselves.

I, personally, neither trust, nor necessarily distrust, some of the candidates, whether they are Republican or Democrat. However, I actively DISTRUST Hillary Clinton and she would never get my vote. Never. I have seen too many obvious examples of her being politically expedient versus truthful and despite her "tearful" expressions of why, even though it's "hard" she's doing this for the country. I don't believe it for a second. I don't trust her.

I think Trust would be a much better catch word of the campaign than Change. Let's focus on TRUST -- but, then, perhaps the nature of politics in this country makes that impossible.
HRC Bashers:  What a pile of CRAP.  I can only imagine your venoumous day.  How can we put down, and or "rant" about HRC again, and with a touch more vile.  CRAP, CARP, CRAP, and then some more CRAP...

I am also strongly objecting to the new "Why Obama lost NH" view that blanes it on a subtle, racism.  AGAIN what a total LOAD.  The talking heads are out sprinkling this theory in Pro-Obama pep talks.  I will not vote for Obama because he has not convinced me that he is QUALIFIED.  I will not vote for Obama because of his patent distregard for the truth.  He is a great candidate.  He is a wonderful orator, but he is not my choice.  If this is racism, subtle or not then this HISPANIC doesn't believe that the charges are real.  To vote for a man only because of skin color harkens back to the SOUTH in the 60s when only white counted.  Talking heads take a deep breath, and realize that Obmas lost NH because the Granite State crowd rejected Chris Matthews and MSBC's one sided view.
Chris Matthews should hide his Obama pompoms and once again report the news, not his anti-HRC feelings.
Hilary is the ultimate trickster!  She will literally use anything and anyone at her disposal to win this election. She honestly has no idea what she stands for.  She isn't looking to help other people just herself. This is a power trip for her. Truthfully, I want her to win the nomination because then it will be a walk to the white house for a republican.  If somehow she managed to deceive half the country into voting for her she won't have many left to govern.  Everyone I know is moving to Canada if she becomes president.
What about Obama's association with Tony Rezco who was just indicted on fraud and paying politicians off to get favors.  Brian Ross of ABC investigated it and reported on it just this past week.  It is posted on you tube.  Obama admits the house deal he made with Rezco's wife and quote said he was a "bonehead" to do it. Rezco is a major contributor to Obama's Campaign What about the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago that he is a member of.  Go to their website.  http://www.tucc.org/home.htm  and also read the newsweek lengthy piece on it.
It is totally black as far as staff goes and primarily the congregation.  Research it for yourself and you will see that they really do not want any whites in that congregation. They are out to destroy the whites and put the blacks in charge.  It is a revenge thing.
What about the real lack of experience from Obama and his Muslim roots?
There is just way too many questions about Obama and in the end Americans won't buy it.  A lot of these issues that I have raised here are coming out in droves all over the internet now.
That guy scares me a lot but he does make good speeches.
The Clintons have to stand against him but the race card is being played against the Clintons by the blacks and that is really unimaginable after all of the support they have given the black community.
Another newsweek article quote;
This is regarding Jeremiah Wright, Obama's Pastor.

There's no question that Wright has been a controversial figure, a passionate advocate for black self-help and to some, a radical. Jason Byassee, in a lengthy article on the church published in Christian Century magazine, said, "There is no denying ... that a strand of radical black political theology influences Trinity." He added, "Conservatives may find the Africentric church too political, and liberals may squirm over its revivalist emotion." But he praised the church's success in growing to more than 8,000 members, making this black congregation the largest single church in a predominately white United Church of Christ denomination, saying "the black church continues to makes converts in unlikely places, reflecting a God who makes a way where there is no way."

Wherever we looked we found ample evidence that Obama's church is pro-black, but we found none to support a claim that it is anti-white. Calling it "racist" is, in our judgment, a falsehood.

Newsweek reported this and they say "in our judgement"
it is not racist howver AMERICANS, MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT.  It appears very racist to me.
"WAY TO GO CHRISTY" - EVERYONE HERE IS THE LINK AGAIN ABOUT OBAMA AND REZCO.  http://youtube.com/results?search_query=REZKO

Yeah Obama fans do you really think a crooked politician, racist against white folks, inexperienced black man with muslim roots can unite America?

Can any of you really tell me that you totally dismiss these facts for oratorical skills.
We all that have good sense about what can happen to our country should Obama be elected have to keep posting on each and every legitimate website that we can and get the message out about Obama.
For the life of me I cannot even fathom any one voting for Obama.
