Huckabee on money

Posted: Sunday, January 13, 2008 1:11 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Huckabee has his mind on their money and their money on his mind.

Speaking to a crowd of over 250 supporters at the University of South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium, the Arkansas governor compared big spending in Washington to the big budgets of his rival campaigns.

"In some of these cases,” the Arkansas governor said of his GOP rivals tonight, “I see how much money these guys have spent on their campaigns, and they’ve spent an incredible amount to not get very far.”

“I’m thinking, ‘That’s just what we don’t need in Washington,’” he added.

Huckabee didn’t mention any candidates by name, but he poked fun at his opponents for expending copious amounts of “their own money.” (Mitt Romney has transferred a substantial amount of his own fortune into his campaign coffers, although the exact amount of the investment remains unclear. It was $17.5 million through the first three quarters of 2007.)

Romney’s total expenditures through the third fundraising quarter were more than $50 million. Giuliani and McCain’s checks cashed in at about $30 million apiece. Huckabee, in comparison, spent under $2 million in the same period.

“If they’d spend that kind of their own money,” Huckabee joked of his well-funded colleagues, “What in the world would they do with yours?”

Boy is he desperate!  Mitt Romney is spending his own, hard earned money. Romney didn't take a salary as Governor of Mass, at the Olympics or if he is elected President...then either!
So Huck.....work harder!
Huckabee's 'fair' tax will kill the economy.   Imagine how difficult it's going to be for people to buy a car when there's a 25% (or more!) sales tax on the vehicle.  Sure, they'll be getting more of their paycheck, but people will nickel and dime it away before it's time to make a major purchase.  Certainly those who live paycheck to paycheck will.
You don't have a clue about how the FairTax works. The FairTax eliminates the hidden taxes that are already in every product purchase. Go to fairtax.org.
This country is going to hell anyway. GREED is why. Huckabee isn't perfect, no one is, but he has a good heart. I honestly think, nothing can save this country because this country is calloused against perfectly good people like Mr. Mike Huckabee. Enjoy the downfall of America folks. Say hello to globalization and a worldwide economy. Comin' your way! Unfortunately.
Seems that he is jealous of what he wish he had. Wouldn' t it be good if all political parties spend there own money because they do it for patriotism...Mc Cain and Huck are bed partners and liberal not a true conservative. His "Fair Tax" just won't work but go ahead and fall for his no substance chance and who is now using "dirty Tricks" Oh but him and Mc Cain love to back track and they just have no class they both want to tear this party apart.
It's clear Mike is the true fiscal conservative in this race! How can you justify being a fiscal conservative and then spend the kind of money his opponents have spent. The message and the messenger are disconnected when you look at Romney and Rudy and all the rest. Go Huck!
FairTax critics are the new blondes.  Go Huckabee !!!
While Hucakbees populism is getting him votes I do think when people look at his 'fair' tax position they will leave him in droves. Fair means fair not ploping all the taxes on the middle class. George Will has a recent article in the sunday paper on the repub chances this election, it looks like the party will stumble badly. I hope forces of moderation will again take hold in the repub party. Devisiveness no longer works!
No bucks huck is doing just fine, EVEN IF HE DOESNT WIN HE HAS THE YOUNG PEOPLE BELIEVING IN FAITH AGAIN, AND AN OLD FOGIE LIKE ME THAT GIVE UP ON CHURCH, TILL HE RENEWED MY FAITH, JUST BY SEEING HIM ON TV
Huck would have more $ if he didn't spend all his $ on food for himself and family. Huck get a life. Your just jealous.

Huckabee CAN'T raise any money - so he's trying to condemn those who can.

Typical Evangelical hypocrit!  But it won't work in "Catholic Country" - where we use our BRAINS to vote - not our televangelist pastors.  (Let them go back to robbing little old ladies and get OUT of politics!)

Mitt Romney has a little problem that is Telling the Truth please watch this video and judge for yourself:

More Flip Flopping on Mitt Romney

It has now come out that George Romney never marched with Martin Luther King watch how his campaign manager flips and flops in this interview with Chris Matthews please watch this video.

Anyone that says the fair tax is a tax on the middle class needs to look into it and see what it really is. First you have the prebate checks that cover all the basics of living. After that everything is taxed the same for everything.
Middle Class buys a little bass boat for $10,000 + 23% tax = $12,300 or $2300 in taxes.
Rich class buys a yacht for $1,000,000 + 23% = $1,230,000 or $230,000 in taxes.

Not to mention the since the Fair takes all the hidden taxes (Unemployment, corporate, Social Security, Medicare, Payroll...) so the actual cost of a $10,000 is more like $8,000 after the fair tax is passed.

That will make American companies more competitive and more stuff will be made here again. Driving down unemployment and bringing good paying jobs back to America and increasing our exports because it will be cheaper to make things here.

Let's not forget the IRS $8 Billion dollar budget savings after we close thier doors.
I don't know how much simpler it can get.
Count me as one of the ones that liked Mike Huckabee while he flew under the radar and performed well at the debates.  However, ever since he caught fire in Iowa (due to religious bigotry almost exclusively I believe) and his record and his actual competence have come to light and increased scrutiny, I have never been so disturbed and disappointed with a candidate.  Every time he speaks I'm upset and/or disgusted with his comments.  He either talks a lot and says nothing of substance or he makes comments that are absolutely wrong, but which appeal to a populist, but "un-American", crowd.  The comments above are no exception.

Since when was it "un-American" to work hard and benefit from such hard work?  Since when was it "un-American" to spend your own money on something that you believe in?  Since when was it proper to speak badly of those that have more than you do (money in this case) - especially coming from a former pastor (jealousy, greed, etc.)?   Huck's logic seems to imply the less you spend of your own money in a campaign, the better President you'd be.  That's just insane.  The fact is, to become President you've got to have money to some degree.  The more you have the better because that is one less obstacle to overcome.  However, never have I heard Mitt, or any other candidate, ask for a vote based upon his/her wealth.  If money really did matter, wouldn't Bill Gates be running.  It is important to note that Mitt Romney has outraised every other Republican candidate through three quarters, not including his own funds he has spent.  This says something about appeal I think.  More importantly, Mitt Romney's record is vast and impressive - more so than any other candidate's record.  Mike Huckabee gave speeches for $25,000 minimum prior to Iowa - is anyone complaining?  Not that I've seen.  Should they?  No, because that is American - the market dictates - supply and demand.  We all want to make more money, be more successful, and as a result be able to do more good.  If making money was bad, from what Huck keeps saying and implying he wouldn't be charging for speeches or he'd at least be charging a lot less.  Huck also continues to claim America wants a President that is more like the guy you work with than the guy that laid you off?  That isn't true is it?  Think about who you work with.  We all have good qualities that we'd like in a President, but that's totally different than being qualified and capable of running this great nation.  Mitt Romney, albeit not perfect, is the best Republican candidate that we have, hands down.  Every time Huck opens his mouth, he just makes that fact that much clearer to me.

It's amazing how many uniformed clowns are on this board making stupid comments.  Go and educate yourself on the fair tax before making any ridiculous comments that the fair tax will kill the economy.  If anything, the fair tax would help our economy which is headed for a recession. We need someone like Governor Huckabee or Romney with executive experience who can get us out of this mess.  Why would we consider electing an old Washington insider like John McCain.  He would be the worst President in my opinion. That line that he's the only candidate who supported the surge is garbage.
The fair tax recognizes what the liberal press wo't tell you.  That the ultimate tax payer is the consumer.  Who pays corporate income taxes.  The consumer when it gets rolled into the price of the product.  But what really happens is the income tas for each level of production gets rolled up to the next level until all the income taxes for the raw material supplier, the maufacturer, the retailer get rolled into the product.  By the time we pay the income taxes (rolled up the chain) we are probably paying around 40 per cent of the purchase price of goods in taxes.  Bring on the Fair Tax.

Huckabee's accusation on Mitt is misleading.  The only reason Huckabee can function without campaign donations is his tie in with evangelicals.

If it were not for a natural organization through evangelicals Huckabee would be irrelevant.  How popular would Huckabee be if he were Mormon and not a Baptist preacher??

Mitt was compeletly unknown a year ago and has had to spend a lot of money to compete with better known candidates.
ALl POLITICIANS FLIP FLOP.
IT's about the context of it. FLIP FLopping is CHANGE

Most do not like change. Every candadite is promting change or flip flopping.

Just because one candidates expouses a concept 20 years ago does not mean he is still that way or not.

We all change. Thus the need to re-evaluate and vote every 4 years.

Loved the Videos!

All these candidates have ghosts in their candidates. The one thing we know for certain is ROMNEY can change in organization. ANY company. He will change this country.

Some of these other candidates stand very little chance at changing this country for the better.

In the end, It will be up to us a voters and citizens to assist the change. None of our Presidents really matter compare to us as a people.
We have a congress that needs to be dumped and re-grouped and it is because of our 2 party system.

GOP and DEM should not be allowed to exist. PERIOD!

These platforms seem to supercede the consititution and the will of the people. SEEMS good from a distance but is the result of the mess were in.

Just so you know...ROMNEY supports both cause of abortion.
The issue is how everything should be governed. Would rather let the states handle the matter then the FEDS.
For LIFE in general. For choice too. HMM SEEMS like God lets both happen.
HAPPEN with consequences of course. We need less government personally. The states need to do more.

The greed of our ministers today. Make all kinds of claims and really just steel from the people because they have no real authority.

Just ask the Catholics what authority and priesthood is...They'll tell you that these so called born-agains split the mother church and are going to HELL.

Born agains are and catholics are good people. Its the fact that we have a huckabee that is a preacher and politician that is far more tooth-faced compared to the rest.
Check out his videos.

Mccain is a nasty shrewd! Just ask all the other collegues he works with etc.

His party can't stand him at all.

THE GOP is very divided. Good luck knocking out the DEMS. THey have the spirit of team work. May chide each other know and then but their still friends.

GOP's calling others dis-honest? Should be SUED personally for defamation of character.

Absolutely would loose.

Know for TRUTH. Truth is relative folks. Talk to Einsteen. Ok check out his theories of relativity.
I wouldn't be spreading lies around unless you are the Truth. As it has been said...let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

What's funny...Christ could have cast a stone and chose not too. Amazing!
huchster should have known better then to attack his fellow GOPrs.

McCain is pretty much a loser so if he attacks nobody really cares because he has done it for so long against everyone when he feels like to be a renegade. Reminds me of a BUSH. My way or the highway!

Romney is a candidate that certainly know the issues. He attempts to moderate and balance the issue.

Ticks some people off because they are my way or the highway type people.

When need a President that can moderate and bring balance to the economy. The budget. To foreign policy.

Let show some respect and stop name calling against all these candidates. Be smart. Pick Romney.

If your against DEM you had better pick and hope for Romney.
Otherwise it'll be clinton or obama or both! Could be both!
I'd rather have them then the faint hearted left with the GOP's
What does campaign money have anything to do with Washington Spending.  Hello! Is Romney going into debt? NO!  Can he afford it? Yes! There is a big difference Mr. Huckabee between spending what you don't have and spending what you do have.  Maybe Romney is spending this much because he has to to overcome the religious bigotry that faces his campaign, unlike you, the only reason your in the race is that you bring religion into it.  I can see why you want to get rid of the IRS!
Dear Friends:
Yes the race is on!!!!
Prayerfully who attacked me and my two maltese.
Bam   Obama was on the frost of my automobile in the morning!

You land is safe I am a voter here!!!
But things are changing all over this world keep your ID, religion, right to vote safe and get out and vote.

Who of the candidates knows what the impact of the change from china shipping to the Canadian ports will have on the USA?
Who knows what the amount of fish are left in the ocean and river and the sacrid salt of the waters of the world let olone the oil.
Obama what are you a data entry walking and no common sense?   Well well well  water table what is in it when seeding takes Please?

What are the impact of the difference between ocean, gulf and the rivers?  Much  Obama does not know what it is like to be a single parent or a parent that is gay or lesbian let alone of different races, including older parents.  Pretend.

Schools, board rooms, doctors,  lawyers and the shoes get worn out, the dog gets sick, the company goes through a buyout or trade out and the Katrina comes in.     Watching for him is not equal to action as in live military experience.   Where ever you are veterans get out and vote.  If you appreciate our men and woman protecting you you will vote for experience and or those capable of giving command.

So Obama where did you live as a child?   Your father what did he do?   Are you a truthful man or are you equal to your peer of Harvard?
Read Scientific American things are changing?  Why floride was thought safe for cavities and now oh you will or could lose your bone?    so what is the natural protector of cavities?

We need awareness and protection and advancement of education and we need to have a balance in the funds and the classes and still stay physically and harmoniously fit all ages.
start by getting out the vote.

Under priviledges and priviledge do not always get preferential treatment.  Just because the government elected to give it to you or someone at Harvard does not mean the citizens of the USA will give it to your or owe it to you.  I am a member of seven children and not one of us got what you were given when we got out of school nor now.  I am on the street with my too little maltese and things are happening in american crime.  How about in Illinois is it perfect  what happened to Northwesterns dental school?  We have an increasing population?   Teeth are still in the human being?

San Francisco loves to party?   All citizens, lesbians and gay have an election party and parade.  Comming out are you not me but that is me for I am monogamous.  Have fun it is an election!!! Party in San Franciciso all night and all day!!!!  Election time and bring out the issues.

Respect and have fun.  Hopefully no one will get hurt.
Why Obama how many jail and prisons in Illinois?   Check out California we have issues

How much does he or all candidates know of the futures of agriculture and ranchers and oil and money?
Why Money honey bear or bull!!!!!!

Sweet Carolina and Georgia and Virginia and Kentucky there are more than one bear in the world name them?
Why sport of it?
Elect the right one for the right cause.
Solar power, wind power, see the scientific American small nano chips in the body transfer to computer and energy flowing into auto, house and all other.  What a new year  the new year baby does not look colored black and he would not wear a cow boy hat, milk the cow or stand in the do do!!!!!! Raising Cane!!!

McCain        get out and vote!!!
English language......walking with someone...means not the verb/action....it means to be on the side of, agree with, support.
Governor Huckabee works hard to solve problems, in this case the problem of getting elected, instead of throwing money at it. That's not a bad quality for a president IMHO.

As far as the FairTax, Alan Greenspan weighed in on the idea of a consumption tax back in 2005 as mentioned here:  http://www.theconservativevoice.com/articles/article.html?storyid=3552

"Greenspan said, that the tax system should be simplified, perhaps with some kind of consumption tax, to encourage national economic growth and personal savings.”

20+ million dollars donated for research done by some of the best minds in economics at several of the most prestigious universities in America is a compelling argument for the FairTax. Just look at the impressive list of supporters and their credentials at the bottom of this page: http://www.fairtax.org/PDF/Open_Letter.pdf

Please consider there are many well educated people who make there living off of the highly complex 67,000 page tax code. Are they just going to sit by and watch their high paying jobs disappear? I'm not saying all naysayers make their living this way, but you can certainly count on that many who do will be out in force trying to defeat the FairTax.

I’m going to vote for Governor Huckabee because tax reform and fighting terrorism are my two main concerns; I’ll live with any disagreements I may have with him otherwise. Besides, if he wins the primary then the media won’t be able to ignore that the FairTax played a part. Then we will have most of a year before the election to debate tax reform and a good chance to actually get something done.

I think most if not all of us in this thread will agree it would be a good thing to have open public televised debates about any and all tax reform plans out there that may help stimulated or more appropriately unburden our economy. If not yet sold on the FairTax, at least support the idea about public debates on tax reform; it's very important for our country.
Imagine what Karl Rove could do with the “paper trail”, left by Jesus Christ:

Render unto Caesar, the things that are Caesar’s.--“He favors separating Church & State, and He will raise your taxes!”
Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.–“He’s weak on the Death Penalty!”
He who lives by the sword, will die by the sword.–“Pre-9/11 thinking.  He undermines our troops in Iraq, by questioning their mission and Commander in Chief!”
Love thy neighbor, as thyself.–“He is the captive of Special Interest Groups!”
‘When the humblest of my children were hungry, did you feed them?  Did you clothe them when they were naked?  Care for them when they were sick?  Visit them in prison?’
–“Hey Jesus, you’re a liberal!”

John Fenner, Boca Raton, Florida
I challenge all Catholics (I am one myself), to look seriously at this Baptist minister who shares our values.  Not only does he share our values of pro-life, faith, and strong marriages, but he also lives his faith.  I live in Arkansas and while he was governor was always proud to live in a state where such a God filled man was in the capitol.  With Huck, what you see is what you get,  he will not change his message.  He never has.  He is also humble!!!  How many politicians can say that!!!
Watch Tucker Carlson a True Conservative go after Mitt Romneys record and show that he is a True Flip Flopper.

In 35 years of owning cars (I'm 53), the ONLY bumper sticker I ever put on a car was 2 years ago, and it's the Fair Tax bumper sticker.  It's just stupid that we tax income (productivity), support consumption (credit cards for anyone with a pulse, and some without), and then complain we don't make enough money and we're a nation of consumers with a negative savings rate.  The assumption few seem to understand is that the whole success of the Fair Tax depends on growing the middle class - more businesses, more jobs, etc.  As a group the middle class will pay more, but spread among a bigger number.

Huckabee has my vote on this 1 issue.  For all I care he can say "Merry Christmas", "God Bless", and even host a diet/exercise show each morning from the White House as long as he pushes for the Fair Tax.

I own a small business and am typing this while watching football and doing last month/quarter/annual taxes.  I'd gladly replace all that (not the football) for the Fair Tax (I sell new retail products so I'd be remitting the Fair Tax to the government).
Go Mike Huckabee!
Mike Huckabee is running a positive, issues-based campaign.
Mike Huckabee has a better command of the issues.
Mike Huckabee is a better communicator.
Mike Huckabee has better executive experience than any other candidate in this race, Democrat or Republican.
Mike Huckabee even has hands-down the best website.
His opponents have outspent him 20 to 1 and yet he is still contending for both Michigan and South Carolina.

I urge all undecided voters to visit www.mikehuckabee.com and learn about Mike.  You'll be glad you did.
One hopes that, absent a Huckabee campaign effort to defend itself, the media will counter Romney attacks by pointing out how, at Bain Capital, Mr. Romney used offshore corporations to avoid U.S. taxation, and he fee-milked acquired businesses before firing workers and taking them into bankruptcy ( http://snipr.com/romneyoffshore ), to amass his great $250,000,000 wealth.

So, when you compare how Mr. Huckabee's visionary FairTax advocacy ( http://snipr.com/nextrung ) compares to Romney's interest in the current tax system, it's pretty easy to see who will lead us out of tax slavery ( http://snipr.com/taxburden ) - $265 billion annual tax code compliance costs representing 5 billion wasted hours, annually.
Huckabee doesn't NEED to raise money on ads as long as those EVANGEL FOOLS keep thinking God will "bless them" if they vote for the dufus.

The TRUTH is, God doesn't want Huckadumbell to ruin his one nation!

He certainly doesn't want a bunch of pious idiots (Evangel Pastors) to act like they are better than anyone else (they're actually WORSE) and pretend like they have some kind of a lock on true religion (They certainly do not!)
Huckabee's intolerant religion takes this nation back 150 years (When Baptists were trying to push SLAVERY on the North)...

Why don't you "Holier than Thou" wannabee's go back into the televagelist business and steal from old people - at least we knew what sneaky, lying, hypocritical thing you were up to.

Baptists give religion a bad name.
I can't stand that dimwit Huckabee... He and crankly OLD McCain have no business even being in the race.
John McCain is a man known to have cheated on each of his several wives...

NOT the type of person we can feel good about - or trust in the White House!

The "latest" Ms McCain looks like his daughter... OR granddaughter!
Just remember that Mitt Romney is the only 1st tier presidential candidate with no ethical accusations on his record.  Yes, he has moved to the right on social issues (and has been completely open about his changes...so be it if that brought flip-flop charges...at least he never tried to cover up anything), but both Huckabee and McCain have had ethical accusations in their government tenure (Huckabee paid himself using taxpayer dollars because he "consulted" himself and McCain was part of the Keating 5, etc).

Mitt is the only one who has been completely honest in his actions as a government official.
Amazing! The cleanest (as in 'washed') brains in the country support Huckabee.

Don't you - can't you - read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? Or the Declaration of Independence?
NOW HERE THIS! You are not chattel of the government!
Any tax on individuals or their property is un Constitutional. It's the supreme law of the land. It's unlawful for the government or any entity to 'own' a person.

Just like their 'father' (Huck) the followers of this man are disabled in the area of "living by principle". The Constitution is our 'body of governmental principles'. Get a copy and study it. Then you might - maybe - be qualified to utter statements about taxes and which candidate is best for America.

For those that are 'too Heavenly minded to be of any earthly good' - and are aversed to reading, go get a copy of 'America: Freedom-to-Fascism'.

Fair Tax is just another way to keep feeding and growing the beast of big, un-restrained government.

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage" (Galatians 5:1).

"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Corinthians 3:17).

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. [John 8:12, 31–36]

Huckabee is a con-man. Con men always sound good.
He doesn't ground anything he says in the Constitution because he's incapable of thinking Constitutionally.
Wake up.
Geez, you sheep for Mike Huckabee make me sick.  You are ruining the party of myself and other conservatives.  Huckabee DID raise taxes when he was Governor of Arkansas.  He has a populist/almost Karl Marx message.  And yes you still buy in because he's either "likeable", a "good guy", or "Christian."

Wake up people.  Fred Thompson is a Christian too, but you don't see him beating people to death with it.  And he actually IS conservative economically, unlike the Huckster's record.

Not only that, but Huckabee is completely unprepared for foreign policy.  He has been smacked down twice now in just the past week, both on Guantanomo and on Pakistan.  He doesn't know what the heck he's talking about.

I for one am scared to death of Mike Huckabee as a candidate.  He brings the worst qualities of Bill Clinton and the worst qualities of George W. Bush combined.  There's a reason why he's supported by VERY liberal groups like the NEA/Machinist Union/Painters' Union.  And opposed by very conservative economic groups like the CATO institution and the Club for Growth.  Open your eyes!

We're electing a president, not a pastor!
Big problem with FairTax - doesn't matter how you spin it, 23c of every dollar spent is closer to a tax RATE of 30% - my basic math is 23/77 for the rate.  That is why FairTax won't fly - and the fact that until the 16th Ammendment is repealed, do you really trust the Feds to not have FairTax and Inocme Tax??

Huckabee you disappoint me daily. Grow up.

Everyone out there needs to know one thing. With Huckabee you'll definitely get taxes, but don't expect them to be fair.

Just as with any politician out there, look at his record and what he's done in the past, not what he says he's for now. If you do, you'll realize as I did that he's not a fiscal conservative and not what we need in Washington to reign in spending. After knowing what I do know I wouldn't trust him to balance my checkbook let alone advance as radical a change as the fair tax is going to be. Not saying there aren't some good ideas in there, but he's not the one that will make it happen.
Statement from Lois Davidson, Mother of Killer's Victim, in Response to Huckabee

Statement from Lois Davidson, Mother of Killer's Victim, in Response to Huckabee

Lois Davidson, whose daughter Carole Sue Shields was raped and killed in 2000 by a criminal whose release from prison was championed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, issued the following statement today in response to Huckabee's contention in a television interview that her story was being "exploited" for political purposes:
"Last night, Mike Huckabee accused me of being exploited and used for political purposes. I assure you, Mr. Huckabee, I am not being exploited. I am fully aware of the actions I have taken in attempting to inform the public of your role in my daughter's rape and murder. I have spent over 7 years thinking about this.
"I am not a dupe. But you, Governor Huckabee, were duped time and again by convicted felons who once released from prison by you began hurting people again.
"Mr. Huckabee, I am not a victim. However, my daughter was a victim. She was raped and murdered by a serial rapist that you wanted freed from prison. Please be honest about the role you played in releasing my daughter's killer."

Huckabee's dismissal of Davis came during an interview on the Hannity and Colmes television program following a Republican debate in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Davidson's story is the subject of an ad aired in South Carolina this week focusing on Huckabee's dismal record on the rights of crime victims. The ad was developed and paid for by Victims Voice, an Arkansas-based victims advocacy group and can be viewed on the Victims Voice Web site at www.victimsvoice527.com.

The 60-second ad from Victims Voice tells of how Shields was raped and murdered in 2000 by Wayne Dumond, a former inmate in Arkansas prisons whose release was championed by Huckabee. After his release, Dumond relocated to Missouri, where he raped and killed Shields and is believed to have killed another woman. Dumond died in prison in 2005.

Victims Voice is a non-profit 527 launched in December 2007 to expose the Mike Huckabee record of releasing hardened criminals from prison. During his 10 ½ years as governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee released over 1,000 criminals from Arkansas prisons. That total is more than that of the previous two Democratic governors combined, one of whom was Bill Clinton.

"Gov. Huckabee's suggestion that Lois Davidson is being 'exploited' is deplorable, and his callous dismissal of Ms. Davidson as a political pawn is shameful," said Keith Emis, director of Victims Voice. "According to all published reports, Huckabee played a key role in supporting Dumond's release, but now he's trying to run from his record. How many more women must die or live in fear before Mike Huckabee is held accountable for his actions?"
Have you seen the music video “Friends in Low Poll Places” yet? This is a great video about Mike Huckabee by the famous George W Bush impersonator John Morgan.

Here is the link:

It seems that GW is in favor of old Huck, but it could be for good fun too.
