Bill defends lawsuit over NV caucus sites

Posted: Monday, January 14, 2008 7:56 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli and NBC's Abby Livingston, Sarah Demarest, and Mark Murray
LAS VEGAS -- Bill Clinton today defended a state NEA-backed lawsuit over caucus sites, saying that all Democrats should play by the same rules.

Clinton was asked about the suit this morning by a student at Green Valley High School, located in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson. He said that, in essence, state Democrats made "a special rule only for" members of the Culinary union, the most powerful in the state, to be able to caucus at their work sites rather than at their home precincts. "I think the rules oughta be the same for everybody," he said. "I question why you would ever have a temporary caucus site and say only the people that work there -- i.e. the people that we know are going to vote in a certain way or we think they will -- should be able to caucus here. I think that we oughta make it more possible for everybody to vote."

(Of course, we'll ask again: If the Culinary Workers had endorsed Hillary, would there even be a lawsuit? And if so, would Bill be defending it?)

When asked next about the Culinary Workers endorsing Obama over Hillary, Clinton claimed that the campaign's voter outreach found that many members actually support his wife. "It will be interesting if they will be able to do so because you have to vote in public [at the caucus]," he said. "I believe if the test is who's got the best voting record for labor the answer is she does."

Speaking later at an event in Las Vegas, Clinton again emphasized the downside of a caucus rather than a primary. He claimed that polling taken in Nevada since Hillary's victory in the New Hampshire primary showed her with a steady lead among state Democrats, but that caucuses "may not be about public support." He implored the audience to "give voice to the majority." "Don't let other people out organize you," he said.

Bill Clinton is on the second day of a trip to the Silver State, which he called "a special, unusual, wonderful place." Chelsea Clinton joined him for the event in Henderson this morning, and he actually invited students to ask her questions as well as him. No one asked Chelsea a question, but she did come in handy when one of the students standing behind Clinton on stage became faint during the event. Chelsea walked her off the stage, and then rejoined the students who remained as they then sat, rather than stood, behind the former president.

There was simply no lawsuit until the endorsement went to Obama. In fact, the Clinton campaign *openly endorsed* the Nevada policy before they lost the endorsement. Unbelievable.
It's interesting that Mr. Bill (I actually voted for him) and his wife are tag teaming Obama. I was pro Hillary at the beginning but have found myself going to vote for Obama based upon his principles and strong ability to show that he doesn't need to be negative to run against his opponent. Their has been plenty of talk about Obama vs. Hillary "the race card". When in actuallity he hasn't said a word about being black or competing against a woman. I think Clinton campaign needs to re-check their strategy, start worring about the support from the American people and not how they're going to attack Obama's character. Hillary also needs to watch how she relates to certain "groups". Check out this link regarding her "chips and guacomole" remark. Remember everyone. To check all your sources for information. The truth is out there.
January 19th happens to be a Saturday, and that Saturday happens to be one of Las Vegas' biggest Saturdays.  A lot of people in the working class will have to go to work.  A lot of them are minorities.  This gives them a chance to vote rather than be disenfranchised.  It's my opinion that Bill wasn't suppose to comment on the lawsuit.
Your bad, Senator C.  Now we got your number.  You should have thought before getting hoof in mouth disease!
Now all of a sudden when you realise that many who are African American and were sitting on the sidelines trying to make a decision, are leaning toward Senator Obama, you call for finding "common ground".  Too little....too late.  I don't want any president of mine being so divisive.
You need to muzzle your husband and those African Americans who have taken your bait to wrongly blame Senator Obama for your gaffe, while you try to climb above the fray that YOU created.
Get a grip and get back to the issues at hand.
"When asked next about the Culinary Workers endorsing Obama over Hillary, Clinton claimed that the campaign's voter outreach found that many members actually support his wife."

And we are suppose to believe him.  rrriiiiiight.
Bill lies like others breath air so, I take what he says with a grain of salt.
Funny how the lawsuit went forth AFTER the endorsement.
Take a look at this regarding voters(scroll down to Nevada):

AND THIS:
Letter from Nevada Teachers Opposing Caucus LawsuitJanuary 14, 2008
Ms. Lynn Warne

President

Nevada State Education Association

3511 East Harmon Avenue

Las Vegas, NV 89121

Dear President Warne:

As teachers in Nevada, and members of the Nevada State Education Association, we are deeply dismayed that our union is trying to stop our students’ parents from caucusing on Saturday. We urge them in the strongest terms to drop this lawsuit immediately.

Many of our students are Hispanic Americans and come from low-income families. Their parents are construction workers, McDonald’s employees, and other shift workers on the strip, who work around the clock, and won’t have time to travel to their caucus locations on Saturday. That’s why the state Democratic committee set up nine at-large precinct locations on the strip – to provide nearby caucus locations for Nevadans who otherwise wouldn’t be able to caucus.

These at-large locations were approved back in March of 2007, and no one raised any concerns about them for nearly a year. But now, our union is filing a lawsuit making the baseless charge that these at-large caucus locations are discriminatory, when the fact is they were set up to make sure as many Nevadans could caucus as possible.

This lawsuit is all about politics. It’s widely known that many of our union’s top officials support Senator Clinton and now that the Culinary Workers Union has endorsed Senator Obama, they’re using our union to stop Nevadans from caucusing for Senator Obama.

We never thought our union and Senator Clinton would put politics ahead of what’s right for our students, but that’s exactly what they’re doing. As teachers, and proud Democrats, we hope they will drop this undemocratic lawsuit and help all Nevadans caucus, no matter which candidate they support.

Sincerely,

And three of the plantiffs were on the board that  approved the caucus at large venues at the casinos.
Do you like how the Clintons behave? You want four more years of this crap?
It's absolutely disgraceful that NBC has taken it on itself to censor Kucinich's ideas. What are the 3 candidates who voted for the patriot act, funding for Iraq, bigger deficits, and military spending going to debate? Personal attacks? Is that what you're into? Certainly not issues. Some debate. Let Kucinich speak.
More Clinton hypocrisy.  The ironic thing is that by endorsing this lawsuit (actually they are the source of it) the Clintons are blocking the Latino vote.  Latinos are a key voting block necessary to win in Nevada.  And then what spill over effect will there be in California?  Sometimes I think they act (and speak) before they think.  Is this any way to run a campaign?  Is this any insight into how they would run the country?
Obama '08
Former President's behavior only reminds me of the
famous Quote of Dale Carnegie " two men looked out
through the prison  bars, one saw the MUD other saw
the STARS." You the Voting public has to decide, who
is hateful? who wants the power so badly ? Who is dividing the Democratic party for their selfish needs?
Who will bring the country together? Who is the leader?
In history all the good leaders are also the best
Orators, Which clearly Mr. Obama is.I rest my case.
Its also funny that when one of the Teachers Union people was asked, by Chris Mathews about "what teachers would be working on Saturday night", he came back with some poor excuse about a bunch of staff having to be at the schools because they are polling places. And then when asked why they waited so long to file a complaint, when this issue was approved almost a year ago, he claimed that they just found out about it!  Then of course it comes out that 2 or 3 of the people that are filing these suites where actually ones that approved it a year ago!  And of course they are Hillary backers!   I myself am a teacher, and i live in Iowa, and I did participate in the Caucuses, and my precinct was in a school and let me tell you, there where NO teachers "working".  And if he is talking about janitors or something then he has got to be JOKING!!!   And of course old Bill Clinton is out putting his foot in his mouth again and acting like a major a@#.  This of course doesn't surprise me a bit, after all we are talking about THE CLINTONS!!!!!  A DISGRACE to the WHITE HOUSE and AMERICA!!!  PLEase America don't put this kind of garbage back into the White House!
Funny but does anyone here get it how we are influence and the who are the people influencing us. Are you influenced by Obama or Clinton or Edwards because of them...or are you influenced by the media coverage of them.
So Clinton got to run because she became famouse as first lady...then Obama got to run because ot that speech in the '04 convention..right. So I ask again, are we influenced by the candidate or by that candidates popularity. If not than why would those two early primary states be so important in  launching some people.

I feel that Nevada should vote independantly. And if voting is allowed at one work place than it should be allowed at every workplace that has people scheduled to work...eg Airports and hospital...oh and fire depts too..and malls..and grocery stores and corner pharmacies and gas stations...and laundrmats(thats an idea)
I want to second what others have pointed out, the Clintons and their backers, and the national Democrats, and the state Democrats, all signed off on the plan before the endorsement. It was voted on, everybody thought it was okay then, but now...
Hillary Clinton is not responsible for putting forth the lawsuit. It is about all the other voters in Nevada who don't think it's fair that THEY do not get a Temporary Caucus Site set up in every single one of their workplaces like the culinary workers do. Whoever heard of such a thing? Why would you single out certain workplaces and grant them their own personal caucus site in their place of work, but  not afford the same luxury to EVERYONE? It does seem to be an unfair practice, and if these were endorsers of Hillary instead of Obama, you would all be applauding that very same lawsuit! This lawsuit did NOT come from Hillary, it is a disagreement between people who live in the state, so stop trying to sling more mud!!! Hillary '08
The timing of this lawsuit is so suspect. Talk about disenfranchisement - and the Clintons are the ones doing it using some perverted sense of logic that they'd easily be on the other side of if it benefited their campaign.
I can't believe the Clintons are really this Rove-like.  I was one of their biggest fans in the 90's.  Was I wrong about them all along or has ambition (and Bill's guilt) led to them to act this way?
Bill has lost it.

After all this silliness he will be lucky to get $1 for a speaking engagement.

He has all about gaining power at any cost, he might as well be a republican.

Say no to a Clinton third term.  Its the constitution stupid.
Why is everyone so upset?

Just wait until tomorrow; the Clinton campaign will be back with a clarification on what Bill REALLY meant.   Also, everyone who speaks English and who thought he was endorsing the disenfranchisement of hard-working Americans will realize they once again misinterpreted what he said.  And the die-hards will be telling the rest of us that we're wrong again.

How do people still support this circus?  Seriously.  Do women really want this woman to be the crowning achievement of the woman's movement?

There are so many extraordinary female CEOs, Senators, and Governors in America who should be in line to lead this country before Senator Clinton.  Why do we have to put up with this crew?  I realize there are many women out there who believe that voting for Senator Clinton is "showing the boys who's boss."   But shouldn't we all be asking ourselves, "is this who we want as the standard-bearer and the prime example of what women can achieve?"
I think Obama's response is actually pretty funny - brilliant and funny.

Hillary and Bill both put their feet in their own mouths but tried to blame Obama for the uproar that their comments caused, even though he really tried to stay out of it. Remember, it was members of the black community who were calling into radio programs to say they were offended by the remarks, not Obama.

Obama lets them stew for a while, as the black vote starts peeling off of the Clintons, then after a few days, he steps in to take the high road after the damage is done. But, the important thing is that the damage was done BY the Clintons, to themselves.

It’s not Obama’s job to jump to their flippin’ defense, especially after the way they treated him in December, with three of their staff caught spreading those "Obama is a radical Muslim" emails, and Hillary’s NH co-chair, Shaheen, bringing up his drug use. And now, Hillary goes on MTP before the Nevada caucus to totally lie about his record.

I don’t feel sorry for the Clintons. You reap what you sew.

surprise, surprise ... another load of crap from the clintons. those caucus sites aren't just for casino worklers; ANYONE working within a 2-1/2 mile radius can go there. and the teachers' union? last i checked, teachers don't even work on saturdays. so what's the point of their suit again? oh, yeah - sour grapes 'cause they thought they had the culinary workers' endorsement sewn up!

lordy, what scumbags.
I wish Hillary Clinton would go away and take her Senior Citizen Husband with her.......

This is not the time.....this is not the place.........We have dyer things going on in America.....And only thing the Clintons are thinking about our the Clintons...They are completely obsess with POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It pisses me off, that's what it does.  And honestly, the more and more Bill talks, the less respect I have for that man.  I used to think he was a great president, a great public speaker, a great guy.  Now, he's turned into this grouchy old man that has become quite the liability for Hillary's campaign.

Despite if you support Hillary or not, you have to question the timing of this lawsuit.  Sure, some argue that it is unfair.  But one, they've had six months to file a lawsuit.  But they decide to do it 2 days after the Culinary Union endorses Obama.  Second, it's sad to see teachers from the teachers union write an open letter, condeming the actions of their president based on politics (read the open letter on Kos).  And third, if this was held in the middle of hte week and they made caucusing easier for not only the workers on the strip, but also teachers, I'd be all for it.

Hillary calls a truce on the race thing because it didn't work out.  She couldn't make him look like a typical politician because he didn't let this issue get to him.  Now, she is going to allow unions to fight and bicker and drag not only Obama's, but her name to the ground?  Pathetic

There is something to be said about D.C. politics...living in the city, it's pretty much all you are surrounded with.  People who live outside and have never lived in the District can't quite comprehend when I say that these moves by Hillary and her campagin are right out of traditional, Karl Rove-esque D.C. politics
This whole thing is going to divide the democratic party and we'll lose the White House again.  All for egos....I am sick of all of this.  I was going to vote for Hillary, but this is the dumbest assed move I've ever seen for somebody who's supposed to KNOW how to be a politician.  (Bill too).
I know this is somewhat of a special circumstance, but has any other former president been so active in a campaign before?  I don't recall GHWB being anywhere near this active for GWB.  Does this guy have any respect for the office he once held?  Day after day, he appears to indicate that the answer is an emphatic "no".  After they repeatedly show themselves to be slime balls talking out both sides of their mouth (and both sides are lying!), how can anyone want more of this in the White House???
Reading the comments of "Hillary Haters" I feel that no matter what she did, they will view it as negative...it is matter of perspective.  In my humble opinion, when she talks about her 35 years of experience, she is talking about her involvement in some or the other cause ever since her school/college days.  I believe that just like true wisdom does not come from how many degrees one has achieved but how much experience in life one has and what he/she has learned with that experience...in the same way, one does not necessarily hold a certain office to have experience.  Besides in her case, she has proven that she quite capable of that (in her capacity as a senator) and even more importantly, she comes with the greatest advisor (Bill Clinton) on her side...one who balanced the Budget left behind by the 12 years of republican administration...and left the office with the country back in surplus...all that wasted by the current administration.  Had the republicans left Bill alone to do his work, he could have done so much more, but that would have been contrary to republican agenda of making rich richer (hypocrites) that is why they kept him distracted with all sort of lawsuits and the impeachment issues in his second term.  I consider myself an independent and just for the clarification, I am NOT a Clinton lover, but I like to give credit where it belongs.  Besides, I do not like to sit and watch people bash another person just because they have formed a baseless bias against a person.  To further clarify, my favorite candidate for the office is John McCain the only candidate with integrity, convictions and honesty...as much as there are number of issues I disagree with him as well.  Besides him I consider pretty much all republicans as greedy for money and power, with no heart for the less fortunate...believing in "LIFE" but not respecting it once it is born...quick to take away school meals at the same time giving the tax breaks to the rich resulting in once again the largest deficit in American History.  People loose their homes while Exxon Mobile announces the largest profit ever of $40 Billion. Ending I just want to add, no one is perfect but in spite of Hillary's faults I believe that she believes that she can make a difference.  I am a man but I wouldn't mind finally seeing a woman as a President.  Several so called third world countries (Myanmar, India, Pakistan, England, Bangladesh, Indonesia...) have beaten us on this front...it is time and I think we have a strong woman candidate.  I personally do not see race as a big issue therefore do not have same sympathetic view for Obama, although I like the guy...quite charismatic...however lacking experience.....  Peace...
Obama will probably end up losing this race for democrats with his obsession with the race card.  I viewed and then read the entire transcript of the Meet the Press from Sunday.
There is nothing even remotely racist being said by Senator Clinton or President Clinton.
What a bunch of losers
Watch Video response by Hillary.

"The caucus idea is for neighbors to get together to argue and talk about their choices," she said. "The problem is that if you have a limited period of time, as I pointed out long before anything happened in Nevada, you're going to essentially leave people out who can't be there during those one to two-hour periods of time."

Should Caucuses be held near workplaces or in home precincts?

http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=1523

.
The statements coming out of Bill's mouth lately make "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" look downright truthful in comparison.  Yeah, Bill, everyone should play by the same rules -- you know, the ones everyone agreed to way back at the beginning?

If Bill and the teacher's union were so concerned about the caucus rules, why did they fail to speak up back when the event was being planned?  Once the state party leaders decided to conduct a caucus, it is automatically unfair to a lot of people who cannot attend at the apppointed hour or are physically unable to participate.  That said, Nevada decided it wanted a caucus and no one objected to any of it until after the union endorsements for Obama.

"State Democratic Party officials disputed the lawsuit’s contentions.

“This has been a fully transparent process,” party spokeswoman Kirsten Searer said. “These rules have been approved by the Democratic National Committee and the campaigns have been fully informed throughout this process, which started in May.”

(snip)

{Lynne Warne} acknowledged that she did not approach the state party about the problem.

“We’re approaching them now,” she said.

The Nevada State Education Association has not endorsed any candidate, Warne said.

The other plaintiffs are Dwayne Chesnut, John Cahill, Vicky and John Birkland, and Patricia Montgomery.

Some of them were active backers of Sen. Dina Titus’ 2006 bid for governor. Titus, of Las Vegas, has endorsed Clinton..."

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2008/jan/12/voting-stripa-no-no-suit-says/

One of the comments posted to the LV sun article pretty much nails it:

"The plaintiffs were made fully aware of this on 11/3/2007 a their State Central Committee meeting and said absolutely nothing.

Most think we didn't provide enough delegates to the 9 Strip sites. The Strip sites were actually announced way, way back at the launch of the Nevada Caucus Commission, and all of the plaintiffs were in attendance and silent and the DNC approved.

Lynn Warne admits not talking to any of us first before filings. That alone will toss this.

This is a party meeting, not an election, where the US has no jurisdiction to provide injunctive relief. They may have had more success in District Court here, but still this will be tossed.

This has HRC minions all over it using persons in elected party leadership, all on the SCC, who could have voiced their concerns on 11/3/2007, or way back when this was announced in 2006!..."
MSNBC, the creator of non stories.  Everyone knows a caucus is undemocratic.  What MSNBC fails to report, what a surprise, is that those that would vote in those "special" locations where the union can "intimidate" its members to voting its way gets some where close to 6 - 1 voting power.  Meaning each vote counts 6 times more than any other location.  How bout that sexist Chris Matthews reports on that?  If Obama wanted everyone to be able to vote, why not have a primary?  No bother. MSNBC will be changing their tune when Hillary wins Nevada, ties SC and destroys Nobama in Florida.  Better get the race card warmed up again.
Let Kucinich talk.
actually Cathy - som info you may want to have:

(a) The attorneys who filed the suit in LV are all Hillary backers - and it was championed by Rory Reid (Harry's son) who is the Clinton Nevada Chair
(b) Many letters have been written by union members (you can go to the LV Sun) listing their names - to their union management objecting to the Teachers Union instituting this lawsuit (and that the Union principals have all endorded Senator Clinton so this suit is strictly political)
(c) Last MARCH 2007 - all the members of the Nevada Democratic party voted on the caucus sites and signed off on them -- so this is not new info (the only NEW info was that the Culinary Union did not endorse Sen Clinton as she expected)
AND LASTLY:
(4) even if all the above was set aside - and even if other parties would have liked additional caucus sites - why would disenfranchising one group - on one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year - be something any fair minded people would object to

oh and yeah-- MONDAY is the legal MLK holiday and the schools are closed -- they are also closed Saturday --so why is the teachers union of Nevada suing for on site caucus locations so their janitors can participate in the caucuses?? The caucus us two hours 11 - 1 Sat morning/aft -- and as no school till the following Tuesday - a more reasonable way to allow the janitors to vote (and less costly to the state that additional hastily arranged caucus locations) would be to give them those two hours off --

The schools would still be clean and ready to go by the following Tuesday

There is no logic to this lawsuit - which is why it will be dismissed assuming the Judge it is assigned to is not in the "pocket" of the Reid family in Nevada

Thought you'd like the facts
Hans---you need to read what was said before and then after MTP. Sir, you need to be a bit more thorough with your research...again, Americans need to read more and listen to the media less.

1.Obama's name was mentioned by Clinton in regards to the MLK comment, if you check the ACTUAL FACTS,  he could not have distorted her comments,  because he hadn't said anything about them.
Hillary is playing the race card and gender card and it's pathetic.
Now, I do feel her comments were misconstrued by the 2 other (non-Obama affiliated individuals...but Obama had nothing to do with that.
I'd like to see Hillary come out and admit that she screwed up and misspoke by mentioning Obama with that staement...but I'm not holding my breath.

2. Bill Clinton is not running for president. He needs to simmer-down with all this rhetoric. He's not only ruining his legacy, he's causing a major turn for voter against Hillary. Bill...Keep you nose out of it...This is not your campaign.

3. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT.

Everyone needs to understand the series of events as things are happening, the media is doing a horrible job at clipping bits and pieces of speeches and footage to create good spin for the debate.

Read what really happened and you'll agree, just as I convinced my sister...Hillary is lying...Obama is honest.

OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT....HONESTY, DIGNITY, RESPECT. HUMANISM, that's what I want to see return to Washington, not more political game-playing and nonsense.
Hans - in real life the person who picks the fight is usually considered the one at fault --

In this case: Senator Obama has run a campaign devoid of race - he is not Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton -- he is in the unfortunate spot of being portrayed as "not black enough" for some and "too black" for others --

Senator Obama has not commented on Senator Clinton's statement other than to say she likely mis spoke

This evening Senator Obama - once again - took the high road asking for a "truce" to get back to real issues --

In rocket speed time: the Clinton campaign sent out a memo also asking for a cessation to the conversation

The difference is that as the Clinton memo was being distributed; another Clinton surrogate; Charles Rangel of NY (which as a New Yorker who liked him really upsets me) came out calling Obama "stupid" and in another line "dumb". He also said that Obama put his teenage drug experiences into a book (written in 1996) just to sell books.

So Hans: you decide who has the clean hands in this dust up that threatens to tear the democratic party apart --

The campaign whose surrogates include: Charles Rangel, Bob Johnson, Bob Kerrey,Andrew Young, Joe Wilson, Billy Shaheen -- need we go on

or the campaign of Senator Obama

Perhaps you would rethink your post with all this info (all readily available back up on the web)

Good Luck finding hope
hans, please put down the kool-aid. obama NEVER said anything about any of the comments until he was asked about it sunday. he's NEVER made an issue out of the many off-the-mark things the clinton cronies have said about him (shaheen, kerrey, cuomo, the "imaginary black friend" thing, etc.), so whatever race card your alluding to came out of the clinton's tainted deck. and since you're in nevada, what do you have to say about the subject at hand: your candidates' sleazy attempt to block thousands of nevadans to vote AFTER the caucus site plan was approved 'cause she didn't get an endorsement she thought was entitled to her? hmmm? talk about sore losers!
If Hillary is so pro labor then why does she have no qualms about hiring a union buster to be her chief strategist.

nobama
I am sure the people who run MSNBC would be thrilled to know they have the power to determine the election process and how it is conducted--

also: as I live in Florida - the Dem Nat'l Party stripped us of our delegates counting when the State Party moved the Primary up a week before Feb 5th -- so like Michigan -- Florida primary will be a hollow victory as no delegates will count on the democratic side

When we get to the Nat'l Election Florida will count as we elect President Obama

nobama makes nosense
I'm glad to see that there are people out there that are actually following politics and voicing their outrage to the Clintons' latest antics.  I used to support Bill a lot, but now, I look at him as a pathetic man, desperate for his wife to become President so that he can tack on to his legacy.  Of course, my perception of Hillary gets worse and worse as she continues to allow her surrogates to lower the quality of this election by speaking half-truths or flat out lies. Seriously, Obama can run such a clean campaign, and every week or so, Hillary or Bill (or some surrogate) seem to make comments that the media "misinterprets"...how can that be? Either they are in desperate need of someone to script their responses OR they're simply playing Rove politics because running a smear campaign is easier than running a clean one.  I am just so tired of this kind of politics.  It is time for America to bid farewell to the Roves/Bushes/Clintons once and for all.

I'll also add that as a woman, I am ashamed that "our" first candidate for the Presidency is so sleazy.  My only comfort is that her over-eagerness to fight for the sake of fighting has shown its ugly face yet again, and Independents and Republicans are also watching so she'll never be the first President for sure regardless of who the Dems nominate.
its in public market.  Barrack Obama's used of crack
is in his published book. It's generally public. Why can't we ask him about his usage of cocaine? When was the last time he used it? Did he sell some to his fellow
junkies? As regards to his economic stimulus plan, of distributing 250$ to each of the worker. Yeepeee. Is is this in cold cash? In kind-credit? Or in the form of food stamps? This is great. This will propel
the manufacturing sectors to create jobs, produce more, and  provide high-source of stimulant to the
drug addicts, with additional money to buy crack, thanks to the government and Senator Barrack. No more
crack.
Senator Barrack Obama. I can not find any convincing
idea, plan, and or achievement that he would be voted as
President of the most powerful country in the world. with secret  case wherever he goes ready to detonate
our missiles. Is he ready to be entrusted with this?
Hmmmpp. looks like he has still milk in his mouth,
its in public market.  Barrack Obama's used of crack

I think we should all just accept the comparison that Sen. Clinton so clearly made.  For the remainder of the campaign, I will view Barack Obama as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and I will view Hillary Clinton as President Lyndon Johnson.

I'll be voting for Dr. King.  The time is now.

As a republican woman, I am truly insulted by the Hillary haters including the Media and the roles they continue to play to beat her up at every corner. Tim Russert, Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, etc. etc. whom I used to watch and listen to, are shameless examples of just that. No one is really focusing on the candidates economic and foreign policy plans, no one is truly scrutinizing the issues but all are jumping on the ludicrous ban wagon of sensationalism as a law suit in Nevada, race, gender, tears, fairy tale, speeches, etc...always going for the tangential and inflammatory sound bites that have no value in helping choose a leader of our country.
None of that helps advance our understanding of what the plans are to cure an ailing economy, a messy foreign policy, the withdrawal of our troops in Iraq or how we will face the threat of another war in Iran. The Media continues to air on the absurd and advance sensationalism rather than analyze and contrast the stand of candidates on issues that affect the life of Americans. All you have to do is watch Hardball or Morning Joe since the primaries started, or even Meet the Press MSNBC video line up which for the first time does not have the Hillary entire show and still has John McCain's interview as the opening etc... I never wanted to believe that gender had anything to do with a country that is supposed to be progressive and promotes equal rights, unfortunately it is the case and the Media that is overwhelmingly male dominated is among the worst culprit here. Voters have time and again refused to follow the Media lead on candidates who ar unfairly promoted based on the Media preference, check McCain in 00. 'It is the Issues Stupid' not how great a speech is!
Its Carville who writes the garbage for the Clintons, you can bet that when they get to Vegas!!!

HRC, was a mistake and remains a babbling lunatic! I would vote for for David Duke before another four years of clinton horse sheeit!!!

Get your facts straight. Obama's campaign issued the following memo on Saturday:

Subject: MUST READ: Key S.C. figure takes issue with Clintons

SHUCK AND JIVE

Clinton Supporter Andrew Cuomo, Referring To Obama, Said "You Can't Shuck
And Jive At A Press Conference. All Those Moves You Can Make With The Press
Don't Work When You're In Someone's Living Room." Clinton-supporting New
York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said the thing that's great about New
Hampshire is that you have to go out and meet people rather than "shuck and
jive" through press conferences there. Cuomo said of New Hampshire on an
Albany radio station: "It's not a TV-crazed race. Frankly, you can't buy
your way into it. You can't shuck and jive at a press conference. All those
moves you can make with the press don't work when you're in someone's living
room." [Newsday, 1/11/08]

MARTIN LUTHER KING / LYNDON JOHNSON COMPARISON

Clinton, Criticizing Obama For Promising "False Hope" Said That While MLK
Jr. Spoke On Behalf Of Civil Rights, President Lyndon Johnson Was The One
Who Got Legislation Passed: "It Took A President To Get It Done." Clinton
rejoined the running argument over hope and "false hope" in an interview in
Dover this afternoon, reminding Fox's Major Garrett that while Martin Luther
King Jr. spoke on behalf of civil rights, President Lyndon Johnson was the
one who got the legislation passed. Hillary was asked about Obama's
rejoinder that there's something vaguely un-American about dismissing hopes
as false, and that it doesn't jibe with the careers of figures like John F.
Kennedy and King. "Dr. King's dream began to be realized when President
Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act," Clinton said. "It took a president to
get it done." [Politico, 1/7/08; Video]

Clinton Introducer Said JFK Gave Hope, But Was Assassinated. Clinton
introducer: "If you look back, some people have been comparing one of the
other candidates to JFK and he was a wonderful leader, he gave us a lot of
hope but he was assassinated and Lyndon Baines Johnson actually did all his
work and got the republicans to pass all those measures." [HRC, Dover, NH,

NELSON MANDELA

Bill Clinton Implied Hillary Clinton Is Stronger Than Nelson Mandela. "I
have been blessed in my life to know some of the greatest figures of the
last hundred years. [...] I go to Nelson Mandela's birthday party every year
and we're still very close. [...] But if you said to me, 'You've got one last
job for your country but it's hazardous and you may not get out with life
and limb intact and you have to do it alone except I'll let you take one
other person, and I had to pick one person whom I knew who would never
blink, who would never turn back, who would make great decisions [...] I would
pick Hillary.'" [ABC News, 1/7/08; Audio]

DRUG USE

Clinton's NH Campaign Chair Raised The Youthful Drug Use Of Obama And Said
It Would "Open The Door To Further Queries On The Matter." Clinton's
Campaign Issued A Statement Distancing Themselves From Shaheen's Comments
And Shaheen Issued A Statement Saying That He "Deeply Regret[s] The
Comments." The Democratic presidential race took on a decidedly nasty and
personal turn, with the New Hampshire co-chair for Clinton, raising the
youthful drug use of Obama. Shaheen said Obama's having been so open -- as
opposed to then-Gov. George W. Bush, who refused to detail his past drug use
during his 2000 presidential campaign -- will "open the door to further
queries on the matter. It'll be, 'When was the last time? Did you ever give
drugs to anyone? Did you sell them to anyone?'" Shaheen said. "There are so
many openings for Republican dirty tricks. It's hard to overcome." By the
end of the day, Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer had issued a
statement asserting that "these comments were not authorized or condoned by
the campaign in any way." And Shaheen himself issued a statement: "I deeply
regret the comments I made today and they were not authorized by the
campaign in any way." [ABC News, 12/12/07]

Mark Penn, In Trying To Defend His Campaign Over Bill Shaheen's Obama Drug
Use Comments, Used The Word "Cocaine," Drawing A Rebuke From Edwards Adviser
Joe Trippi. Mark Penn, defending the Clinton campaign in light of Bill
Shaheen's comments about Obama's drug use, repeatedly referenced Obama's
cocaine use. Edwards adviser Joe Trippi accused Penn of dropping the word
"cocaine" deliberately. Mark Penn said "Well, I think we have made clear
that the -- the issue related to cocaine use is not something that the
campaign was in any way raising. And I think that has been made clear. I
think this kindergarten thing was a joke after Senator." Joe Trippie
responded and said "I think he just did it again. He just did it again. ...
This guy's been filibustering on this. He just said cocaine again."

FAIRY TALE

Donna Brazile Lashed Into Bill Clinton For Comparing Obama To A "Fairy Tale"
And Said "It's An Insult... As An African-American" And That His Tone And
Words Are "Very Depressing." Donna Brazile lit into Bill Clinton over his
insulting comments of Obama, where he called him a "fairy tale" and said "I
could understand his frustration at this moment. But, look, he shouldn't
take out all his pain on Barack Obama. It's time that they regroup. Figure
out what Hillary needs to do to get her campaign back on track. It sounds
like sour grapes coming from the former commander in chief. Someone that
many Democrats hold in high esteem. For him to go after Obama, using a fairy
tale, calling him as he did last week. It's an insult. And I will tell you,
as an African-American, I find his tone and his words to be very depressing.
... I think his tone, I think calling Barack Obama a kid, he is a United
States senator." [Politico, 1/8/08]

Amaya Smith
South Carolina Press Secretary
Obama for America
++++++

On Sunday, he attempted to deny the charge but ended up repeating it in his statement, which the MSM conveniently left out:

“I am baffled by that statement by the senator. She made an ill advised statement about Dr. King suggesting that Lyndon Johnson had more to do with the Civil Right Acts. I did not make the statement. I haven’t commented on the statement. For them to suggest that we’re injecting race as a consequence of a statement she made that we haven’t commented on is pretty hard to figure out. Maybe you can tell me and explain to me how we distorted her statement.”

Anyone who says the Obama campaign is not playing this is plainly selectively blind.
"Woman's Movement"
I agree with an earlier post about finding a more suitable woman that would represent the woman's movement.  As a guy, I can honestly say that today's women have the ability to contribute substantially to the economic growth as with any man.  I have functioned under many sound-minded, honest, loyal women (including my mom - local politic) that have been the most greatest successors.  However, I don't see Hillary Clinton as being one of those women.  The negative campaigning, mud-slinging an demeaning attitudes does not represent well.  If it came down to a choice between Condalizza Rice and Hillary, I would vote "other" and write in my favorite teachers name.  I am a baby boomer and had the opportunity to experience Bills terms in office.  I voted for him in both circumstances.  I am totally surprised to witness all of this negative campaigning.

The ongoing criticism of every word Obama speaks.  This sort of activity is juvenile and unnecessary.

Obama is speaking “change.”  Change obviously requires a new approach to things that “were.”  It wouldn’t be considered change if a person functioned in the capacity as they have always.

Hillary accuses Obama for selling rhetoric while at the same time, condemns everything he says by repeating “that’s not change.”  Doesn’t she realize that this is a total contradiction?   I never thought I would see the day that the Clinton’s would become so emotionally and psychologically instable.  Is this a good choice for the white house?
Regardless of what Hillary Said about LBJ and MLK and who got what done is irrelevant.

She was working for the Goldwater campaign at the time. He was a republican conservative and WAS AGAINST minorities being able to vote period....

If Obamas adolescent drug experimentation is fair game so is this. At least he admitted to it, and said inhaling was the point...
Another thing the media keeps misrepresenting despite Clinton's rebuke of Tim Russert is by using just a snippet of her statement.  Here is the full statement:

"I would point to the fact that that Dr. King's dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, when he was able to get through Congress something that President Kennedy was hopeful to do, the President before had not even tried, but it took a president to get it done. That dream became a reality, the power of that dream became a real in people's lives because we had a president who said we are going to do it, and actually got it accomplished."

I challenge any Obama surrogates here to tell me how this remark became a racist remark. The statement is 100% true. It points to the fact that hope is not enough. If anything it was a critic of JFK and the presidents before him and not MLK.

Please Obama supporters educate yourselves before you ridicule yourself in this manner.

As concerns the drug-use issue. What is actually ironical is that it is a million times more racist to suggest that mentioning Obama's drug use is a racist statement, than actually mentioning Obama's drug use. Why would people consider Obama's drug use to be a racist thing unless they also believe that only blacks use drugs! Those pointing the finger need to realize that the finger is bent backwards pointing at them! Why is it OK for Obama to write about his drug use in a book but not OK for anybody else to even mention that Obama used drugs???!

So again I ask the Obama supporters: Why is drug use a racial thing? Unless YOU believe only blacks use drugs! If you believe that, then YOU are the racist ones.
