Clinton vs. Obama

Posted: Monday, January 14, 2008 9:43 AM by Domenico Montanaro

The Washington Post: “Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton defended her recent remarks on civil rights Sunday, as Sen. Barack Obama weighed in on the controversy for the first time, describing Clinton's earlier comments about the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. as ‘unfortunate’ and ‘ill-advised.’” More: “At the same time, a prominent Clinton ally, Robert L. Johnson, appeared to attempt to revive the issue of Obama's admitted past drug use. Introducing Clinton at an event in Columbia, Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, said both Clintons ‘have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues since Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood -- and I won't say what he was doing, but he said it in his book.’”

VIDEO: NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports the sparring between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has heated up, including barbs about race.

“Johnson issued a statement denying that interpretation, saying he was referring to Obama's work as a community organizer,” the Los Angeles Times writes. “Obama spokesman Bill Burton did not accept Johnson's statement. "It's troubling that neither the campaign nor Sen. Clinton -- who was there as the remark was made -- is willing to condemn it, as they did when another prominent supporter recently said a similar thing," Burton said. He was referring to the then-co-chairman of Clinton's New Hampshire campaign, who quit after being criticized for discussing Obama's drug use.”

Pegged to yesterday’s furious volleys between the two campaigns -- especially Bob Johnson’s remarks -- the New York Times writes, “After staying on the sidelines in the first year of the campaign, race and to a lesser extent gender have burst into the forefront of the Democratic presidential contest, thrusting Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton into the middle of a sharp-edged social and political debate that transcends their candidacies.”

VIDEO: Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.,  speaks with NBC’s Tim Russert of “Meet the Press” about the response to comments she made while on the campaign trail.

More: "Aides to both Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama expressed squeamishness at the direction the conversation was heading. And publicly, the campaigns spent much of the day shadow-boxing on an issue that advisers to both of them described as volatile."

The New York Daily News: "Hoping to fend off deterioration in a key pillar of her base, Clinton spent another day trying to deflect criticism from her suggestion President Lyndon Johnson played as big a role in the civil rights movement as the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr."

The New York Post: "Race took center stage in the Democratic presidential campaign yesterday as Hillary Rodham Clinton accused Barack Obama of 'deliberately distorting' her comments about Martin Luther King's impact on civil rights. One of Clinton's most prominent black supporters, meanwhile, made a thinly veiled suggestion about the Illinois senator's teenage drug use."

By the way, don't miss the fact that when given the chance, Edwards weighed in on the side of Obama over the MLK-LBJ dispute.

For more on the dispute and much more, don’t miss yesterday’s appearance by Clinton on Meet the Press.

The L.A. Times notes how this flare-up over race stepped on the rollout of Obama's economic stimulus plan. "The back-and-forth dominated a particularly bitter day on the campaign trail, as both Democrats said they felt besieged by ungrounded personal attacks, and it all but overshadowed the candidates' policy pronouncements. Obama unveiled a proposal to stimulate the economy that would be slightly more expensive than the $70-billion plan Clinton proposed Friday. The Illinois senator's $75-billion proposal focuses more on immediate tax relief to workers and retirees, whereas Clinton's would give priority to increased government spending on housing and energy assistance."

The New York Times fact-checks the claims the Clintons have made on Hillary’s Iraq war authorization vote. “In interviews and at a recent campaign event, they have said that Mr. Hagel, Republican of Nebraska, helped draft the resolution, which they said was proof that the measure was more about urging Saddam Hussein to comply with weapons inspections, instead of authorizing combat. Mrs. Clinton repeated the claim Sunday during an interview on ‘Meet the Press,’ saying ‘Chuck Hagel, who helped to draft the resolution, said it was not a vote for war.’”

“But the talking point appears to misconstrue the facts… In the original proposal Mr. Hagel had backed, force was authorized only to secure the destruction of Iraq’s unconventional weapons, not to enforce ‘all relevant’ United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq, which was the language in the version that ultimately passed.” But: “It was the White House proposal, not Mr. Hagel’s, that Mrs. Clinton supported, explaining in an Oct. 10, 2002, speech on the Senate floor that it was time to tell Saddam Hussein that ‘this is your last chance - disarm or be disarmed.’”

Last night, Obama included this bite on the war to his stump, per NBC/NJ's Aswini Anburajan. "I'm running for president because I want a foreign policy that actually makes us safer. That isn't just a bunch of talk and a bunch of bluster. You know I opposed this war in Iraq from the start. But one of my opponents is trying to rewrite history. But I want everyone to be clear that every respectable news outlet will tell you that I opposed this war in 2002 when I was running for the United States Senate. I opposed in 2003, 4, 5, 6, and 7. I put forward a bill at the beginning of last year that set a timetable for withdrawal. And as president of the United States I will bring our troops home by the end of 2009. We will end this war."

What's interesting about this is that it begs for a follow-up since in a previous debate Obama wouldn't pledge to bring all the troops home from Iraq by 2013.

The Chicago Sun-Times looks at how Obama pledged to vote against Iraq war funding when running for the Senate but ended up voting for it once in the Senate.

It is so diappointing the people can get into that deep to get the votes. Race is a big issue and why this issue is brought up when election in south carolina and navanda is going on. I am a democrate and obama fan but i will blame obama campaign for doing for bringing this up. Democrate should only focus on their main country issues rather than race and gender. Obama will loose because if race card is played and white vote will cut drastically.
After a few incidents where the Clinton's have opened their mouth's and inserted their foots, one has a hard time believing that any black or latino person would vote for the Clinton's.  Bad enough they had the gall to make Martin Luther King seem smallish, but after that farce in Las Vegas, it has to make one wonder if they will push those people under the bus like Bill did when he got elected back in 1992.
Do Bob Johnson and the Clintons thing the world is made up of idiots? I mean really it doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine what he was talking about! Sheesh!
Do Bob Johnson and the Clintons thing the world is made up of idiots? I mean really it doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine what he was talking about! Sheesh!
Though I didn't believe that the Clintons were playing the race card before the NH primary, I believe that Hillary has now resorted to that. Shame on her. It is now clear that she wants to win the nomination by any means possible.
This is sleazy politics on Clinton's part. Obama made it clear that he would have voted against the war if he'd had the chance. By the time he got to the Senate, he had no choice but to vote to support the troops. He has made attempts every year since to stop the war in Iraq (by imposing withdrawal timelines) with no success.

Clinton, on the other hand, was there at the time and could easily have voted against either the war at the outset or the funding for it early on, before we were truly stuck there. She didn't, and now she's trying to cover her own keister by attacking Obama.

And that's not even mentioning the disgusting racial politics. I don't care what the news media says, this is entirely Clinton. Obama finally commented on it AFTER she started blaming the whole thing on him. And Johnson's comments are nothing short of SwiftBoating--especially since Clinton was THERE and made no effort to denounce or decry what he said.

If there are any Clinton supporters left that still have functioning brains in their heads, please explain to me why you still support this sleazebag, because I'm fully ready to vote for McCain (maybe even Romney) over her. This is less an attempted insult and more of question as to how you can consider Clinton a better presidential candidate than Obama--and if you don't know anything about Obama's record, I suggest you read up before you answer.
I have said it before and I will say it again...Hillary will NEVER maintain AA as a voting bloc.  NO DEMOCRAT can win the GE without it.  Espically Hillary who does not have the support of independants.

BTW it is really the Clinton campaign who wants to bring up race...because its the only thing they have left.  Obama never commentted on what she said..it was Black radio blogs and TV but she would rather try to make it about Obama to try to take the heat off of her and try to make it seem like he is running for "Black President".
Is anyone else tired of Hillary's out-of-left-field attacks?  It seems like every time there is a finger being pointed, it is on behalf of her campaign.  If you have low expectations, want to loose another GE, want to continue on the same path we're on... then vote for her.
Senator Obama did the right thing. He opposed the war. Once the war was underway, he supported our troops. This is not too difficult to understand.

Interesting that Senator Clinton would rather talk about Senator Obama's war record than her own. I think I know why - she chose the wrong side and now she is trying to hide from her record. The media may buy it, but I won't.
If Hillary is not behind these attacks why doesn't she tell her supporters that she will not tolerate this behavior?  Clinton dirty politics, that's what is tis.  I'm sick of it and don't want to see them back in the White House is this is how they plan to govern.
it's amazing how politician's are able to play the american people into believing crazy stories. Obama had nothing to do with HIllary's remarks and how they affected other people. I am not a fan of HIllary and do not think her comments were racially offensive. I do believe that anyone looking for race can find it, but to say Obama is plating the race card is just sick. In ways this is also a ploy by the Clinton campaign. Many say that Obama is able to transcend race because he does not play the race card. I do believe this is a ploy to lable him as doing so. I believe this is all panned. Remember Obama is no more Black than he is white. The American people have just been hit again by another political strtegy... Wake Up America !!!!

I cannot bring myself to vote for a person who is cold and ruthless about destroying what is good in her own party so that she can climb the bodies of the slain to reach her throne.

Personally, this about sums it up for anyone with any ounce of Respect for themselves.

Barack Obama for President
With a President Barack Obama we get both the inspiration and the President.
Obama is offering false hope.  He said he's been against the war from the start, yet, he continues to fund it even though he promised not to when he was cmpaigning for the senate in 2004.  If he couldn't deliver on his promise then, what makes us believe that he'll do it as president?
It's always better to have white folks rather then black folks take credit for all the civil rights legislation. Everyone knows that, except Barack apparently.
By now everybody should know how the Clintons are good at re-writing history. If Hillary Clinton says the sun is out, i'll double check such statement because both Bill and Hillary are habitual lier.
As a Democrat, if Hillary were to win the nomination, I would do anything and everything in my power to ensure that she does not win the presidency!

She is a disgrace to our party and her supporters make me sick.  It's pretty funny to see how the same people who have derided George Bush and the Republican machine for their politics of personal destruction(deservedly so) are the same people who are justifying any and all attacks by the Clinton machine.

Obama '08 or bust for the Democrats
Even Bill Clinton told African-American radio host Roland Martin this morning that what Bob Johnson said yesterday was "something between Bob Johnson and Barack Obama" -- hardly a vigorous defense of Johnson's statement yesterday denying that he was referring to Obama's drug use 25 years ago.
Johnson has made his Billions by peddling smut, sex and violence on his tevelison station.  He has exploited women and done a great damage for years to the youth in America. While Obama is working with Rap Artists to try to promote a more positive message for our children.  He does not want or need Johnson's endoresement or support.
'... “It was the White House proposal, not Mr. Hagel’s, that Mrs. Clinton supported, explaining in an Oct. 10, 2002, speech on the Senate floor that it was time to tell Saddam Hussein that ‘this is your last chance - disarm or be disarmed.’”...'

WHAT ?
Hillary is LYING ABOUT THE IRAQ WAR ?
Who'd a thunk it ?

Hillary is blowqing smoke to try and obscure the fact that she:
VOTED FOR WAR
SUPPORTED THE IRAQ WAR
SUPPORTED WAR AGAINST IRAN

AND LIED ABOUT IT ALL

Hillary Clinton, cold, calculating, dishonest, unethical, and divisive

Hillary simply said it took a President to get the civil rights bill passed, and that it was a beginning towards the realization of Dr King's dream.
There's nothing wrong with that statement at all.
It's unfortunate Mr. Obama doesn't think he can win on the issues, and feels that he needs to play the race card.
As for his record on the war in Iraq; if he opposed the war this long, then why did he vote to continue funding it, right up until last year? As I understand it, he also said he believed Husein had WMD, in spite of his oppostion back in '02.'
Either way, Obama had the luxuary of not being in the Senate when the vote to authorize the use of force was taken in 2002, and the luxuary of not representing the people who were attacked on 911.
Hillary has the burden and the responsibilty of both. She made a vote which she felt was in the best interests of the people who elected her, and she doesn't owe anybody an apology for that.
Presidents have to make decisions and stand by them, right or wrong. At least she didn't vote "present" like Obama does everytime a controversial issue comes up.

Obama will leave a residual force for some time.  His stance has been consistent.  His plan of 1 to 2 brigades a month will take a little over a year but a force will stay back to protect the embassy and to train Iraqi fighters. Also it you vote against funding the troops will be left in short supply. Voting to continue the funding should not necessarily be construed to supporting the war.
Asked about Mr. Johnson’s statement, Mr. Obama said, “What’s there to respond to?”

“I’m not going to spend all my time running down the other candidates, which seems to be what Senator Clinton has been obsessed with for the last month,” he said.

This excerpt was taken from NYT's article this morning.
Barack Obama continues to take the High road in this process. It is sad to see Hillary & her band of Misfit's continually bash other candidates, while Never explaining why she is the best candidate.Barack Obama's supporter's Relentlessly post all the thing's that he's done since his early twenties( accomplishment's, law's being passed, etc.)
Hillary's supporter's have'nt done this. Why is that?Is it because there's nothing Positive to be said of her so-called 35 years of Experience( 27 as living off the Taxpayer's)( any other female would be called a Welfare Queen).

DEMOCRAT"S do we really want to let her tear this Party apart, when the WHITEHOUSE is Our Goal, Not our Presumed Right.Only time will tell.

"DELUSIONAL THINKING BY COMMON SENSE AMERICAN'S IS OVER"
I have no problem with the Clinton campaign looking into Barack's voting record on the war. I have a serious problem with them not denouncing the comments made by Bob Johnson. She is trying to force Barack to make this a race issue. It's really disgusting that more Democrats have not spoken out against the Clintons.
Hillary and Barrack need to sequester themselves for 24 hours, without aids or handlers and make a committment to each other that the campaigns will simply not go after each other.  How novel that would be!!  "I am running a positive campaign about myself and believe that I'm the best choice for president.  That is all I'll say with regards to my opponent in this race."
Barack Obama is loosing credibility with me.   I thought his record was solid and untouchable.  But as it is turning out he is no more political than any other Washington Politician.
Sure would be a shame if all the backfighting lost two candidates. Is it really a national choice weekend or a stay and play affair?

Sharing the wealth (and the power) may mean some greater degree of cooperation, not dominance.
It just makes me ill to see how the press is turning this into a racial contest. It also makes me sick to see how obama is riding on the race card.  Shame on you sir. Lest we forget that Obama is half white. He was also raised by his maternal grandmother. If this be the case he was raised by white people. True? Where did this preaching from the stump come from? Politics?  I watched his speach of 2002. I thought at the time here is a man that will be President someday.  Not now. He needs to understand that we are smarter then we appear.  You have to be who you are.  Not just who you think will win the election. It's Okay Senator to be half white to...Come on now, talk about racists. I am now ashamed of Barack. He had my vote in 2002 in the long run.  Now I will never, ever, ever vote for this man. Do you think I am alone? Well I am not.
Your Social Security

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what .and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican.  Facts are Facts!!!

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program.  He  promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the Independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the
General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the reti rees Would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are Now receiving a Social Security check every month -- And then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of The money we paid to the Federal government to "put Away" -- you may be interested in the following:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically Controlled House and Senate.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, Began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, Even though they never paid a dime into it!

------------------------------------ ---- ------------------------------

Then, after  violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of Awareness will be planted and maybe changes will Evolve.  Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully Sure of what isn't so.

But it's worth a try.  How many people can YOU send this to?

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.
AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
  -Thomas Jefferson

For those of us who are paying attention, we know that Obama has never used race as a weapon, nor has he made any comments about the things that Mrs. Clinton says. I'd like to gag Sharpton as much as anyone else but in lieu of that impossibility, just keep in mind-Obama is not the one making the issue. He is keeping it a clean campaign and not even attacking Hillary. She is getting frustrated because her former 'in the pocket' constituency (the AfricanAm vote) is threatened so she blames Obama for the stuff she and Bill said. Its just another aspect of this whole race thing that I for one am tired of (as are many Americans). Get past it and run a clean campaign Mrs. Clinton.
Dear World,

We are re-establishing our morale authority in the world by bringing you Hillary Clinton.
Yes she was married to Bill Clinton who was impreached but remember that was overturned.
Yes Bill Clinton did bring disgrace to the White House by having, well let’s just say, inappropriate relations in the Oval office with another woman but in all fairness to Hillary she wouldn’t do that.

But enough about her husband he is not running Hillary is. She has 32 years of experience with Washington Politics she knows how to play the game.

That whole Universal Health Care fiacso that lead to a republican majority is behind her. The Republicans were bound to get back in.

This may not seem like change but she has 32 years of experience.

It is not suprising that the Obama campaign is distorting the MLK comments to make Hillary look racist because they know she has the black vote.  Look at her record and anyone can see that she is not a racist.  She said his dreams came to pass when a politician was able to pass law.  MLK was not a politician nor did he have the power to pass legislation to protect black people.
Hey Domenico,

In planet DC, did you guys just hear that Obama wants to leave a small contingent of troops back in Iraq? Has Clinton ever answered how many she wants to leave back.
Those supporting Senator Clinton:

Say it's because she's a woman (there's nothing wrong with that).  Say it's because she's a Clinton (he did some good things for our country).

But don't deny that her campaign isn't using precisely the same tactics that she has railed against for so many years (the "right-wing conspiracy") and the tactics that have so bitterly divided our nation the past 8 years.  You expose your own chauvanistic biases when you do.

Yesterday on MTP, Senator clinton spent more time twisting Senator Obama's record yesterday than she did talking about her own.  Anybody not blinded by loyalty to one campaign or the other would see that whenever Tim asked her about her own record, she quickly jumped to slamming Senator Obama's.

Having a woman President would be a HUGE step forward for America; it's a step that's long overdue.  Having this woman as President will lead to at least 4 more years of bitter division and the continued splitting of our country.  That's hardly a legacy for the first woman President to leave.  And yet, tigers don't change their stripes.  What we're seeing now is precisely what we will get.
Why is it that the reporters never report on the negative things that are said about Clinton by the Obama supporters?  Have you ever read any of their posts or attended one of their rallies...where Senator Clinton is essentially demonized and called a witch and Senator Obama does nothing to stop that and it is encouraged with all these young people.  What kind of uniting is that?

And why is nothing reported and made of the fact that Senator Clinton is the first woman to ever win a major party primary?  We hear a lot about Senator Obama being the first African American but I did not see any headlines for Senator Clinton's historic win in NH for that first female win...instead I saw comments here by Chuck Todd and segments by Chris Matthews and Keith O suggesting racism.

There is a cynical and sad story line that is being pushed by the MSM and people are noticing...you are not fooling us...

We will be watching how MSNBC hosts the debate tomorrow to see how fairly Senator Clinton is treated...
Hillary, is playing the Clinton game, again.  Do anything say anything just get the power back.  I used to be a supporting of both of them until this year.  I am wondering who is going to be the pres. him or her and what will they NOT do to get elected, because it seems that they want this pretty bad and are willing to do ANYTHING TO WIN.  GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!
Dante asks the question: "Do Bob Johnson and the Clintons thing the world is made up of idiots?"

Absolutely! The Clintons not only think that, they depend on it. It is the core of the voters they need to win this year.
It is very clear that Ms.Clinton is playing the dirty old political games and tricks of personal attacks, sleazy tactics, negative campaign- in short the old world political games(reminds of Bush against Gore and kerry) which has been played in previous elections; and then claiming to be a real agent of change. She is the one who has injected race issue into this campaign by trying to be controversial by  misrepresenting MLK/LBJ . Her strategy is clear now as she realizes that the black votes are anyway going to go to Senator Obama so she's playing this against the white votes as they're in the majority and hence being divisive and creating the bipartisanship she's famous for. It's a very sad thing that she is not confident of her own record and is vilifying and distorting his. So much for being an agent of change and being a uniter! Senator Obama has shown so much grace and integrity against her attacks its highly commendable. He's been very consistant in his views and stance against iraq war, and has a vision to take this country in a different direction. They say that he lacks in experience, and I disagree on this. The way he has led his life so far itself is an indication and proof that his life experiences resonates  with the American dream for middle class people like us who are a majority in this country. He's gone thru the same struggles and tribulations as we do to have good education, have a happy, strong, committed family life, making sacrifices as we do ,in short he embodies the aspirations of a commom individual like you and me.
America has got to give him a chance as we rarely come across people like him who has most of the qualities of a great leader and who can face all the challenges a new millenium demands where things no longer work the old ways of the politicians. We need to face it with fresh ideas, a bold new vision with a young energetic person and find ourselves a higher ground by electing an african-american to lead this country.
Wow, eventhough this is at the bottom of the lead article, the facts remain....Honesty is in jeopordy here...in my opinion Senator Obama caused all this race issues when he flatly denied his continuing support for the Iraq war.
I'm on the fence for my choice, but my biggest disappointment is the media as a whole, and how they continue to paint the Clintons in a very biasly negative way. And this is everyday, you Google Hillary Clinton News and you get pictures of Barack Obama, if you Google Barack Obama News, you get the same pictures. How slanted is that. All cable stations rely on commentators that spin the issues until the correct facts are uncovered or they have the correct facts and choose to use fragments of them to sensationlize issues for their own personal gain or pleasure. Shameful. Tim Russett is the worst of the bunh, I use to find Meet the Press interesting and now it appears to be a personal witch hunt for the Clintons as Mr Russett continues his personal attacks.
Is ratings that golden to forget about objectivity and worthiness. Oh forget about integrity, whatever sells at whatever costs....BAD FORM to say the least.
I hope clinton and obama keep making ugly comments about one another so edwards can win, clinton and obama both seem intent on helping people that don't need it, edwards is the only candidate that understands where the help is truly needed and has the plans to make appropriate changes
petty
and I'm not talking about Tom Petty who's a marvelous musician

maybe now people will take note that Clinton represents the "old Washington" (read as Bush-Lite, if you will) that Obama is trying to garner the forces to change.  The more she opens her mouth--you go, girl!...and worse...the more Bill opens his mouth, the more sh** comes out!

And wasn't the Equal Rights Amendment supposed to fix this b.s.?  Oh, I guess not!  Both racism and sexism is alive and well and living in Washington DC!
Here we go again with the not so obvious attacks on obama's character  Bob Jonhson should be ashamed of his comments not just the comments but the fact that after say what he said that he tried to fix it with a lie everyone with a brain knew what he was refering to And that to me was a low blow and came off very Rude and uncaused For  He should be proud That a black man actully Has a chance to be elected  !! BET just lost a proud Afican american viewer
Once again it seems to be more of the media spinning the race story by promoting only partial statements and using (intentionally by many in the media) them out of context for the sole purpose of stirring the pot and creating a story.  Chris Matthews along with a number of other talking heads have been doing this since NH.  They appear to be intentionally trying to create stories out of nothing for the purpose of ratings or influencing the outcome, and unfortunately they may be succeeding because many of the uninformed public live off of newsbytes and never get the whole story.  Once again it's the media trying to create the news rather than report it.
Obama is as nasty as most of you say Clinton is but you do not see it - you are blind.  Obama is a master manipulator using rhetoric.  People are fallling for his BS because of their own prejudices against women.
Bob Johnson's comments about Obama were outrageous. He and Hillary are the ones insulting people's intelligence. He makes an obvious reference to drug use in his remarks and then later says he was talking about Obama's community organzing? That doesn't even make sense.

Yes, thanks to the Clinton's and their underhanded, dirty tricks mentality there might very well be damage done to the Democratic party this year. A fair fight is one thing and let people choose for themselves, but the Clintons have no intention of fighting fair. I'm sure they haven't even scratched the surface of the lies and manipulations they are willing to employ to defeat Obama. I personally don't think the Republicans are half as vicious as Hillary. If he survives her, he can survive anything.

PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Barack Obama claims to run a clean campaign, but someone in his camp took a swipe at Hillary Clinton through the candidate's theme song.

As Obama and his wife, Michelle, strolled triumphantly into his victory party in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 3, Jay-Z's "99 Problems" was blaring. In it, Jay raps, "I got 99 problems, but a Bitch ain't one."
Clinton.
I was really shocked by how low the Clintons would go by bringing on Bob Johnson. Her campaign is getting almost like the Republican modus operandi of mud slinging. Until that I was going to vote for Hillary, now I AM VOTING for Barack.
Clinton got teary eyed in Iowa because not only did she come in second place - she came in third place.  That had to have been a big blow to her ego. So the tears were not sincere. Especially since she thinks she has an entitlement to being the president.  Also, I feel she was very disrespectful on Meet the Press to Tim Russert.  He sat there and very attentively listened to her but when he tried to get a word in she talked over him.  When people talk over you that means they don't want to hear what you have to say and it also means they are lying. Clinton may have the experience (and she should - she's 100 years older than Obama) but she doesn't have good judgement.  And we all know Bill Clinton lied when he said he didn't have sexual relations when he was using the Whitehouse as a Whorehouse.
Hilary Clinton won New Hampshire by deploying crockodile tears.  She won her New York senate election by projecting herself as a victim of husband’s sexual indiscretions.  Bill Clinton could not run for president in 1988 due to bimbo eruptions.  Hilary took care of it by digging up dirts on women her husband sexually abused.  At the height of Hilary Clinton’s sleaze, she claimed that right-wing conspiracy was attempting to bring down her husband’s presidency.  Here again, Hilary is attempting to win nomination through race baiting.  Let us review Hilary’s current antics.

Obama’s campaign’s mantra is about hope.  Hilary counters that Obama is raising false hope.  Obama responded that JFK used hope to put men in the moon and King used hope to bring about change in civil right.  Hilary’s contention is that Obama is a talker and not a doer.  To amplify her point, she went to Fox News to offer analogy.

Hilary posits that without LBJ who signed civil right into law as president, King’s dream would have come to naught.  Many Black leaders started taking exception to her rewriting of history that intends to diminish the role played by King, Hilary is now saying that Obama is distorting her words.

Hilary’s game plan is simple.  She wants to make this a race issue so that even if Obama were to win SC, his win will be tainted by race and alienate white voters in Feb. 5 primaries.  Obama’s game plan all along is to win Iowa and put paid to the fear in African American communities if whites are ready to vote for him in the general election.  So who is playing race card in reverse?  It is Hilary Clinton.
