Rove: Dems irresponsible, GOP positive

In an address to the Republican National Committee, Karl Rove discussed the differences between the Democratic and Republican candidates running for president. Rove said they differ on important issues such as their positions on taxes, national security and health care, going as far as saying the Democrats have adopted "irresponsible words and irresponsible stands on the most important issue facing America, the security of our country and the security of our people" while Republicans have a "positive and optimistic view about what we ought to be doing about health care."

Rove spent the majority of the time speaking about Sen. Clinton and Obama. "If you saw the Philadelphia debate, you know Senator Clinton's got a problem with giving straight answers in this campaign," Rove said at the executive director's meeting in Washington, D.C. He also outlined Clinton's spending policy, saying although she claims fiscal responsibility, she has already proposed $800 billion in new spending.

"How can you claim to be fiscally responsible and want to increase the federal budget by $800 billion in four short years?" Rove asked. "She says, 'I have a million ideas and the country can't afford them all.' For once I agree with Senator Clinton."

He called on Clinton to release the documents detailing her work in the White House and slammed her for only receiving 55% of the vote in the Michigan primary last night. "Think about that," Rove said. "She's running against nobody and nobody gets 40% of the vote. The other 5% of the vote went to three other people. 27,924 votes went to the guy who believes in UFOs, the guy who dropped out and the guy who last held public office somewhere around 1855."

Regarding Obama, Rove went after his "present" votes while in the Illinois State Senate on controversial votes on abortion, the second amendment and privacy for sex abuse victims. "This is not the kind of change, and this is certainly not the kind of experienced leadership. This is not the kind of  political courage that Americans want and deserve in their next chief executive."

Rove said the Republican nominee will have to do four things upon securing the nomination: "introduce themselves to the American people;" "immediately engage on kitchen table issues that we have great answers for but are sometimes concerned about talking about" like healthcare, cost of education, jobs, the economy, and trade; "campaign aggressively in places where Republicans don't usually campaign," reaching out to African Americans, Latinos, blue-collar workers, union households, etc; and demonstrate that they "understand the surge is working in Iraq."

Riddle-What's the difference between Karl Rove and a steaming pile of dog crap.
Answre: Nothing.
Rove .... expert in slime, character assasination, betrayor of CIA undercover agents and co(whore)t (note my spelling) of Wolfowitz, crawl back into your hole.  If irresponsible is to talk about change, give Americans hope with a vision of true democracy, help Americans cover their medical bills (health insurance), get out of a war based on lies, stop deficit spending and defending civil rights, then by all means let's be IRRESPONSIBLE!  I am a repentant and born again Republican.  Born again as a Democrat, never to stray to the extreme right again!  Adios Rove, George and gang!
hey.  look at it this way.  at least he got all you people to stop yelling at each other for one thread.

guess you could call him the great uniter.

bring kooks together for the common cause since 1999
Mr. Rove,

How much have you been paid by Swift-boat?
I think Rove may be pathological.  His answer to every economic condition is "lower taxes."  The Republicans have got us into unprecedented deficits over the past 7+ years.  Future generations are going to be paying the price for years to come.  As far as national security, I would refer to it as national insecurity.  I don't see our borders, chemical or nuclear plants protected, our ports or anything else in this country.  The repugs have placed all of their emphasis on pre-emptive strikes (Iraq), and now Bush is beating his war drums against Iran, even though our own National Security Agency came out and said Iran does not have the capability to produce nuclear weapons.  As far as healthcare goes, if you're one of the lucky Americans to be covered under a good group plan, I would have to say that our healthcare is good.  If you're one of the unfortunate 50MM or so who are the working poor, then you are s--- out of luck.  I couldn't agree more that the Repugs and Dems are very far apart on those issues.  We may as well change the name of our country to United States for Corporate America.  The damage inflicted on this country over the last 7+ years is reprehensible and I am counting down the days until this Administration just disappears.
Wonder why he isn't spinning a tale to distance himself and the reagonite repugnants from the republican congressman/NATO rep who got caught funneling money to Al-Quida?
Now that's a story! I have thought all along that 911 was an inside job to give the repugnants an upperhand in the 2004 election, seems that little theory of mine if finally coming to fruit!
You can run, but you can't run far enough or fast enough Karl - the truth will catch you yet.
I as a Democrate thank Rove. He has made it impossible for a Republican to get elected. Don't believe me just look at the Rep. feild for this election. Hope they do better with the local races or we will be a one party country for years to come. Oh and Karl I do not think that party will be the one you belong to
I hope ol' Karl keeps being the voice of the Rethugs in 2008. They'll be lucky to carry 10 states.
Karl Rove said:
Republicans have a "positive and optimistic view about what we ought to be doing about health care."

Excuse me, you scumbags have been in office for 7 years and haven't done anything about it, why would anyone believe you now?
Listen up Dems...This is just a small little sample if this country is silly enough to nominate Clinton OR Obama...it's about ELECTIBILITY...the ONLY Dem to NOT be on Roves hit list...JOHN EDWARDS.  Think about it and vote for Edwards...he beats ALL Republicans in match-ups in the general and for dirt...well they'll drag out a $400 haircut and thats all they got.
How ironic that I just finished reading about missing White House e-mail tapes possibly related to such things as the Valerie Plame incident.  Yeah Karl, you guys are the responsible ones - pillars of honesty, integrity and responsibilty.  At last check what is the federal deficit?
Rove, like Bush, doesn't even know that the other 95% of America even exists.
How is it that someone intimately involved with high-level corruption and scandal is being asked for his opinion?  Did the Republican National Committee actually invite this crook to speak at an official function?  Can't they do any better than this know criminal?  What does this say about 'conservative' ethics in government?  Did NBC actually report on this?  Wouldn't it be like interviewing OJ Simpson on the benefits of family harmony?  And who would listen to this pathological manipulative liar (Rove) anyway?  I'm with 'no bush' and 'Amy' (above) - this slime should be in jail!
You should at least note that Senator Obama's "present" votes in the Illinois Senate were part of an acknowledged Democratic and Woman's choice strategy.

George, Seattle (Sent Wednesday, January 16, 2008 2:52 PM)

Keep repeating that and maybe it will become true.

He may have CYA'd 7 of the over 100 present votes he bravely cast while a part-time employee of the state of Illinois, but that leaves, well, most of them.

There needs to be a block to check on the voting document that states (none of the above). we do not have representnation in government. we have people on both sides who do what they want to do just to improve their wealth and or gain power.  this person by his actions clearly is one of those.

Russ///Ft. Worth,Tx
Hah!  This gave me the biggest laugh I've had in quite a while.  How he can talk about the Dems not being fiscally responsible, I have no clue.  This administration has been spending money as quickly as it can print it.  Thanks for the laugh, Karl!
Amy B Portland
Amy don't lose hope as we could see in this nation the Necons being lead out of the Whitehouse in chains the likes of the leader of this murderous pack, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, GWB, Doug Fieth, Stephan Hadley, Condi Rice, John Bolton and a host of other in chain gang, while Valeria Plame, Joe Wilson stand there appluding the departure of these corrupt muderious crooks.

Most of all see Allen Greenspan do the Texas-Two-Step about, the credit crunch and sub-prime mortage melt down, he got the whole economical thing wrong from his pal GWB.

It would be nice to view this gang in World Court and then put so far back in prison that they would pump  sunlight into these guys.  Then have all the kins given a chance to see who were responsible for killing and wounding 3,922 in their cold graves the the 28,800 wounded and confront them as to why daddy can't get medical help while they were being used as stepping stone as, Rep. John Boehner R-OH said "the sacrifice of, then, 3,700 military lives were a "SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR OUR POSITION IN THE MIDDLE EAST"

Then Amy I would call that justice. Just maybe the American people will pay attention to our World.
THE ARTICLE SAYS CLINTON PROPOSES 800 MILLION IN NEW SPENDING AND QUOTES ROVE SAYING 800 BILLION.....SO WHICH IS IT AND GET IT RIGHT...DUH.
Hey Karl, here is a piece by Bob Novak in the Washington Post entitled: GOP Senators opt for Pork.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/09/AR2007120900912.html
It exposes the lie of Republican fiscal conservatism and explains why you and the GOP are so anxious to make us believe Iraq is anything more than the WORST foreign policy screw up in the history of this nation.
You should talk to Bob more. I bet he misses your sweet little treasonous whispers.
Here's wishing you early admittance to the first available Federal Correctional Institution.
Why would anyone listen to Rove.  He must be feeling lonely (poor thing). Love it that he is out.  Too bad he is not in jail.
Karl Rove...wasn't he chased out of DC in disgrace? Too bad so many reprehensibles still believe in the bushie fairy tale of deficit spending, warmongerng and utter incompetence...we should kick all bushies off of any gooberment programs like SS or military retirement and send their little bastards to Iraq too
No one is listening, but somehow Karl just can't stop talking.
People need only to research candidate's records, platforms, hear them at debates and see them in person to hear their stance on issues. Commentators (tabloid-type gossip mongers)like Karl Rove are just not necessary!
I have served 9 years in the Marines and am a combat veteran . Of those 9 years I have never met or by proxy, known any of my fellow Marines to agree with the views of the Democratic Party. I'm not trying to be a Rove sympathiser at the moment but he does seem to have a point here in that the most common word used to describe Democrats is " irresponsible " . That's coming from the most honorable men and women the world has to offer. It is easy to say you've been lied to when all the facts are unkown to you. It's also easy to say a CIA operative was outed by the administration. Folks, if you don't think that woman had specific alterior motives during that event , you are casting a blind eye. That was political fodder used for the single purpose of hurting the Bush admin. As far as president Bush is concerned, I believe he has been the most honorable president we've had in many decades. My fellow Marines defend this country with their lives and believe what they are fighting for. Maybe some of the Bush haters should ask their opinions on politics. It's so easy to be critical of the country you're in when you're not the ones fighting for its honor and your own safety. Semper Fidelis

Hi Ira,

I was wondering what your opinion was of Bush vetoing your pay raise in the last military appropriations bill is.  Also, how do you and your fellow Marines feel about what happened at Walter Reed?  Do you guys have enough body armor and mine resistant Hummvees yet?  What was your reaction when the Bush amdinistration rolled back family benefits for the children and spouses of combat troops?

I don't ask these things rhetorically.  I know alot of millitary people view Democrats as the enemy.  I bring the above issues to your attention and consideration as a way of pointing out that maybe the GOP is not the ally you beleive them to be.  Democrats don't like the war in Iraq because it was based on several different lies, from WMDs, to Al Queida being in Iraq at the time of invasion, to spread democracy, to success being "not no violence".

I respect the uniform of our armed services alot more than I think you give me credit for, but I have to submit that you might be basing your political loyalties on a world view that is inaccurate.

The GOP has treated all branches of the military like day laborers for the last 8 years in my opinion.  And it's one of the reason that I can't see myself casting a ballot for a Republican for the forseeable future.
DRAFT COLLEGE REPUBLICANS.
Ira Beaumont, Texas (Sent Wednesday, January 16, 2008 5:59 PM)-Thank you for your service sir. But sometimes our leaders are wrong. Are we to never question them? Once a President has committed troops are we obligated as citizens to shut up because if he committed troops he must be right? Are we to just close our eyes to obvious mistakes and allow actions to be carried out in our name with no thought or comment because we are not the ones fighting?
Karl Rove is like the devil in the bible roaming around on the planet and God asked him,"have you seen my son Job?" Karl has nothing to do with his time anymore. he is just roaming about for whom to devour. he should be locked up like devil he is so that he wont cause any more hearthache in this country. It is because of this devil we are in the mess we are in now in this country.
I had to laugh when i heard what ROVE said. he should crawl back under his ROCK
