First thoughts: Open arms

From Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, and Domenico Montanaro
LAS VEGAS -- Last night’s debate didn’t feature any fireworks, as all three candidates seemed shellshocked from the last 72 hours, and they came with -- as Journey might put it -- open arms. After the polite discussions on race and gender, there were a few light jabs (over Yucca and energy, Obama on Hillary invoking Al Qaeda, Hillary’s Iraq question to Obama), but they were just that: light jabs.Clinton dominated the Yucca and energy section of the debate; she came armed on the issue and made sure that viewers knew the positions of both Edwards and Obama. They were the type of precise strikes that makes us think we'll see these hits in paid mailers in the next, well, day -- since the Nevada caucuses are Saturday. Any thought that Clinton wasn't going to compete in Nevada was washed away with her debate performance. She’s in. The question is who is going to turn out on Saturday. We don’t think anyone knows how Nevada will play out.

*** A feelgood debate for everyone: On the perception front, Edwards might have given the best presentation. He may have been a little light on speaking time, but in this intimate forum, his skill of making every one of his answers personal to the viewers shined through very well. As for Obama, he was fine but he just wasn't as commanding as he can be when he's standing up. Perhaps the seated format took away his height advantage. Still, the civil tone of the debate ultimately was a good thing for him -- it played into his message as a unifier and, frankly, he hasn't done as well in debates when they've been contentious. All three candidates will feel good about this debate; Clinton seemed to come prepared with a “Nevada” plan; Edwards had a "I'm still relevant" plan, and Obama had a "I am presidential" plan. They may have all made progress.

*** Romney's gold medal: His back up against the wall, Romney finally won the gold in Michigan after his disappointing silvers in Iowa and New Hampshire. But more than keeping Romney’s White House hopes alive, what Michigan did last night was muddle the GOP field even more. After winning in New Hampshire last week, McCain is suddenly in trouble and needs a South Carolina win to keep money flowing into his cash-strapped campaign. If the Republican race is going to turn into a last-man-standing contest, does Mitt now hold the advantage (given the millions more of his own fortune he’s prepared to spend)? We’ll find out after South Carolina, where a win by Huckabee or even Thompson could make the GOP race even more wide open. And by the way, Rudy is still alive…

*** What next? Will Romney get a bump into South Carolina or will the campaign decide that its real goal is to win Florida? There's some evidence that while Romney will compete in the Palmetto State, he may not make the state a make-or-break contest -- instead hoping that pressure falls on McCain. Another thought: Last night was also bad for Huckabee. His lackluster third in a state that had a decent base of evangelicals, as well as an openness to a populist economic message, might make it harder for his folks to convince the GOP establishment that he can be something other than the cool evangelical candidate.

*** Heading for the exits: A look inside the numbers of the exit polls tells us why Romney won, NBC’s Adam Verdugo and Norah O’Donnell reported last night. First, Republicans turned out in big numbers: 68% of the electorate in the primary identified themselves as Republican, while only 25% identified themselves as independents and 7% as crossover Democrats. Bottom line: Democrats and independents were just not the factor they had been for John McCain in New Hamphire -- or for that matter, eight years ago in Michigan. There was also the favorite-son factor: Romney benefited from his roots in this state where he was born and where his father was governor and chairman of American Motors. Of the 41% that said that Romney's ties to Michigan were at least somewhat important in their vote, Romney won more than half -- 58% -- while McCain only received 17%. Lastly, Romney also benefited because 44% of Republicans in this primary felt the most important quality was to have a candidate who shared their values.  Of those who said this, Romney received 37%, Huckabee 26%, and McCain 17%.

*** On the trail: After last night’s debate, Clinton and Edwards spend their day campaigning in Nevada; Giuliani is in Florida; Huckabee stumps in South Carolina; so does McCain, who picks up an endorsement from Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn (R), per NBC’s Bethany Thomas; Obama holds a town hall in Henderson, NV before heading to California to do an economic roundtable; and Romney and Thompson spend their days in South Carolina. Also, Ann Romney campaigns on her husband’s behalf in Las Vegas.

Could it be that Karl Rove is blogging under Jerry? Considering it sounds like his talking points vis-a-vis The Shrub.  Thanks Jerry! I can always rely on your idiotic and Pavlovian Fox news resurgitation (I do not even have to tune into that 1 trick pony show) for a good laugh;however; the stakes are too high and the country is going into the tiolet because of moronic individuals like yourself. Have a nice day!
The AZ Primary ballots have begun to arrived in the mail! What's with all the names running for President? Confusion certain to rule at the Arizona voting booth.

If you think the national leading candidates were hitting rock bottom, Arizona has just set the bar lower, much lower. Unbeknown to cable news pundits spinning themselves silly around polls, Arizona's Primary is destined to make history. A grouping of dark-horse candidacies has doubled the choices for our nation's highest elected office. Historic with four women on the ballot. Project White House 08, a microcosm of the national race, offers as much passion and absurdity as any of the front-running campaigns.

Tired of back-biting politics? Mud-sligning and name-calling?

Flip those national campaigns the proverbial finger and join the brave candidates of the Arizona Primary in their bold experiment in politics.

As a Black (screw this african-american crap too long) American single early thirties mother I am concerned by Obama supporters who seem to spew hate and anger. Do a self-assessment. Let the race card go. For people like myself it looked very much like the race card was brought out when by the media to divide us black folks by making us feel like if we do not vote Barack we are somehow betraying our community. Real talk, you have been the author so many personal attacks against Hillary it seems misogynistic. "Cold, calculating" isn't that how a lot of men describe a smart savvy woman everyday. If you are truly passionate about your candidate speak to his strengths not hatemongering.
There've been two polls out this morning, one from Nevada and one from South Carolina. Nevada goes for Romney and remains a toss-up in the Democratic side, South Carolina is big for McCain. Check poll roundup: http://www.campaigndiaries.com/2008/01/morning-polls-were-already-on-to.html
From Ron in Texas

“Bill Clinton was tested in 1993, and unlike the recent "British testing", the very first attack on the WTC was successful.  The truck bomb exploded, killing six people and injuring thousands.”

I guys behind that attack are in jail.  Where is Osama bin Laden?

Looks like the "politics of fear" is only work on the media...especially the Hardball guy; what a joke!

Politics of fear is just a code word for those who want to bury their heads in the sand.  It's because of people like you who don't want to believe that there is a movement of fanatics to reclaim the world for Islam which encourages them through your weakness.  They will stop at nothing to kill more infidels and they could care less about your "Be nice and they will go away" attitude.  Your failure to recognize the threat only encourages them more.  It’s amazing how you pacifists manage to deny the obvious.  Yes, don’t look and you will see no harm until it smacks you on the side of the head.

I’ve corrected this after re-reading your post

Hillary yet again shows she is presidential material. Mr Obama will have to wait his turn..after he gains lots more knowledge, about everything. The republicans would eat him alive.
Hillary: "I voted for the bankruptcy bill but was happy it didn't pass"
A hit job editoral appears in today's Las Vegas Review Journal in which the paper takes out the knives on Hillary.  I noticed no mention of Obama being supported in a huge way by a firm that is pro-Yucca mountain, that Obama and Edwards have not been firmly opposed to Yucca Mountain, and that Hillary has worked hard in opposition to it.  I am also appalled that there was no discussion of issues in this editoral which is much more important to Nevada voters and the copuntry than what was written there.
Obama showed last night that he has what it takes to be a great president. He demonstrated that he has the vision to lead this country into a very productive period. He really makes me feel that the gridlock in government could actually be broken in an Obama Administration. He will not be a partisan who will never consider other points of view. He will welcome divergent viewpoints. That is the mark of a true leader. In college I remember reading a book about presidents who only wanted to surround themselves with "yes men". I think the book was called "Groupthink." The book said how the truly effective presidents have been those with the self-confidence to realize that it is OK to hear opposing viewpoints and sides in order to come up with a workable solution to problems. No one side has all of the answers. We need to have a president who can bring out the best in ALL of us! I really think Obama is that person.
Poor Jerry..he continues to spew garbage from his mouth out of desparation. He knows very well that the Democrats will win the white house in Nov .. in Fact thats what Pat Robertson said last night on MSNBC ... This nation is a complete mess thanks to an ignorant Texas Republican .... I guess all of you think the same Jerry ...
Here we go again with the Democrats playing the race card.  The Democrats have been doing this for years and trying to hide their complicity by blaming the Republicans for their own dirty tricks.  Do you really think it's the Republicans that post those pamphlets every four years saying the election has been delayed to a different date?  You might get one or two people fall for that but that's it so on it’s face it’s a waste of money to do something like that, but it looks great when you can waive the race card in front of the media blaming those bad racist Republicans.  Wake up!  This has been a trick used by Democrats to bring up the race card.  This has been a Democratic dirty trick for decades so it certainly isn't surprising to see how quick they used race against their own party members.  Stop the racial back and forth - no way the Dems have gotten so good at it they can't help themselves.
Hillary Clinton is soooo awesome!  I was going to vote for Mitt Romney, but after last night's debate, she sure won my vote! Wow! I mean, WOW!
Allison,

Please take a deep breath and think about a babbling brook.

The Clintons may well be the best thing since sliced bread, but watch your oxygen exchange rate.

You could get dizzy.
You could lose consciousness.
You could lose credibility.

Breathe into a paper bag for a few minutes and take a low-dose Xanax.

Hillary does.

Maybe the two year election process is finally taking it's toll. The only way to effectively process a War to it's desired conclusion,is by raising taxes to pay as you go.When politicians hedge on their responsibilities and pass the cost on to unborn tax payers, this is malicious pandering to the greedy people that believe they can buy their way into heaven. That particular stairway goes in the opposite direction.Remember, charity begins at home.Just be sure to tell the 46 million Americans with no Health Insurance to not try to change their fate.If you ain't got, then you must not need!
After IA - Huckabee vs. Obama.
After NH - McCain vs. Hillary.
After MI - Romney vs. undecided.

Will the media give it a rest and let the voters play this thing out or not? I think we know the answer to that question already.

The poor hapless morons in the press would like to drive the debate but the electorate has proven fickle. That is the best part about this year for me, the people are speaking up and they are not in lock step around the country.

And jerry from cc, stop embarrassing yourself.
Hillary Clinton is a con job from start to finish.  She has capitulated to the politics of expediency and has compromised every valid belief that she ever held near and dear.  Pragmatic?  Maybe.  But is this old, battle-hardened, cynical politician (a student of her husband and his triangulating forces) who we want in the White House?  Well, not this Democrat.

I want someone who embraces the principles of the Democratic party.  I want somebody who is an advocate for the middle class and who will push aside the special, moneyed interests when formulating policy - without turning this into class warfare.  I want someone who can inspire young people, people of color, people of less means to be involved in the political process, to do more for this country and think less about themselves.  I want someone who can unite this polarized nation by invoking themes that are consistant with the betterment of mankind and not by scaring us with threats of enemies, both real and imagined.

Obama is that person.  Hillary is damaged goods.  Whose best prepared to handle the job from day one?  A beaurocrat who is the micro manager or the CEO who draws from the vast amount of talent around him and who possesses great intellectual curiosity?  I want a president who harbors no fear about listening to dissenting opinion (unlike the present ignoramous in the Oval Office) and who can forge a government that will best serve us as an agent of change and creativity.  This choice is so clear to me.
Obama '08
I would love to see Hillary as President, Obama as Vice President, Biden as Secretary of State, Richardson as the UN ambassador, and Edwards or Kucinich to head a new cabnet position dealing with poverty in America with Bill Clinton as a roving ambassador to any hot spots that are in need of the US having need for better relations with hostile countries.  I think all of these roles could be switched around(with the exception of Bill being President or Vice President).  There is just so much talent on the Democratic side of the aisle compared to the Republican bafoons who are way out of touch with reality and the concerns of the American people.

Compare that what we have now. Talk about change!
Betty SC,

The fact that you read newsmax automatically disqualifies you from logical thinking. Please post your diatribes somewhere else.
The big winner in last night's debate was the DEMOCRATIC PARTY! If all three candidates can steer clear of race/gender politics and avoid distorting each other's records, then whoever wins the nomination won't alienate others Dems. With the Democratic party united and with some crossover appeal to Independents and Republicans, the nominee will easily win the general election.

Kudos to Clinton and Obama for damping down the race and gender issues. Kudos to Edwards for continuing to fight passionately without disparaging his Democratic opponents. Kudos to the DEMOCRATIC PARTY...it's back on track for a big win in 2008.
Pat Buchanan and Chris Matthews are a joke.  I expected Pat to push his Hillary agenda to try and help his party, but Chris, I lost a lot of respect for him trying to force feed us a result that was clearly a farce.  I guess these talk show hosts really think Americans are stupid.  At least one of the analysts kind of stood up for the integrity of their profession.  Obama clearly won the debate last night.  And Hillary’s ability to polarize and divide is as crystal clear as ever. She has not only divided the Republicans from the Democrats,   the Democrats from the Democrats, but now she is trying to divide black people from white people.  How can she make us one as a country, when she can’t even unite a party…the answer is, she can’t.

And I am really getting tried of this whole experience issue, if she has so much experience, then she should release her record.   She has already shown that her and Bill have extremely bad judgment…yes, Bill, if you think he didn’t tell her how to vote then you are kidding yourself.  Gore, and the people Bill had around him was the brains behind the Clinton presidency.  Oh and if you didn’t know, all of Bill’s people now work for Obama.  Why would this be? Why wouldn’t they have stayed with Bill and work with his wife?  The answer…they aren’t stupid people.

Truth is, the real roll of the dice would be to try and put Hillary in office, one she has a lot of secrets, that’s why she won’t release her record, two she put her name on the ballet in Michigan, and the uncommitted got 40 percent of the vote.  Wow! 40 percent!   Three, she is trying to claim someone else’s experience as her own.  And for those of you who have not yet figured out who started all of our jobs going oversea, new flash…it was Bill! Sure for the short term, he did some good things for the economy, but long term that decision is destroying our economy, with the help of Bush.  But the cold hard facts is that it was in bad judgment that the agreements were made, and the Clinton’s have a consistent history of making bad decisions for our country; they are just banking on the fact that most American’s are to dumb to figure this out.  I hope they are wrong.

The other issue they try to make is that we don’t know Obama…but he is an open book, literally. What else is there to know?  If there was something to find they would have buried him with it a long time ago, there is nothing there, that’s why we keep getting bombarded with this he say she say crap.

Is this what we want people? A duo that continues to make bad decision…they don’t pay for it, we do.

And another thing, Edwards is ok, but how can he claim to fight for us American without bring people to the table…does he plan to take them around the back of the white house and beat them into submission?  Give me a break already.

People it’s time we did the right thing for our country.  Obama 08
I haven't seen any analysis of the fact that Michigan's Democrats came out in large numbers to vote against Hillary.  Considering she was the only frontrunner on the ballot, earning only 55% of the vote seems to me to be striking.  With all the talk of electability, where does this leave Hillary?
er, jerry...the Republicans have been in power for the last seven years. They started a war costing us billions, dragged their feet on addressing the energy crisis, the cost of health care in this country, and the mortgage crisis and the recession is WHOSE fault?

ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON — A special commission is urging the government to raise federal gasoline taxes by as much as 40 cents per gallon over five years as part of a sweeping overhaul designed to ease traffic congestion and repair the nation's decaying bridges and roads.

Kind of stupid to be talking about raising taxes on anything right now with this so called recession coming and all the money that was spent on earmarks by the democratic controlled congress.....

Maybe if they gave all the earmarks back, maybe they would have the money for bridge work....
This is serious business and Senator Clinton would not associate with Farrakhan http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/obama_wright_farrakhan/2008/01/14/64332.html
Betty, S.C. (Sent Wednesday, January 16, 2008 11:11 AM)

Betty your facts are distorted to say the least. Clinton was really much in talks with Farrakan during the Million Man March, so I am not sure what you are talking about.
Edwards is the true winner because he is the only one that is not for sale.

Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA and put up the for sale sign. We are now bleeding jobs. Hillary takes every dime she can get from the special interest. And Obama is not ready.

John Edwards is not for sale. It's time to take the for sale sign down before we are all working for 7.25 an hour.

Edwards/Obama in 08
Sorry Sierra, but your pushing the 'attack' theme won't work anymore.  The candidates, including - if not especially - Obama himself - made it quite clear last night they want the discussion to end and to move on the real issues, which is, after all, the basis on which we should be deciding.
You must secretly (or not so secretly) be a republican shill to push this dead dog so hard, because the more intelligent among the concerned parties realize continuing the debate of who hit whom first only ends up bloodying all involved, disenfranchises 3/4 the democratic party and tosses the election to the republicans.
Why do you think Obama is just as - if not more - anxious than Hillary to end the discussion?  Focus on 'race wars' only brings attention to the 'black candidate', instead of the 'better candidate'
All three of them acted like grown ups last night for a change.
It's time for the press and the bloggers to join them
Is Barack Obama, then, the ideal Democratic candidate for president? Hardly. His policy recommendations -- when he can be convinced to get any more specific than "I represent change" -- are the opposite of "change." They're old-line, welfare-state solutions that haven't spent enough time in the microwave to appear even superficially appetizing.

Sen. Obama is a relatively young man with relatively little of the kind of real-world experience that prepares a candidate to stand firm against urgent advice to, say, bomb some remote population of defenseless civilians to "send a message," or plunge the economy into a dark night of unforeseen consequences by crippling the free market in the name of "fighting greed."

But Barack Obama is, at least, likeable. He is a good enough orator that there is no need to cringe when he dares to speak off the cuff. He is a good politician, in the non-insulting sense that he knows how to speak to individual Americans and give them the feeling he cares about their concerns.

That's part of an endorsement of Obama?  Really?  Ouch.
Just wanted to comment on how pro-Clinton MSNBC seems to be getting. I think it is because of Dan Abrams. His overt support of Hillary, which he regularly states on his 9PM show, is the reason for this troubling shift away from neutrality, in my opinion.

Pat Buchanan is so transparent it is funny. He has said in past months on numerous occasions that the GOP is salivating at the idea of running against Hillary. So when he now sees that Obama is probably going to be the Democratic nominee, he is petrified for the GOP and sings Hillary's praises at every opportunity. Really funny.

As to Chris Matthews over-the-top shift to Hillary last night, it is pretty clear that the publicity from 'The View' critcizing him last week for saying negative things about Hillary really got to him. Disappointed in Chris for caving in to the pressure. And I think he is feeling pressure from Dan Abrams. (more below)

Andrea Mitchell is another who has suddenly shifted over from being fair to being extremely pro- Clinton.

Chuck Todd is very pro-Hillary. Never misses an opportunity to criticize Obama and praise Clinton.

Why the slant toward Hillary?? Dan Abrams who runs MSNBC, is strongly for Hillary. He makes no secret of it. So maybe Pat, Chris, Andrea, Chuck Todd, etc. feel that they have to placate Abrams.

CNN has the nickname the 'Clinton News Network'. It will be a shame if MSNBC follows suit. I always used to think MSNBC had a wide span of ideas and played fair in their coverage. But seeing how biased Dan Abrams is toward Hillary really makes me wonder.

Keith Olbermann, Tucker Carlson, and Joe Scarborough seem to be the only ones Abrams has not been able to manipulate. They still appear objective in their coverage. Good for Keith and Tucker and Joe! Shame on Dan Abrams.
You are still spreading lies Jerry.  Someone needs to stop you.

Pat Huntington NY (Sent Wednesday, January 16, 2008 10:30 AM)

Well Pat:  Let's take a look at some of these "lies" I seem to be spreading....

For one thing Pat, the democrats have taken control of congress in 2006, so you lied about the GOP being in control of congress right now.....

Hillary and Obama have put togather noew tax cut packages.....
That is a lie in itself....
When Hillary was pressed how she was going to pay for her tax cuts, she said she couldn't....
Obama would raise taxes to pay for his tax package....

So everybody would get $100-$250 bucks.....
After the Federal, State, Local governments get their piece of that pie, what's next?  Where is the next meal coming from?  Hillary's tax package is just about as bad as her $5000 baby bonds fiasco.....

Housing slump.....
This is what happens when you give money to buy a $200,000 home to a bunch of people who work at Dairy Queen.  There is no way to pay it back and people who took out subprime loans really deserve everything they got and more.  A course in reading contracts and maybe a course in plain english should solve that.

credit card crunch.....
People picked getting that Plasma Television and the Nintendo Wii over paying for their health insurance and food and a roof over their heads.  Nobody took a gun to thse folks and told them "either your blood or your signature will be on that credit card slip".  I am sick and tired of bailing out people who are really too stupid or just plain lazy to take care of their own lives.  They deserve everything they get and more.

This did not have anything to do with politics...
This had to do with stupid people......

Someone should stop me?????
Like Vince Foster??????
To the people still posting about the race/gender debate of the last several days, you need to stop it, because your own candidates said they want their supports to stop, and it will only serve republican interests in the general election.

Pat Huntington NY

The racism and sexism in the Democratic party is alive and (tragically) well. It needs to be dealt with, so it's a matter of getting it out in the open now, or leave it for the Republicans do it in the fall. So which is it going to be?
Romney won and has been at the top of every primary, because he is the only well-rounded conservative with a chance on winning the presidency. He is competitive everywhere because:
He has more executive experience than any candidate.
He is a strong social conservative.
He has vision for change
He can turn around other mistakes made prior to his taking the Job. (Bain Capital, Olympics, MA. Huge deficit, Big Dig Fiasco, and he'll do the same in Iraq)

Huckabee is a nice guy... so is Jimmy Carter

I'm not going to take anything away from Rudy, he just shouldn't be President over Romney

Mccain is a great american but he continually pals around with Kennedy, Lieberman, Feingold etc..

Be Smart. Look at the Facts.

VOTE ROMNEY

What about the billions of dollars that your conservative friend Dubya is borrowing to fight his war? When one "borrows" something it is understood that it will be payed back. Billions from China, Japan, Saudi, etc. No comment about this, Jerry? I thought so.

Big difference between fighting a war against folks that want to kill us and changing the House menu from Rachel Ray to Wolfgang Puck...
Chris Matthews has gone completely wacko. His fawing over Hillary's debate performance was obvious attempt to make good after people finally called him on his angry criticism of her. He's lost all credibility and needs to go to punditry rehab.

Chuck Todd has the most salient point — that in cordial debate and campaign where it's about the candidates themselves, Obama rises above with his calm, dignified deamenor and call for united to bring change and solve problems. Read this interesting analysis on exactly that point  http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_stump/archive/2008/01/16/nevada-debate-thoughts.aspx

Obama already denounced Farrakhan and the opinion piece that said that Obama was a Farrakhan shill.

Seriously, educate yourself and stop jumping at every piece of falsehood that comes out about Obama.

Thank you, come again.
There was mention last night (on CNN or MSNBC) that the Harry Reid machine was supporting Clinton
The first open mention of this
I know Reid's son is working for Hillary

here is the story:

ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has not endorsed a Democratic presidential candidate, but his son has.

Rory Reid is signing on as Nevada chairman for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential bid. He will be senior adviser on Western issues including public lands, transportation, resources and conservation, growth and affordable housing, the New York senator's campaign said in a statement Sunday.

Reid, 44, is chairman of the Clark County, Nev., Commission and a former chairman of the Nevada State Democratic Party.

His son is also a lobbyist....

In 2003 Reid was embarassed by a Los Angeles Times article on his son and son-in-law lobbying his office. In 2002 Reid introduced a bill, "The Clark County Conservation of Public Land and Natural Resources Act of 2002," which was ostensibly aimed at boundary shifts, land trades and other arcane matters in Nevada. The Times article explains that the bill would provide "a cavalcade of benefits to real estate developers, corporations and local institutions that were paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in lobbying fees to his sons' and son-in-law's firms".

Howard Hughes Corp. paid Reid's son-in-law Scott Barringer's "tiny" law firm $300,000 in lobbying fees and received "a provision allowing the company to acquire 998 acres of federal land ripe for development in the exploding Las Vegas metropolitan area." A Nevada law firm that employs all four of Reid's sons represented a group of real estate developers that received helpful provisions in the Clark County bill.

Reid argued that the bill would help Nevada's economy while protecting the environment. The bill "placed an additional 440,000 acres of federal land under wilderness protection".

Reid's son Key and Barringer have represented almost every industry in Nevada, all of them seek Reid's help on federal matters. Reid initially defended his son's lobbying as perfectly legal and clean, noting that they had to file biannual reports. He later banned family members from lobbying anyone in his office.

So harry can play just as dirty as Hillary.....
To the people still posting about the race/gender debate of the last several days, you need to stop it, because your own candidates said they want their supports to stop, and it will only serve republican interests in the general election.

Pat Huntington NY (Sent Wednesday, January 16, 2008 11:06 AM)

Kind of funny that you mention that Pat....
Since it was Hillary that started it....
and Bill had to pull out the "S" word......
Hillary simply won my vote!
Betty, S.C.:'...Tell me one thing Obama supporters, do you guys really support Louis Farrakhan? "OBAMA DOES" and his minister Jeremiah Wright, the pastor of his United Trinity Church of Christ honored Farrakhan just last month?.....'

Has the Clinton campaign stopped race baiting ?
I guess not

Another Clinton sock puppet....
Do they dare do this from campaign headquarters ?

The Clinton campaign decided after Iowa to go negative on Obama
They're trying to increase his negatives.....

Our first viable AFRICAN AMERICAN CANDIDATE !!
(and he's being SMEARED by the Clinton HATE MACHINE)

Do you want THIS for the next four years ?
NO THANKS

Obama/Edwards '08
Honesty, Integrity, REAL REFORM

I can't believe all the comments about "so and so never fails to mention various things about Obama's past" etc. But the same old Obama supportors keep harping on the past personal problems of the Clintons. They never mention the successes, which are many, but get into their personal business every chance they get. Criticize if you want but don't play the "above it all" game when you keep bringing up personal things, especially when you bellyache about people talking about Obama's past indiscretions.
Clinton...Me...I
Obama...Us...We
Edwards...The Mill...The Mill
Please refer all questions to my staff, thank you.
The racism and sexism in the Democratic party is alive and (tragically) well. It needs to be dealt with, so it's a matter of getting it out in the open now, or leave it for the Republicans do it in the fall. So which is it going to be?

The party that had Bull Connor as one of it's biggest supporters is alive and well......

To this day, i cannot understand why African Americans would want to back a party that was hosing it's own in Alabama back in the 1950's.......
Dems and Repubs blah, blah, blah...we need a strong third party for true multicultural Americans!!!!
Chaunda,Indianapolis declares "Cold, calculating" isn't that how a lot of men describe a smart savvy woman everyday.'

chaunda, it's worth noting that often times females describe women that are truly 'cold and calculating' as 'savvy' in the politically correct jungle we live in, hillary is at heart cold, she could not care less about the plight that faces working americans, but in her defense she has never had any exposure to 'doing without' or having to live within a budget, that being said a candidate that takes money from the same corporations that currently run this country is going to change what? she has already pledged her elegance to the 'powers that be', she will be of no help to anyone but the wealthy, take a good look at mrs. clinton, she's part of the problem in washington, not the answer, edwards is the only candidate that cares about america as a whole
Tell me one thing Obama supporters, do you guys really support Louis Farrakhan? "OBAMA DOES" and his minister Jeremiah Wright, the pastor of his United Trinity Church of Christ honored Farrakhan just last month?

Farrakhan has repeatedly made hate-filled statements targeting Jews, whites, America, and homosexuals. He has called whites “blue-eyed devils” and the “anti-Christ.” He has described Jews as “bloodsuckers” who control the government, the media, and some black organizations.
Do you know some of these satanic Jews have taken over BET [the Black Entertainment Network]?” Farrakhan said in a speech on Nov. 11, 2007.
Just last month, Dec. 1007, after that speech, Obama’s minister and friend, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. and his Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, honored Farrakhan at a gala, bestowing on him its Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Lifetime Achievement Trumpeteer award.
This is serious business and Senator Clinton would not associate with Farrakhan or Jeremiah Wright, yet
Obama was married by him and his kids baptized by him.
How does this help divisiveness in America?
Ron Kessler from the Washington Insider wrote the article - go here to read it http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/obama_wright_farrakhan/2008/01/14/64332.html

Frankly, I could care less. It is obvious, Farrakhan holds no sway over Obama's actions and decisions. Besides, I am more disappointed that this guys church is even being scrutinized. So what if the pastor or someone in the church like Farrakhan? Then I would assume that because Giuliani is catholic, that we automatically should assume he likes to have sex with little boys (priest scandal), or how about assuming Huckabee likes to do meth, get massages and screw male prostitutes(Ted Haggard) same could be said for Hill except switch male for female prostitute.

Keep religion out of politics!
